Kastra wondered through the forest, enjoying the quiet but feeling a little bored. Her brother had left and already she missed him terribly. The stories he would tell. Even in her advanced age, she enjoyed a good story about places she had no lust to visit herself or even those of fictional places. But mostly she enjoyed those with a larger ring of truth to them than a storyteller's. Stories from an adventure about the far off places she could only dream about. Of course, she was able bodied to leave on her own to go see these sights, but unlike Aurelius she enjoyed the peace of staying in one place far too much to leave. Hearing it from others was enough to satisfy her. Even if those tales weren't always the same.
The pink flames surrounding her glowed, even in the daylight. They danced upon different parts of her body, one flame jumping from wing tip to wing tip and back again. It never seemed to touch her tail except to light the furry end on fire. Her hooves were like walking on flames. When she breathed out, a little wisp of pink followed. It was most odd, but she wasn't complaining.
Nor was she about where she had ended up. The forest was enchanting and what's more, it was guarded by a dragon. From what she knew of this new world from those passing by, her kind were not a common sight. Rare, you might say. Her group falling all at once must have been quite the sight. At least at first, until the fear of fire must have driven this dragon slightly mad. Until he had discovered it didn't burn.
Kastra was not too proud a dragon to admit she wasn't just out here to enjoy the scenery. She hoped to run into the Gold dragon. She wanted to know his tale. She, of course, knew of the Golds. Her twin had a bit of the color in her. Along with black, to the dragon wise an odd mix. The two were the enemy of the other, just like half of her namesake was to the red, which her brother showed on his body. She had learned to put colors aside from the experience of living with so many mixed together. She could only hope it would put a damper on them staying here since the forest's guardian was of pure blood. Sad it would be if it did. Despite their color mixes, her siblings were just fine and no more prone to trouble than she herself was. Which was so say very little, if at all.

Three children, no not children ancient dragons like himself had fallen. The draconic herd had been enough already had it not? Not that many had bothered him. he even already had a resident. The damage caused was almost more than he could handle. So much had to be regrown and the dead had to be removed or buried to make way for the new growth that would replace what was lost.
Not that he minded the work, he was just surprised three dragon siblings had fallen all at the same time in the same place. His Guest too much have thought it was quite strange. Even stranger was they were all Hybrids. Hybrids between dragon breeds that don't mate Ever. Valamaradance the eldest sister explained they were the children of A gold and a Incarnum who saw more reason than many of his kind. They had too a grandfather that was a silver...
He couldn't turn down those in need even if they were tainted. Still it baffled him, There was a Silver/song hybrid and their brother whom breathed blue fire a red gold hybrid. Their very existence could not happen he was certain. He was pure and the chromatics and Metallics didn't mingle, ever! yet here these three were old as he, healthy and strong, reared well as their interests show... they were raised like metallics despite having traits of the chromatics. Still it was hard for him to wrap his head around had things changed so much at home? Especially after his meeting with the Silver... Gildenfire pondered as he enjoyed the sunlight slipping through the forest.
The dragon strode among the trees His wings folded neatly at his side as he strode by the animals seeing they were looked after, and the balance was maintained.
It was his duty after all.

While Kastra moved through the forest, she tried to keep her tail from dragging on the ground too much for fear of making a bigger mess than she and her siblings had already. No easy feat with such a large and heavy tail. She was not a weak dragon, but keeping one's tail upright for too long was tiring on the muscles. Though it trampled a few flowers here and there, she was glad it was not heavy enough to cause serious damage. Broken stems was something that was bound to happen with anyone. Still, she did feel guilty about what she had done to his beautiful forest.
As she rounded a corner of thick bushes, the pale dragon mare caught sight of him. Without hesitation she went for him, a calm expression on her face as was usually seen. Little phased her or brought emotion to her voice or facial appearance.
"I am sorry about your forest," Kastra began before she had even reached him. She stopped, curling her tail slightly to one side of her like a cat does when it sits. "If I can help you, I would very much like to." The end of her tail bobbed up and down, a small sign of her nervousness about being in the presence of a pure gold. Slight nervousness. Having it feel like he was always judging her family made her just a little bit anxious when in his sights.

Gildenfire's glowing green eyes turned as the dragoness approached. There wasn't much in his forest he wasn't familiar with. Each sound he had memorized. He knew the difference between all the creatures calls. Every species of plant and how best to grow it. The memory of a dragon was an amazing thing.
But the extra sixteen sets of hoofbeats were still unfamiliar, he had not been able to differentiate between the four of them yet. But it was the youngest sibling. Kastrandrethilian, her name was fitting. If he remembered the sister's eldest brother had returned from a trip recently. He was surprise she was not with him and the other two. Gildenfire paused to greet the mare "How fares your family Kastrandrethilian?" he asked. Of all of them Kastra was the one who looked most familiar. Like a song dragon, or silver only her mane, the soft blue scales she possessed and unusual flame told of her strange mix breeding. The pure gold was not entirely comfortable with it but he endured. This too was his duty.
The Gold motioned with his wing to some of the broken wood as the forest had already begun to reclaim it. "forest has already begun to regrow, one only has to observe." he explained returning his focus back to the young dragoness he called her young but she was similar age to himself in fact. "The time will come to tend this area." he began to walk again "Come with me." he spoke calmly. He did have a task to do still, an extra pair of eyes may help him this time.

Kastra closed her eyes and nodded her head, wondering if he was just being polite or if their well-being was of concern to him. Dragons could be tricky, even to other dragons. And in her experience more with hybrids, she hadn't learned to distinguish a dragon's personality by its color. She couldn't understand what the color of one's scales had to do with anything. Did each color have a special cell that decided how one acted? Might explain why she was calmer than some of her relatives. With song and silver mostly in her genetics, there wasn't much room for the stronger personalities to mingle inside her.
Naw. That still made no sense.
"Adjusting," she answered, opening her eyes to watch him calmly. The dragoness looked down at the earth at her hooves, wondering at the words he had spoken. Of course. Forests were good for that. Regenerating itself after a disaster. Fire was a good cleanser for this. Break down the old and sick to make way for new and stronger plants. "I have noticed." In any other tone, this would sound sarcastic or snide. For Kastra, more like saying it was sunny or the clouds looked like rain.
Unsure of what more to say, the dragon mare raised her tail to follow the other.

Golden light danced off the dragon's scales as the light slipped through the canopy and made it's way to the forest floor. The Gold was pleased to hear they were all adjusting, as was he. His solitary life became rather lively with their entrance shortly after that of the maiden who also resided here.
He paused for a moment to see if the dragoness was following. There was an infection in the wood. Burrowing insects were beginning to infect the edges of the woods and sicken the trees. however if he could cleanse them in a controlled burn he could wipe them out before their hibernation. Winter was coming. Gilden began walking once more taking each step carefully also carrying his tail above the ground.
Nothing good came from the swamp where The black dragon resided. It's very presence poisoned the water swamps usually cleansed. The beatles turn the trees red as the leaves died. As they neared the edge of the forest the damage the beetles had done became more evident. Gilden had been marking the infected trees that needed to be burned.
"These beetles can consume a forest if not dealt with and controlled." he explained pulling back the bark from an infected tree revealing the black beetles inside.

Kastra followed quietly, feeling it good manners to wait for him to say something. Not that she had anything in mind to say at the moment. She was sure he didn't need anyone telling him what a beautiful forest it was and how great he was taking care of it. She couldn't remember having something like this of her own. Not surprising with the kind of fall she had had. It was amazing she still remembered who her family was and their mixed heritage. She certainly didn't remember knowing anything about dragon culture, so being in Gildenfire's presence was a bit nerve-wrecking for her. The dragoness didn't want to say or do something that would be considered rude in dragon culture. If dragon culture was any different than the common manners she had learned on her own.
When the stallion stopped to peel back the bark, Kastra made a little face, but stayed where she was standing. Insects had never been her favorite. The biting flies, the wiggling worms, and the stinging bees. She'd even been attacked by ants, once, after laying down too close to their nest. She had spent a week near the water and had refused to leave it. Of course, the water held it's own insects. They were still better than ants, flies, and bees.
The mare let her tail fall gently as she craned her neck for a closer look. She exhaled a small stream of fire that dissipated within a few inches of her muzzle, still a foot or two from the tree. For the second it was in the air, her silvery skin had been tinged with the pink color of her flames. She looked at Gildenfire expectantly at her little display, asking with her body language if that's what he meant. Destroy them the only way she knew how.

Gilden gave a light chuckle. yeah he'd heard of many who disliked insects. they were however an important part of the forest. The face Kastra made he couldn't help but find himself a bit amused. She was similar to him in a lot of respects, to be bothered by such insects. The golden wyrm watched her body language and Gildenfire gave Kastra a nod. She was correct, and she learned quickly. "A controlled burn would eliminate these insects." Though he stepped back for a moment. "Killing certain creatures is not always the case, most can be relocated." and other times parts would have to be left to die. It was the natural order of the forest. Certain creatures could make homes in fallen logs and other decaying parts of the forest. He Moved slightly out of the way so that she might better see the burrowing insects.
"I am going to mark the infected trees." he told the mare as he began carefully inspecting them carefully checking the trunks. He marked the odd one "Would you care to help?" he glanced over to the dragoness.

Kastra flattened her ears a little at the chuckle, wilting them more down to the sides than against the back of her head. She hadn't expected him to laugh. She wasn't sure how she felt about it, though she was sure he wasn't laughing at her. At least not in a malicious way. A bit of interaction with him wasn't about to chase away her feelings of being inferior to him. Just some half-breed while he was pure. That his being nice was just for show, just him trying to tolerate her very existence.
Still, it was nice. She wasn't so insecure that she was going to let these feelings of hers rule her. At least not too much. Just enough to keep a little distance on him in case her fears were realized.
"Yes. It is the least I could do." Wasn't her fault for destroying part of his forest with her fall. That didn't make her feel any less responsible for the damage.
