She hadn’t been powering up much since her first failed attempt at going up to Lutetia, and to be honest, it wasn’t as though she was really having the time to do so anyway. School had gotten busy with finals, and now the city was in full on Christmas mode, and Samantha was back at home living instead of in her dorm.

The best things about being home though were the food and the freedom. The food, well that was easy to see why it was the best. There was nothing like coming home and having food that was cooked by your mother, rather than by underpaid lunch staff who liked to make things all healthy and taste like dirt.

Freedom though, the best part of her freedom was based on the fact that she didn’t have to share a room, and that there was no homework and tests to study for, so here she was out and about as Lutetia again, walking the chilly streets of Destiny City.

Her hand was moving over her senshi phone and she had on her best poker face. Was it even worth trying? Or was it just going to end in failure again? Was there something she had missed the last time and that’s why she hadn’t been able to go back up there? But if she missed something, why wouldn’t there have been an error message or something. Anything to just tell her what she did wrong and how to fix it. She didn’t like being wrong or messing up, and she didn’t want to have to take that all powerful step and ask someone what she did wrong, so it was almost just better to ignore it.

So ignore it she would do. Lutetia threw her phone back into that strange place known as subspace and plopped down on a very cold bench, right into a pile of snow. “Crap!” It was very, very cold, and the teenaged chibi stood up quickly, trying to get it all off of her bottom, not even noticing the other order aura approaching, though if she had, she totally would have gone to say hello.

But right now it was much more important to make sure she didn’t look like she had wet herself.

"You know, I think if you power down and then back up, your fuku hits reset mode," Columba announced as she dropped in and adjusted her hat. She had been out on patrol for no reason other than to escape the obnoxious atmosphere of St. Mag's student lodging when she decided to hunt down the aura of a fellow chibi.

She wasn't expecting it to be a familiar chibi, but it was a nice surprise. Life had been lonely, and she certainly didn't appreciate being forced to board at the reform school simply because her dad didn't think she could be adequately controlled at home. Her surroundings had taken a shocking and sharp change, and a friendly face was welcome amidst all that stress.

"Hey, Lulu, how goes it?"

Lutetia’s head snapped up when she heard the voice and at once she put her hands over her wet bottom, not realizing at first that she did know who it was. When it finally dawned on her however, she gave the girl a blank look for a moment, before breaking into a grin. “Hey there! Long time no see!” She let her hands fall and laughed a little. “I didn’t realize there was snow on that bench, so. I didn’t pee myself or anything. You really think the fuku will just reset if I go back to being me?”

That was an interesting thought, but when she thought about it, it never changed much when she powered up into Lutetia, and she never smelled like body odor or anything like that, so they had to have some sort of magical cleaning effect.

For a moment, she thought this through and finally shrugged. “It’s a neat thought I guess.” The chibi took a good look at Columba and shook her head. “So, if you don’t mind me asking, why are you still a chibi? Shouldn’t you be over fourteen now? I’m over fourteen, but I guess I just haven’t been cool enough to become a real senshi yet, but you. You are about five times cooler than me, and more experienced, so I would have thought you could have done it by now.” She sighed. “And I was hoping that you could have shown me what to do, because I was seriously under the impression that when I turned fourteen I would just poof and become stronger and whatever, but when I spoke to a cat, she said that I have to go through some sort of ritual, and I can’t figure out what that ritual is supposed to be, so here I am.”

She looked back at the bench, and huffed, sitting back down, snow or not. “Do you visit your planet or star or whatever you have? I think that’s a pretty cool perk to this whole senshi stuff.” There was always good things to seeing someone that you had met before, even though it sometimes turned the awkward conversations into a whole lot of rambling.

“No!” Columba stopped her foot in a knee jerk, frustrated response, and then dialed it back a ton and flushed. “I mean, ugh, yeah, I’m still a chibi. I don’t get it, I’m the same age Irene was when she awakened and she’s a real senshi,” She picked at the sheer sash around her waist that marked her super ranking.

“It’s not fair. There has to be some way…”

She heaved a sigh and rolled her shoulders. “Whatever. I’ll figure it out eventually. Hey, what school do you go to now?” She had assumed Meadowview, y default, because that was where Columba herself had envisioned her glorious high school years occurring her entire school life only to have the carpet ripped away in one conversation with her dad. Now it was plaid skirts and Catholic school.

And that apparently took precedence over visiting her homeworld, but eventually Lutetia’s question sunk in and she just sort of blew it off. “Yeah, I visited it once. There was nothing there, really. Just a bunch of empty buildings and clouds. Some desks. S’pretty boring up there.” But it would be decidedly less boring if maybe a certain someone hung around long enough to figure out what it all meant. Columba had a short attention span, though. “What about you? Have you gone to see yours yet?”

Lutetia was just a little surprised with the outburst that Columba had, though she had to admit that the feeling was mutual. She wanted to be more than she was too. The whole comment about the situation being unfair was something she could truly agree on. It really wasn’t. If the powers at be thought that they had to be fourteen in order to be old enough or strong enough, why did it take a ritual or whatever to really get someone to become a true senshi?

It was hard enough getting past the whole magical powers thing without having the feeling that you weren’t good enough to be a real one. That was just a super drag.

She looked over towards Columba and gave a little grin. “I actually managed to get into Crystal on scholarship, so I’m pretty darn pleased with that. It’s so different, living in the dorms and being on my own. I like it a lot. What about you? Did you get into it too, or did you get stuck at Meadowview like you thought? How does orange look on you? I know you said you didn’t like it before.”

She nodded, though grew quiet for a moment. “I went up to my place once. And I tried to go again, but I must have done something wrong, because I couldn’t get up there, no matter how many times I tried.” Lutetia gave a small sigh and shrugged. “I’m going to try again though. I want to do my dumb ‘ritual’. I just want to be awesome. Like you and Tsui. I met another kid too, but he was kind of lame, so I want to be like the two cool people I’ve met. But mostly you. Since, we’re the most alike.” She winked and laughed.

“We’ll get there someday, I’m sure of it. We just have to keep trying, right? I’m going to keep trying. I’ll go up to Lutetia and figure out what I have to do with myself.” She tugged out a bit of her hair from under her cap and twirled it around her finger. “By the way Columba, your new outfit looks pretty damn awesome, if I do say so myself. Which, I do.”

"Nah," Columba said, kicking at the dirt under her sneakers at the question of going to Meadowview.

She was looking at the ground, pondering how to confess to her destined schooling and comment further on this 'ritual' she didn't know anything about. Frustratingly so. She wanted to ask Lutetia more about what she knew, since Columba hadn't ever really heard of needing a ritual to become a real senshi, but the anxiety of revealing her ignorance twisted in her stomach and made her silent, except for a little nod attempting to sagely appear to know what she was talking about.

Well, until Lutetia hit her with the unexpected compliment, and she felt her cheeks flush bright, hot red. "You think I'm cool?" She said, and jumped up to her feet. She rubbed the back of her neck with one hand and then tried to make it seem like she was stretching, giving a nervous laugh and trying not to seem flustered as Lutetia continued her statement.

"Of course! Yeah!" Columba agreed with a grin plastered on her flushed face.

"And you're pretty cool too. We'll figure it out, no worries. For sure!"

A goofy laughed escaped, and she spun around, looking over her shoulder at her own super fuku. "Thanks! Super senshi, but still chibi. But not for long. We're gonna kick some ritual a**!"

And then she looked up at the position of the moon, and then around as she realized how late it was. And she was making a blushing, flustered embarrassment of herself. "But I should probably get home tonight. But soon, yeah? Soon, we're totally gonna figger it out.Kay! See, Lulu!"

She gave an enthusiastic wave as she started to run off, nearly running into a lamp post and suavely pretending she meant to when she slid out of trajectory at the last second.
