Jocelyn was making her way into a new territory. She hadn't often ventured from the lands she knew well but horses had been moving to all new areas and she heard rumors of a hot spring. She knew that at some point a herd of some kind would move into that area, but she wanted to take a look before that happened and to maybe... Take a relaxing bath.

She glanced down with her crystal blue eyes at the map she was given. She was close, but the area had obviously changed since this map was created... where there 'should' have been a path, there was trees. Her ears twitched and she leaned forward hoping to see signs of some wear and she found it.

Gathering her map she edged herself between the trees and starting to slowly dodge trees and bushes following the barely see-able path. But it didn't take to long for the sounds of the water to ear her ears at the same time as the water's scent.

A stallion stood by the water's edge. The swirling pool had his attention and he hadn't noticed her approach. It was hot, but, he hoped, not nearly as hot as the pools up stream had been. Most days in recent times had brought with them cold weather, and he was longing to get warm, even if just for a little while.

Gingerly, he leaned forward, dipping a front hoof into the water. It was fine, he smiled, then looked back over his shoulder, "Hey! Chroma! I found one!"

Jocelyn had just emerged from the woods and was in the process of shaking off when the caught hit her ears and she jumped back spartled and stumbled, landing on her rump. "Aye..." She winced lightly and then looked over at the stallion. "I'm sorry~" She chided lightly. He had thought she was someone else which means there must be another horse near by. Her heart was beating hard in her chest from the surprise.

"I was just wandering by to see the hot springs." She laughed softly, working her way back to her hooves. She shook her head lightly to fix her dark mane and she looked over at the long haired male.

A small bird took off from it's perch, sending a small amount of snow drifting to the ground between them. Jase turned suddenly at the sound of a voice far more feminine than he'd been expecting. He caught sight of her just as she stumbled back, and smiled every so slightly as he started over to help her up.

"I'm sorry, did I startle you? I wasn't expecting to see such a beautiful mare wandering around up here in the mountains. As far as I knew it was just me and my friends," he glanced into the forest. "That noise just now was you approaching, and not Chroma then. Too bad. We've been looking for a hot spring cool enough to bath in all day. It was only just now that I found one that doesn't burn when I dip my leg in."

Jocelyn smiled as she listened to him. So he was here with friends, that must be lovely. That's not to say Jocelyn had no friends, but she traveled so much observing others that she didn't keep in touch as well as she should have been. But there was something about his voice that made her want to listen to him longer.

"Oh, I'm sorry I wasn't who you were expecting." She chimed feeling a bit bad that it was she who was there. He probably wanted to enjoy the water with his friends like he said. Not with some stranger. "I had heard about the hot springs myself, though, I wasn't aware that you could bath in them. Do they offer healing qualities?" She tilted her head, her eyes glancing to the steaming water. That background suited him well, the steam and sounds of the water even the forest around him.

"Oh, no," he said, turning away to lead her to the water's edge. "Don't you be sorry. I love it when kind strangers appear suddenly from the woods. My friends will be around here someplace. Chroma is probably scouting for mountain paths that us poor earthbound suckers haven't been able to reach yet," he laughed.

Turning back to the springs, he sighed, "Afraid none of my company knows enough about the healing arts to answer that question. We do have some hopes that they will prove to aid in healing but there's no way to be sure until we find someone who's more knowledgeable on the matter," he glanced back at her. "You wouldn't happen to be a healer now would you?"

Jocelyn looked over at him "So your friend can fly? Man, that must be useful. I get lost all the time and end up in the wrong places or not even on a path." She exhaled and remembered some of those instances. It's happened more often then she'd want to admit. Sometimes it was simply that she was lost in thought. But she has ended up in some dangerous situations.

"A healer? Well not exactly. However I have observed enough 'healers' in many different senses that I could manage. However I was never properly schooled. Though I would..." She blushed as she realized she started to ramble. She was naturally curious, she liked knowing about where others came from and their cultures. But she had a little bit of a weakness when it came to the healing/herbs. She was always curious on that. She was better then she gave herself credit for, but never properly taught.

"Sorry... Just by the scent it has some minerals that could heal depending on the ailments of course. "

"If only you understood the number of times his wings have saved us days and days of marching," he laughed. "His desire to join us on the expedition has been a real lifesaver."

He reached the edge of the water and dipped his foreleg back into the warm water, "Sounds like you have more knowledge than I do, please, go on. We're settling here and anything you might know or suspect about the area would be invaluable. My name is Jase, by the way. What would be the name of my new friend?"

The mare nodded as she listened to him. Wings... The stallion in which he spoke seemed very well spoken of. She would like to meet him some day, he seemed like a very good guy. She hooved the ground lightly and walked forward.

"My name is Jocelyn, it's nice to meet you Jase." She glanced at him with her crystal blue eyes and then looked down at the water and sniffed it again before taking a small drink from it.

"Hm.. Well the area in general looks good, you can tell if the water offers helpful things by the type of vegetation that grows around it. Things like those flowers and berries. If you get one that has thrones then it'll not be to good to use that water for anything other then maybe a quick bath, or drinking. However it doesn't offer healing properties." She nodded to herself and glanced upwards as she thought.

"However, see how close that plants are to the water? That means the water is 'clean' meaning drinkable. If the plants seem wilted or there's something without 5 feet, then you should avoid drinking the water. If you're planning to reside here I would recommend putting up signs for the pools. Otherwise drinking bad water could cause illness." She then noticed his leg in the water and followed his lead putting hers in. Oh... It was indeed warm.

He eyed the plants at the side of the pool as she spoke. It was true, the vegetation here was vibrant and healthy. If his memory served him then the vegetation along the rest of the pools he'd visited had been much the same.

"Good," he nodded, as he slid down into the waters. "Jocelyn? The pleasure's mine. I have a feeling you happening upon the springs today will prove to be as much value as Chroma's own contributions. If only for that little gem."

The water was warm, a welcome break from the chilly air outside, "Come in. We found a cave near by that's kept warm by the springs, we can swim without fear of freezing."

Jocelyn felt herself puff up with happiness. He said that she contributed something of value! She nodded and made to join him in the water when her hoof settled on the smooth slippery surface of the rocks... She should have known better, from all the other times. Without much of a warning...

"Yi--" She chirped as she felt head first into the pool... It wasn't overly deep where she landed thank the light, but she didn't flounce for a few moments before putting the ground under her again. Her head popped out of the water, her mane pulled straight and stream rose off her.

She was silent for a moment and then... "Better go head first when you really put your mind to something!" The mare laughed and shook herself lightly. Thank goodness the water was warm though. She could feel her muscles already starting to relax.

"I hope I didn't get you to wet." She spared him a side glance, a small blush sitting on her cheeks. She was embarrassed about slipping.. She just seemed to be to clumsy sometimes.

Had waded out into the small pool when she slipped and was belly deep in water. He froze, not able to rush back in time to catch her or make any other heroic gesture. Instead he just wound up standing there, feeling like a fool.

When she sat up he laughed and waded back over to her side, "Of all the things to worry about! I would be fine even if you did splash me some. Are you aright though? I'm very sorry, I should have warned you about those slippery rocks."

She cleared her throat lightly and smiled at him lightly shaking her head. "I'm perfectly fine, nothing to worry about here. I tend to get in over my head quite often." She laughed again before and pawed at the bed of the spring. It was sturdy, not muddy but also not to gravelly.

"Wow, I've never been in a hot spring before, sure I've studied them, but..." She pressed her lips together and started to walk around examining the spring. She jumped a couple times in place here and there started to get absorbed into what she was seeing. She was able to finally connect some of the dots of what she had seem and knew. Different herds used springs for different ailments but but the constants that over lapped... It was amazing what 'doing' could do! She had always just watched from a distance.

It wasn't until she bumped into Jase that she realized she fell into a zone and forgotten all about him being there. She wasn't even to sure how much time had actually passed. She looked up at the stallion her lips parted as if she wanted to say something but nothing came out. She had done it again, he would think she was so weird for doing that!

Jase had been quite content to watch the new mare as she explored the pool. He'd been working hard along with his companions as of late, and felt that it was well within his rights to stop for a while to relax and take in the rather attractive scenery.

He'd been low in the water when she approached, and it really was no small wonder that as enthralled by the pool as she was she wasn't at all watching where she went. When she began approaching, he moved a little to make sure she'd bump into him, and when she did, he let out a laugh.

"Careful, or you'll stumble again. You were lucky last time, but I still don't want to see a pretty mare like yourself getting scraped and bruised," he was teasing a bit, and gently nudged her neck with his nose.

Jocelyn tilted her head lightly and gave him a small smile. He was saying such nice things, it made her feel warm to be at the receiving end of them. She hadn't spent much time with stallions in this kind of sense, making a lot of this new to her.

"Y-you mentioned you and your companions were looking to settle in the area? Are you a large herd?" She asked quietly, feeling his nose against her neck, She let the gentle nudge shift her just a bit. Her mane starting to re-curl itself as it dried. "Have you traveled far to get here?" She worked on settling herself to the spot that she was standing to avoid to much fidgeting. But she couldn't help but notice that he was just a bit taller then her. And it was as she was looking him over that she realized what she doing. Quickly glancing away as a small blush crept across, how could she be so rude to check him out to obviously. Her ears flicked forward hoping that it escaped his attention.

While his vantage point made it difficult to see her blush, he did notice the shift in her posture. Was she uncomfortable? He doubted it, unsure maybe? He lingered on the touch for a moment before going to lay in a shallow portion of the pool, his head just above the water.

"My companions? Three, besides myself. Two who journeyed here with me, and a third we met on the way. They're all fine stallions, though I have to admit, I've grown a bit tired of looking at stallions."
