"Alright, everyone! Hello! I am Mr. Paloveer and I will be substituting for your current music teacher until the end of the week, since she's out sick with the flu. I'm sure you've all seen me before, grading papers, tutoring, and being generally all over the classroom during the week, However, since she didn't quite leave me any notes about what the next step in the class was going to be, I think today would be a good day to do some improvised Merry Making, seeing that the holidays are coming up soon! Go on and pick your favorite instrument from up along the back of the room, and bring them to your seat. If you need any help, let me know!"
Maybe most teachers wouldn't find it intimidating being infront of a bunch of bright eyed children, but to Ulane, it seemed like such a hard thing to do! One on one, yes, it was easy! He could focus his attention on just the one child, giving them all the support they needed at that very moment. But when it came to a classroom of about twenty students.. That was a whole nother story. But this was his moment to shine! His first moment of actually being in charge of an entire classroom, not just a few stragglers in the back. And it was just as exhilarating as it was frightening.
Ulane didn't let that fear grip him for long, instead, he went to his feet, following the crowd of students gather towards the back, gathering their chosen instrument. Glockenspiels and triangles seemed to be the chosen favorite for today. There was one little girl who wanted to use the giant drum tucked away quietly in a corner, but he somehow managed to talk her out of it. So far, this was working out quite nicely. If anyone needed his help, he was openly offering it, smiling as each student made their way back to their seats.

Winston loved music class it was one of the only time where he could be as loud as he wanted without being yelled at. He also loved that he could play almost every instrument, well not really but everyone made a sound so in his head he was able to play all of them. Well expect the flute, he wasn't sure why he couldn't produce a sound out of it but it never fail to stay silent.
He waited in his seat, squirming waiting for the teacher to enter. As the teacher enter a big smile came to his face. A new teacher and a guy! He could the superman of music. Oh! Maybe he could even teach him how to produce a sound on the flute then he would have master all of them! He started to wiggling in his seat in his excitement. He watched as the other 8 year olds began to do the same thing. He had fond out that a lot of people enjoy music class for the same reason.
When Mr. Paloveer told everyone that they could grab their favorite instrument, Winston was off in a rush. His favorite was the trumpet, it had a cool sound and he could buzz his lips to make a sound. He rush up and grabbed the second and last one and smiled. He wanted to try the flute but the teacher did say to pick his favorite so he couldn't just say no. He watched a lot of other students gabbed triangles and glockenspiels and chuckles to himself. He thought they were wimpy instrument. Trumpet made way for people to know that superheros were coming and that's what he was. He gentle bounce back to his seat and stated to fiddle away on it.

One by one, Ulane passed by the students, speaking with each one about their choice of instrument, and asking them to play a little something for him. Some knew exactly what they were doing, other's did not, just happily playing them in any way they wanted. To each one, he taught them a little bit of the tune of Carol of the Bells, allowing them to practice the tune. That was a good little tidbit for them to learn. Repetitive, and pretty, and simple to do. Soon enough, he came up to little Winston, looking at his choice of instrument, and very much found himself glad that he re-sanitized all of the instruments this morning, not wanting a single one of his students to come me out of this sick.
"Hello Winston!" Luckily the attendance sheet for the class had all of their pictures beside them, and He was able to remember the names of his students rather quickly. "I see you chose the Trumpet. Can you play something for me?"
Finding out Winston's ability with this instrument would determine what part he would give him to play. And with each student, after assessing their abilities, he'd ask them what they wanted out of this class. First things first, however!

As the teacher came he gave him a big smile, since this was on of his favorite classes and he did have his favorite instruments. "Hiya Mr. Paloveer! How are you? Do you like the Trumpet as well? It's my favorite instrument so that why I picked it!" he said with a little giggle.
This was typical for Winston actually. He had too much energy and couldn't keep on one topic for too long so most of the time when he spoke to teacher he would spill out tons of question before doing the thing they actually asked him, but that was ok right because you know he was only 8.
"Sure I can Mr. Paloveer!" he said with a smile. And with that he pressed his lips against the trumpet and made his lips do the buzzing thing that he had taught. It wasn't the best but it's wasn't bad either. He had practice this before as he was thinking about taking up the trumpet as a full thing. He was approving at a very good rate, for a child that is.

To be simply put, there was just something very entertaining watching just a little kid work over that brass instrument like he did! And it seemed like there was nothing but pure joy in his little heart. It was one of those things that just made being a teacher feel so much more worth it.
"That was wonderful, Winston! Where did you learn how to play a bit already? Did you have a teacher, or perhaps did you just fiddle around with it before, like.. Learn by ear?"
bunnyilove It's fine fine fine fine! Sorry for the short post!
