She'd managed to get more sleep than usual, considering some of the hard nights she'd had recently. Between her own nightmares, Finn's inability to sleep, and worrying about him, it was amazing she'd gotten as much sleep as she did. Which was probably why she also woke up much earlier than she wanted.
Sighing, Fini wasn't going to just waste the time starting off into space - though there was always enjoying the time with Finn - and really, she was feeling restless now.
So a quick rinse off in the shower, jeans and a t-shirt later, Fini was tying her hair up and out of her face while examining the training dummies. She chose the one that looked the least abused, imagining certain people's faces to be on it. And then began practicing without her weapon, as one couldn't always rely on your weapon all the time. kurotomato ur welcome :B also rolling now to get it out of the wayyyy

He supposed there were better things to be done than stand around making life miserable for his brother; and he also supposed that, if he were being perfectly logical, training was one of those things.
Though the last thing Alistaire wanted was to be on the grimy, dirty training field. Still, he made his way carefully across them one particular morning, dressed in a pair of dark slacks, a neatly pressed button-down shirt, and a pair of black gloves that stretched over his fingertips. Not the most ideal of clothes, but he wasn't about to settle for less.
The grounds were currently occupied, however, though not by anyone Alistaire was familiar with. He cocked an eyebrow at the young woman and then a smirk spread across his face as he drew nearer.
Inside of his head, Grim was making low growling noises.
"Good afternoon," said Alistaire.

It wasn't uncommon to have someone wind up wandering down to the training fields. So she wasn't surprised to suddenly have someone else there. No, what surprised her was the man himself. Who she frowned at.
"I swear if you throw mud at me again, I'll ******** kick your a**!" She threatened, about the same time Vashi made a curious sound in her mind.
Fini paused in any further threats, really getting a look at him. He was very similar to Ian. In fact they could possibly have been twins (to a degree). But the expression on this man's face was not one she was familiar with on Ian's... well okay that wasn't true. But Finn wasn't around being an a** so there was no reason for Ian to make that face.
She crossed her arms lightly along her chest, looking him over slowly. "Ah... pardon me. I thought you were someone else." My bad probably wasn't appropriate to say either. "I'm Infinity. Who might you be?"

Alistaire slowed his steps to a stop, arching a brow. It took him a moment, but then the pieces clicked into place, and he resisted the very strong urge to roll his eyes. "I'm not overly fond of mud myself," he said lightly, sliding his hands into the pockets of his pants, the bracelets around his wrists clinking gently.
He smiled, thought it didn't quite meet his eyes. "Alistaire," he said, though he did not offer his hand to her to shake. "I'm assuming you probably assumed I was my brother, Ian? We do often get mistaken for each other," he added, with a thoughtful sort of voice.
Shifting his feet a little, Alistaire said, "What brings you to the field today?"

She gave him a sheepish grin, feeling only slightly guilty over snapping at him. His smile, though, was all too familiar and instantly put Fini on her guard. Not that she wasn't pleasant enough to him. Now that she knew he wasn't Ian.
"Be glad you were not around for the island tournament then." Fini said loftily, giving him a friendly grin. "So you're Alistaire? And Ian is your brother." She had to laugh at that. "Sorry about that."
She loved you, Ian. Really.
"I can assure you it won't happen again." It probably would, but she could at least be polite, right? "As for me," Fini shrugged. "I needed to get a bit of practice in that didn't involve relying on my weapon all the time."
She eyed him. "What about you?"

"Island tournament?" Alistaire raised a brow. "Sounds...interesting."
"interesting" was said with the same sort of inflection one might say disappointing or disgusting or pathetic, Alistaire glancing around the training field once more before letting his gaze settle on Infinity. She was not quite what he had expected, but he let that slide for now.
"My younger brother, yes," said Alistaire, the same not-quite-friendly smile on his face. He let his eyes fall on the dual sais in her hands, and Alistaire felt the clink of metal against his own wrists.
"Feel up to having a moving target?" he asked.

'Interesting' was one way to put it, she guessed. That was not quite how she would phrase it. Though her version would be a lot more crude, to say the least. "Yeah. It was a big tournament thrown for all of us to participate in. See how we fared against one another, I guess." Fini shrugged. "Really, it was a long day full of battles, rain, and mud."
Yeeeep. This one was definitely like Finn. Void of emotion, full of smiles that didn't match his expression. Fini could only sigh.
:: Maybe they can be princess buddies? :: Vashi mused.
Huh. Now that he mentioned it, Fini noticed the rather... nice clothing he wore. Definitely not something she would expect to see on the training fields! Great. Another diva then.
"Younger, is he?" Her lips quirked up. "I'll have to give him crap for it." And other things. "And sure, why not? So long as you don't mind getting a little dirt on your fancy and pristine clothes there~" Oh yes, she was being sassy with you, Alistaire.

The mention of dirt made him mentally recoil, but Alistaire had long since learned to hide most of his emotions away beneath carefully constructed facades. Instead, he merely gave the girl a polite smile, albeit a slightly forced one, and lifted his hands.
The delicate chain-link bracelets around both wrists shimmered slightly and then disappeared, dissolving into white light. A long, heavy metal chain appeared instead in his palms, the links clinking together noisily as he lifted them, reaching for the daggers dangling from the ends.
"Ready when you are," Alistaire said lightly.

She watched patiently as he summoned his weapon, listening to the hum from her own as he appraised their opponent for the day. Vashi definitely did not like him. But then, he didn't like Finn ninety-eight percent of the time either.
His weapon, it seemed, could be used as a close range or a long ranged weapon. Which would make battling tricky yet... exciting.
"We'll see." Fini murmured, flashing him a cheeky grin before moving in swiftly, passing him on the side before twisting around to strike towards his back.

The chains were slightly awkward to manage at first, dragging across the training field as Alistaire tested their weight. Grimshaw made a soft growl of encouragement in his head that was reassuring and Alistaire gave Fini a smile that did not entirely reach his eyes again.
The sais managed to glance over his side, and he gave a slight hiss of annoyance, rather than pain, Alistaire twisting his body to accommodate. He swung the knives, the chains cutting through the air, and aimed a blow at her arm, metallic clinking in his ears.
"So," he said conversationally. "How long have you been here on the island?"

There was an annoyed snarl in her mind as the blow merely glanced off Alistaire's side. And then Fini was trying to step back to avoid the chain coming at her. She hated weapons like these. It made things so difficult. But a good challenge was much appreciated. Her arm stung a bit from where she'd been hit, but Fini only smiled.
"Me? Let's see... " She flipped her sais so the sword half was parallel to her arms. "I think just about two years now?" That was about right, she thought.
Not willing to stay still in one place for long, Fini moved swiftly to engage Alistaire again, throwing a few quick slashes at him from the front. "And you, I'm assuming, just got out of the pods very recently? Enjoying Deus yet?"

He had to give her some small credit; the girl was, at the very least, not the stereotypical whiny kind that thought fighting was something to squeal obnoxiously about and give halfhearted swipes. Fini was showing no hesitation in her attacks and Alistaire found this to be refreshing, rather than the irritation he normally would have held for her.
"Two years is a long time," he said, and swung the chains around, the barest flinch passing across his face as her swords glanced across his chest. He gripped the daggers tighter, trying to resist the urge to wipe off his torso where they had touched him. "I've only been out about two weeks myself."
Grimshaw made an approving noise inside of his head. Alistaire smirked a little. " 'Enjoying' is perhaps not the right word, but I do certainly find this place...interesting."
He swung a glancing blow at her arm. "Tell me about the people here," said Alistaire mildly. "Are there any to be avoided? Any to seek out?"

There was, perhaps, only one or two people on the whole island that Fini may have ever considered pulling her hits with. Alistaire was not one of them. She fought him with the same intensity she'd used during the tournament. Or that she might use on the battlefield. It was the fairest way to battle.
"That it is." She murmured, pushing against his hold until he swung his weapon at her again. Fini felt the slight sting against her arm again, twisting just out of the way of the rest. "Really? Only two weeks?" Fini gave him a curious look. She had to wonder if he had any idea what he'd truly gotten himself into? Or would get a rude awakening, like Finn had.
Fini laughed, giving him points there. The island was definitely 'interesting'. And not always in a good way. Taking a few swift steps forward, she struck at Alistaire again with Vashi.
"Stay the ******** away from Caelius." She said without hesitation. "He's unhinged. Allan is... strange, but you'll probably find he's a good lead." Fini thought a little about the people in general. "Careful who your enemies are. You'll never know who has to watch your back."

Alistaire wrapped one end of Grimshaw's chains around his hand, looping the links several times. "Two weeks is an eternity for some and a fleeting moment for others," he said cryptically. "Or a combination of both, I suppose, depending on what sort of person you are."
For him, at the very least, it was closer to the latter; Alistaire had barely scratched the surface of what he needed to.
One eyebrow arched as he took several steps backwards to avoid the brunt of Fini's next swing. "Caelius," Alistaire repeated, rolling the name over on his tongue. "A curious name. Unusual. I take it he's not someone to mess around with?"
A faint smirk touched his lips. "I don't worry about that sort of thing," he said lightly, and swung the knives again, grazing her side. "I merely take trust entirely out of the equation as it is."

Fini considered what he said and had to agree. "Fair enough." She said, silently adding on that it also depended on the circumstances she supposed.
She tried to avoid the next swing, but the feel of her Fear shield compressing on her side informed her she'd not managed this. And then she snorted, a dark look flashing along her face. "Only if you want to end up dead, then sure. Screw with him."
And then she was all smiles and teasing again. Though she did give Alistaire an interesting look. Definitely not someone she would be trusting then.
"I guess that's one way to do it." Fini said mildly, twisting around to stab and slash at him. "Though that's kind of like cheating too." She teased.
