This is a private roleplay between Sandsablaze and Alarion (Kyrieko) and Sunchaser (FallenThroughMidnight)! *Note: Alarion is being played as a filly for some backlogged RP!

As was now becoming routine, Sandsablaze would rise early (no earlier than usual, really), nudge his young daughter awake, and show her how to find the best grass to eat. And once they had their fill, he would then teach her to find water for them to drink. Or more specifically, water that was fresh enough to not make them sick. Because their lifestyle was not one bound to a herd or territory. They were wanders. Traveling all around the Kawani lands to explore new areas and meet new Soquili.
However he would usually bring them back to the base of the mountains before traveling a little ways into the desert region. It was harsher climate, but Sandy found he was rather fond of it. But with a filly tagging along, he did not wish to make her suffer. Though Alarion did not seem to mind it.
Today was special. Sandy had risen earlier, nudging Alarion awake so that they could get a head start on the day. He knew this area somewhat. Had been through several times. The plains were not as exciting as some of the other places he had been, but Sandy liked them. Found them peaceful at times. Just not when he had a foal to keep a watchful eye on. It was his hope, however, to find a certain particular mare in this area.
She was tired of walking! Dad just didn't take into consideration the funny appendages she had to carry around and their extra weight (which was a lie and she didn't feel the weight of them hardly at all)! And everything exciting they had passed he'd nudged her on, not letting her play.
"Daaaaaad!" Alarion whined, leaning heavily against his hind leg. "I want to plaaaay! Can I? Please please pleaseeee?!"
Huffing a sigh, Sandy looked down at the filly, giving her a sweet smile. "Alright. You can play. We'll rest here then. Does that sound good?"
Maybe, if he was lucky, the mare he was seeking would wander across his field of vision. Maybe.
The answer to his question was a loud neigh as the filly dashed off, wings flapping awkwardly as she jumped through the longer grass and raced around.

It was lucky for Sandsablaze that the mare he was looking for was so very easy to spot when she entered an area. She just took up so much space. None of her was built on a small scale, from her heavy hooves, to her broad shoulders, thick neck, and blocky muzzle she had been composed of large, square sweeps and, while it was a joke when she said it, the idea that the massive mare might have actually had bear blood somewhere in her lineage might not seem all that farfetched. Her pace was calm and slow, each step almost ponderous when she watched the horizon line stretch out and out so far away. Her steps had to be slow though, should she step on someone it could cause them great harm. And some smaller creatures built there nests in the grass of the plains. At least in the woods there was a greater chance that the babies would be safely below ground or up a tree, where her large hooves were little threat to them.
She could move when she had to though, or wanted to. And when the silhouette out along the plains struck her as familiar, her pace quickened to a thundering trot as she rushed to see her friend. It was not a race, and a gallop would be too fast for her to avert her feet should something, or someone, risk being trodden on. But it was so good to see him. He traveled, just as she did, but he traveled in different directions. They still met often enough that she could count him as one of her very closest companions, but the time between those meetings always seemed too long.
“Sandy,” Sunny called, a laugh working its way into her voice as she drew near enough to speak, provided extra volume was added to the words. It was more of a shouting-distance sort of thing. “My word, how have you been?”

Said lucky stallion was lazily swaying back and forth with the light breeze that toyed with the plains fauna. His gaze followed along after the pale filly that popped up intermittently through the taller grass, ears alert as he listened to the sounds of her giggling. A soft smile spread along his features as he watched his daughter - a concept that was still new and exciting to him! - when he caught sight of movement. Instantly the stallion shifted from lazy to alert. Until he recognized that familiar form.
Laughing, he trotted towards the large mare, moving at a slower pace so he did not lose Alarion. "Sunny!" The stallion slowed until he was at a stop, awaiting the mare. He was so happy to see her! And glad that she had been in this area.
"I have been quite well, dear one. How have you faired?" Sandy took a step back, admiring her large build. "I don't see any injuries on you, so clearly you're doing well!" He teased, moving forward to bump his nose against her shoulder. "You must tell me of any new tales you've overheard or have to share from your travels! And I have quite the... unique one to share with you."
Alarion wasn't quite sure what was happening, but she was hunkered down in the taller grass, peeking out curiously. She'd felt the reverberations of those thunderous trot. It had surprised her and confused her. And then someone had been yelling and her father had taken off too.
Except there was a large mare standing with dad. And the shy little filly inched closer, wings not helping her creep through the grass. Darn things! They were in the way!

Kyrieko Holidays are busy days, at least I got a decent Sandy/Filly/Sunny post for you heart For a moment it seemed as though the large mare's momentum would carry her into her friend, but she slowed her pace enough that digging in her hooves brought her to a proper stop rather than slamming into the stallion. Sunny wasted no time in returning the small nudge Sandy gave her shoulder, rubbing her cheek against his neck affectionately and blowing bits of his mane out of her face, and maybe just a little out of place, as she did so. How he kept that much mane neat in the first place was beyond her, she rather suspected some of the braids in hers might or might not have grown into knots since she last had a friend to help her with it. Perhaps she would be better having the lot of it hacked off, but it was such fun to tuck pretty little feathers in. And beads, where else would she keep the little beads she'd been given? They were such lovely little presents, and so sweet and thoughtful too. They matched her eyes, or so the sweet little critter who'd found them for her had said. She didn't see her eyes all that frequently, she used them for seeing. It didn't seem to work very well the other way around and trying to examine herself too closely always made her eyes hurt after a while. But Sandy, oh, he was a sight for sore eyes!
“No, no new scars for me this time. None on you either I hope?” she replied, smiling brightly as she looked her friend over. He seemed well. No patchy clumps of fur or bald spots from where something might have tried to take a swipe at him, and no visible streaks of blood. He hadn't lost weight, so it seemed unlikely that he was sick or had been terribly ill. So the separation had just been one of travels again, not of injury or illness. And that was good. Friends might cross paths and they might share them, but no matter how far they wandered apart they would still be friends when they met once again.
She laughed at what he said, “There is always something new to tell, though I'm afraid this time it might not be of particular interest to you. No daring rescues of damsels, or young stallions, in distress, no great battles or eerie caverns. I expect I'd get stuck in a cavern, eerie or not,” Sunny mused, glancing over her thick shoulder at the rest of her general bulk. “I suppose my spotty golden rump sticking out of it would make the place a good deal less eerie though, unless someone cracked a rib or two laughing too hard.” But Sandy, it seemed, had a story to tell her. “I'm sure you've something far more interesting than pretty fields and crystal-blue lakes.” Her ear flicked, and she cast a glance at the sound before turning her attention back to her friend with a grin. “I don't suppose it has anything to do with that cute little rustle in the grass?”

There was no fear in the stallion as he watched the larger mare move as swiftly as she could towards him. He knew Sunny. She wouldn't run into him. And if she happened to skid and bump him, it would only have been in amusement and all planned. So he waited for her to stop, ears perked up and a pleased look about his features. It was always so nice to see a dear friend! And Sunny was one of his dearest. She looked to be doing well, he noted, now that she was close enough for him to get a good look over of the mare. Mane still short as he remembered, with the little braids he thought suited her well. His own mane had probably grown a tad bit longer and he'd picked up a new trinket or two. Of course the most precious thing he'd picked up was hiding in the grass off to their side. Sandy just had to chuckle at the filly.
Sandy shook his head, glancing over his own hide too. "None that I am aware of." He chuckled, tail swishing lazily behind him. Taking care of himself and his appearance was something he tried to be vigilant with. "I am pleased to hear you have not gained any new scars either." And she looked fantastic, in his opinion.
He laughed at the words his friend spoke, the mental image of Sunny being stuck in a cavern both amusing and alarming. He really didn't want her to get stuck like that! "I'm sure your spotty golden rump would be rescued quickly enough." Sandy chuckled, bumping her side with his nose. "Alas, I fear you've found me out. I do indeed have a fascinating story to share." His gaze flicked over to the 'rustle in the grass'. "My dear Sunchaser, I want to introduce you to someone special. Alarion, come here sweet."
She froze when her father looked towards her and the other mare had glanced in her direction. The little winged filly hunkered down as low as she could until Sandy was calling her. Very hesitantly Alarion rose to her feet, big green pupilless eyes staring at the large mare. Her wings were awkwardly flailing about until they settled along her back. Creeping forward, she went straight to her father's side, leaning against him shyly and peeking around at the other.
"Don't be so shy, Alarion." Sandsablaze chuckled, lowering his head to nuzzle his daughter. "Sunny, allow me to introduce you to my daughter, Alarion." He gave the little filly a nudge, who squeaked and flattened herself to his side. "Alarion, sweet. This is my good friend Sunchaser."
She stared some more, rubbing her cheek against her father's leg. But she was inching closer. "H-Hello!" Alarion managed to squeak out, the crown of feathers atop her head rising.

Sunny chuckled, amused as Sandy was by the image of herself sticking out of a cave. “It would be quite a sight! I'm sure someone would be just as likely to laugh as to help!” But that was fine. Laughter was a good thing. If she could make someone laugh, even if it were over something like getting herself wedged in a crevice and needing a hoof getting unwedged, then it was fine with her. She nudged him back when he bumped her flank with his nose, perhaps a bit harder than she intended as she was still giggling a bit. It was such a silly thing, but silly things were fun. Almost as fun as meeting an old, dear friend unexpectedly out of the clear, bright blue of the beautiful, beautiful sky. Today was a good day, by far and with no doubts! Any day she caught up to someone she cared about so much was, especially when they were happy and well too.
As he spoke, saying he wished to introduce her to someone special, Sunny shifted to give him space to breathe, a big mare like her bumping his shoulder could definitely qualify as an affectionate, harmless invasion of personal space. Besides, the little rustle in the grass might be shy, which could explain the little rustlings and the hiding in the grass. If the little rustle was more comfortable tucked in close to Sandy, then it was her pleasure to give said little rustle space to do that.
And what a cute little rustle it was! “Hello Alarion,” Sunny said, her features split with a warm smile as she lowered her head slightly to get a better look at the filly. “What beautiful eyes you have!” So very unique, the feature must come from her mother because Sandy's did not hold that quality. The color, however, wasn't a far cry from her father's. Nor was the sandy color of a few of her pretty little feathers, though the fact that they were feathers were surely from her mother's influence as well. Sunny couldn't help but wonder where the mare might be, and she glanced curiously at Sandy though she didn't ask. Heavens knew, it might be something terrible and tragic and certainly she was not going to randomly bring it up in front of the sweet little filly. “My name is Sunchaser, but my friends call me Sunny. Like your father. I hope we can be friends too.” She managed not to laugh at the way the filly's feathers puffed up on her head, she was pretty sure it was happening out of nerves or something. Little animals often fluffed up when they were frightened of something. Laughing, while almost always a good thing, probably would not help here. She would have to amend her previous thoughts on the matter.

He shook his head, stilling picturing poor Sunchaser sticking partially out of a cave. "Ah, but at least I don't have to worry about anyone just walking away and leaving you. You're too much of a darling for anyone to do that." Sandy gave his friend a gentle nuzzle, knowing that he always worried about her even though she could handle herself. Something she proved unintentionally just then with her own return nudge. The stallion laughed even more, taking a step to the side as he swished his tail. See? He didn't need to worry. Yet he still did anyways.
Said little 'rustle' was not sure what to think of the larger mare. Her father's little nudge only made her duck her head more shyly, though as the mare - who introduced herself as Sunchaser - spoke more, Alarion crept a little closer. And the compliment about her eyes had her perking up a bit more... including her crest feathers. "R-Really? You like them?" She asked with a grin, little tail flicking back and forth as her wings settled more comfortably against her back again.
"Then... I can call you Sunny too?" Did that mean they were friends? She didn't have any friends. The filly inched a little closer to sniff at Sunny, tilting her head to see just how tall the mare was. Bigger than her father for sure!
A fond smile slipped along Sandy's features as he watched his little one, a glance up at Sunchaser showing just how happy he surprisingly was. "Eyes as unique as her mother." He murmured, ears falling back a bit in a slightly embarrassed look. "It would appear that even I can still fall under the spell of a tempting enchantress." Sandy said in way of 'explanation'. Which really didn't equate to his meeting of Kal and finding he quite enjoyed the mare's company. And then one thing lead to another and a fling later... he had a beautiful daughter to raise. "Alarion is, unfortunately, beginning to reach that age I believe they want to test their wings out." At this, Sandy sighed heavily. "I may have to consider finding her lessons from a Wind at some point." FallenThroughMidnight OMG I am so sorry this one took me forever and a day to reply to! ;;
