Al-Janah was looking for pages, but he was looking for pages in a distracted, wandering sort of way, making his way across the city from one end to the other more because it was something to do than because he actually wanted to complete his goals. Energy signatures lit up on the edge of his focus, but mostly they were too strong to be worth bothering -- or too chaos.

The crash of metal against metal, booming as it landed on the pavement, made him hesitate -- pausing on the edge of the roof and taking in the energy signature. When he approached it was slow, wary. He'd had a couple run-ins with Negaverse lieutenants and, in this moment, he didn't feel like dealing with that bag of worms. It was too damned cold --

Amytis had really thought she was getting used to this Senshi thing. She'd trained, she could Mirrorwalk, she could fight - but apparently she could be defeated by the power of a bad landing on the heels of her boots.

She had been leaping fairly nicely down from a roof, when her foot caught just wrong and her ankle bent in a way it was not supposed to and she ended up crashing into a bunch of garbage cans. She was sprawled out among them, her ankle throbbing, and she was vaguely aware of another Dark Mirror aura. Great, there was someone else from her Court near here. Wonderful.

"Ow, ow, ow, ow, ow, stupid boots!"

A gentleman would drop down to extend the poor girl a hand, to help her back up to her feet, without laughing or poking fun. However, Al-Janah was no gentleman -- and instead he settled on the edge of a nearby roof to look down at her, a laugh bubbling up out of him as he took in her sprawled position. She looked a mess, and ally or not, he couldn't help the amusement.

And, of course, karma would get him back for it. After a moment, he eased down off the edge of the roof, finally deciding to help her out, only to land crooked on some piece of trash.

His own feet went out from under him and he landed hard enough to knock the breath out of him some. He couldn't help it now, either; he kept laughing.

Amytis could hear him laughing above her, and she was all set to get good and angry - except he, too, ended up sprawled on the ground, and she ended up laughing instead, right along with him. She pushed herself halfway up, shaking her head a little.

"You alright?" She asked, between giggles because okay, yeah, this really was pretty funny.

"Heels." It came out, a bit gasping, between bubbling laughs; Al-Janah struggling to catch his breath, slowly working his way up to a sitting position and then, carefully, to stand. Testing his ankle, and then relaxing. He hadn't twisted or sprained anything in the fall. Just a couple bruises, they'd be gone by tomorrow.

"They're smaller than they used to be, at least. Maybe they'll melt away entirely..."

Amytis finally stood, checking her boots to make sure neither of her heels were broken. "They're the worst, aren't they? Ugh, I dunno if I want these because they make me taller or if I want them gone because walking in them is hard."

She offered him a hand. "Sailor Amytis," she said.

"Al-Janah" It was easy, taking her hand -- and then he paused, with a flicker of a grin. Unaware that he had a paper McDonald's wrapper stuck to one leg, and maybe indifferent, he smoothed a palm over the tousled mess of his hair.

"Super Al-Janah." It was a joke. Maybe. Or maybe not. He shook his head at her. "Are you new?"

"Ooh, Super," Amytis's tone was playful, "I'm very impressed. Took a prestige class?" The joke had slipped out without a thought. She was impressed, at least a little, but it was hard to be serious when they'd both just been on the ground thanks to clumsiness. "Uh, I am kind of new, though." She exhaled. "I was Awakened back in April, but I left the city for a while and only got back into town recently and started getting...back in the game."

The joke got a genuinely surprised blink out of Al-Janah, and then a sudden flash of a smile. Maybe he simply hadn't met enough of his fellow court, but the fact that someone else knew enough D&D -- and for it to be 3rd edition, no less, none of this new 4e bullshit -- was a bit of a shock. A pleasant one, but...

"Yeah, I get that, jesus Christ, there's this one eternal chick, ******** Requiem -- " He blinked, paused, looking around them, as if he expected her to come out of nowhere.

"-- well. Uh. I was out of town for a while, too." And apparently it was the mystery eternal's fault. He cleared his throat. "Your ankle okay?"

Amytis frowned and mentally noted the name, because if she had Al-Janah scared, she was someone to avoid. She'd hate to have trouble with someone in her own court - she was nervous enough about dealing with the opposite side.

"Uh, it, kinda hurts, but I think I can walk?" She glanced down and frowned at it, as if that would somehow make it less sore.

"Yeah, but you're going to have to do more than walk right?" He tested his own ankles -- fine, he'd stumbled but hadn't damaged anything at least -- and then stepped over to her, dusting off the back of his pants as he went. This was as chivalrous as Al-Janah got -- dropping down to a crouch next to her to inspect the ankle, as if he'd see the damage through shoes and skin.

"You have to run on rooftops. Unless this is your apartment building." Doubtful.

Amytis sighed. He was right, which was frustrating - if she was gonna get home, she'd have to do a lot more than walk awkwardly. "Uhm, no, this is not my building, but - do you know of any mirrors nearby? I could, uh, take that route." Mirrorwalking was a blessing from the gods, truly it was.

Al-Janah thought about that for along moment -- and then offered her a hand, easily, to get her under the elbow and around the waist, to help her get the weight off her ankle as best he could. He shook his head a little bit to draw her away from the alley, out onto the street, his eyebrows knitted up.

"Don't make me regret this, but I don't live far. We can take you home, and I'm pretty sure we've got a first aid kit around. Wrap up the ankle before we send you on your way..."

Amytis made a quiet noise of surprise. She hadn't expected actual physical support, but she certainly wasn't going to turn it down. She leaned on him a little, and actually smiled.

"I promise you won't, thank you so much."

Al-Janah grinned back at her, cheerfully amused at playing the part of hero to her damsel in distress and winked once before he started hauling her along. At Super, he was strong enough that, likely, he could have carried Amytis -- but he spared her the embarrassment. Instead he just supported her, down allies and side streets so that they weren't too obvious, coaxing her out of uniform and back into civvies before the entered the building.

Inside, she could sprawl out on Quinn's couch, in front of a buzzing TV and he'd fetch the first aid box to patch up her ankle as best he could. It wasn't a bad job. He'd had to deal with worse, in the past couple years.

At least this one didn't require a trip to the ER.
