WE ARE HALLOWEEN Sun Hunter SHADOW RUN General Information The Shadow Run is both the simplest and most dangerous training course that can be run without a golem. A flurry of continuous attacks is what the Sun Division holds in highest respect, and the course reflects that. The course itself is a simple tunnel, reached via portal. Within the tunnel await hundreds of weak, hungry shadowlings. Nothing to worry about on their own, but capable of overwhelming a Hunter through sheer numbers at the first moment of weakness. At the other end of the tunnel is another portal, leading back to the course observation booth.
If you fail: your character is KO'd, but there's always a senior hunter in the observation booth with enhanced bandages at the ready. They should reach you in time. Really. Trained and trusty professionals on-hand 24/7.
If you win: peen points and bragging rights to those who take out the greatest number of shadowlings and go the most turns without needing to attempt a recovery maneuver.
Mechanics You must get through 5 waves of attacks to make it through the tunnel. Simply roll for attack as you would in battle. If you miss, your character falters in their attacking and is overwhelmed by shadowlings. After 3 successful hits, you may use your weapon's charge attack.
Bonus Mechanics This bonus is consumable. The bonus in this course is in the form of "recoveries" ~ these are would-be missed attacks that are quickly recovered and turned into a successful hit. Basically, they can miss once and roll again for an extra try. If you keep consecutively missing, though, and run out of recoveries, it's lights out. These do not equal an automatic pass for a round, you still have to land a successful hit to proceed.

Chel gulped as the door was locked behind her, and the shadows began to pulse around her. Well that was incredibly gross. Was that a hand or-
Nevermind, she didn't want to know. "Alright Tensy. Show 'em what we're made of."
< Technically it is what I am made of for I am doing the majority of the work. >
"Oh okay I'll just set you down and let you do the work then." When silence greeted her, she grinned and began bashing shadows in the head with the blunt end of the bow.
< Please ... at least utilize me to my correct functions. >

It was too bad none of her friends were in here with her. Chel actually didn't feel very comfortable fighting monsters alone after her encounter with Olivia, but when others were around her she fell into the crowd easier.

She swiveled on her back foot, just in time to launch an arrow into the face of a shadowling. Watching the light in its eyes die was unsettling, but she had no time to think about the moral right and wrongs of hunting. There were too many shadows, and it felt like she was definitely losing.

"C'mon dude, I am definitely doing all the work here," Chel snipped with a hint of a smile on her face. She was holding her own- not well of course, but she was holding. For a trainee she was a little proud of herself for not just giving up immediately.
< Stay alert! > Tenebrae called out from her mind.
Without warning, a shadow jumped on her back, causing Chel to flail around. "Ah s**t, s**t, s**t!" she grumbled, running backwards to slam herself (and the shadow) into the tunnel wall around her. Her enemy flattened, clearly giving up any attempt of back attacks in the future. "Thanks man."

Annoyed by Tenebrae's claims, Chel pivoted on her feet, kicking an entire row of shadows down like dominos, and then sending a pink arrow through their bodies. She was tired of everybody treating her like she wasn't trying. Nevada kept being paranoid about her and Jack- now even Tenebrae said she wasn't putting her all in.
Well ... she knew that! She knew it wasn't her best- nothing would ever be her best. Chel sustained herself on mediocre jobs putting in as little effort as possible! It wasn't worth the disappointment of ever doing anything more.

Well that was one victory.

Darkness plagued her vision as one of the large shadows bashed her in the head. Well that ended quickly.
A bright light shown from her body as Tenebrae pushed the shadows off her. < Miss Chel, please rise quickly! >

Chel awoke abruptly, standing up unsteadily and shaking her head. Was this heaven? No wait s**t, still the tunnel.
She screeched and began firing arrows in every direction, not really sure of what was going on. Her instincts were taking over and she was just going to ride it out.

Chel finally broke through to the portal and collapsed on the other side of it. A sun hunter peered over her fallen form with a quizzical look.
"How'd I do, fellas?" she said with a grin. She'd passed, right?
