Asclepius sat on the edge of a building, her legs crossed and hanging over the edge. Recent fights had left her sore and, while she still needed to get some patrolling in on her way home from work, she was not really eager to engage anything on her own tonight. There were other things she could do, she figured, to fulfill her 'being a senshi' quota for the week. Keep in contact with allies, for starters.
And she had realized that she had not heard from Chaonis in a while.
So, with a small shrug, she dialed his number on her senshi phone, hoping he would answer, so she could tell him whwere she was.

The Eternal Senshi of Danger had to return to patrols slowly, after breaking his leg. Well, he didn't break it. The Negaverse had, if he was going to get specific about it, and now he owed them a few broken bones in return. He did not care who get the brunt of his anger, either.
As long as someone on the Nega side had to suffer the indignity of wearing a cast, then he would be content.
He was not expecting his phone to ring, and he picked it up quickly.
"Yo."
It was not the most professional of introductions, but they knew who they were calling, so he figured he didn't need to be specific. And anyway, usually when someone called him it was in an emergency and there was not much time for anything else. He was already tense and ready, anticipating the worse, ready for a fight and almost hoping that was what this was.

The short, informal greeting sounded enough like the Chaonis she remembered.
"Hey, it's Asclepius," she said. "I hadn't seen you for a while, so I just thought I would call and make sure you were still alive and all."
The Senshi of Medicine shrugged slightly to herself, becoming aware that it had been aw hile since she had done much talking on the phone outside of work-related calls. "Are you busy?"Lithia_Brandon (( shortpost, sorry =3=; ))

"Definitely still alive," Chaonis said, grinning ear to ear into his phone. "And I'm glad to hear you are, too. You doing anything fun? I'm not doing anything at all."
He wanted to get out and make some fun for himself. He'd been cooped up too long after the whole leg breaking, father turning out to be a knight and then turning into a templar fiasco. He really didn't want to dwell in the past, and he was focused on just going back to life as normal.
With a few more beaten Negas to make up for his wounded pride, and for nearly getting himself and his dad killed. That was half their fault anyway, as much as it was his.
In his head.
"Let's meet up! Where are you near? I'll come find you." He was already looking for other auras in the area, hoping it wouldn't be too tough to track her down. He was already moving, without actually knowing if he was getting closer or farther away. Better than standing still, anyway, since that was boring, even if it had no consequences in this instance.

"Nothing in particular tonight. Just checking on comrades, pretty much," she replied, then ribbed him with, "So nothing too much fun."
Asclepius leaned forward where she sat, shading her eyes from the reflection of a street light off glass so that she could read the dark neon sign of the business across the street from her. "Looks like I am across the street from 'Game Night Pizza and Wings'." Climbing to her feet, she started to pace a little on the roof, looking for any other helpful landmarks. If she could get him in the ballpark, at least, her aura should help him find her.
"Uhh, I'm sort of southwest of downtown, I guess, and this roof I'm on now is kind of reddish and has super-shiny ducts, like they just had them replaced recently."
One unintended consequence of being a senshi: a keen appreciation for and understanding of rooftops.

Chaonis looked around and got his bearings, taking not of where he was and trying to remember where Game Night Pizza and Wings was. He could see it in his mind, and he looked around to spot anything that would guide him. He was already running in the necessary direction, and leaped up onto a taller roof to look down at the streets below.
Spotting the red roof with the shiny ducts, or he supposed it was the right one, he grinned and nodded his head despite the fact that he was on the phone and she had no way of seeing him do that.
And he did not say anything, either, just hanging up on her when he was sure he had found her aura. Why did he need to tell her something that was obvious, like that he was heading toward her and could see her? She had the ability to feel his aura just as well, after all, so there was no need to waste his time. He leaped over to her roof, landing awkwardly but recovering enough to turn his stumble into a saunter as he waved at her.
"Long time no see," he said wit ha grin.

Chaonis had a good shot at sneaking up on her, or would have, except that she could feel an approaching aura, as well. Still, he arrived a bit more quickly than she had planned, and while they were still on the phone, too.
"Oh, hey," Asclepius said, turning around and lowering the senshi phone from her ear as she heard Chaonis' grunt at his landing in person a second before the sound came over the arcane senshi cell network. She hung up then, and walked towards him. "Yeah, it has been a while."
And then she realized she was not really sure what else to say. The Senshi of Medicine dismissed her phone back to ... where ever it went when she did not need it, and shrugged.
"How have things been?"

Chaonis grinned at her, putting his phone away and tilting his head at her. He was glad to see her, as she had always been one of his friends, and someone he was rather attached to, even before he had ever been able to acknowledge such touchy feely kinds of things.
He was still not the best guy for that kind of stuff, but at least now he knew to take care of the friendships he managed to make.
"Things have been things. Kinda crazy, I guess. There's a lot of bullshit going on right now. I almost died, a little while ago. General King did not like me beating one of his minions and broke my leg. My dad ended up protecting me. Turns out my dad is a Knight, and not only that, but he got stronger and is now. I dunno. Whatever the knight equivalent of a general king is. I dunno. I don't talk to him much about that whole thing."
He wasn't sure why that story was the first thing that came out of his mouth. Maybe because he had not told anyone about it, and really wanted to talk about it more than he let on. He frowned, rubbing the back of his neck.

"Wow, your dad's involved in all this, too?" Asclepius' eyebrows quirked slightly as she contemplated for a moment what she might do if one of her parents turned out to be a knight or something. "That must be so weird. I mean, he understands everything a little better, I hope? And ... probably saves you some lying, too, I'd imagine." She had certainly lied to her parents more than she had been in the habit of doing before she became a senshi.
Sometimes it bothered her that the lying no longer particularly bothered her. But Asclepius also knew that she now carried secrets that might be deadly to her parents if they got out.
"How's the leg now, though?" she asked, crossing her arms and leaning back slightly to look Chaonis over. The Senshi of Medicine would have to scrutinize his gait, and his ... jumping from building to building. Make sure there was no limp or anything, since she somehow doubted her friend would be straight with her if his leg did still give him trouble.
"I've had some crazy space adventures, myself," the brown-haired girl added. "Seeing the ghost of my past self and all that." She sighed heavily. "I guess I'm finally getting used to all the dead bodies there, too, which is weird, but ...."
Unsure of how to finish, Asclepius trailed off and looked away, then shrugged.

"Yeah I guess so, it's just weird finding out he's been fighting all this time. Maybe longer, I dunno. He's named Camelot when he powers up, I dunno if you've met him before. I get the feeling people knew more about him than I did for a lot longer than me. I don't care, it's just. Weird."
Chaonis was always bad with feelings, but this was really tripping him up.
He would rather lie, if he had the option, than be honest with his family. Why did they need to know what he was doing? He was happy with them thinking he was just a wayward kid, out too late every night. That was the kind of wrong impression that he often went for, as he did not want to give people the impression that they could count on him for more than he was willing to give. He could not suffer being a disappointment, and the easiest way to avoid that was to set the bar really low.
Knowing he was a senshi, Tony would just expect more out of Nate now.
"I'm all healed up and ready to just pretend none of this happened. Oh you've been going back to your planet more?" He was not much for his dust ball of a planet, and had spent no time learning about it or his past self. "Hey, I mean. Those dead bodies have been there forever. At least it's not like someone you could have helped, right? But I know they wig you out and all. Uh. What do you mean by ghosts? Have you learned more about all that stuff?"

"Camelot," she repeated, hazel eyes training upwards as she went back through her memory. "I have met him, but it's been a while." Her gaze returned to Chaonis and she smiled slightly. "Glad he's doing alright still."
Asclepius started to walk across the rooftop, pausing and turning back to motion to her friend to follow her. "Here, I want to show you a place I've sort of claimed for myself as a safe house. Next time you get yourself in trouble, I guess you can stop by to rest if you need it." They were a good half-mile or so off, but the ability to jump and run as a senshi would certainly shorten the trip.
"I went to stay up on my planet overnight," she went on as she continued to lead Chaonis to her home base. "Finally had some real visions, and I guess maybe learned some things." A pause and a frown. "I guess I'm still sort of working through it all, just because I've never really dealt with ... past life things. Actual memories of one."

"Yeah, I guess he's doing better than I thought," he grumped, folding his arms over his chest and frowning at the floor. He was not surprised to hear others had met Camelot before Nate did, and even that was not true: he had met Camelot before, he just never knew the man was actually his dad.
It did make him wonder who else was powered up, but he supposed he was aware of most of his friends. The only ones he really had were ones he'd made through being a senshi, anyway. So no more surprises, he hoped.
Unless Dogby suddenly powered up, or something ridiculous like that.
He was interested in changing the subject, though, and was glad when Asclepius presented him something else to focus on. He perked up immediately. He followed after her, nodding his head as she spoke, pondering the idea of staying over at a planet over night. He doubted his would be very interesting, considering.
"That's good that you saw some memories, though. Does it seem like a cool place, or were the memories bad? Do you care about that stuff, the past life stuff? I'm not really sure it matters much to me."

The senshi slowed to a walk across the next rooftop, her gaze becoming distant as she looked upwards. "Yeah, it was weird staying overnight, but I'm glad I did it. The memories were okay, just really jarring to be someone else."
She glanced back at Chaonis and frowned, then admitted, "I found my past self's body, too, though. That was ... I guess actually less creepy than I thought it would be, in retrospect, but still pretty unsettling." Asclepius chewed her lip for a moment, then added, "He seemed like a pretty good guy, though. Evagrius. I got his name, too."
Then she shook her head and picked up pace again, getting a jogging start to jump to the next roof. "Here, we're almost there, just a few more blocks."

Chaonis nodded his head. He purposefully avoided his homeworld, for things like that. Memories and past lives and ancestors: all these things that people talked about, from Senshi to Knights. They were not things he understood and, for the longest time, he did not have the capacity to really understand and handle. Maybe now that he was older and, against his own will, more mature, he would be able to process what his planet held for him.
Or not, whatever.
"You found your own body?" he echoed. Though he supposed it was not her body, so much as the person that had been Asclepius before her. Or... whoever she had been 1000 years ago, or whatever it was. He really needed to pay more attention when people talked about their planets, and he was trying more and more now... he was just rather far behind.
He had almost forgotten where they were going, listening to her story, nodding along.
"Well, I mean. I will have to go to my home world some time, I guess. The last time I was not that illuminating but... I dunno. The way you talk about it, I feel like I must be missing out on something there."

The brown-haired girl considered his words for a long moment, then shrugged. "I guess it really depends how you want to think of your past life," she replied finally.
"I want to learn as much as I can from whatever it was that happened before, but I don't know, maybe that's because I'm used to working on case studies and past precedent from school and all. I feel more comfortable with something tried and true. But then on the other hand, it clearly didn't work, or we would all be ... I don't know, living in our asteroid palaces instead of here. Or maybe there would be no Negaverse now. Who knows."
Asclepius hopped to the next rooftop, then turned back to wait for Chaonis. "Maybe it's just as well to have your own views not all clouded by the past. Maybe you work better as a Fresh New Ideas Guy," she called to him. "Although I really don't know. It'd be up to you if you think you really need something from your homeworld or not, I think. Maybe our past selves only reveal as much as we want to know."
