Thanskgiving was not something Melvin passed up, either know he knew better this year than to plan a big get together like before. He hadn't planned on resources being as bad as they were last year, and decided that with the overall chaos that happened when he got people together last year, that he was just too strained at the moment to handle it. He was taking a personal vacation by not adding holiday planning to the mix.
That didn't mean he didn't want to spend it alone, and the only person who was not podded and he cared about was Rin, and he sought out his own resources. Seeing at their vacation off the island had been cancelled by illusion murder at the lighthouse, he went out and bribed the few hunters who managed to get food and supplies smuggled in during the holidays. A few things here and there and he managed with a small basket of lovely fixings - enough for two, along with seconds and thirds if they wanted it.
Basket in hand, he hid the entire thing in a tank and then a cautious: explosive materials cover before leaving it far in the back of the fridges. He even made sure to go in alone and be sure to hide it behind a few large containers of byprocessed ration meat that seemed to have been there since Deus World 1.
When they were ready, he pulled the basket out of the tank and brought it out to the kitchen, making sure one particular box was covered and not easily opened. That was for later.
"It's not really cranberries and a big turkey, but it's still the real deal." He told Rin as he set the bag down and uncovered it. He pulled out a tuboware of turkey slices, then another one of honey ham, recently cooked and pulled off the bone from someone else's feast. He brought out four types of cheeses, lettuce, and various condiments, not to mention hickory smoked bacon already cooked. There were various other fixings in the bag, and he let Rin rustle in it before he went to the room and pulled out a box where he had hidden the rolls to stay warm and dry, and pulled out two large loafs of fresh, crispy bread. He had made sure to clean the kitchen beforehand, and set the loafs down. "We can eat to our heart's content for once and not that slop they are handing out today. I do not want to be run over by some Sun who wasn't another helping of off-gray mash potatoes."

"It's so much more than I could have ever asked for," Rin replied as she reached to tenderly take Melvin's bottom jaw in her hand and then ease him downward to plant a kiss on his forehead. "You did a very good job."
She flashed him a smile and then turned her attention on the goods. She looked like she was planning on making a mostly meat and cheese sandwich as she seemed to be separating her choices out.
"Where are we going to eat? Everyone will jump us the second we set foot in the cafeteria..."

He lowered himself into the kiss, smiling. He had recently brushed, as per usual before and after eating, and smelled of Scope. "I was thinking that I'll hide the the rest of the stuff in the tank again for later, and we could go sit on my bed in my room. A few guys I know downloaded movies on a usb and I can plug it into my tablet. We can watch it in bed. I even raided the vending machine and have chips and stuff up there." He had planned ahead. "We can just put our plates in the basket again and walk up to my room."
He turned to address his own sandwich, opening the loaf and looking over to Rin. "You're not going to put any peppers or lettuce on that?" He asked, reaching over for the spicy mustard to start slathering up his bread.

"Nope, the peppers are all you," Rin looked surprised at the suggestion of a thanksgiving dinner in bed. By Melvin. Suggested from his mouth. She looked suspicious, "You are aware that involves a lot of crumbs, right?"

He gritted his teeth but forced a smile. "It's..no big deal. Sheets can be washed." He said, trying VERY hard not to think about it. He had spare sheets after all. If it bothered him, he could always change them.
"At least put something green on your plate." He advised her, reaching over and taking the green peppers and also a jar of pickles, opening them up. He smiled to himself. At home, he always had trouble opening jars. Not it was so easy being a hunter that he had to worry about shattering glass.
He started to set down a layer of ham on his bread, and then reached for some new york sharp cheddar cheese slices to lay on top. "The guy said there were a few recent movies on the usb. I haven't seen a movie in forever. It would be nice if he had a nice theater here or a projector." He reached for some turkey this time.

Rin roooolled her eyes exaggeratedly before reaching over to steal a pickle and place it on her plate. "Better?"
She grinned toothily at him as she prepared her own sandwich stacking with care using a little bit of every meat and cheese.
"Is there a list to choose from?"

He reached over and placed a leaf of lettuce on her plate before picking out some lettuce for his own sandwich. "Better." He said with a smart-a** smile before he started to pick out some pickles and banana peppers to finish off his sandwich.
"They will be listed. He said a lot of comic book movies came out, and he has a few, along with Cabin in the Woods and a few other horror movies. Felt we could just camp in and have a marathon. I don't want to think about work or anything today, and I know we have candy in my room still. All I need to do is hunt down some popcorn." He really would love to eat popcorn late at night while watching movie. "But that depends on how full we get."
He turned his sandwich top to press on top of the other, before taking a knife and cutting it in half. Then, looking through the basket, he pulled out a little canister that had toothpicks. He pulled one out and stabbed both halves of the sandwich in order to keep them from toppling over into a sandwich mess while they moved upstairs.
Proud of his delicious sandwich that would probably be several pounds of awesome in his stomach, he smiled. "We are going to get so ******** fat today." Twas the spirit of Thanksgiving.

Rin eyed the leaf as if it had personally offended her and then Melvin as if he was guilty of the same offence.
"We should probably move to there before anyone catches us and our goods," she warned in idle effort to change the subject before she found herself with a whole head of lettuce on her plate.
Even though her sandwich was just as large with far less good-for-you smooshed anywhere in it, she still insisted, "speak for yourself. I'm going to be a lean, mean, movie watching machine after this."

"I'm going to want a nap." He said with a smile, in no way ashamed or against a nice nap after the few good meals he could get here at Deus Ex.
With their sandwiches made, Melvin gathered the remainder and put them back in his secret tank in the fridge and returned to then place their sandwiches carefully in the basket, covering them, and then taking a few paper to place on top. He then pointed ahead. "We can stop at the vending machine for some sodas."
After a quick stop at the vending machine to get several drinks, they headed up to his room where he locked the door behind them, took off his shoes by the door, and then went over to place the basket on the nightstand. "Get comfortable and pile some pillows up. I'll get my tablet." He told her, before finding his tablet charging on his desk, picking up a purple usb drive that had the movies, and then taking off his coat and sweater leaving him in just a t-shirt before heading over to the bed. "We have....Iron Man. Iron Man 2. Captain America - really?" Wasn't that a cartoon? "Avengers. Thor. Cabin in the Woods. Twilight. Despicable Me. Tangled. Pacific Rim. Prometheus. James Bond: Skyfall. Wow. They made another one. Um...a few others too." He said flicking the screen.
