User Image Soir slowly poked her head out from the trees and glanced around nervously, eyes wide with curiosity and fear. When she saw no immediate threat, the plantlike mare slowly steped out from the coverage of the foliage and dipped her muzzle in nearby stream, enjoying the coolness as she happily drank. The sun felt wonderful on her leaves and she closed her eyes, enjoying the warmth.

User Image The warmth felt most lovely against his back, with his head hanging low, the hornless Artcurus stood silent and still. not even touching the grass that laid at his hooves. While his stomach grumbled, Dragomir didn't know if he could eat and keep it down. As of late, he hadn't been feeling too well, perhaps it was all the cold places he had been staying. Flicking his tail a bit, his sensitive hearing picked up on someone else nearby. Lifting his head a little, his eyes covered with their blindfold, he listened, someone else was here. Someone, but who? He dared not call in fear of, what he didn't know...

A faint grumble made the mare's ears twitch and she opened her eyes, quick as a flash. Soir had never mingled with any stars other than her fellow plant like creatures but she had heard stories. Horrible stories of DRAGONS EATING HORSES WHOLE. Oh no! It was a dragon! It had to be!

Pale eyes rolled around wildly in their sockets before they landed on the unknown stallion and she gasped in fear. Not a dragon but just as scary nonetheless!

With a shriek, she darted from the cool water and dove into the bushes, allowing her body to be covered by the leaves around her before slowly poking her nose eye just far enough to see him. If he got any closer, she would run...But her curiosity currently kept her rooted to her spot.

Could he even see from under that blindfold?

The shriek caused Dragomir to lift his head quickly, his own ears twitching to locate the area it had come from. This sudden movement also sent him staggering backward and landing upon his rump. It might have been a funny sight to see, it didn't feel very funny to him. A burst of pain spread itself like a net over his head and face, one that made him bite into his own lip to draw blood to the surface. What was with all the noise? Wasn't he the only one here? Apparently not as something or someone dashed away from him and made the leaves shake. Why was everything so loud!?

Shaking his head, hoping to get the pain to fall back to a dull throb, he dared not remove the cloth that kept him in blissful darkness. As everything seemed to quiet down again, he heard the sounds of water, perhaps that would help ease whatever was ailing him. Pulling himself back to his hooves, unsteady as they were, Dragomir headed toward the source of the sound. Stumbling not far from its edge, he landed head first in the water, sinking slightly to let it wash over his aching skull. Forgetting for a moment he couldn't breath beneath the surface.

The mare watched as the stallion stumbled about blindly, falling here, tripping there. The poor thing seemed as if it could barely stand on his own two feet. Perhaps he really couldn't see after all...And was he...drowning himself?

Concern shot across her face but her fear kept her still. What he he wanted to eat her if she got too close?

But what if he drowned and she did nothing to stop it? What if he needed help?

She couldn't help him! What good could she do?

But she had to try...

Biting her bottom lip, the mare slowly exited the protection of the tree line and jogged up to the stallion, keeping her distance and eyeing his face under the water...Just in case he had big teeth ripe for chewing on her.

"Do...Do you need help? Are you okay?"

She spoke, her eyes going wide from the sheer shock of what she was doing. She'd never spoken to anyone but her kind...

The soft babbling voice, even softer still over the current of the stream drove Dragomir to pull his head from beneath the surface. Snorting water from his nostrils, the cloth that had been covering his eyes had fallen from its place and landed wetly on the ground. Those red, blood shot eyes turned towards the pale mare that stood not so close to him.

What happened next he couldn't explain, the world rushed away from him leaving him in darkness, though he was not dreaming this time. At least he didn't think he was dreaming. Everything was quiet until his sensitive ears picking up the distant crackling of fire. Those hot flames licking at wood and leaf. Screams of animals and other stars as they ran for safety, but what safety? The whole forest was ablaze. In its center a large tree, one that might have been home to many stars in it self.

"Fire, the forest burns. Can't get out, too much smoke. Run, ever running. The tree, it cries, ever crying. Make it stop!" Dragomir muttered loudly, sitting there, shaking. His eyes rolling back in their sockets to show white. "Mommy, I can't breath."

Shaking his head, Dragomir tried to drag himself away from what he was seeing within his mind's eye. He couldn't, Didn't, understand what was happening. Was he slowly slipping into hysteria? So many questions, so few answers. When he though he was free enough, he looked back towards the leaf studded mare, those red eyes staring with a piercing gaze. One almost like a predator watching its prey, this before he looked away, turning those red eyes away from the mare.

"Sorry to have scared you," Was all he uttered, his body still shaking, might have been from the cold, he was unsure..

As the stallion started to speak again, Soir started, jumping back a few steps. What horrible things was he saying? Fire? Smoke? Her forest?

The very thought made her stomach clench with pain. It was as if she could feel the fire now tearing through the trees. Her home, her life, her very soul was in these woods. To burn them would be to burn her. To destroy them would be to destroy her life.

No...

But it wasn't happening.

Soir looked around and was relieved. For a second, she had been so caught up in his frenzied words that she thought perhaps it was truly coming to fruition but here, now, the world around them was serene...The stallion aside, everything was in its place as it all should have been.

His eyes startled her and the mare had to look away, taking a few steps back, unsure of what to do. Her mind told her to flee and she was poised to do so...She had enough distance that she could make the treeline and vanish from sight. It would be simple. No one could ever find her unless she wanted to be found among the foliage.

Yet he was...shaking. Was he in pain?

The mare swallowed the lump of fear in her throat. She could escape if she wanted to...for now...she could try talking to him. Seeing if she could help him.

"I...I am alright," she whispered in response, her brows furrowing as her golden eyes looked him over with worry, "Do you need...any help? Are you hurt?" she repeated her question from before, feeling it was more valid now than ever, "What...what was that?"

Questions, so many questions. Questions of his own, questions that were spoken, unspoken. Mushing together and scattering apart, his head was a rabble of buzzing sounds that he almost thought he was going mad. He was mad, mad with a fever that no water could calm, a sickness that no one could cure. His madness was of the head, sometimes it felt like a worm or some other parasite had crawled through his ear and into his skull. Shaking his head, trying hard to quell the buzzing, Dragomir's blood red eyes sought out the mare that only stood a breath away.

"Help, there is no help for me. My past is shattered, fragments of a mirror that no longer shows a reflection of what it to be." Riddles he spoke, but he was a riddle upon himself. "I was hurt a long time ago, or recently, it is hard to judge the time when one can not find his own way through the streams of time."

Standing, his knees shook, hooves unsteady, Dragomir stared long at the ground. Laying at his hooves the cloth that had once covered his eyes. Once he got his bearings, he would place it back where it belonged. Still one question buzzed around his skull. 'What...what was that?'

"I dare not speak of what it was. For even I don't know what it was, what words were spoken." he knew what was said, but dared not think about it. He didn't know what they meant, a memory. A vision. It was hard to know the dream world from that of the waking one.

Soir swallowed, more nervous now than ever. She had reached one definite conclusion. This stallion was, in fact, insane. What else could he be talking about? Nothing he said made any sense. It was as if she were trying to talk to a bird. At least the chirps were harmonious...He only spoke in terrifying riddles and it made her uneasy.

Shifting her hooves beneath her, she endeavored to stay put if not for just a while longer...Maybe she could help him.

"You...don't have to talk about it, then," she offered, completely unsure of what she was doing,"but if it happened in the past...perhaps you should try to...move on...Do you need help with your blindfold?"

Past, future, he didn't know how he was to make of it all. Everything was one large blur of motion and it was making his head ache. Ache worse than it had ever done. Shaking his head, his mane sticking to his neck and face.

"Don't touch me!" was his first reaction to the offer of help.

Shrinking back some, leaving the cloth on the ground. Hooves scraping up small piles of dirt before him, the stallion looked terrified. He wasn't one for being touched, or helped for that matter. Not used to it actually. He was the abomination birthed between two warring sides.

"Please, just don't. I... I can manage on my own. Have so far." He was ashamed at to how he had reacted, but it was the only way he knew how to react. Loneliness was all he knew since before he could remember. It was all he had now. "I. Didn't mean to scare you. I'm, not used to being around others."

As the stallion shrieked at her, Soir flinched, stepping back some as her nerves began to take hold of her once more. Why was she here? What was she even doing? He obviously wasn't stable...She was in danger...

But he was hurting.

Soir was torn. While she still had patience to spare, she pitied the stallion. He seemed so confused. Perhaps...Perhaps if he just had some company for a little while he would feel better.

The mare swallowed hard and closed her eyes tight. Just for a little longer. Just until he gained his bearings. If he got much crazier, she would flee.

His apology caught her off guard and she stopped and stared at him for a moment. He seemed to be coming around some.

"I...I'm not used to it either," she admitted, hoping maybe this would make him feel better, "I won't touch you, you don't have to worry about that," she assured him, her tone as comforting as she could manage.

"My name is Soir...I....What's yours?"

Now he had done it, he had scared the star who had offered to help him. He didn't have to see to know, he could hear it in her voice. The movements along the ground, shuffling hooves and the like. He was good at telling feelings, it was the most he was good for. Turning his head to one side, his ears falling back against his mane, Dragomir looked downwards. Ashamed.

"Dragomir, I was called Dragomir." He remained looking away from the mare who had announced herself as Soir. "It is only best you do keep a distance. I... I can't control whatever happens. Never could, even before the fall."

Pulling himself to his hooves, unsteady as they were. Dragomir walked over towards where he had come from, his hooves following the scratches in the dirt. He had costumed himself to feeling things with the edges of his hooves, unlike some who walk around nose to the ground. He was too used to walking with his head up, listening, following the sun that touched his muzzle.
