The forest of Jauhar was alive with sounds, little glow bugs with their buzzing and spitorogs with croaks. It was music to Kelina's ears as she darted from tree to tree. It had been awhile since she hunted during the day and she was enjoying it. The sun tried to warm her through the little holes in the canopy as she ran and it only partially succeeded. Of course, the forest was hot enough as it was. These were the things that were crossing through the young shifter's mind as she raced through the forest. She had no particular place in mind, always making sure to steer clear enough away from the Alkidike villages. Kel had heeded Bhima's warning since their meeting. She decided to travel north this time. Today was just for fun. If she killed something, all the better to have meat to bring home to Lasarra. If not, she had a nice day stretching her legs.

Taking a moment to pause, she stretched her legs before sitting down on the branch to inspect the ground below. There were some prints, Radaku, from the looks of them. Radakus brought two people to mind, her sister, and Sauron. They weren't that much different, really, and they were both always on her mind. A gentle smile found its way to her face and she sat there grinning like a fool before deciding to stand and follow the tracks.

The day had started pretty boring for the young Alkidike, she'd headed into the forest with her mentor to learn more about the different vegetation outside of Emeka. While interesting, Vyn'dali felt the urge to head out on her own, learn by touch and scent rather then the droning words of the older Alkidike. Silly and dangerous, yes, but a lot more exciting. So when the lesson had ended and she was tasked with finding and collecting small roots in the hard ground on her own, she was more excited then she should have been. It had taken her a few moments of mucking about the forest to notice something a lot more interesting then a few hard-gathered roots. Tracks she'd never seen before stretching off into the undergrowth. How could she resist the urge to see what's at the end?

Well she couldn't, and once again Vyn'dali found herself in a bad situation.
"Ey, Ey! Shoo!" She shouted, clinging to one of Jauhar's trees as she stood up in it's branches. Down below an angry Radaku circled the trunk, it's eyes angry and tail lashing about behind it as it glared up as the young Alkidike who laid just out of reach. "Come on I'm sorry.." Vyn tried again as she kneeled down on the branch, one arm half wrapped around the trunk as the other rested by her knee. Antenna twitching in her anxiety, she cowered, trying to look as small and non-threatening as she could. Maybe she shouldn't have bothered it, left it alone, but weren't they supposed to be friendly? Peering around for any help or even way out she felt herself begin to shake as she beast bellowed angrily below. "H-Help! Is anyone there? Please help!" She tried desperately, sure she could wait out the mad beast, but what if it never left? Well Vyn'dali wasn't going to take the chance, she didn't want to be stuck out here all night, and she'd need some water eventually..

It wasn't long after she started following the tracks that she heard a voice call out through the forest for help. What if it was some youngling who had wandered too far away from the village? That thought made Kelina run through the trees faster than she was previously. Her steps lithe and well placed on the branches causing only a slight dip in the younger branches higher up in the canopy that she was running on. It was almost amazing on how far away she actually had to go, whoever called out must have some impressive lungs. But, she still found it, though it wasn't a youngling. An Alkidike, near her age, probably a prentice. It took her a moment to figure out the source of the girl's distress, that was until she heard the swishing of a tail on the ground. So that must have been the Radaku she was tracking.

Slipping her bow off of her shoulder, Kelina quietly notched an arrow before observing the Radaku for a few moments to watch it's movement pattern. Right as it turned around again, she let her arrow fly and it embedded itself in the animals chest. The Radaku only ran a few meters before collapsing dead. With a sigh, she figured she probably scared the girl. "Don't freak out. I'm just here above you." She said before dropping down to the branch the Alkidke was on. Keeping her bow in her hand, she used her other to wipe the hair back from her face. "What did you do to enrage the Radaku like that?" She asked politely, whatever it was, she'd have to tell Lasarra not to do it. Her eyes strayed to the dead Radaku, wanting to keep an eye on it and make sure no other animal got to it before she could take care of it.

So focused on the pacing beast below, and occasional shout for assistance, Vyn'dali had hardly noticed the soft sound of leaves rustling above in time with the shifter's movements. Or the small sound of an arrow being drawn above her. Tears gathered in her large, terrified eyes, she carefully on shaky legs attempted to stand and maybe get out of here on her own. Gently pushing away from where she'd clung to the trunk, she barely managed to balance as she peered around to try and find nearby branch she could jump to. Something, anything she could use to get away. "Maybe I could throw a rock..." She wondered aloud, keeping her hand on the tree at all times, she leaned forward to see if the pacing animal was still hanging about. (Even though she could hear it's frustration and clawing at the poor tree, she hoped it would storm away.) Though could you blame her?

Yet of course as luck would have it, as soon as her gaze landed on the beast a scream of surprise and fear tore from her. Before her, with a dull thunk, the Radaku was struck right in the chest. Gently lowering herself to rest on her calves, she felt her shoulders shake as the tears that had gathered in her eyes spilled over and small sobs left her small frame. By Aisha this was a terrible idea. Eyes locked on the beast as it fell over, right hand covering her mouth as she tried to steady her breathing and heart Vyn'dali didn't pay any mind to the gentle shake of the branch as she was joined by another. It was only when she spoke that her head turned and she stared at the dark-skinned being beside her. Shaking her head she closed her eyes for a moment, shifting her weight to carefully pull her legs out from under her to sit back on the tree-limb.
"I-I.. I swear I didn't mean to." She began hesitantly. "I've just.. never seen one before and wanted to get a closer look."

The fear on the Alkidike's face was clear, even more so as the animal lay dead and tears fell from her eyes. Did she upset the girl by killing it? Or was it simply the situation itself? "Throwing a rock probably wouldn't have done much good. Taming a Radaku is difficult, I have no idea how my sister managed to tame hers. Its generally a good idea to just stay away from them unless you have some sort of protection. Are you okay?" She asked her. Kelina couldn't see any injuries on her but that didn't mean anything really. Taking the cue of the other sitting down, Kelina threw her bow over her shoulder before sitting down on the tree-limb with her.
"My name is Kelina. I"m an archer from Ast."

Clearing her throat, Vyn'dali rubbed her eyes to clear away the tears that continued to try and spill over and let out a quiet, shaky sigh. "Yah, I'm fine. Just a little shaken up. I'd heard they were much more.. gentle creatures." Keeping her eyes closed for a moment she buried her head in her hands and took a moment to calm herself, simply offering her a nod at the name. At least it was over now, she hoped her mentor didn't find out about this somehow. Sliding her hands off her eyes, Vyn turned to the shifter and offered her a bright smile. "Thank you Kelina of Ast." Turning to bend her knee across the branch for balance, she faced the other completely and let out another laugh. "I wasn't sure how I was going to get out of that one. You're an amazing shot!"

Holding out both of her hands in front of her as an offer for the other to take if she wished, the young Alkidike's eyes shined with her appreciation. "I am Vyn'dali from Emeka, well kind of. I've only been living there a short while." She spoke happily with a quick nod when she finished. Glancing off to the side to peer down at the still form of the beast, she let out a sigh of relief. "Thought I was done for!" Vyn'dali exclaimed suddenly with another hushed laugh.

This girl had definitely been in panic mode times ten. It made her happier that she had decided to go out today, what would have happened to the poor alkidike had she not? As the other wiped tears away from her eyes Kelina kept an eye on the Radaku. "They can be quite deceiving. Especially if you've seen a tame one. But, at least you had climbed into the trees. Eventually, it probably would have gotten bored and left or you could have just traveled by tree limbs until you were safe." Lasarra always seemed light on her feet in the trees so Kelina had to assume that most alkidikes were too.

She couldn't help but grin and blush a little as the other complimented her. "It's nice to meet you, Vyn'dali. Honestly, you've got to be a good shot if you want to stay safe. I learned that one the hard way." Kel's grin turned to a slight frown as she thought of her sister. She had healed of course, but that didn't stop the guilt from growing in her heart. Putting a smile on once more, "Emeka. I've never been there yet, though, most Alkidike establishments aren't always completely welcoming to a shifter." A snort sounding laugh escaped her as she dangled her feet below her.

Nodding at her words, Vyn set her hands down on her crossed leg and swung the one dangling free over the side, absent-mindedly. Already she was starting to feel more comfortable as her heart slowed it's rampant beating, and she could breathe more deeply. "Sure it would have, but who knows when it would have went away." Voice lowered as a wave of shame overcame her small frame, Vyn'dali looked down at her hands with a frown. It had never crossed her mind in her panic that hopping through the trees would have been her safe-ticket home. "Probably would have followed me." She commented quietly to herself as she shook off the feeling, choosing to take the thought that made her feel more at ease in her mind. Drawing in a deep breath to urge her to give some confidence in her voice, Vyn turned to offer the other another bright smile. "I guess in the future I'll make sure to give those beasts a wide breach." Laughter lining her words as a mean to comfort her embarrassment, she nodded.

"As for Emeka.. It's not a great place." Shrugging, she carefully slipped her feet underneath her to stand up on the branch, one-foot in front of the other. "I mean, it's a nice town, people are kind enough to you. It's just kind of.." 'Lonely.' Words falling off as she finished them quietly in her head. Smiling falling to bite the inside of her lip momentarily, Vyn laughed shortly after to cover up the break. "I could always take you there if you'd like to see? I mean I'm sure it's nothing like the other places to see, but maybe if I'm with you they'll be.. I don't know, nicer to a stranger?" She wasn't stupid if anything, her mentor on plenty of occasions had told her stories of Shifters. Yet her mother's stories had always set them in a kind light, so she wasn't one to cast harsh-judgement on anyone right off the bat.

Once it seemed that Vyn'Dali was calminb down, so was Kelina. Her own heart had started racing as she had been tracking the radaku and had been hammering up until she took the shot. Her breathing was slowing and she was feeling much more at ease now. She listened to the other talk, and it seemed as if something was...off. As if something was missing. "I think it's always a good idea to give beasts a wide breach. It tends to be safer for both parties." She said with a smile.

Kel got more of the "off" feeling as the other started talking about Emeka, the place that was her home. But she seemed...sad when talking about it. But Vyn always covered it up with a laugh or a smile. She was young and would figure it out she was sure. "You're very kind, though I don't think your elders would like that very much, and I wouldn't want to get you in any trouble. Relations between Alkidikes and shifters aren't always peaceful so I personally try to keep from straining it if I can help it." She took a moment to study the other as she stood up. "I might be being nosy by asking this but are you okay?" She asked hesitantly, genuine concern laced her voice.
