At this time of year it was not an uncommon sight to see Athene patrol with some sort of hot drink to hand and tonight was no exception. Tonight however, he sported a new addition to go with the take-away cup of hot chocolate that he'd picked up earlier, in the form of the grey finger-less gloves that he had picked up cheap from a thrift store.
The gloves in addition to hot chocolate certainly made a difference to his normally cold hands and Athene found himself wondering why he hadn't got round to picking up some gloves earlier.
The night had been a relatively quiet one and although Athene's path had crossed that of a youma earlier there had been nothing since.
The night was also still young however and Athene had been about to turn about and let his feet take him somewhere else, when he picked up on the flare of a fellow eternal senshi's aura.
The aura was close enough that after a moment or two Athene decided to try seeking it out, mayhaps the other eternal wouldn't mind a spot of company and besides shared patrols were always nicer than solo ones.

As was common Maia was in the park, but the odd thing about her being in the park was that she appeared to be dancing. Some form of ballet, which after a few good steps seems to transform into the fighting style she had developed for herself over the past 4 years. She was practicing and it could only be described at beautiful when not being used on someone, as it was a little more fluid without something to connect with.
She practiced often, but rarely had much time for herself as she was often training someone else. That was the way of the world or at least the way of the city's night life.
Maia paused in her steps feeling the approach of another and smiled feeling an order aura, another senshi if she was feeling things correctly. She turned, "Hello," she called out.
Athene had eventually found himself heading in the direction of the park as he attempted to track down the eternal aura that that he had picked up on.
It hadn't taken long to make the walk over as, despite having to back trek a little on account of the fact that he'd been heading away somewhat from the partk, Athene hadn't been that far away.
The walk over had been as uneventful as the rest of his patrol however and he'd managed to drink about a quarter of what was left of the hot chocolate by the time he came across the other eternal.
She turned as he approached, deliberately not being particularly quiet about it as he didn't want to come across as trying to sneak up on her. As he caught sight of her face, Athene realised he recognised her, a slight but friendly smile on his face as he quietly returned her greeting with one of his own "Evening Maia."

Maia smiled, "Athene, its been a while," she said softly her smile still in place. He was an eternal she liked to see, he came to two of her training sessions so far and it made her very happy. It was a very good example for an eternal to make she thought.
She turned and headed over to him, "what brings you to the park this evening? Do you need something?"
She wasnt sure if he knew, some other did, but Maia could often found in the park and it was something she said. If you need me, you can find me in the park. She'd found it was a place she frequented most in all her 4 going on 5 years as a senshi.
"It has" Athene agreed quietly. In fact probably not since the second training session that she had arranged for those of Order, since he hadn't been able to make the last one.
He shook his head at her query about the park "Ah no there was no special reason for me to head this way," he admitted. Despite knowing of Maia because of the Order training sessions and respecting her for the work that she'd put into them, Athene didn't really know the other eternal that well and had no idea that the park was something of a regular haunt for her.
"To be honest, I was just patrolling" he continued, adding. "But it's been pretty quiet so far." Not that he was complaining - quiet nights weren't that common in the senshi line of things.

Maia nodded and gave a small laugh, "well the park is a good place to patrol. A lot goes on here and there tended to be a large amount of youma here in the past, though I'm not sure that's the case anymore."
She grinned, "I mean you can feel us coming and can feel us for quite a distance if you are paying attention. I thought for sure that would attract attention, but oddly that doesnt seem to be the case at all most day."
She motioned for Athene to follow her an moved though the trees to a bench that had been moved some time ago. Off the path so the senshi passing through could rest for a moment without possibly being spotted my a late night jogger or civilian out when they really shouldn't have been.
"Come sit, it doesn't appear it will me the most active of nights."
"I came across an youma earlier" Athene said as he stepped off the path and followed after Maia. "But for the most part things have been pretty quiet on that front."
His fellow eternal was right - it had been pretty quiet on the chaos front and come to think on it, it hadn't been just youma. In fact ever since the the whole thing with the shades and that Queen of theirs where order and chaos alike had ended up fighting side by side to stop her and her ambitions it had been relatively quiet.
Athene nodded at Maia's request that he sit, it quiet enough that he reckoned that he could take a bit of time out. "True" he agreed quietly. "Touch wood" surreptitiously he did just, using his free hand to briefly touch the wood of the bench. His lips quirking up in a slight smile as he admitted, his quiet voice slightly rueful "But quiet is good."
Athene wasn't planning to take it for granted though, after this all was Destiny City - who knew what was around the corner.

"Quiet is good, but worrying. I'm sure things are in planning with them, they never stay quiet for long. It's like a cycle, only we never seem to figure out when something will go down before it happens. We need more organization."
Maia looked up to the sky where she sat, there were a lot trees where they sat, but she could see through a break in them the stars and gave a small sigh. "I guess I can say that it's sort of lucky not much is going on, it allows me to do more training so to speak. To find more senshi in need of guidance and try to guide them. To help them. But very importantly, teach them how to fight."
She gave a laugh, "I spend a lot of time in the park. One would thing with all the bad ive experienced here that I would stay away, but that isn't the case. I find myself coming back most night even if only just for a few moments."
Athene nodded, his smile fading "I try to help senshi too, knights as well" he said quietly. "Particularly the new ones." He hesitated before continuing "My awakening to all of this consisted of receiving a henshin pen, a phone and being told that I needed to protect people from people from the Negaverse" he thought about it for a moment before adding "And from losing their soul crystals."
He turned to look up at the sky for a moment as he continued "But at least I got that much - there's others out there who've ended up caught in all of this that get even less than that and that's not right."
He sighed "So I try to keep an eye out for new auras and give what help I can." He shook his head slightly, "But I'm going on at you" the wry note was back in his voice. "And I'm sorry for that." He looked back at her, "By the way I don't think I've ever thanked you for putting on those training sessions, but they've been helpful, really helpful."
