Congratulations, you have been chosen for a special honor! To further cement the Konoha/Kiri Alliance, you have been chosen to act as a student/genin ambassador to the Village Hidden in the Mist.

That's what the letter had said at least, but somehow you felt less special as you left the Hidden Leaf for the first time. You and several members of the Diplomatic Corps were lead carefully through the siege lines outside of the village, and after more then a day of careful movement you've managed to get away from the village and the army just outside it's walls. Your chance for relaxation wasn't long however as you had to move quickly to the border of the Land of Waves. This was where the Jonin Squad protecting you had to leave and return to the Hidden Leaf.

"Good luck little one, these diplomats are in your hands for now, but don't worry the ship from the Hidden Mist should be here within the day." The oldest Jonin had said with a gentle smile as he patted your head. "The Leaf trusts and believes in you." He said, before he and the other two jonin disappeared from view with a flash.

"Oh thank goodness we don't have to march any more. My poor feet are sore!" One of the diplomats, a fat one that never seemed to be in a hurry, said as he sat on a nearby bench and began to fan himself. "Oh look a sake bar!" The other, a young female, no more than 25 said with a look of excitement, as she headed off towards the bar. Somehow, you fear this won't be so easy as the Jonin let on. Odd is the world when a child is in charge of the defense of two adults, if semi-ninja ones.

Hokage-sama was going crazy. Period.
There was no way this was happening. Ok, sure, he was part of the Nara clan, but there was a very fine line between being a genius and an senile idiot, right? Sakura sighed as she slowly got further and further from her beloved home. After she had received the letter, her parents had put up a fuss, with okka-san eventually crying and murmuring something along the lines of 'oh child' and 'so proud' with a few depressing 'this is terrible's in between. She had left in a hurry and had only been able to say goodbye to her family and a few cousins and hadn't even enough time to bid farewell to any of her Academy friends she had made over the past few days. Hopefully they wouldn't forget her and remember to write.
It was a chilly morning, as she moved along with the team that she was supposedly in charge of, at least on paper. The Diplomatic Corps was just a name, really, with the Konoha Jonin Squad covering for them up to the border. It was nice to know that they were around, but even they had to part once Kirigakure was near. With a few last words of comfort from the senior Jonin, all departed for Konoha again with a swirl of leaves, leaving just the three of them behind. Without them, the comfortable silence suddenly became deafeningly terrifying, and Yuki tried not to jump at every single sound coming from her surroundings.
To calm her nerves, she looked to her companions. Apparently, the two were genin in status, as she had gleaned from their chatting. Those that couldn't pass the Chunin exams and were content with their low paying, but safe jobs as a genin later disbanded from their squad and went on to take desk jobs or diplomatic ones, like these. There was no room for action or training here, but simply a semi-normal life as an almost-civilian. It was a path most took after failing the Chunin exams several times, or for those weak of heart that didn't have the courage to advance. They didn't look very special, although to be fair, she hadn't really talked to them much during the travel and thus, didn't really know much about them. They seemed to prefer talking (rather loudly, as one of the Jonin squad members were complaining to the team leader) to themselves, mostly ignoring her for the most part. The pink haired child contemplated them for a while, before she remembered that she was the acting commander. But the two others seemed to have a different agenda.

"Oh thank goodness we don't have to march any more. My poor feet are sore!"The fat man said, as he sat on a nearby bench, fanning himself. He had been the one to constantly lag behind, seemingly unable to follow through with the pace the other two had set. Now he seemed to have lost all urge to move, and was plastered to the chair, gulping a generous amount of water before going back to fanning himself again. Yuki was all for getting some rest, but they really needed to find their ship departing time before moving out to do anything else. But the other female diplomat apparently had found something else more interesting.
"Oh look a sake bar!" she exclaimed, as she promptlyheaded towards said bar before the Uchiha child could say anything in response. "Wait, sake bar? Mayuri, wait for me!” the oversized male shouted, suddenly forgetting his tiresome long journey here, standing straight up and jogging over to catch up.

Yuki sighed, palming her forehead. Of course they were going to leave her in the dust. Of course.

Sakura growled and hurried up to follow the two. At least one of them needed to be sober if they were going to make it to Kiri in time.

The sake bar was a relatively simple affair, like much of the Land of Waves, compared to the likes of the Land of Fire that is. As it was midday the sake bar was mostly empty, with only older men and women, and fisherman who had come back into port that morning. For the two members of the Diplomatic Corps, this was no issue, and as soon as they entered they began to get the quiet bar riled up. Whatever marks of Konoha they had been wearing disappeared into their robes as they walked up to the bar, ordering several drinks for each of them. "This sake is just divine, a round for all bartender!" The fat one said as he happily finished off his first small glass of sake, much to joy of the fishermen.

The younger fishermen immediately began to swoon over the lovely female, likely the first they'd seen in several days time, and she seemed to bask happily in it. When one tried to rub her thigh however, she swiftly slapped his hand away. "It's impolite to touch some one you only just met." She said with a wave of her finger and slight giggle. The already slightly inebriated fisherman didn't seem to like that too much, and stood up angrily. "Uh, ohhh, some one's not used to being told no, is he?" She said with another giggle. "Be careful Mayuri, I do say he seems to be getting quite upset!" The fat one said with a laugh of his own, as he set about buying a few bottles for the rest of the trip.

The sake bar was already busy with commotion from the male's loud proclamation of free sake for all, and even more commotion coming from the younger populace gathered around the female. Although the Academy student technically wasn't allowed in just yet until she became a genin, she figured it didn't really matter and quietly slipped in, sitting in one of the empty sections of the bar. At least they seemed like they were all having fun, and the woman, if not the male, seemed to remember that they were still on a mission. Sadly Sakura had no ryo to buy anything with, but she figured that was just fine as well, as she snuck a few dried snacks from the two companion’s table, complimentary with the sake. If the diplomat noticed, he didn’t mention it as he turned to some of the already inebriated fishermen, clanging their mugs together.

As Sakura munched on some of the nuts that she had procured, she looked around and outside. It was slightly foggy, a mist that never really seemed to go away. It still didn’t matter too much, but she had heard that Kiri was famous for their thick mist and water techniques. A direct opposite from her Katon, but that could be overcome in time, hopefully. Turning to the bartender, she figured she might ask around for some answers. As she chatted with the bartender, she learned that he also had a child around her age, he had worked here for many years, that this sake creation method was passed down from his great-grandfather, and that the boat came to this town at 7 every day. They still had a bit of time before departure, so Yuki relaxed and decided to enjoy her first trip out of Konoha. However, she was distracted by a commotion from the other table. Apprehensive, Yuki turned to see an angered fisherman standing up at the woman. From what she had just heard, it seemed like he had tried to grope her, and the woman had simply slapped his hand away, which in turn angered the already inebriated male. At this rate, there was sure to be a fight between the two. As the male shouted something incoherent at the female, she also seemed to lose her sense of dignity and started shouting right back at him, offended. The male, now aware of the gravity of the situation, tried to calm both of them down, but it wasn’t working.

All the attention was focused on the three adults, but no one seemed to be stepping up to stop it. No, they seemed to actually enjoy this commotion, and this only served to appall her. But first, she needed to cool her partner down. Walking up to the three, she put on her best ‘please, for me?’ look aimed at the three.

“Nee-chan…” she implored, tugging at Mayuri’s sleeve quietly, also pouting at the other two males.

Diplomacy (Cha): Diplomacy represents your ability to convince people with kind words, negotiate via peaceful ways and get yourself out of hard situations with some mere words. With diplomacy you can change the attitude of an NPC from hostile to friendly. For example if you are captured by an NPC ninja from another village you can use several diplomacy checks to make him release you.
Formula: 1d20 + Diplomacy skill points + Charisma modifier. Vs Opponent’s sense motive roll or DC To change an NPC’s attitude.

Male diplomat / Female diplomat / Male fisherman
Fail/Success/Fail

(Supposing DC was 10 I think. Just trying out a few things since I haven't been on this guild in a while.. I hope you don't mind? You can just ignore the rolls and the diplomacy check, I just wanted to make sure I knew this stuff. >_<)

The female diplomat, the more responsible of the two if barely, let out a sigh as the little student pulled on her sleeve. They'd managed to have a little fun for a couple of hours at least. "Alright..." She started to say, before the drunken fisherman made himself a little more known, by attempting to push Sakura aside rather roughly. "Don't be going so soon!" He said drunkedly, as he reached down to grab Mayuki's waist and spun her around her, his hands roughly holding her to him. "I ain't done talkin to ya yet." He said, the smell of alcohol clear on his breath, even to the shorter Sakura. "Forget the child, why don't you spend the night with me?" He added with a drunken grin. "Now I say, that is very rude, and no way to treat a woman or a child!" The fat man said as he left his seat, moving over to them surprisingly quickly for his size. Meanwhile Mayuki struggled with the man's firm grip, unable to get away.

Yuki was roughly pushed aside by the drunken male who was surprisingly strong, considering his state. Although, perhaps his drunken state was exactly why he was stronger and more brash than he normally was. Probably. Gasping as she was knocked down, Sakura barely managed to avoid tumbling into the table behind her. Picking herself up again, she glared at the male, while tending to her bruised ego. Until a while ago she had hated these two with a passion, but now she found herself disliking this drunk male even more. Of course none of this wouldn't have happened if they hadn't come to the sake bar in the first place, but it was rather useless crying over spilt milk.

But really, she just wanted to go over and give that man a nice kick in the shin, or hell, have the other female do it herself. It was exactly what she was about to do as well, but then she had another idea. One that her partners may or may not really prefer, but was effective anyway. It was just up to their acting skills to not let the other person find out. Walking up to her two partners, she grabbed both their hands and glared at the inebriated fisherman who was still leering at the elder female. She could feel their surprise and questioning gaze, which would soon turn into one of surprise very, very soon. Taking a deep breath, she recklessly blurted out her plan.

"Kaa-san! To-san! Let's go, I don't like this place anymore!"

...Of course, there was that tiny slip up when she said 'nee-chan' a bit ago, but he was drunk, so he'd never know. And even drunk, he wouldn't touch a supposedly married woman accompanied by her husband and daughter, Right?

...R....ight.

I guess this would go as Diplomacy? Or Perform maybe? I'll go with the former for now. If all you need is a Sense Motive on your part, ignore the next roll. ^^

The drunken fisherman looked down at the girl, and let out a mild growl, as he roughly let go of Mayuki, and spat onto the ground. The fisherman staggeringly walked back to the table from were he had came, and sat down, immediately drinking more sake from a bottle. Meanwhile the diplomats, clearly seeing that whatever party they may have started had end, quickly left the bar, Yuki in tow. Once they were some distance away they stopped, and Mayuki turned and looked down at the student. "I don't know whether to scold you for making be look like a mother, and thus ruining whatever chances I had in this town, or to congratulate you on telling a very successful lie." She said with a half smile as she got onto a knee, to be eye height with Yuki. "Yes, bravo on your quick thinking." The fat man said with a light laugh. "Though, I daresay that had he not been inebriated already, he might have seen through it." He said as he wiped from sweat from his bald brow. "I would suggest that, in the future, if you seek to pass yourself off as someone's child or other relative, it might be a good idea to dye your hair, pink isn't to common a color you know." He added with a happy smile. "Regardless, well done." The woman said with a smile as she stood back up, looking for a way to tell the time. "Well there goes an hour or so, should be another four or five before our ship arrives."

Once the fisherman let go of her 'partners-in-crime', they quickly wrapped up the scene and left the place, not wanting to stay any longer than they needed to. As she left, the Academy student turned and made sure the fisherman wasn't looking and stuck her tongue out childishly before stepping out of the sake bar.

A little ways off, Mayuki gave her an exasperated stare, but with a small smile on her face nevertheless. "I don't know whether to scold you for making be look like a mother, and thus ruining whatever chances I had in this town, or to congratulate you on telling a very successful lie." Yuki stared at the floor, tapping the floor with the tip of one foot, embarrassed. It was a spur of the moment idea that may or may not have worked, but thankfully Kami-sama had smiled down at her and helped things along. "I just thought of it all of a sudden, although I didn't expect it to go that smoothly." The other male also congratulated her, though commenting on her hair color, which Yuki laughed off. "Hey, how about instead of me dying my hair, how about you die yours, so everyone will think it came from your side?" she giggled good-naturedly as they walked along the road aimlessly.

Soon though, the three realized that they couldn't simply wander around for the next few hours doing nothing but... well, wander around. It wasn't like they were here on vacation so she had no ryo with her either, but Sakura still wanted to rest a bit before getting on the boat. She was tired, and although she tried not to complain too much, her feet felt like they were going to fall off at any moment. The other two probably felt the same, and were just better at hiding it than she was.

So looking up, she gave both of them a smug grin. "Hey, this means you owe me one, right, kaa-san? she said giggling at the overly sugary way she said the words, and crossing her arms expectantly. We have lots of time left, so how about buying me some dango in exchange, and we'll call it even?" she bargained, desperately hoping they'd say yes. She loved dango with a passion, and it felt like it had been ages since she'd last had a taste of them. They were a cheap treat so it wasn't like she was siphoning off all their ryo, so she felt no guilt as she shamelessly tugged their hands to look for the nearest dango shop in town. Maybe there, she'd get to know these people better, as the little incident at the bar had given birth to the small spark to something between the three.

But before taking a step, she suddenly came to a stop, realizing something. Turning around, she bowed as she gave an apologetic smile. "Er... come to think of it, I didn't even introduce myself, did I? My name is Uchiha Sakurayuki, and I'm here because my Hokage was stupid enough to send me to Kiri. Douzo yoroshiku." she joked, waving the letter she had received a few days ago. "I just guess I was just too nervous to say anything since it's my first time leaving Ko... our village. So... Yoroshiku onegaishimasu!" she said bowing again, careful not to reveal any news about themselves that others could use to their advantage. "May I have the honor of knowing who I'll be traveling with for the next few hours, if not days?" she asked as politely as she could.

The fat one laughed at her comment, as he ran his hand through his non-existent hair on his bald head. "Perhaps, but I'd have to grow hair once again!" He said with a big belly laugh as they walked about. "Alright, I'll buy you some dango if it encourages you to keep working on a silver tongue." Mayuki said as she ruffled the young students pink hair. "Though the combat-nin get all the glory, having a silver tongue is always useful, even if they don't always like to admit it." She said with a smile. Meanwhile the fat one was looking all around, tapping his foot as if growing impatient. "This way." He said rather simply, before going off into an alleyway. With speed that was a bit uncharacteristic, he darted through the alleys and side streets. "Ah here we are!" He said as they came upon a small shop. "Best dangos south of the Leaf, or so I've heard." He said with a happy smile, as he lead them into the small shop. There were few tables, as few people knew of the place, and most simply bought what they wanted and left. The fat diplomat went up and ordered as Mayuki and Sakura sat down. He came back with a plate of a dozen dangos or so. "To a mostly successful journey!" He said with a big smile as he held up a dango stick and ate one off of it.

Sakurayuki felt a bubbling, giddy feeling inside as she heard both speak and had her hair ruffled kindly by Mayuki. It kind of felt like she was a mother figure to her, although she didn't say it out loud. It was nice to know that she had done at least something right in this voyage.

Following the male's lead, they were led to a small alley, past all the streets and shortcuts they made through the city. It was a wonder how he managed to navigate this place, and she was only able to conclude that perhaps he'd already been there before. According to him, they were the best dangos south of the Leaf, so Yuki was quite excited. You didn't get to eat these every day, especially since sweets were considered luxuries during travel. But then, that only applied to missions that were C ranked an above, when it got a bit dangerous. Either way, the trio had no qualms with deciding to satisfy their sweet teeth, and once the two female nin sat down, the other came by with a plate full of dango. The child's eyes zoomed in on the dango sticks, and she quickly clapped her hands an gave the male a smile of thanks plus an "Itadakimasu" before taking a stick.

"To a mostly successful journey!" he said, and Sakura cheerfully held up her stick as well, before digging in. One bite, and she was already in heaven.

"There are, amazing!" she exclaimed as she hurriedly polished off the rest of her stick and reached for another. "How did you know this place? It looked like you'd been in this city before." Yuki paused, as she bit down on a new piece of dango and chewed before swallowing. "Have you been to Kiri before then? What was the place like?" she asked, curious. After all, all she knew was Konoha, and the place she had lived in. Never having left Konoha's walls, she had no way of knowing any other place, and was quite curious to know what their destination was like.

The fat man, who'd revealed his name to be Aoi, laughed his usually belly laugh at her obvious enjoyment of the dango. "Well, I am a bit of a food lover, as I'm sure you can tell." He said, still laughing, as he rubbed his impressive belly. "But some of my friends are as well, and naturally I asked for their suggestions as to where to stop on the trip. Unfortunately, this is the first time I've managed to go to one." He said, waving his hand a bit, as he ate a few dangos himself. Mayuki meanwhile stayed quiet as she ate, meticulously wiping sauce and bits of dango from her mouth after each bite. "Remember you two, we must keep up appearances for when we reach Kiri." She said softly, with a light smile. "No outsiders have actually been to Kiri until very recently." She went on. "After the fall of the Masters, Kiri shut it's doors, refusing access to traders, and even then only those of the Land of Water and Waves. They were ruled by a council, until about half a year ago, when a new Mizukage was finally installed." She leaned in and spoke quietly for a moment. "It's said that the new Mizukage actually overthrew the council, but like the rest of the village, it's obscured." She finished, sitting back up. "As for the village itself, it can be very dreary, what with the fog and all, but it's people certainly are a happy lot, and very accepting, which is quite the change from their past!" He said with another laugh, and another bite of Dango.

Rolling the dango in her mouth before swallowing, Sakura listened to the two speak, as she absorbed the information from both. From the history of the land, to current events, many things had happened in that land, although the new Mizukage seemed like something of a peacemaker, since whoever this person was had arranged this diplomacy travel with the Hokage. Chewing on the tip of her dango stick as per habit, she gazed down at the half-empty plate to think. It sounded like Kiri was a scary place, but it looked like they both didn't seem too worried about going there. Their cool, calm attitude was something that Yuki envied, because although she didn't say anything aloud, she was still shaking with fear at the prospect of going to an unknown land. She knew it was ridiculous; Kirigakure was a hidden village just like Konoha, with hundreds of people inside its walls. Although, from what she heard from the rumors of the Mizukage, this person was definitely someone to look out for. And yet, she still couldn't bring herself to fully accept the fact that she need not be wary of them. Even though Aoi assured her that the people there were happy and accepting, there was that tiny nagging doubt inside her head that told her to beware of other shinobi.

A single memory came back to her, something that had happened a few years ago. Sakura was running, looking back to call her friends. But in her haste, she hadn't paid any attention to what was in front of her, and ran into a foreign shinobi. She had tried to immediately apologize, but the sudden fear that had stabbed through her was something she would never forget. At the exact moment the killing aura was unleashed, the shinobi of Konoha had filled up the place, and the traveler who realized his mistake had controlled his aura again, but Sakura, not knowing anything, had simply started to wail, loudly. Mortified, the Suna nin tried his best to pacify the pink haired child, but it ended up backfiring on him as the baby had put up a fit, thinking he was going to eat her. The event was wrapped up as a simple misunderstanding, but after that incident, she had a slight trepidation for foreign shinobi that still remained, after all those years.

"I...." Sakura faltered, before speaking up again. "Do you suppose it'll be ok? I mean... it's not.. Konoha. And they might not like me, but I can't afford to mess this up. If I did manage to make the whole of Kiri hate me, that would be horrid. What would Hokage-sama say? I'm just so... scared..." she trailed off... with her head down, unable to make eye contact with either of the two adults next to her.

"Don't worry child, you'll just be attending classes same as usual." Aoi said as he gently, and reassuringly patted Sakurayuki's back. "I'm sure you'll make friends easily enough." He said with a smile. "Yeah, just make sure you don't tell them your bloodline." Mayuki chimed in, rather unhappily. "If you thought Konoha had issues with the Uchiha, oh boy, you should see what the Mist had to deal with!" She said, with a slight laugh. She appeared to grow excited though as she began to tell the history of Kiri. "As you know, the villages were originally founded by various ninja clans banding together, of which our village, Konoha, was the first. The other three soon followed." She said. "The Land of Water was fairly sparesly populated compared to the mainland, so even of what few clans there were, even fewer possessed a kekkie genkai." She went on, evidently this was one of her favorite subjects. "This lead to much strife, and almost to the complete destruction of village and it's clans. Really until a few generations ago the clans were persecuted, if not outright killed..." Aoi cut her off, before she scared the poor child even more. "Mayuki hush, you'll scare the poor child." He said, almost angrily, well about as angrily as he could appear. "Aw, but I didn't even get to their problem with rogue nin, and the semi-legendary hunter-nin!" She said, pouting.

Sakura buried her face in her arms, cursing her luck as the female started to tell her all about a topic she seemed quite knowledgeable in. She had heard about this before as well, too. There was something called the great Naruto bridge, named after their late Hokage in the past. Supposedly in the story, they had met up with the last survivor of the Yuki clan who had the ability to create ice. It was a powerful thing, too, but the rest had all been killed because of their bloodline. Aoi cut her off, but Mayuki mentioned something about rouge nin and hunter-nin, which piped Sakura's attention, albeit in a morbid way.

"Ehh.... It's okay, can I hear more?" she said, taking up another dango stick.
