Things were looking good today. The sun was nice and bright out. There wasn’t a cloud in the sky as far as the eye could see. It seemed like the perfect afternoon to sit back, relax, and enjoy her day for once. Not that she didn’t enjoy her days prior to today. Each day was filled with miles traveled, soquili of all kinds passing by her day after day. Sanyue certainly enjoyed it. She enjoyed listening to conversations, learning about other soquili. Their stories. Each one was so unique and different. She had learned a lot so far during her time traveling around the kawani lands.
Today, however, today was something special. Something different. The wind caressing her feathers spoke of change. A welcoming change at least. And Sanyue truly didn’t mind. Reaching the underbrush heading into the forest, Sanyue gave a wistful smile to the sun overhead. While beautiful, it was very warm. It’d be better for her and her darker tinted coat to stay within the trees and relax by a body of water. It was something she learned while living in the desert. No doubt used to the hot temperatures, but since moving south she’d found comfort in the lesser temperatures.
Heading inside her claws dug lightly lightly into the cool dirt. The trees creating a canopy over head body. Her feathers were warm against her coat, but quickly cooling the further she went into the shade. It felt like an amazing contradiction. In doing so her mind began to wander a bit. Wondering how her people back home were doing. What they were doing. How the leaders were dealing with acclimating to a new life free of control. Sometimes she found herself wondering what would have happened if she stayed in her desert home.
Would she be further into the life of a leader?
Would the elder have kept her on as an advisor?
Would the herd have even agreed to it?
Either way Sanyue looked at it things were not meant to be back at home. And besides that if she did go back wishing to go further in the life of a leader she needed to be as well rounded in lore and world events as possible. Which was why she had been toying with the idea of creating a log of all the new types of creatures, trees, plants, and more to take back home. Knowledge was power. Knowledge was key to a good leader. At least that’s what Sanyue thought. Any knowledge she gained out here would be imperative to her home’s security and future. So she’d be happy to travel outside her comfort zone to obtain that helpful knowledge.
“Ah, there we are,” Sanyue murmured softly to herself as she happened upon a relatively small clearing with a pool of sparklingly clear water, “perfect.”

His life had become relatively predictable in the many suns and moons since Tanakh had officially left his family. During his foalhood he would spend his days leaving the seaside and adventuring into the forestlands. However, his adventures were more like bad dreams. He had met several figures, most of which thought him nothing more than some kind of beast, or something to mess around with for laughs. Not much changed during his transition into adulthood. He was still thought of as a monster, just bigger and a tad clumsier. The stallion did admit that he missed the attitude he held during his younger days. To face every situation with glares and a big mouth, yeah some said he was stupid and had a big ego, but to act brave made him feel better. These days he was more reserved. These days he spent his days hiding. The forest seemed relatively calm and quiet this day, but silence was a tricky matter. Silence could mean safety, but it could also mean danger. However, if the nesting birds were a sign of anything it was peace.
Peace was not something Tanakh had at the moment though. Something, someone had entered the forest some time ago, and it made him uneasy. Were they someone just looking for something to eat and a place to relax? Were they someone who came hoping to start trouble? As far as he could tell they seemed harmless, but he could also see so much from his spot behind the curtain of trees.
Feathers? Claws? Is that a beak? Is she one they call, what was the word, Gryphs?
He had heard others talk about his species that was still new to the lands. Horses that looked like they were gifted with traits for a bird, they said. Way more than any Wind or Angeni who only had their wings, but less than the so called Harpies. At least the Gryphs seemed safer than those of the Flock.
Maybe watching someone who could easily claw his eyes out if she saw fit wasn’t the best idea. He turned to leave only to step face first into an unseen tree. Stealth really wasn’t his thing when it mattered most…
