Erich is nothing if not suave and charming, especially toward the ladies. He enjoys nothing more than being in the presence of a beautiful lady or two... and romancing them out of their integrity. He plays romantic like a musician does a viola. Carefully plucking at all the right strings until his symphony is complete. He is exceptionally attentive and intuitive to his partners' needs and desires. Erich spares no expense in the wooing department either, offering all manner of gifts - from the quaint to grandiose.

Of course, Erich could never be satisfied with a single partner. Not even a single partner at a time. He often has several affairs going on at once, all carefully orchestrated to avoid running into one another. And his ever patient wife knows about them all, and tries to turned a blind eye to Erich's faithlessness. Never-the-less, he is always genuinely interested in all the women he pursues, and he gives them his full attention when he's with them individually.

A perfect partner for Erich, Audi is a shameless flirt who turns on the charm for every new hound he sees. He figures his the void's gift to hound-kind, and he flaunts that attitude like it's going out of style. Audi loves attention, preferably good, and preens when offered any sort of praise. He's a real cuddler too, lacking any sense of personal-space. He'll will himself into the laps of humans, and invite himself to a good nuzzle or mutual grooming with other hounds. Even strangers. Further-more, Audi isn't happy sitting still. He has to be doing something all the time, a trait that drives his bond crazy.

Waking up somewhere with no idea of how he arrived wasn’t something Erich was unaccustomed to, although he generally preferred a much softer sleeping surface. He came to awareness on his knees in the dark, over warm and entirely too over-dressed. Quiet bubbling filled the air, bringing with it the sweet-sharp scent of… soup? Erich wasn’t entirely sure. The smell was strong and heady. Entirely unhelpful with clearing his mind.
A soft light cascaded across the floor, create a silver silhouette around Erich and the… bowl in front of him. No. Not a bowl. A cauldron. He frowned – carefully, so as not to wrinkle his visage – and slowly pushed himself to his feet. He turned cautiously and pressed his hand to his brow to block out the light from the… from the…
Mysterious open portal swirling in front of him.
“I have done entirely too much drinking tonight.”
/ Or not enough! / a slick voice boomed around Erich’s head.
He took a few tentative steps backwards and squinted against the light, hoping to see the something that may have spoken. Hallucinations were so unbecoming. Erich dearly hoped he wasn’t having one.
/ Hey! Hey! Come back here. You’re not going anywhere without me. /
“Ah,” breathed Erich,” That might be difficult if I don’t know what you are. Or where you are. I’m not entirely certain you’re anything more than too much ethanol.”
/ Oh, I’m much more than that, pretty man. I - / there was a pause, as if the speaker had taken a moment to puff out his chest like a preening peacock. / I am a hell hound. /
“Uh-huh.” Impossible. But… Erich cast his gaze to the walls, faintly illuminated by the light of the portal. Etched into the stone were depictions of giant hounds engaged in battle with… odd looking… creatures. Some human figures armed at the ready next to them. Perhaps it was true.
Perhaps Erich had drunk just enough to convince him to believe the charming voice in his head.
“Let’s pretend for a moment that you’re real, and beyond that, telling the truth. Why don’t you just come out? Surely you can leave the cave.”
/ I can’t leave the cave if I can’t get out of the void. Obviously. And I can’t get out of the void without something from you. /
Ah. There was the rub. Needed the directions to his vault as well, perhaps? Erich would never be that drunk,” Money? Blood? My first born child?” As if Erich was ever going to reproduce.
/ Gross. What good is any of that? No. I simply want a real flesh and blood body… and the promise that you won’t love me and leave me, like your ladies. /
Simple enough. “And in return? What do I get?”
/ I am an atrociously good looking hound, I’ll have you know. I’m sure the ladies would love to fuss over me. I’m certain I can reel you in a catch or two. /
A very lovely compromise indeed.
“Very well.”
A sharp crack split the air. The light vanished. Something small tumbled along the ground and rolled against Erich’s feet. He stooped to examine it.
A little black and red pup stared up at him, his smile all teeth.
