Had common sense fled her mind completely? Belle glanced at the vista that lay before her hooves with dismay. A brisk wind chilled her flesh as snowflakes peppered her nose. What had happened to autumn? Where she came from winter held no power at least not like this. The only ray of hope for the mare was that she had finally found some individuals whom had given her confirmation of a positive match to her verbal description of Gaston. That day had been a joyous highlight in her arduous journey. When the day came that she could actually lay her gaze the stallion she was probably going to chew him out. It would of course be followed by a very serious talk. Belle knew that it would probably be an awkward revelation that she had to reveal to Gaston. She had a feeling that the bombshell she had to drop on Gaston would change both their lives. It probably would be the first time in Gaston's life that someone admitted what they had been thinking instead of the other way around. So many times in the past, back home, Gaston had found himself ridiculed for chasing after every available mare and professing his true feelings for them. It hadn't won him a lot of friends and probably led to the unfortunate ruse that had driven the stallion to leave abruptly.

B'Elanna groaned as she shook of the vestiges of sleep that had overtaken her and forced her to seek shelter to rest. The mare had slept fitfully as images plagued her subconscious mind in the form of nightmares. Although she had received confirmation of Gaston's passage through this land she was growing anxious to have her search be over. B'Elanna gave a soft sigh as she moved to the cave entrance. Her level of dismay grew before she dropped her muzzle to the ground and lipped at the snow that had blown in during the night. Her mind quieted a little as she felt the snow melt and provide much needed water. It would be a blessing not to have to search for a water source with so much snow on the ground. However the snow covered any possible foraging that she could do.

Her gaze lifted to stare at the white blanket of snow that extended far into the horizon. This next part of her trek was going to take every ounce of stamina that she had. She would have to keep her eyes open to potential dangers that this new environ held. Who could foresee what lay in wait just beyond that large outcropping of rocks or in the forested area way off in the distance? B’Elanna took a deep breath and placed her hoof into the powdered snow before setting out on the next phase of her journey. It would be a blessing if she didn’t have to spend all winter traveling.

It seemed as though spring had finally arrived in these lands. Flowers were blooming like crazy and the sun was shining in the sky every day. Of course there were the random days when one would have to seek shelter from inclement weather but most of the time the temperature was just fair enough to travel for most of the day. B'Elanna had been doing just that. The mare had put behind her some interesting, if not strange, encounters with a trio of Soquili and also one that happened to be far too morose for her liking. Who was she to complain though. Usually back home she was known as being a skittish sort, always running from confrontation.

In this strange place she found that she could not run away from any problems that she ran into. Thankfully there had not been too many issues that required this action from her. She just needed to keep her head high and focus on the task at hand.

Once, in a place that was rapidly growing dimmer in her mind, did a certain caramel colored mare flinch at the sounds that she associated with a storm. B'Elanna took in the darkening vista above her and bravely took another step forward. It seemed like certain folly to continue on her trek during what appeared to be a good sized storm. But as there was no shelter to seek out; it did not leave her with a lot of choices. She would have to keep traveling. At least if she continued to move she could possibly get through the storm faster than if she stayed out in the open in one place.

Putting one hoof in front of the other the mare ducked her head against the wind that was blowing in her face and gamely moved on.

The storm was behind her and B'Elanna spent precious minutes shaking water from her skin repeatedly. The downpour had been expected but rather surprising in its intensity. She had walked through the storm undaunted though. The mare snorted as a rogue raindrop pelted her on the nose and she turned her head to gaze at the sky in mild reproach. It was becoming clearer that these lands were vast and ever changing.

Gaston was out there somewhere though and B'Elanna was still determined to find him; perhaps more than ever now. She had seen him get in trouble back home and could only imagine the disasters that could have befallen the stallion since. Closing her eyes for a moment B'Elanna recalled the incident that she deemed the breaking point with a quiet sigh. Gaston should have known better that others would find a way to ridicule him. It was widely known that he chased after every pretty mare that was available. All they had to do to bait him into a trap was dangle a sweet offer in front of his face and he'd go for it.

Resolute in her determination B'Elanna strode forward again. There was something inside of her that was seemingly guiding her steps now. A warm feeling was blossoming deep in her heart like the flowers that blossomed in the warmth of the sun. She knew where her destiny led. The mare was certain of this. She belonged at Gaston's side. If the stallion couldn't see it than she would forcibly knock the idea into his head. Who knew what would happen after that? However faint the possibility was B’Elanna refused to believe that Gaston would turn her away after she spoke her piece. He would have to see that she meant ever word that she spoke. It was agony imagining the things that could go wrong with her plan. Gaston could reject her entirely or he could have even found someone else.

Shaking off the morose feeling that wanted to settle over her B’Elanna began to sing a song from her past quietly under her breath. The thought was that perhaps it would raise her spirits just a little more. She kept quiet though as she moved on, her eyes and ears alert to the tiniest movements around her. She had left her home to follow her heart and she did not wish to be surprised while finding Gaston. She wanted to be able to share with him her revelations and perhaps to hear that he felt the same.
