User ImageName: Caiwyn Esben
xxAKA: ...Caiwyn Esben
Age: 24
Gender: Female
Professions: Noble, light scholar, eligible lady NOT EVEN IF DEMONS SWARMED THE EARTH AGAIN (ice queen)

Affinity: Primary: Earth

Appearance: Generally the first thing noticed about Cai is her obnoxiously bright orange hair. Coupled with her fair skin and thick layer of freckles, she doesn't need the fine clothes and jewels to stand out in a crowd. Feminine attire can only do so much for the 5' 7" summoner. Her lack of curves, thick straight brows, and less-than-delicate jawline present a more androgynous appearance. She always wears her hair up in either a tight bun, or a braided coronet around her head.

Cai's clothing is rich, but austere in it's cut with only a few pieces bearing any trim or decoration. She doesn't often wear any accessories other than a thick coat in winter or poor weather and jewelery is limited to small studs in her ears and a necklace on special occasions. She's almost always covered neck to wrist to toes and prefers to wear gloved over her hands when she leaves her property.

Personality: Sit Down. Shut Up. Do as I say. Cai is in charge and you'll just have to deal with it. This is her show and she'll run it whichever way she likes. She wants her fingers in every little pie and everything to be done her way. Cai is very much the micro-manager. She'll constantly be on others backs, making sure they're doing their work properly. She likes to always have something productive to do. There are things to be done and people need to do them NOW not later or when they feel like it.

Cai believes she's doing what's best for those around her though many will just find her bossy. Cai will question anyone and everyone's methods if she doesn't think they're the best. "Why not do it this way? It would go a lot faster if you did this..." ect. While she won't make friends with those she bosses around, if given leave to do as she wants, she gets good results.

Cai doesn't like people arguing with her. She's very stubborn and set in her ideas. Things will go a LOT smoother if you'll just do as she says. She's quite blunt in telling you the truth and exactly what she thinks. Part of this may come from being born into privilege, but most of it is just a fault of personality. Cai doesn't tolerate slackers and if she, a noble woman, can prove herself then you had better work just as hard to earn the smallest morsel of respect in her eyes.

Cai has not pursued a career for herself, her family is well off enough to make hard labor unnecessary for their daughter, nor has she any interest in marrying for love or business. She devotes her time to studying anything that catches her interest, and running her household. She lives in a modestly sized townhouse owned by her family and has a small support staff in her employ. She draws a salary from her parents accounts that covers the bills, the wages, and her own interests (which include but aren't limited to advancements in science and medicine, as well as exotic and rare plants and animals). She's more likely to break the bank on an ancient book of medicine than on a fashionable gown or new hat.

Cai keeps a small conservatory in her backyard. Two stories tall and maintained by with a complicated system of gas lights and steam producing pipes, it is Cai's sanctuary day or night. The soft sound of little birds housed there is the perfect accompaniment to her evening reading and the cloying scent of exotic flowers and herbs more pleasing to her than any modern perfume. On the surface it looks like any ladies garden, stocked with decorative plants and trees, but tucked into small nooks away from immediate view are less...ethical plants. What purposes she puts those towards are her own business and no one needs to pay them any mind thank you.

Pros: Responsible, Organized, Honest
Cons: Bossy, Argumentative, Controlling

Maiara
User Image

Affinity: Water
Personality: Maiara chose well when she responded to this particular summons. There are few who could be as well placed for this cunning, intelligent hound. Let Caiwyn fuss about the details and logistics. Maiara has plans. Those plans are what occupy the darkest crevices of her mind. Everything she does is with the intent of furthering her own agenda and no one elses. You may not be able to see the connection right away, or even a few steps in, but it's there. Maiara is a patient hound and patience has it's rewards.

Maiara is always on the look out for secrets. With the help and influence of her affinity she collects information for future use. The smallest detail may be of no significance now, but who knows when later on that little detail becomes the missing key (or little black letter) to one of her schemes.

Maiara is smooth and pleasant with a quiet intensity about her. She doesn't bother to disguise her interest in a being once it's been caught. Maiara is a tactful socialite who really would do fine on her own without a summoner if it wasn't for that pesky pact.

To Non-Summoners: Maiara appears as a large, tailless golden shepherd. She's kept well groomed and clean, with a thick sage green soft leather collar that rides low on her neck.
Summoning

Caiwyn never ventured into the common basement of her estate if she could avoid it. She had her own private underground work space connected to her conservatory, but the basement connected to the kitchen was the domain of the servants and therefore none of her interest. All that was down there was the cold storage, pantry and a miniature wine cellar. She trusted the man in charge of her kitchens to do his job and keep things stocked and her budget in place. The fact that she went over every expense at the end of each month made sure of it. So maybe she didn't trust him as much as that.

When she heard a persistent banging coming from down there on the one day a week her cook had off Cai had no other choice. Her lady's maid had gone to look and seen nothing but Cai could hear it! She sent the woman off to bed in a rage, swearing over incompetence and threatening to fire the woman as daft in the head. The banging, like a hammer on a large pipe was driving her mad.

The wine cellar was empty of anything that could make noise. Cai doubted that the spiders were making such a racket. There was another door beyond the waist high barrels and through it, Cai discovered a long tunnel descending deeper into the earth. Something lit it from within but what she never discovered. The source-less light bore little interest compared to the bone vibrating intensity of the banging noise.

She felt as if she were in a haze, and this close to the origin of the noise, she felt as if she could see the sound waves bouncing off the walls around her. Cai moved mechanically. She didn't no what she was doing with the cauldron, nor could she hear the words she felt compelled to say but in a flash of light, before her stood a hound.

~ I can use you. ~

"No one uses me."

A smirk. ~ It will be worth your time. ~ The gravely purr sounded more feline than canine.

~ I need something of you. I need your power. ~

"And what's in it for me."

~ I have my uses.~ A flickering of images surfaced in her mind. Vague fragments of memories, both past and potential future none lasting long enough to be identified, fluttered through her mind. A feeling of wellness warmed her core and with it, a thrill of danger. Potential is what the hound offered. Potential that made Caiwyn's mouth water with longing.

"What do you need?"

~ A trade. A secret. A promise... Your trust. ~ Came the vague reply.

Caiwyn balked. Trust wasn't just given so easily. In Cai's experience it was rarely even earned. Somehow she knew what the hound was asking was much deeper than it appeared on the surface. A trade of power, the secret of her own private studies and experiments, and her promise... to trust this creature unquestioningly. To do as she asked without a hesitation. Cai met those green eyes and with one thought, the deal was done. Her conscious mind might have never agreed to it, but Maiara could see where her true desires lie and there was no other choice.
