Combat Skills


This page will give you a list of Combat Skills within Sword Art Online.




҂ ҃ ҄ ҅ ҆ Battle Healing User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

Allows the player to regenerate health during combat equal to the skills level every other post.

Prerequisites:


You must be level 10.
Effects:
Passive.
Your character gains HP equal to the skills level every 2 posts.

Leveling:

In order to level this skill you must constantly take damage after entering the "Red Zone" (Under 20% Life).

Allows the player to block incoming damage with his/her shield.

Prerequisites:
None
Effects:
Allows the player a chance to block incoming damage completely based on their shields rating.

Leveling:

In order to level this skill you must constantly block incoming attacks.






҂ ҃ ҄ ҅ ҆ Emergency Healing

Grants the player a burst of health upon reaching dangerous levels of HP.


Prerequisites:

None.
Effects:
Gain 0% of your maximum life upon reaching 10% total life
For every 40 levels in the skill you gain an additional 1% of life. (Granting 0-25% of your maximum life depending on the skills level.)
Has a 24 hour cooldown.
Leveling:

For every use, gain one level.








҂ ҃ ҄ ҅ ҆ Fighting Spirit

Increases allies health regeneration while causing enemies to focus their attacks on you.

Prerequisites:


This skill is available after completing a quest on <>
Effects:

Grants party members (Not the user) increased life regeneration equal to the skills level every 5 seconds.
The user will then gain aggression of all nearby monsters.
Leveling:

In order to level this skill you must simply use it. The more allies and monsters affected generally the better.

Makes all nearby monsters focus their attacks on the user.

Effects:
Taunts nearby monsters making them attack the user instead of others.

Gives a burst to health along with removing debuffs (other than paralysis).


Prerequisites:

Effects:
Grants a small burst of life to the player.
You gain 0% of your total life to start. Every 100 levels in this skill will grant an additional 1% bonus, up to 10% maximum.
Removes certain status effects.
​Removes all status effects on your character other than paralysis.
In order to use this safely you must switch with a party member or risk giving your opponents free attacks.
Can only be used once every 24 hours.
Leveling:

In order to level this skill you must constantly "Meditate" in combat.

Allows the user to parry all incoming attacks in return for reduced damage.


Prerequisites: None.

Effects:
Allows the player to parry all incoming attacks for reduced damage.
​The reduced damage starts at 45% and for every 20 levels in the skill you gain an additional 1% reduced damage (Up to 95% reduced damage)
At higher levels, counter attacking and disarming is available.
Leveling:

In order to level this skill you must constantly parry attacks in combat.

You must train "Fighting Spirit" in order for this skill to be unlocked.Spirit light


Effects:
Blinds all monsters and players that are around you for a short duration.
​The blind will only last three seconds, regardless of level.
Causes a huge amount of Hate to any NPC's that are blinded.
Leveling:

In order to level this skill you must constantly blind foes while in combat.
​The more foes that are effected, the more likely that you will gain a level.

Non-Combat Skills

This page will give you a list of Non-Combat Skills within Sword Art Online. Simply click on the skill for more information.If you wish to create a Non-Combat Skill of your own, ask an admin first.

ArmorsmithArmorsmiths are the few players that would rather sit in a city or village and craft armor and shields. They generally require a high level of strength.


Prerequisites:

Completion of "Armors of the Forge" quest located on the first floor.
Effects:
You have the ability to craft metal armors and shields.
Higher level blacksmiths have a better chance of crafting armor with multiple bonuses.

Leveling:
You must constantly craft armor or shields successfully. The better the stats on the armor or shield increases the chance of gaining a level in armorsmithing.




BarteringBartering allows the user to get better prices while buying from an NPC merchant and get more for their items while selling their items to NPC's. This is also a valuable skill to have when attempting to buy land or estate.



Prerequisites:

None.
Effects:
For every 20 levels in the skill you gain a discount of 1% (Up to 50%) while purchasing from NPC's.
For every 20 levels in the skill you gain an additional 1% (Up to 50%) while selling to NPC's.
Leveling:
You must constantly buy and sell items to NPC's'. The greater the value the better chance of gaining a level.




Cooking allows the player to make food with harvested or bought ingredients. The food generally tastes better than purchased food from street vendors.


Prerequisites:

None.
Effects:
Allows the player to create delicous food.

Leveling:
You must constantly cook food without burning it. The rarer the ingredients, the better chance of gaining a level.



Equipment Appraisal
Allows the player to accurately identify and price items.


Prerequisites:

None.
Effects:
The player is able to identify if the weapon has any additional effects after picking it up, or creating it.
Leveling:
For each successful identification, gain one level.



Familiar Communication
Allows the player to talk with certain monster NPC's. Please note that it is extremely rare to run across a NPC monster that would rather talk instead of killing you.


Prerequisites:

None.
Effects:
Allows the player to talk to certain monster NPC's.
If you run across a NPC monster and feed it their favorite food, they will join you as a familiar.
Leveling:
You must gain a familiar before leveling this skill is available. After gaining a familiar you gain levels as you would with a weapon skill. The more the familiar is in combat, the higher the chance of gaining a level.






Familiar RecoveryAllows the player to heal their familiar during combat.

Prerequisites:

None.
Effects:
For every 20 levels in the skill you heal your pet for 1% of its total health (Up to a total of 50%).
Leveling:
You must constantly heal your pet during combat in order to level this skill.





Fishing
Allows the player to catch fish which can be cooked using the cooking skill.

Prerequisites:

You must talk to a Master Fisher.
Effects:
Allows you to fish in areas your level.
Leveling:
You must constantly catch fish in order to gain levels.



Leatherworking
Leatherworkers are the few players that would rather sit in a city or village and craft clothing and light armor. They generally require a high level of dexterity.


Prerequisites:

Completion of "Fine Hides" on <>.
Effects:
You have the ability to craft all types of clothing and leaher armor.
Higher level Leatherworkers have a better chance of crafting leather armor with multiple bonuses.

Leveling:
You must constantly craft clothing or leather armor successfully. The better the stats on the armor increases the chance of gaining a level in leatherworking.


Medicine Mixing
Allows the player to create different crystals and poisons.

Effects:
Allows the player to create crystals and poisons.

Leveling:
You must constantly create crystals or poisons in order to level this skill.


Musical Instrument
Allows the player to learn, practive and eventually master an instrument of their choice.

Completion of the quest "The Gift of Music" on Floor 1.
Effects:
Allows the player to play a musical instrument.
Leveling:
In order to level this skill you must constantly play the same instrument.





Resource Refining
Allows the player to spot,collect, and then refine resources from natural deposits or creatures.

Prerequisites:


Completion of the quest "To the Roots"
Effects:

Allows the player to collect and refine all resources from natural deposits, or creatures. (Mining, Skinning hides etc.)
Leveling:

You must constantly collect and then refine materials.




Weaponsmith
Weaponsmiths are the few players that would rather sit in a city or village and craft weapons. They generally require a high level of strength.

Prerequisites:Weaponsmith

Sword Skills


«Sword Skills» are «Sword Art Online's» combat movements that are assisted by the system.

Mechanics
Sword Skills are activated when a player performs the appropriate «Pre-Motion» for a skill (such as raising a sword atop one's shoulder) and then allowing the program to take over and automatically complete the movement and combo at a speed that is normally near impossible for a player to achieve and dealing much more damage than a regular sword swing. After a skill is completed, the user is temporarily rendered rigid in a state called a «Post-Motion», in which the user is made vulnerable to any counter-attacks. The higher level the Sword Skill used was, the longer the «Post-Motion» period is. After a Sword Skill has been used, the skill enters a «Cooling» period, which is displayed as a cooling icon at the bottom of the player's view. Until this period ends, the same Sword Skill cannot be used, however, any other learned skills that are not in a cooling period can still be used.
The player's weapon typically glows in a color specific to a Sword Skill when the skill is activated. The amount of available Sword Skills and their type depends on the Weapon Skills that the player has trained.

Known Sword Skill Techniques

One-Handed Sword:
Slant - (1-hit strike) A simple sword skill slashing diagonally.
Vertical - (1-hit strike) A simple sword skill slashing vertically.
Horizontal - (1-hit strike) A simple sword skill slashing horizontally.
Uppercut - (1-hit strike) A simple sword skill delivering an uppercut.
Rage Spike - (1-hit strike) A basic, weak skill that leaps at the enemy and follows with an upward strike.
Sonic Leap - (1-hit strike) A charge-type sword skill that dashes toward the enemy to deal a downward strike.
Vertical Arc - (2-hit combo) A simple sword skill creating a 'V' shape trajectory.
Horizontal Square - (4-hit combo) A mid-level sword skill tracing the shape of a rhombus.
Vertical Square - (4-hit combo) A mid-level sword skill tracing the shape of a square.
Snake Bite - (2-hit combo) A left and a right swings that target the opponent's weapon, with a chance of breaking the weapon.
Sharp Nail - (3-hit combo)
Vorpal Strike - (1-hit strike) A heavy one-handed sword skill with a reach that is double the length of the blade and has high attack power. It has a long cool-down. 30% Physical, 30% Fire, 40% Darkness.
Savage Fulcrum - (3-hit combo) A sword skill that trace number "4" in the air. 50% Physical, 50% Ice.
Serration Wave - a single-hit area of effect (AOE) one-handed sword skill, a technique meant to impede movement and barely does any damage.
Howling Octave - (8-hit) Five high-speed continuous thrusts then cut downward, upward, before another full force upward cut. 40% Physical, 60% Fire.
Lightning Fall - a heavy ranged attack that involves kicking off the ground with full force and then stabbing the sword into the ground, shooting out blue sparks in all directions.
Parallel Sting - (2-hit combo)

One-Handed Curved Sword
Reaver - (1-hit strike) A basic sword skill.
Fell Crescent - (1-hit strike) A high-class charge-type sword skill that delivers a downward blow and covers a distance of 4 meters in 0.4 seconds.
Pale Edge

Two-Handed Battle Axe
Whirlwind - (1-hit strike) A basic spinning strike.

Two-Handed Sword
Avalanche - (1-hit strike) A high hitting high-level two-handed sword skill.
Cyclone (1-hit strike) - A two-handed spinning sword slash.

Bow and Arrow
Double Shot Shoots double the amount of arrows.
Precision Shot Shoots an arrow to a certain part of the body staggering them without missing. ((Stagers enemy for 2 turns.) Can not dodge. But cool down is 3 posts)
Arrow Storm Shoots down a barrage of arrows (20-30) lasts for 4 turns.
Hunter's Risk When out of arrows Hunter's risk activates giving the Bow wielder a +3 in STR and +5 in Dex.

Rapier Sword
Linear - (1-hit strike) - The first rapier skill learned that delivers a single thrust at the enemy at a great speed.
Star Splash - (8-hit combo) - A high-level one-handed thrusting sword skill.[6]
Flashing Penetrator - (1-hit strike) - A high-level strike that produces a sonic boom and looks like a comet.
Quadruple Pain - (4-hit combo) - A rapid four-hit thrust that can immobilize the target.
Shooting Star - A charging rapier sword skill.
Neutron - (5-hit combo) - a high-ranking extreme speed Sword Skill that delivers 5 consecutive thrusts. 20% Physical and 80% Holy damage.

Martial Arts (Extra Skill)
Embracer - (1-hit strike) An unarmed skill that pierces the enemy with the fingers.
Flash Hit - «Martial Arts» basic skill.

Knife Throwing
Single Shot - (1-hit strike) - A beginner Knife Throwing skill.

Katana (Extra Skill)
Tsujikaze - (1-hit strike) - "Whirlwind" A straight, long-ranged strike.
Gengetsu - (1-hit strike) - "Phantom Moon" A half-circle that moves irregularly.
Tsumujiguruma - (1-hit area strike) - An omnidirectional 360-degree whirling spin.
Ukifune - (1-hit strike) - "Floating Boat" Knocks opponent high into the air.
Hiōgi - (3-hit combo) - "Scarlet Fan" Upward, downward, then thrusting combo.
Iai - (1-hit strike) - One of the top techniques of Katana Skill.

Dual Blades (Unique Skill)
Double Circular - (2-hit combo) - A dash-type skill that swiftly attacks with the right and left sword consecutively.
Starburst Stream - (16-hit combo) - A high-class dual-blades sword skill.
The Eclipse - (27-hit combo) - The highest level dual-blades sword skill.

Holy Sword (Unique Skill)
Divine Sword - (1-hit strike) - Releases a strong light from the sword to blind the opponent.

Weapon Defense
Spinning Shield - A defensive skill that involves spinning one's sword like a windmill, forming a half-transparent shield with the sword.

Other Techniques
Meteor Break (7-hit combo) - A seven-hit combo, needing unarmed and one-handed sword skills, that uses tackles to chain together strong attacks.
Meteor Fall - (2-hit combo) - A Sword Skill that combines a punch with the user's right fist and a slash with a sword. The sword is thrown into the air before the first hit of the skill.
Minimal Side Step Defense - A defensive skill that simply involves an evading side-step. It has higher counterattack speed than parry or block, but it involves greater risks if it fails.

Prerequisites:
Constant use of the Martial Arts and One Handed Dagger skills.
Or
Constant use of the Martial Arts and One Handed Curved Blade skills.
Effects:
Allows the use Metal Claws as a weapon (Hybrid of Martial Arts and Blades)
Leveling:
Leveling requires the use of this skill.

Unique Skills

Battoujutsu
Battoujutsu (Art of Sword Drawing) is a «Unique Skill» on Sword Art Online. Battoujutsu allows the player to quickly draw their sword from the sheath, with the emphasis of this skill on cutting with the sword and usually incorporates multiple cuts after drawing the sword.

Dual Blades
Dual Blades (Two Sword Style) is a «Unique Skill» in Sword Art Online. The player with the fastest reaction time gains this skill. It was awarded to Kirito for being judged to have the fastest reaction speed in the game, and is meant to be given to the person who will stand against the final boss. In addition, it also has its own set of Sword Skills unique to it. Kirito wields Dark Repulser and Elucidator for this strongest sword set.

Holy Sword
Holy Sword is a «Unique Skill» in Sword Art Online. It allows the player who possesses the skill to freely switch between offense and defense, allowing near impenetrable defenses. Leo (LeoIsh) is the only person who has this skill.

Mjölnir
As there is no magic in SAO, the player with this skill doesn't gain any power of lightning, however the hammer does have the ability to temporarily stun anyone/thing hit by the hammer. This «Unique Skill» can be parried or blocked, but it temporarily disables the Parry and Block Skills. The hammer is presumed to be very heavy and easy to dodge due to its huge size and weight. Getting hit by this will almost ensure a devastating blow. These effects are drastically reduced against Dungeon Bosses.

Acrobatics-Allows the player to climb or sprint up walls, and how well they can dodge attacks

Berserker-A skill that activates when the Player's Health drops below 25%.

Prerequisites:

You must be level 10.

Effects:
Passive

Damage is lessened by 50% and Player's Strength is temporarily increased by 25%.

Puts Player into a Rage, draws Monster attention to Player and makes it difficult to stop Fighting.

Inactive outside of Combat or when Health is over 25%, upon deactivation Player will feel Fatigue for half the time the Skill was active.

Leveling:
Have the Skill activate during combat. The longer it is active the better.



Camouflage Player Icon Color- Allows the player to change their player icon color for 2 hours at the start, and it adds 30 minutes for every 50 levels in the skill, The max this ability can last at a time is 12 hours.

This skill has a 48 hour cooldown period

Detection-Allows the player to detect enemies and players that are hiding

You need to detect players and monsters to level up this skil



Extended Weight Limit-Allows the player to carry 10 more items in their inventory.

This skill cannot be leveled, or unequiped.


Heavy Metal Equipment- Allows the player to wear Heavy metal Equipment.

Reach level 650 in light metal equipment

Allows the equipping of heavy metal armor

Level by taking damage while wearing heavy metal armor



Heavy Shield Equipment-Allows the player to wear Heavy metal shields.

Hidden Player Icon Color-Allows the player to hide their player icon entirely by placing a hood over their head.

Night Vision- Similar as Searching, but also allows the user to see in the dark as if it were daytime.

Pursuit-Allows the player to view any known players footsteps from a certain time. Also increases the chance to find monsters when activated.
