Tortali had enjoyed Thanksgiving. It had been nice to spend some time with her girlfriend…even though the dinner had ended up being frozen pizzas. Anella tried, she really did…sometimes it just didn’t…work. And cooking was really the one thing that didn’t work.
The frozen pizzas had been good though. She was walking in the park, thinking about the night and had a bit of a smile on her face. Ah well, no turkey, but she never really liked it that much anyway.
She was a little bit chilly tonight, but it wasn’t stopping her from patrolling, though it seemed like it was stopping everything else. Nobody seemed to want to be out tonight, it seemed like it was just a much better idea to stay indoors and just relax. Maybe eat some leftovers, or watch something nice on the television.
Maybe she should just take the hint and go back home herself. Then again, maybe she’d stay out for a few more minutes. It couldn’t hurt anything, at least.
The super senshi continued walking and gave just a little shiver. The one bad thing about being a senshi was you got a little lazy with minding your surroundings. She was so used to feeling if there were people close by. Looking for them just seemed like a thing of the past, so of course when there were people around, they were easy to miss.

Eric shivered gently as he sat on the bench, trying to think of what to do now. It was cold out, there was no doubt about that, but he didn't have coat to warm him or a place to go.
He plucked the stings of his guitar idly, not hard enough to make much noise. His fingers were too cold to really play, but going through the motions helped him think. He couldn't sleep outside tonight, but his pal was out of town for thanksgiving so he had no couch to crash on.
So here he sat, staring down the barrel of what was clearly going to be a night asleep in the bus station. He just didn't have the heart to admit it to himself yet, and was still going over his options.
That's when he saw her walking through the park. A senshi! He fumbled in his pocket for his notebook and a disposable camera with only a few shots left on it. The flash went off as, while trying to get it out, he accidently snapped a shot of his pant leg.
"Oops." He muttered quietly, loudly winding the camera back up for another attempt. It only had one picture left now, he'd taken too many shots of birds the other day.

The flash of light and the strange winding sound made the senshi pause and look over, blinking as she saw the…the civilian standing there. Oh. Oh well maybe there were people out and about. Well. This was kind of awkward.
Tortali gave a little wave. “Hi there. Uh. What’s up?” What else was she supposed to say to this guy? Yo, what’s up, why aren’t you at home like everyone else is? No. That was kind of rude…but hey. It did make it difficult to keep civilians safe from the evils of the city when they were out here all alone with a camera. Why wouldn’t a negaverse agent just go after him for fear that he would see something he shouldn’t? Oh he had to learn something.
“It really isn’t very safe for someone like you to be out by yourself at night…this is a kind of dangerous city, you know?”

Eric froze. Oh no. She had seen him. She was talking to him. What did he do?
"Yeah, well.... yourself!"
That hadn't been what he'd meant to say. He had to think. He knew what he'd been told. The senshi were dangerous, not to be trusted. And she'd just told him what a 'dangerous city' this was. Was she threatening him?! Well, two could play at this game.
"You cannot break the truth! It will find a way! You can take-"
Nope, not going with the William Wallace line. He liked that movie, but he was irish. He was going to handle this like an Irishman. But sober.
"You can't take my freedom!"
There. He'd showed her. It might be a good time to run, but he kind of wanted to hear her response. He'd met a few senshi that seemed to break the mold, and while he knew there were ones out there who wished him ill he hadn't met them yet. He needed to know their agenda.
He gripped his guitar tightly and waited for her response.

Tortali stared at the guy and blinked slowly. “I uh…” She blinked again, looking completely confused. “I don’t want your freedom? Seriously, you can keep it? Are you just rehersing for a play or something? Or are you really just…” She shook her head. “Are you drunk?”
Or high. He might be high. Or just crazy, that was a thing too. People could be crazy.
She scratched the back of her head, still feeling a bit strange with the fact she had a hood covering her hair. It was a strange feeling to have it there, but she would have to get used to it. There was no going back to her old fuku now.
Anyway. It wasn’t the time to think about such silly things. There was a possibly drunk, possibly crazy civilian in front of her, clutching a guitar tightly.
“Do you need help…? Should I call for an ambulance?” Maybe he wasn’t crazy. Maybe he had just been attacked by the negaverse or a youma…that could make anyone a little touched in the head.

Eric blinked also. This isn't what he had expected either.
"Er. You're not just saying that are you?"
It could be she was just saying that. Of course, anyone could just say anything. He could have been lied to from the start. Or now. Oh it was all so confusing.
"Well, what about my soul? Money? Liberty? I guess that's the same as freedom. What's your angle?"
Hed been told they wanted to control the world, but usually that required some sort of intermediary step. Like, mind control or something.
"Er, if you care to speak on it."

“Uh…” She shook her head. “My angle for offering to call you an ambulance is you’re kind of freaking me out, to be perfectly blunt and honest. Why would I want your soul? Or money? I don’t understand what you’re trying to talking about, sorry.”
The senshi rubbed at one of her arms, glancing around, wondering if she should just make a run for it. This guy didn’t seem to be making any sense, and she was so very glad that she was faster and stronger than him while she was powered up.
It would make running away a whole lot easier.
“So um…does that mean you do want me to get you some help? Or not?” It was a valid question, clearly.

What was going on? Clearly she should be making some grand speech about good and evil, why was she just standing there looking awkward?
Eric was quite sure this wasn't how things were supposed to go. Evil masterminds were supposed to ramble on about power and the truth of good and evil and then inexplicably kill a henchman for something that totally wasn't their fault.
This girl came of more or less just awkward.
"You are a, uhm, senshi right? One of those ones that abducted us all and brought us all to space and whatnot?"

“I uh.” She blinked. So he knew about the senshi? Like, by name? Well. Way to throw her off even more. Maybe he was crazy, but maybe he still knew things? Like…half crazy. Half mad…half uh. Shaved. “Yeah. I’m a senshi.”
Tortali hesitated then held out a hand, giving Eric a look. “I’m Sailor Tortali, Super Senshi of Grudges. And uh. Stuff.”
She really wasn’t sure what to do right now. Wasn’t sure at all. “I’ve never abducted anyone before…unless you count my girlfriend…but I promise you, that was a mutual thing…and uh. Yeah.”
There was no need for him to know or hear about any of that. But what did he mean by abducted us and brought us to space? She looked confused. “When did that happen?”

Eric thought about all this for a second. He counted himself as a good judge of character, and believed he could read faces (He was wrong on both counts, but what can you do?) and he wasn't sensing any deception here.
"Wait. This doesn't make sense. You guys were all there, we were in space and there were roads made of rainbow. And then I met Re- A valuable source of information who gave me the details of how the Senshi planned it all. Well not how. Just that they had. Done it. Just that they had done it."
Laid out it actually wasn't overwhelming evidence.
"But you know all about that, don't you!?"

Tortali was really starting to get worried. Both about her own well being and for this guy’s sanity. “I’m really sorry, but the only rainbow road I know is the one from Mario Kart, and I don’t know what you’re talking about…so uh…what are you talking about?” If he wasn’t just spewing nonsense…well. Than this was something that she had to find out about.
It was kind of worrisome when a seemingly normal…albeit slightly crazy civilian started saying that she was part of the senshi group that had abducted him…because…
Well. She had no idea that any senshis had abducted civilians…and if this was really, or had really been a thing…she wanted to find out so she wasn’t caught in a situation like this again.
“Look, I’m sorry for whatever happened to you in the past…but uh. I had nothing to do with it and you know…despite me being the senshi of grudges…I know they’re not the best things to hold, and it seems like you’re holding a pretty heavy one against us senshi…and I’m really sorry for that. Because…I know I at least am trying to be a good guy in this war…”

Eric thought for a moment, then picked up his notebook and started writing.
"Senshi... of...grudges... doesn't... know... about...Rainbow... roads. Plays... Mario...cart." He stopped and looked up at her again.
"Is that something all senshi do, or just you? Mario cart, I mean. I'm not sure if that's important but it might be."
This was good, he was getting information. He wasn't sure about the information he was receiving, if it was true or even useful. The Mario cart thing, admittedly, probably wasn't. But in either case, anything he could find out might help him later.
"And would you care to elaborate on the war you mentioned?"

Suddenly she felt very, very uncomfortable. Why was he writing this stuff down? For a second it seemed almost like a trap. Maybe he was just some negaverse agent in his civilian garb just playing dumb to learn things about her ad the senshi. To figure out some method of weakness for them.
Tortali shook her head. “I don’t know. I don’t know everyone…Mario Kart is just something I used to like…and if you don’t know about the war, well. You have better open your eyes. What kind of a city do you think you’re living in? Why do you think people go missing on a daily basis? You’re living in a war zone…and if you can’t figure that out…then maybe you’re not worth protecting…”
She turned around and took a deliberate step away. “Anyway. It was nice talking with you, but I had best be on my way. Stay safe.”
Or just go back and report all of this. She hadn’t given anything important away at least…so that was good. Sometimes people were jerks.
