A Chance Encounter 11/24/13

Vein glanced up at the starlit sky, teal eyes half closing as he smiled. It was pleasantly cool tonight, not quite cold enough to see his breathe, but not warm enough to be uncomfortable. The trees around him were darkened, with only the outer row by the lake being illuminated by the half moon.
"It's so nice here. I should bring Marcello here one day, him and Lily..." He settled back on the grass, stretching out comfortably. "Mmn... Speaking of them, I should visit some time soon."

Filamena fitted through the forest, unaware of her destination, only the pleasant noises of the forest at night. Her ghostly tail whipped against passerby, leaving them with the unpleasant sensation of a chill and a visitor unseen. Her bright orange eyes trailed over the scenery, taking it all in. She couldn't remember being in this forest before, which was unusual. She was certain she'd explored most of the land in this area. She slipped through a tree, rustling its branches with her ears, but leaving no clear trace she'd ever been there when she spotted a noodle speaking to herself. She cocked her head to the side, curious. Was he telling a story? She crept closer to the noodle, careful not to make a noise. She wanted to hear more.

"Ah, Lily... Little precious Alice... How you've changed my dear friend. For the better, I should say!" Vein laughed to himself, his tail flicking side to side. His ears twitched from the cool breeze, listening to the faint rustle of leaves. He smiled as he continued thinking aloud. "Marcello, I hope you know how lucky you are. You were always such a prude, a cruel man... But you have your little Alice now, and I hope you are happy."
Vein was a bit envious of Marcello. He craved a companion; not necessarily a lover, just someone to spend time with. He sighed faintly, curling his tail around him for some warmth as the wind made it colder.

Filamena crept ever closer, her tail absentmindedly brushing against a berry bush. She froze up suddenly, ready to take flight if need be. People never did take well to her arrival. She supposed it had something to do with her ghostly-ness, but she could never be sure. After all, it wasn't like they stopped chasing her away for a polite chat, although that sounded lovely. She slowly made her way backward. She was curious as to who Marcello and Alice were, but she wouldn't ask. She just needed to make her way out without being seen.

"Is someone there?" Vein had stood and turned to look towards the rustling sound. He didn't sound afraid, though he did feel uneasy. There was no wind to blame it on, but it could have been a small animal like a possum. But he could almost swear he saw something white creeping away through the brush. "Hello?" He tried calling again, hoping to entice whatever was there to come out. "I won't hurt you..."

Filamena stayed in her place, crouched next to a bush where she'd hidden when he'd called out. She wasn't sure why she was hiding; he seemed pretty nice. At least, he hadn't attacked her. She bristled. But then again he hadn't seen her yet. She took baby steps out of the woods into sight. "W-Who are Marcello and Alice?"

The crimson red noodle seemed startled by her appearance and took a step back. But he shook his head, a smile forming on his face as he sat back down, gesturing with his tail for her to come closer. "Marcello and Lilyanna, who I call Alice, are precious friends of mine... Would you like me to tell you about them, Miss...?"

She seemed visibly soothed by his smile. Good. He wouldn't hurt her? "Yes, I would." She sat on the ground, coming no closer just in case, and waited for him to tell her a story.

"Marcello is my childhood friend, you see, but he moved away to Germany several years ago. About two years ago, he returned to London to find his younger brother, Drucillo. They've never gotten along, and they would always fight to the point of near killing one another. This changed when Marcello met Lilyanna." Vein smiled, urging her closer. "She is a sweet little thing. She's blind, but she doesn't let that stop her. Marcello gave her the nickname of Alice since she favors the Alice from the stories of Alice in Wonderland. He was obsessed with it, so we call him Hatter, and I am called March."
He smiled gently, his tail and wings twitching against the cool air. "But you may call me Vein. And what is your name?"

Filamena listened intently, not moving a single bit. She didn't want to scare him off while he told her a story. "Hello Vein," she murmured, vibrant orange eyes wary, but hopeful. "I am Filamena Fright. But call me Mena." She cautiously took a step forward, uncertain if this was okay. They were friends now, right? This was how these things went?

"Pleasure to meet you, Mena..." He chuckled, his tail swaying behind him. "It's alright, I won't hurt you. You don't have to be so cautious, a pretty thing like you~"

She took another little step forward. He sounded very friendly, but did he know what she was? She was pretty sure he wasn't aware, and people didn't usually turn violent until they did. Noodles tended to vary in appearance, so one never could be sure. "You too." She tilted her head to the side. "People don't like me very much." To test him, she brushed against the trunk of a tree as the moved toward him, allowing herself to slip through the trunk momentarily. She continued forward as if nothing had happened, but there was a very calculating look on her pale face.

Vein blinked and stood in surprise. He had noticed something different about this noodle, mainly that she didn't quite have a distinct scent. But seeing her pass through a tree sealed that she was indeed abnormal. "I can't see why people would dislike you at all." He settled back down, sitting once more as she came closer. "You seem very sweet." Vein was never one to judge by appearances, especially after meeting Lilyanna. She may have looked sweet, but she was skilled at manipulation.

She blinked. She hadn't expected him to simply accept it. She'd seen the slightest emotion in his eyes when she'd passed through the tree, but he hadn't reacted or mentioned it or attacked her . . . It was almost as if he was okay with it. Was that possible? "Really? Not at all?" She allowed her wisp of a tail to pass through a bush, as if it pleased her, but in reality she was just testing him again. She didn't buy it. Too many noodles had responded negatively to the truth. Maybe he'd missed it? She would've blushed if she'd still been alive, but in absence of blood to rush to her cheeks, she just bowed her head. "That's nice of you to say."

"Well, if you're referring to the ghost thing you seem to have going on, then I guess some wouldn't take it well. I've seen a few things in life, and some are stranger... Besides, you don't seem the malevolent sort of ghost." His tail swayed, displaying his unease. He didn't mind at all that she was a ghost, but the reveal indeed startled him. Whatever he had expected from this pretty noodle, her being a ghost wasn't on the list at all.

She nodded solemnly. So he noticed after all. It was a strange feeling, being accepted. The usual bout of terror was absent, and he was willing to tell her stories too. No running in terror, screaming, crying, anger . . . He was talking to her as if they were friends. "I'm not-I just like the stories." It was true. She'd been haunting various campfires for as long as she could remember, literally-all she could remember were the campfires. The slight sway of his tail told her that he wasn't as pleased with her being a ghost as he let on, but it wasn't as if he was doing anything about it. "Do you like stories too?"

Vein smiled as she spoke again and his tail now stilled and rested behind him. "I do like stories... I could tell you more stories, if you'd like. About me, my friends... I can't promise they're all happy, though..." He laid down on the grass, his tail wrapping around him as he watched her. "Come, sit with me."

Filamena smiled as his tail finally stopped moving. Was he becoming more comfortable with her? Could that happen? Her tail swayed from side to side in excitement, allowing herself to do whatever. He didn't seem to care. "It's okay! Any stories!" She cautiously trotted closer and sat down across from him. She still wasn't sure it was okay to stay very close, but she considered it progress to get this close to him.

He grinned and nodded, seeming to think over his next story. "Okay, I have one..." He thought it rude to lay down while telling a story so he sat up once more, nodding. "Once upon a time, there was a lovely young woman who was very lonely. She had few friends, and no family, and any lover she had merely used her. One day, she contemplated taking her own life. As she stood on a chair, rope around her neck, a demon appeared before her."
"He was a dapper gentleman, dressed in white. The woman almost thought him an angel, had he not stated he had come to take her into Hell. But he made her an offer, stating he will grant her a singular wish before she died. She had been so alone and distraught, where had this man been before? So she asked him if she could live a bit longer, and she wished for him to be her companion for a few years. The demon man was surprised, but he nonetheless acknowledged her wish and granted it."

Filamena listened with the rapt attention of a child. She seemed entranced by the tale. There was no way this had anything to do with her past life, but it was an excellent tale regardless. She could imagine how sad it must be for the poor lonely noodle; she was almost like her. She could only hope she might make enough friends soon, though, that she wouldn't consider making a demon her companion for even a little while. Especially if he was waiting for her to die. She must have been so sad . . . She felt a small smile form. That poor noodle. She would have been her friend if she'd have met her at any point, although hopefully she wasn't too afraid of ghosts. She waited hopefully for more.

Vein noted Filamena's smile and returned one of his own as he continued. "A year passed in their companionship, and the demon and woman fell in love. The woman's wish became a contract, and the demon allowed her to live as long as the contract should last, though he never told her when it would be time to pay up. A few more years passed and the couple had a son. He favored his father, but he shared his mother's eyes. The family was very happy for another six years. Then is was time for the contract to end."
"The demon ate his wife's soul, as was their agreement. He did it without a second thought, and it made his son, who had watched this, believe his father never truly loved his mother. From then on, the son never saw his father again. He never looked and never cared to find him. The young noodle is grown now, and is glad he only looks like his father, despite being half demon himself."
His tail flicked and he smiled. "And that's the story of my parents."

Filamena frown only grew as the story continued. It was obviously not going to be a happy story; it hadn't been cheerful at the beginning either. It seemed sort of cheerful-ish that they had fallen in love . . . and had children . . . but then he ate her soul?! She teared up a little bit at the end. That poor woman . . . that poor boy. She listened quietly to him up until the end. She really had to restrain herself not to do something that might threaten their fragile relationship . . . like hug him, or outright cry, or just scream "WHAT?!" at the top of her lungs. She sat there, giving nothing away, before finally whispering, "I'm sorry."

Vein's smile didn't really falter, and his tail swayed. "There's no need to be sorry... I should be apologizing for telling you such a sad story. I've come to terms with their story, and made my peace with it... I do miss my mother, though." He stood and jerked his head, indicating he wanted her to come with him. "I can tell you a happier one. I'll make one up, just for you~ Will you walk with me while I think one up?"

"No, no . . . It wasn't a bad story, just a sad one. There's no need to apologize, it was very interesting." She stopped talking about it. It wouldn't be very appropriate for her to comment on a real story about his parents. After all, what right did she have to make opinions? She barely knew him. She stood up and followed him. "I would love to."

"So, while I'm thinking... Why don't you tell me a little about yourself?" He smiled as she walked beside him, feeling a bit colder in her presence, since she was a ghost. But he hardly mind in the least.

"Well I'm a ghost . . . And that's really as much as I know. I don't remember my life before dying or why I'm here, just that I am. I love campfires and stories, and I imagine I'd love food if I were alive; it seems intriguing. I didn't used to have any friends or family, although I have a friend now . . . ?" She looked at him curiously, hoping she hadn't jumped the gun here.

Vein laughed lightly and nodded. "Yes, I'm your friend now..." He found the ghost to be amusing, and he liked her company despite having just met her. "So, you've no memory of being alive? Not even of how you died?" He felt a little sorry for her, having no memory. But if it was anything tragic, he considered no memory of it better. "Well, if it helps, it doesn't seem like a demon ate your soul or you wouldn't be here now." He smiled at her again.

"Oh, okay." She breathed a sigh of relief, not sure if it was because she'd made her first friend or because she was relieved she hadn't made some sort of social blunder and he wouldn't like her anymore. Probably the latter. "No, nothing. I'm just here. I'm trying to find out, but most people aren't very willing to discuss anything with me, let alone my past." It was a very frustrating predicament, not know yourself. She'd had to piece together a personality, so she at least figured that she must have acted like this during her life, although for all she knew, she might have been a total . . . female dog. "There's always a plus." She smiled pleasantly. Honestly, she'd been living like this so long that she could float along without feeling incomplete anymore. She had enough of history, longer than her human life, or so she suspected. Certainly more entertaining, although who knew?

"I hope you don't mind that I happen to be half-demon..." Vein looked rather embarrassed by his heritage, but he shook it off after a few moments of thinking. "Anyway, I think I've thought of a happy story. Would you like to hear it?"

She tilted her head to the side curiously. "Why would I mind? I'm a ghost and you don't mind, so why should I mind? We can be different together." Yes, that was a good way of putting it. She'd made a friend with a strange background, just like her. It was wonderful. She nodded. "Very much."

Vein grinned, tail near wagging in his happiness. She didn't mind his demonic blood. Granted, he had a few other friends who didn't mind it either, but it still made him happy. "Okay, are you ready?" He took a deep breath and began his next story.
"Once upon a time, a young boy met a strange girl. She seemed terribly lonely, so he offered to keep her company. She told him she had no friends and that people always ran away from her. She looked so sad when she told the boy about it, and the boy just smiled. He told her he didn't understand why anyone would run away from someone so pretty and friendly. He asked if she would go walking with him so they could get to know each other."

She walked along side him, careful not to make a sound with her body that might disturb his storytelling. She allowed her body to slip into its ethreal state so that it could pass through everything without a sound. It was better not to take the chance to miss part of his tale. He was an excellent storyteller. This sounded very familiar . . . like their story. Her ears perked, her head tilting to the side. Was it their story? She wondered how he might see the story progressing.

"The boy thought the girl was very nice, and he liked her company. He had been lonely himself since his friends moved away. The girl liked hearing him talk about his friends, but he wanted to know more about her. She told him she didn't know much about herself, and he was sad. He wanted to help her find out who she is, but how could he ask that without seeming weird?" Vein glanced at her before returning his attention to the path they walked on.
"The girl thought about it, and she liked the idea of having someone help her. And she seemed really happy to have a new friend. The boy, despite having just met this strange and lovely girl, he really liked her. He felt it might be simple desperation for a companion, and he didn't want to scare her away. But he was happy enough to be her friend. She had looked so lost, so lonely, that he felt compelled to feel he belonged at her side, as her friend."

A grin split Filamena's face, and she bit her lip in a valiant attempt to hide it, but of course failed miserably and just looked, if anything, even more excited, just trying not to show it too much. She nodded at him, just as her other self in the story did, as he continued. She really would love to have someone accompany her. He was very sweet, although she was too shy to tell him outright. She tried not to do anything too openly excited as he went on an couldn't help it. She stopped and allowed her body to take on its solid form and hugged him. This made her a little nervous afterward, but she couldn't help it. He was so adorable! And he'd called her lovely! No one had ever done that in the long history of her ghostly afterlife. "I'd love it if you'd come. Would you really?"

Vein chuckled and returned the hug gently. He nodded as she pulled away. "Of course I would. Going on adventures is no fun by yourself. And I'd love to accompany you for as long as you want." He smiled brightly, lightly headbutting her shoulder.

She mentally considered the fact that that could be a very long while. She was not used to having people tag along, and she didn't know if she would ever want him to not stay with her. Was that really comething she should mention, though? Probably not. "Promise you won't leave?" she mumbled, uncertain. She wouldn't look him straight in the eyes when she asked it, hopeful but not sure if he would really go for it.

The crimson noodle dipped his head low in a nod, nudging her again. "Of course I will. I've nothing to do with my life as it is, and I have a very long life ahead of me as a half demon... So, I'll stay with you forever if you want me to."

Filamena would've blushed if only she'd been alive again. She looked up at him, beaming from ear to ear at him. She pounced him then and there, maybe a little too excited, but she'd found someone who'd stick by her side. She wouldn't be alone anymore! She'd made a special friend! It was more than she'd experienced in her long life as a ghost. "Thank you!"

Vein laughed and laid still as she pounced on him in her excitement. He was glad she was so happy. It was nice to see her smiling rather than looking so lonely. "You're very welcome, Mena..." He headbutted her shoulder again with a smile, his way of showing he was pleased too.

A Startling Discovery 12/01/13

Filamena slipped through the brush in the forest, comfortable enough with Vein that she didn't have to worry about concentrating on being solid. She was lost deep in thought. They'd been travelling from place to place for a few days now, but with no leads still. People actually were more comfortable with Vein than they'd ever been with her, which meant that they were getting a little more done, but they'd had no luck so far. It was getting a little dark, and she became more aware of their surroundings as the light died out. "Where to next?"

Vein stopped in his walk and took a moment to look around. "I think there's an old house a little ways up the hill over there." He flicked his tail towards a path to his left. "If nothing else, it's a place to rest for the night." He seemed a little dejected. Vein brought Filamena to this town, hoping she'd recognize something. But it had been the third town they'd been to in the past few days. The towns weren't very big, but he had hoped something would jar his friend's memory.

Filamena bit her lip and sighed. She had a feeling that Vein might be a little disappointed by the lack of progress they'd made in the last couple of days. It was true that she too had been hoping for some sort of progress when they'd first set out, but a few days later they were still in the same boat. She knew, though, that this wasn't going to be a random miracle that might jog her memory all of a sudden and end their journey early. She'd been searching for Gods knew how many years and had found nothing. She nodded solemnly, heading up the path he'd indicated. "I think there's a town further up this path anyway. We'll stop at the house to rest for the night and then we can head to the next town when we wake up tomorrow."

"That sounds like a plan. I'm sorry nothing has been working out so far. But maybe the next town has something that could point us in the right direction!" Vein smiled at her, his disappointment fading to be replaced with optimism. Yes, they could find something. Maybe not yet, but they would soon enough. "Let's go, then..." He turned and walked beside her up to the hill.

"Hopefully," she murmured, trotting up the path. Now that they had a plan for the next day, she was feeling significantly better about the travel. She'd been feeling as if by this point she should have been getting more from it and had been a little disheartened, but the next town was right up ahead and the only thing standing between her and some progress was a good night's sleep. She bounced along the path, stopping to examine an interesting flower and a small brown rabbit on the way to the house. She was feeling much better!

Vein followed behind her, keeping an eye on the surrounding area in case there were those who weren't so friendly. He watched Filamena bounce around, examining a rabbit. She was so precious, and it was endearing to know she didn't even realize it. He smiled and moved to walk beside her. "Having fun there?"

Filamena peered up suddenly, her paw midway to the soft-looking back of the brown rabbit. The rabbit, seeing an opening, ran full speed away from Filamena's looming paw, probably assuming she was going to eat him or something. "Quite." She went back to nosing through the bushes and plucked a particularly bright red flower of some sort; she wasn't sure what kind of flower it was, but it looked appealing. She willed herself to be solid and settled it behind her ear. A butterfly drew her attention off to the side, and she stalked it for some time up the path until it landed it the perfect spot, giving her the opportunity to pounce it and capture it in her cupped paws. She didn't move. "I caught it!" Her tail swayed back and forth in excitement. "It's so pretty, Vein!"

Vein laughed and trotted over to Filamena, bowing his head to look at the butterfly. "It looks like a monarch butterfly... Be careful, they're fragile little things..." He thought the same of the ghostly female, but he had a feeling she could be tough when she wanted to be. With a smile, he gently nosed the flower behind her ear, helping it sit better so it wouldn't fall. "It suits you. Red's very fetching on you."

She gingerly opened her paws, flashing a little of the bright orange wings character of a moarch butterfly. "Is it? I've never seen one like this before. I wish I could keep it." She doubted she would be able to keep it here. Firstly, she could never feed the little thing, and secondly, butterflies needed to fly. It wouldn't stay with her, and she didn't have the heart to capture it. She reluctantly opened her paws, and the butterfly flitted out high up into the sky, probably on the search for a food source. She would've blushed, but it was, she just bowed her head. Thankfully, Vein had nudged to flower further behind her ear. "Thank you. It's so pretty."

Vein smiled, taking a step away from her. "I'm not sure what flower that is... But it really does look wonderful on you." He turned and continued leading her towards the old house on the hill as the sun began to set. "Come on, before it gets too dark... There won't be a moon tonight."

Filamena examined the other like it in the bush. "It think they're lilies. I really can't remember, though." It had been a while since anyone had talked to her about flowers, and she had no opportunity to read books. You usually had to go in a building, and she usually had some trouble since people didn't like ghosts for some reason. She was a nice ghoul, but people didn't realize it. She peered up at the moon, taking a last look at the lovely surrounding, and followed him up the path. It was too bad; she rather liked this place.

"We can come back out here in the morning. Usually when the sun first comes up, there's a lot of little creatures like rabbits and birds around. More flowers, too." He glanced over his shoulder and smiled again as he lead her along. "Are you alright?"

Filamena perked up immediately. "There will be more bunnies?" She was particularly fond of them, although she hadn't been able to get in contact. She'd been so close to touching that last one too! "Just thinking."

Vein chuckled and fell back to walk beside her. "So... Would you mind if I gave you a nickname? It's a habit of mine to give my dear friends nicknames..." He seemed to be blushing lightly, smile still in place as he looked away from her shyly.

Filamena peered at him curiously. "I suppose not? I've never had a nickname before." She watched him, head tilted, ready for the first nickname that she could remember ever having. What a strange time she had been having since she had met Vein, and yet it was quite refreshing.

"I'm sorry if I seem odd... It's my friend Marcello's influence, I swear..." He laughed light-heartedly, looking up as stars started to poked through the night sky. "I think... White Rabbit would suit you..." He looked to her with another smile, a shy smile, as if he were embarrassed by his wish to give her a nickname.

"No, no, I don't mind. I'm just curious." She moved a little closer, looking up at the sky trying to figure out what he was looking at. Was there another butterfly up there? "White Rabbit? I've never seen one of those. Are they pretty?" She smiled softly, still curious. "What are nicknames again?"

"White rabbits are the most beautiful rabbits... And a nickname is a name that someone gives you that's different from your real name. It's a sign of friendship and affection." Vein hoped he hadn't been too forward with a nickname...

"I've never seen one before, so I'll have to take your word for it." She shifted the dirt with her paw, bashful. He was a wonderful friend. "I like it! So we're the March Hare and the White Rabbit?"

"Yes, we are. Do you like the nickname?" Vein's tail twitched in anticipation, hoping she didn't find it strange that he gave her the nickname.

"I do, I do! We have matching nicknames!" She bounced up and down, her ears waving in the breeze. The pretty red flower she'd picked fell out from behind her ear as she bounced, and she stopped to pick it up and replace it behind her ear. "I've never had a nickname before."

Vein's ears twitched excitedly. "I'm glad you like it!" He chuckled and nudged the door open, using his tail to prop it opened for Filamena. "I was nervous you wouldn't like it at all..."

She stepped inside; finally! They'd been out all day, and she was worn out. As a ghost, she could still sleep, and she would still become tired if she was awake for too long. She was feeling sluggish. "Never! You gave it to me; it's special!" She yawned and covered her mouth with her paw. "I don't see anyone . . . "

"This place is abandoned. I've been here a few times before. I think the family moved away several years ago..." Vein walked over to a closet and pulled out a few blankets and pillows, setting the in front of the fireplace.

"Oh, okay. What was it before?" Filamena solidified herself completely and pounced on one of the piles of blankets and pillows. "Is this like a . . . sleepover?" She'd heard the term thrown around sometimes when she spied on campers around their fires. She thought this was the proper term, although she could never be sure. She really hoped it was.

"I'm not sure who lived here before, I think it was just a family home." He started a fire and settled onto the pile with her. "Yes, you could call it a sleepover." Vein chuckled, laying his head on his paws. "I could tell you another story if you like..."

"Hm . . . " She wondered where her family was, if they were even alive anymore. She couldn't remember how long she'd been wandering; it could be centuries for all she knew. It was a depressing thought, and she quickly shoved it aside and focused on the fire, Vein. "Yay!" She'd never had one of these before either. Vein was exposing her to a lot of new experiences. "Oh, would you? I'd love to hear one!"

"I can tell you about this family that lived here... It's a little sad, if you're okay with that." He didn't want to tell her anything that would upset her. "I'm sorry, I'm only good at telling sad stories..." He blushed and turned his head away in embarrassment.

She nodded solemnly, burrowing into the blanket nest she'd made for herself. She threw a blanket over herself and settled in. "That's okay. They're very interesting."

Vein nodded and settled back against the pillows. "From what I know, the family that lived here left nearly sixty years ago. They were a happy family, a wife and husband and their children, two daughters and a son. They were well to do, and they were well liked in the town we'll be going to tomorrow. However, one night, someone broke in and attacked the family. The mother and father survived, as did their son and oldest daughter. But the youngest daughter was killed in a struggle."
"The family was devestated and couldn't stand to be in this home anymore. They soon left after that, burying their youngest near the flower patch out back. Her room upstairs is still untouched." He sighed softly, looking up at her. "She actually favors you a little. I can show you her room..."

Filamena sat there, attentively watching Vein as he told her the story of the family. He really was an excellent story teller . . . She would remember tomorrow the see the little flower patch. She fiddled with the little red flower behind her ear; maybe she would even leave the flower on her grave, if she could find it. It was a pity . . . "She favors me? What does that mean?" Was the little girl a ghost in the room too? She peeked around the dark room, lit only by the light of the dying fire, but couldn't see anyone. "I would love to."

"No, what I mean is..." Vein sighed and stood, tilting his head to ask her to follow him. "I mean you look like the daughter that died. She might have been about your age when she died, but you could still be a descendent..." He lead her upstairs to the bedroom at the end of the hall. It was very dusty. He pushed the door open, revealing a room that had not seen cleaning in several years.
"They cleaned it up after the attack, but no one has ever come back since then to clear out the dust." The room still had a bed, and several faded photos hung on the walls. There were two stuffed animals on the bed, and a few on the floor, covered in dust. A few spiders skittered up the wall and a small mouse scurried under the bed with an alarmed squeak.

"Oh, really?" It was too dark to really see the room, but she peered at it anyway, as if trying to uncover its secrets. Was it possible that this was her old home? She was filled with a sense of excitement, but also trepidition. Even if this was her old home, she wasn't sure she was ready to meet her possible family. She couldn't remember anything, and while she felt as if maybe she'd been here previously, she couldn't feel any straightforward feelings of nostalgia. Was this what it felt like to remember? Because she didn't feel like she knew anything. She followed Vein to the room, floating through the partially opened door, in too much of a hurry to bother with ethereal problems like doors. She floated close to the dusty picture frames, rubbing the film of dust that had settled over everything to examine the pictures. It really did look like her, but she couldn't remember the names of the other people. They were there, in the back of her mind, just on the tip of her tongue, but they wouldn't present themselves to her. She frowned. "I . . . They're familiar, but I just don't . . . I can't . . . " She bit her lip and sat down. She'd probablly lived here once, held those stuffed animals, talked to the people in the photo, but she still couldn't remember. She hung her head, staring at the prints of her paws in the dust. Why couldn't she remember?

"I've held a theory that victims of murder that become ghosts can't remember who they are... They usually retain only their name... And if I'm right, it's highly possible you really are the little girl that died here so many years ago... She was murdered, and you don't remember who you are... It would fit." Vein remained by the door, watching as Filamena wandered the room, looking at everything. "I've been here before, as I said... I thought you looked a bit familiar when I met you a few nights ago, but I wasn't entirely sure. To be honest, I think I may have even met you sixty years ago. I'm far older than I look, and I was still a kit back then..."
"I met a nice young woman, a few years older than me at the time. She favored you. Your voice reminds me of her, and how sweet you are... I never got her name, so I can't really be entirely positive it was you or not. But, I hope, for your sake, that I was right."

"That-that would make sense." She swept her tail absentmindedly across the dusty floor, collecting the dust on her tail unintentionally. "I just want to remember it all. What if I meet my real parents? I won't remember their names, or their faces. They'd be so upset." She looked up at the photograph again, desperately trying to remember it all. It wasn't happening, though. "How rude of me; I didn't even remember you," she murmured. She took another photograph down, dusted it off and examined the smiling face in the frame. Her eyes stung. What if she wanted to remember? Why would her memory not serve her if all she wanted was to remember? She'd been travelling, if Vein was right, for sixty years now trying to remember, and now that she had that final clue, it failed her?

"Relax... It'll come to you eventually. The only thing is, I think your parents are dead by now. Your brother and sister might still be alive, but they'll be much older than you by now. I don't know where they could be, but maybe we could find them one day?" Vein walked over and nuzzled Mena's shoulder lightly.

Filamena bit her lip. Her parents were dead anyway, but her siblings . . . There was some hope. "Do you think we could find where my parents are buried?" She padded closer to Vein, sticking her face against his fur. This was too much for her in one day. She wasn't where to go anymore, and her parents were dead. She had no leads as to where her siblings might be . . . Who knew whether or not they would even remember by now? "Can we try to find them too?"

Vein rested his head on her shoulder, wrapping his tail around her comfortingly. "Yes, we can look for them. The people in the next town may know where they might be. I'm sorry to put all of this on you so suddenly... I wasn't even sure if I was right or not, but it seems like I was..."

"Okay . . . " She took a little time there, dealing with the pent up emotions. She hadn't felt so strongly in all of her undead life. "No, it's not you. I just need to . . . get used to it all." She'd been looking for her old life for so long, and now that she had it in her grasp, there was nothing there for her to suddenly remember. She wanted her life back, but she couldn't, could she? "You are. Can we go to sleep now?"

He nodded and pressed himself against her as they returned downstairs to their pile. He pulled a blanket over her as she laid down and he snuggled beside her to keep her warm. "I'm glad we found a lead... I'm just sorry you can't remember... Maybe some rest will help, so go ahead to sleep." Vein smiled kindly, letting her use him as an extra pillow.

She carefully trod back downstairs next to Vein, her thoughts running rampant. What would she do if she met her remaining family? What if they had kits? What if they were afraid of her? Or worse, what if they didn't believe it was her? What if she was wrong. She couldn't sum even one of these complicated and depressing thoughts into words, though, and so she stayed silent on the way down. She snuggled underneath the heavy blankets and up against Vein for warmth, still quiet. "Me too. I suppose it will happen eventually . . . hopefully . . . " She snuggled against Vein as a pillow and fell asleep, still uneasy.

Vein sighed as she fell asleep, staying awake to watch her. Was it a good idea to show her? Maybe it had been too much too soon... He settled down, laying his head on his paws as he watched the fire crackle and pop. He hoped that they could possibly find her siblings, and that they would be willing to help them. But for now, they would start their new search bright and early. With a light yawn, he closed his eyes and drifted to sleep, cuddling close to Filamena.

A Startling Discovery 12/23/13

It had been a couple days, and at Filamena's request, Vein agreed to stay in the house one more evening so she could see if she remembered anything this time. He even took her out to the back where the flower patch had become overgrown, telling her it was where she had been buried. He spent this time watching her, gently offering advice to help her remember if he could. Another day passed and the pair finally headed down to the town.
"Are you excited, Rabbit?" He smiled at her now, his wings twitching hopefully as they walked towards the town.

The last few days had been increasingly frustrating. They'd spent a couple more days here, with Vein politely trying to guide her memory, if it was possible, but to no avail. The only thing she'd truly achieved in the last few days was putting the red flower, ironically enough, on her own grave. It had wilted a little bit, but it gave her some satisfaction in a grim way, although it was sort of like being at her own burial. They'd decided it was finally time to move on and she trotted forlornly down the path. At least they were heading somewhere this time. "Mhm. We might find something about my siblings!" Even to her own ears the cheer sounded false, but she put on a happy face for Vein and pretended to be a little brighter this morning.

Vein seemed to understand her dismay and smiled gently. "I know you're frustrated, Rabbit... But it'll come to you. I believe that completely..." He decided to play with her, gently headbutting her side to make her stumble. "It's alright to feel sad, you have a right to. But we're close to finding out more about you. You get to see siblings you've not seen in sixty years! I know not having your memory isn't pleasant, but you can look forward to being reunited with them..."

"I hope so." She no longer knew what to do. She'd expected everything to work out once she unveiled her past, but that was not the case. The end was only the beginning of a whole 'nother adventure; at least she had Vein to keep her company. She'd been travelling the world alone for sixty years, if their hunch was correct, and she didn't like it very much. She was suddenly jostled from her reverie when Vein headbutted her side, causing her to stumble. She looked over, attentive. "I know, but how am I supposed to reconnect with them if I can't even remember their names? I don't even know how many of them there are! It's so frustrating." She settled, sighing deeply.

He headbutted her again, lightly, and smiled. "There's only two, a brother and sister... They might have kids, but no one knows... I know they're older than us... Probably in their forties or fifties by now... Maybe they have grandkids too?" Vein tried to make her excited, to chear her up.

She sighed. "How do you know all of this again?" Despite her words, though, her slight smile betrayed her excitement. "I dunno, would they even like their creepy semi-transparent, sometimes ghostly Aunt who doesn'teven remember them? I probably wouldn't. I can't imagine they would either . . . If they even have children. Maybe they don't."

"I don't know anything for sure. I just know that your siblings have probably grown up and found mates after sixty years. And it's possible they have kits." He smiled reassuringly, drapping his tail over her in an act of comfort. "What I /am/ sure of is that they'll love you."

"I hope so. It would make them happy. . . They should be happy after everything that happened." She stared off into space, imagining siblings she'd never met playing with their equally vague little kits. It was sweet . . . If only she'd been alive to see it happen. "I don't know." She burrowed underneath his tail for warmth, snuggling against his side. "I'm worried they won't like me."

"You're their sister, ghost or not. I'm sure they missed you..." He paused for a moment, resting his head on hers. "You're a wonderful person, Rabbit... I can't imagine why anyone would ever dislike you."

"But I can't tell them anything to prove it. How will they know that I'm their sister truly? They won't. And I'm certain I'm nothing like what I used to be. I bet they just wanted to lay my memory to rest or however the living do it." She snuggled into the crook of his shoulder for comfort, closing her eyes and enjoying the moment. The uncertainty of her imminent future frightened her; she wasn't ready for this. People were a foreign anomally to her, something she only passed and never truly to talked to. All of these new experiences were terrifying; she wanted to take a small break before she had to dive back into the foray. It would be rude of her to ask, though, after all the time Vein had spent with her. "I don't know about that . . . " She'd met plenty, and there would be more to come, perhaps even siblings. She shuddered at the very idea; she wanted to be loved by her siblings, but she had the faint idea that it was very possible that they wouldn't.

Vein paused in their walk, wrapping his tail around her comfortingly. He took note that she seemed nervous, even a little stressed and he sighed softly. "I'm sorry... I didn't realize all this was taking a toll on you. It looks like I got a little ahead of myself with wanting to help you... Are you alright? Is there anything I can do for you?"

"No, no-we should keep going. We've gotten so far, it would be a shame if we stopped now." She managed a shaky smile, but knew even from the feeling that it wasn't very convincing. After years of searching for the answer, she was suddenly faced with meeting said family only learning only a day after that she'd been murdered as a child, her parents were dead, and her family had likely abandoned her memory alongside her grave to move on in their respective lives.

"If you want to take some time to sort everything out, that's fine... This decision is completely up to you. It's your family, and if you'd rather not meet them yet, or at all, then that's your choice..." He nuzzled her again, feeling a little guilty for springing all of this on her. He hadn't considered how nervous Mena might be. "I'm sorry..."

"No, no; I do want to meet them. It's just sort of overwhelming, is all. I just . . . could we take a day off." He ears drooped. She didn't mean to be a burden, but learning all of this in one day was all so much information. She was going on overload. She still wanted to meet her family, very much, but she wanted to take some time off to figure out what she wanted to do first.

Vein nodded and lightly headbutted Mena, pulling back with a bright smile. "Then we can take the day off. Do you want to go exploring or something? I'll do whatever you feel like doing." His tail swayed gently and he sat beside her to wait, his clock pendent bouncing off his chest lightly.

Filamena brightened significantly after that. A wide grin spread across her face and her tail swayed against the ground. "Yay! Can we find flowers? I really like that flowers around here." As if the make a point she found herself at the edge of the path sticking her nose into the bushes in search of the flowers.

Vein laughed softly and went to join her. "If memory serves, I think there's a small grove near here. There were lots of pretty flowers when I went there as a kit. Would you like to see if it's still there, Rabbit?"

Filamena poked her head back out of the bush she'd been rifling through and grinned. "I do!' She ran from the little bush up the path. "Where is it?"

Vein ran over to join her and he led her down the path into a nearby set of woods. "I think it was down this way. I hope it hasn't died out by now. It's been a long time since I was a kit."

Filamena bounced behind him, passing through trees and flowers to get to the mysterious hopefully still alive grove. "I really hope it is! I bet it's really pretty!"

"It was beautiful. The few times I came to that grove was back when my mother was still alive. It's a special place for me." He paused at a fork in the path, his ears twitching as he tried to remember which way to go. He sniffed the air, nodded and followed the path to the left. "I smell flowers this way."

"I can't wait to see it. We can figure it out together." She paused every once in awhile to sniff at a lone flower, although once got a whiff of a very unpleasant flower. It probably wasn't a flower, though, so she ignored it. "So it is alive! Let's go!" She ran up the left path ahead of him.

He smiled at her as she ran ahead of him, but he kept his pace, still walking while keeping her in sight. He couldn't help but find her increasingly charming. And it was even more endearing that she didn't even realize it. He came to stand beside her, pleased that the grove was still in tact, and in bloom.
"It looks the same..."

Filamena laughed, bouncing into the area and immediately immersing herself in the flora. She took the ones she loved the most and plucked them, then started arranging them in a bouquet in the middle. "It's beautiful! Thank you so much for bringing me here!" She picked up a pretty red flower and handed it to him. "Have a pretty flower!"

He chuckled and took the flower from her with a light nod. "Thank you, Rabbit." Vein was happy to see her running around and smiling. "I'm glad you're happy..."

Filamena beemed from ear to ear as he took the flower from her paw. "Wear it!" She had another flower just like it in her other paw, and she stuck that flower behind her ear with a grin. "Then we'll have matching flowers! Won't that be nice?" She then proceeded to pick more flowers, which we added to the ever growing pile in the middle of the yard. She was beginning to wonder where these were going to go, but kept picking flowers anyway. "Of course I'm happy! This place is so beautiful, and I'm spending time with you in one of your favorite places. It's wonderful."

Vein blushed faintly, putting the flower behind his ear. He grinned, his tail swaying. "Want me to teach you how to make flower crowns? My mother taught me how to do it when I was a kid..."

Filamena grinned, another heap of flowers in her mouth that were suddenly upon the pile. She stared at the pile and nodded. "That would be really useful, yeah . . . "

Vein moved to sit by the pile, picking up a few flowers. He started threading them together, making a little wreath out of them. "Like this... You tie the stems together..."

Filamena took a minute to watch what he was doing, then began threading the flowers from her pile one by one, tieing the stems together like he showed her until she had a long thread of flowers. "What do I do now? Do I just tie them together?"

Vein smiled and nodded. "Yeah. Just tie the ends together and sit it on your head. Voila~ Flower crown." He tied his own to show her and sat it on his head. "I'll even show you how to make little flower charms and things... I'm very good at crafts, you see..."

Filamena tied the ends together as instructed and tried to sit the flower crown on her head, but she'd made it too long and it feel past her nose, making it a necklace instead. "It didn't work." She pouted, but set about making more. She would make a flower-something army! "How do I make flower charms? You are very good at this."

Vein laughed and scooted to sit beside her. "You did well for a first try. I actually made several flower necklaces before I got it right..." He reached into the flower pile and picked up some smaller ones. "To make charms, you dry them out and either lamenate them or put them in little vials and wear them as necklaces. We'll take some with us and I'll show you."

Filamena managed to complete a second one, shorter than the first, and stuck it on her head. This was only slightly too long, and fell past the top of her head and around her ears and nose. She nudged it over her nose without breaking it and continued, wearing it as a slightly shorter necklace. "They're still pretty, though, even if they're not crowns. I kinda like them." She perked up. She'd intended to bring them with, but it was nice to have an excuse to bring them along. "How do you dry them?"

"It's easier to dry them out without stems. So, if we cut those off and leave them out in the sun for a day or two, they should dry out." Vein himself started working on another crown. "Then we can make charms out of it. If we make enough, we can sell them and open a shop!"

"We can do it while we're in the next village. We'll probably be there for a day or two." She slipped the completed one on her head. It was still a little big, but passable, so, of course, she was going to make another one. "Sure!" She smiled fondly. "I don't know how much business you're going to bring in with me around, though, Mr. Entrepreneur," she teased.

He elbowed her gently and smirked. "Oh please. With a pretty assistant, I'll get more business than I ever would alone!" His tail twitched happily as he grinned. "You're not scary. People just get scared of what they don't understand, but I'm sure they'll give you a chance."

She snorted, shaking her head. The loose flower crown fell as she did so, and she retrieved it and the few flowers that had been dislocated and thread them back together before returning to her other flower creation. "Most of them usually don't," she said sadly.

He shouldered her lightly, wrapping his tail around her. "Don't worry, Rabbit. If anyone tries to be mean to you, I'll beat them up. Don't look so sad. You're very sweet and anyone would be lucky to be your friend. I certainly am."

She laughed, nuzzling into his shoulder. "I think that might be bad for business." Her flower strand complete, she looped it together and threw it over his head. "Thank you. You're the first person to ever say that to me."

Vein smiled, humming for a moment. "Might be bad for business, but no one insults my friends or makes them feel bad." He laughed when she put another crown on him. "Thank you... You're much better at it now."

She chuckled. "You're sweet. Just promise not to hit them too hard, okay? Angry customers are one thing, but angry families are another." She smiled in joy. "Thanks. I learned from the best." The next one, however, wasn't as right; it fell past her ears. "I don't think I've gotten it down yet, though."

"Practice makes perfect. You're doing better than I was when I first learned." He smiled gently, bowing his head to lightly to rub his cheek against hers. "Mm... It's nice coming here with someone again..."

"I want to make an army of flower-things! And then we can use them to-to-" Actually she wasn't very sure what one could use an army of flower necklaces, charms and crowns for, but she was very determined to make them all and see what would happen. "Actually, I don't know. But I'm still gonna make them." She set the completed one down, since her neck was feeling a bit stressed from all of her flower creations. "It's beautiful; I'm glad you decided to bring me here."

"We can sell what you make. Or if you want, we can clean up your old house and move into it entirely. We can use all these flowers and things to decorate it." He smiled at the thought, settling down with a dear friend. "Would you like that?"

Her ears perked. Her old house, clean and filled with her flowers creations? It'd be so beautiful! Her head was already spinning with excitement at the thought. They could bring it from its gloomy past life to a new, more beautiful era. "I'd love to! Oh, it'll be so pretty! I should make longer ones!" She started adding more flowers to the already too long strand. She could just imagine the banister wrapped with these. "And we'll sell some too. We can do both!"

"We can buy new furniture and everything. It'll be nice..." Vein's tail twitched happily and he looked over to Mena. "We'll head back soon and start cleaning up so we can put the flowers up. Sound good?"

She laughed, finishing a line of flowers. "It'll be the most beautiful house ever! I can't wait to fix it up!" She hopped up to gather more flowers and paused. "I think we need a bag. We're gonna have lots of these." She smiled enthusiastically. "Yep! We're gonna make it the prettiest house around."

"I can use a bit of magic to make it float... We don't need bags, really." He smiled again. He hadn't felt this happy since he was young. "Let me know when you're ready to leave..."

Mena gasped loudly. Although it made sense that Vein could do magic, she'd never entertained the possibility. "You can do magic?! What kind of magic? Can you show me?" She bounced, offering a few flowers. "Can you do magic on these? Or if we go now will you do magic on all of them? Oh, will you, will you, will you?"

Vein blinked at her excitement and he just laughed. "Well, it's not quite magic as it is an enchantment... You've been seeing me do magic for as long as you've known me." He twitched his wings to draw her attention to them. "You see these? They don't really look like this."

Mena tilted her head to the side. "Really? I don't remember-oh." She examined the wings closely, with no regard for personal space whatsoever. Vein seemed to like her, right? He wouldn't mind. "I can't tell at all. What do they really look like? Why do you glamour them? Are they scary looking?" She ran her paw over one of them. "They feel real, too . . . "

The wing twitched under her touch reflexively and Vein allowed the glamour to fade as it revealed a leathery demon wing below the feathers. "It's not that they're scary looking... I'm just ashamed of them."

She smiled faintly. "They're pretty." She paused. Was she supposed to say that? Obviously he didn't have a problem with how they looked, he had a problem with the meaning behind them. "Is it because of you're dad? You're nothing like him. I mean, I don't think you'd ever do what he did. You're really sweet."

Vein blushed and ducked his head shyly. Well, that meant a lot less explaining since she clearly understood why he did it. But hearing her say he was nothing like his father... It made him happy. "You're right... I'm not like him. Because I'd never take the soul of the one I love." He stopped himself before he could say anything out of line.

She smiled fondly; he was happy. Good. It hurt to see Vein so upset, ashamed of his appearance because he resembled his dad in some way. "Y'know . . . you say that almost as if you already love someone." She bounced happily, her tail cutting through the brush absentmindedly. "Do ya like someone? Do ya? Do ya? Tell me! I know you do."

Vein scratched his cheek, his tail now twitching nervously. "I do already love someone... Do you... Do you really want to know who it is...?" He just hoped things wouldn't get weird.

Mena was completely oblivious. She cocked her head to the side, watching him carefully. He seemed sort of nervous. Why? Did he think she was going to be mad. "Of course! She must be awesome if you love her. Just tell me!"

The male twitched his tail back and forth, and his ears laid back anxiously. "W-well... Um... it's actually... I'm in love with you, Rabbit..." He looked away quickly, his face turning light pink.

Mena blinked, taken aback. Then she laughed, an nervous, high-pitched, cautious laugh. There was no way that was true, right? "You're funny, Vein. But seriously, who is she?" She was too stunned to even entertain the possibility. He had to be joking; that was it. But even though she brushed it off, there was a small part of her that desperately hoped it was true. After years of rejection, however, she'd had the rug pulled out from under her so many times that she didn't have faith in it. That look on his face, though. She nervously pawed the ground while she waited.

Vein's tail twitched anxiously, and he looked at the ground for a moment. He was many things, but a liar was not one of them. Not to anyone he cared about. "I wasn't... Trying to be funny, Mena... I'm serious. I love you..." He looked up at her nervously, his teal eyes darting to the side. "But I understand if you don't feel the same, and I don't mind... God, I must sound like such a creep..."

Mena took a tiny step back. He'd said it again. Her nails had dug a little pit in the ground, and she had to try hard not to pace. She felt bad for making him feel so-what was the word? She couldn't think clearly. "You really do?" Her voice cracked on the last word, biting her lip. The second she heard him say those words she'd thrown herself at him. The bridge of her nose felt funny, and it took her a second to realize that she was crying. How long had it been since she'd last cried? She couldn't remember if she ever had during this life time. She buried her nose in his shoulder a muttered the same words over and over again, "I love you." She wasn't sure if he heard her, but right now, she didn't care. All she cared about was the one solid fact; that someone actually loved her. That for once someone truly cared.

Vein staggered as she embraced him, startled for a moment. He quickly shook his head and embraced her back, leaning down to kiss her forehead. She felt the same way he did, they'll be living together... and maybe one day they could have a family. Although, he wasn't sure if that would work, with Filamena being a ghost. Not that he minded that much, as long as he had Mena, he was fine.

"What indeed... For now, let's get back to your old house and rest... We'll start cleaning bright and early and get as much done as we can. How does that sound, Rabbit?" He smiled at her, holding her close as his tail wrapped around her.

"Yeah, let's go." She couldn't keep the energetic smile off her face, stretching from ear to ear. She bounced along the path that was beginning to be so familiar to her, just like Vein. She was home. While she cleaning sounded like a detestable chore, the very word stirred some negative emotion deep within her, she couldn't help but look forward to it. They'd be cleaning her home. Their home. "I can't wait to clean!"

Vein smiled to her. "Neither can I... We'll have a nice, clean home, Rabbit... Just the two of us..." He tried not to say anything about wanting a larger family, but he still thought about it. He would be happy enough with just Mena, but he really wanted a family. Vein headbutted Mena gently. "I'm so happy..."

She smiled fondly. "With lots of flowers after we clean it up. Pretty, pretty flowers." She was about to say something about it not being the two of them for long, and then stopped, thought about it, blushed furiously and looked away. She didn't even know if that was possible yet. While contemplating how on earth ghost people had babies, Vein headbutted her. She laughed, her jolly mood returning and her worries forgotten. "Me too. It's going to be perfect."

"All the flowers... We'll clean up the garden, and grow some flowers inside, too..." Vein smiled again, feeling bold enough to kiss her. "Mena... Would you like to have kids one day...?" He blushed, feeling embarrassed to even ask, but he couldn't stop himself.

"They'll be everywhere, and all different kinds and colors! Red ones and purple ones and blue ones and yellow ones . . . " She went into a tirade on her favorite kinds of flowers, examining the path now for pretty ones. Mena's bright red blush returned in full force as he kissed her, stopping her in her tracks. She bowed her head shyly, her paws returning to the nervous churning of the dirt beneath. "I-I hope so. I dunno if we can . . . But I guess we can try, um . . . " The blush became even brighter at that moment. She looked away, biting her lip. Well that was embarrassing.

Vein couldn't help it and he kissed her again with a faint chuckle. "Rabbit, we can try, of course... I'd love to have a family with you..." He shifted, resting his head on her shoulder for a moment as they stood there.

Her blush faded just a little bit, a fainy smile on her face. "Yeah." She supposed even if they couldn't start a family of their own, she'd be just as happy adopting, she supposed, and she hoped Vein would feel the same. She'd still love all of their children, whether they were adopted or not. Her smile brightened at the thought. She couldn't wait. She nuzzled up against him as he rested his head on her shoulder. At last she finally had something worth existing for.

How are babies made?

Quote:
- in response to a comment about them and babies -

Vein: Wait, what.
Mena: But what are babies?
Vein: Babies are smaller forms of kids...
Mena: But where do babies come from?
Vein: From... Well, us?
Mena: But how?
Vein: Umm... I don't know? My mother never got the chance to tell me, and I haven't seen my father since I was six...
Mena: We need to find out, stat! I want to know!
Vein: U-uh... I can call me friend Marcello might know...
Mena: Can you? I really wanna know!
Vein: Yeah... I'll call him and then tell you what he said...
Mena: Cool. - sits patiently while waiting -
Vein: -comes back, and explains what Marcello told him- Apparently, you'll have the babies one day?
Mena: I will? But how do they end up there?
Vein: Uh... He said we do something and then they end up in your belly?
Mena: What do we do?
Vein: We.... have sex. -hides face-
Mena: What is . . . sex?
Vein: Uhm... It's when two people really like each other and they... -explains to the best of his ability-
Mena: - face bright red and stuttering - W-wait . . . We-we do . . . that? - blushed harder -
Vein: -looks away- Umm... Yeah, we do...
Mena: - O-oh . . . Um, I guess that's . . . okay? - blushes -
