Groaning, the senshi of orchids clutched the steely hand around her throat and struggled to bring her legs up to kick at the Captain that held her up off the ground, pinned against a brick wall.
Up above, the stars shone neutrally down on the tableu as the moon painted the night silver. Three piles of dust littered the ground, evidence of the youma who had fallen in the struggle between Eternal Sailor Ida and her Negaverse attacker. As the cold brick bit into her back, Ida had a hard time remembering when things had gone this badly before... Maybe that time when Painite had found her in the construction zone, or when Bischofite had tried to rip out her starseed... This was all the worse for it being a lower ranked officer that threatened her, one she didn't even know the name of.
He had just appeared out of the darkness, cocky and sure of himself as three gorilla-like youma lumbered out after him, their little pig eyes blazing with hunger and hatred... she should have known better, shouldn't have overestimated herself just because he was lower ranked, backed only by youma. She never should have taken him on alone... she should have known better and called in her team, or found a way to escape. Ida always fought better with her team and it was only when she was alone like this that bad things happened...
The gloves hand tightened and she gasped for air as she struggled, fingers digging into his wrist. She had taken out his youma with three of her attacks, but it had been hard going... they were horribly strong, just like the apes they mimicked, and had hit her hard in return, mobbing her at once rather than singly. Her ribs ached as though someone had taken a sledge hammer to them and her wrist blazed like fire, leaving her grasp limp and ineffectual. With three attacks gone, she was so very, very tired... it had been her undoing, because the captain who had sat out most of the battle was still fresh and very much ready to take her on.
He laughed with a flash of teeth as he hoisted her a little higher and played contemptuously with the flower shaped bow on her chest.
"Can you imagine the reward I'll get for bringing them your starseed? For taking down an Eternal all by myself? It will be amazing..." He laughed in her face as he punched his fist forward and into her chest, drawing out a sharp scream of pain and terror from his captive. Not again... not again... was all Ida could think of. Another hand touching her starseed... corruption entering her body in the form of this Captain. It wasn't supposed to be like this!
The senshi thrashed as she screamed again, angry, scared and fast loosing hope. She'd had her phone before, had been able to call Chaonis... it was out of her reach this time and no one knew she was out patroling alone. Sweet gods above... no one would know she was even missing until her father found her bedroom empty, and it would take hard searching to find her body here, where quiet little Orah would probably never have gone on her own. Her mortality was laughing in her face and once more, she was scared of it, even after everything she had gone through... and the regrets... there were so many.

Shang was on the rooftops tonight, finished with a short information session and off to patrol. He was more familiar now with the signatures that roamed the night though often he didn't come across too many and he was a little wary of chaos signature. He'd been attacked enough times now without reason to be suitably wary.
Feeling an order and chaos signature close to him he frowned wondering if that meant someone needed help. He stood from a moment wondering if he should head toward them before jumping to the next roof top and headed in the direction of the auras. Only moments after he'd started toward them there was a scream which caused Shang to break out in a full sprint, hopping roof top to roof top at top speed.
Coming to the last rooftop he spotted them as he jumped to the ground, "IDA," he called out landing behind the negaverser with his hand in Ida's chest.
His eyes widened and for a moment he was just shocked not knowing fully what to do. "Get ... GET OFF HER NOW!" He summoned his weapon, feeling his magic and pushing it into his weapon as he changed and attempted to knock the captain away from Ida.

Captain Loralite had not been expecting company. In fact, he had been banking on no one coming to the aid of this senshi girl. Having someone drop in on him was both startling and infuriating. As he was hit hard, he jerked his hand out and had the satisfaction of seeing a starseed glowing purple in his palm as the body in his hand slumped. Having gotten his prize, he let himself be knocked out of the way, spinning as he moved in slow motion and clutched the starseed close. Ida had only a moment of pain and then it abruptly stopped and she was staring at what she could only assume was her starseed in the hand of her attacker. It was... so lovely... delicate little thing, as though made of glass, glowing a lovely shade of purple... and then her world went dark as she slumped and slid down the wall, the hands removed by the arrival of a friend. She collapsed like a marionette cut loose from its strings, her hair falling forward to cover a face gone pale and strangely peaceful.Loralite laughed as he jumped back, unable to resist taunting the knight that had broken up his fun. "You're too late! I got the real prize from that pretty little thing." He gloated as he lifted her starseed and showed it off. "I'll be rewarded for bringing this baby in... that girl has been making a lot of trouble for us, and defeating an eternal all by myself? Almost a guaranteed promotion!" A sweep of his hand called up his weapon and a twisted sword appeared in his hand, the blade curving away from a one-handed hilt. He brandished it at the knight in warning, his blue eyes narrowed and feral. "I suggest you take off and mind your own business, Knight, or you'll suffer the same fate... two starseeds means double the reward for me."

Shang had wanted to get the negaverser away from Ida, but he's insides froze over when away with the nega came Ida's starseeds. His heart was racing and his eyes were a wide as the full moon. It was purple and it sparkled, Painite had threatened to remove him several time, but had yet to make good on the threat.
"That is not a toy and it does not belong to you," he hissed, fear for Ida's life driving his ire. "You will put her starseed back right now because its not my fate you have to worry about."
He was worried about about attacking the captain, but the starseed in his hand kept him routed to the spot momentarily. He was terrified something would happen to it and he wouldn't be able to save Ida.
He spared a brief look for his friends lying slumped on the ground before looking away. He had to help her and he wasn't even sure how much time he had to do it.
He took a deep breath and jumped forward dropping down and swinging out a lanky leg in order to knock the negaverser on his back. He was poised to catch the starseed should it go flying, but most of his attention remained with the nega.

The captain clutched the precious seed close to his chest as the squire came at him, sweeping his feet out from under him. Loralite twisted and landed on his knees before he jumped back onto his feet. His sword lashed out at Shang in a viscous slash, the wicked edge cutting the air with a hiss. "Not a toy? Ha! Its mine now, Squire." The blonde laughed as he thrust his sword again, keeping the other at bay with its dancing edge. "I'll put it back... but not just yet. I want to see how long that girl lasts before her body starts to die. Want to place a bet on how long she lasts? A day? Two? When she starts to fade, I'll stick her seed back into her until she's recovered, and then rip it out again. Won't that be interesting?" This captain had quite a mouth on him, and even as he struggled to fight off the Squire, he couldn't help taunting him. "What if I took her body with me and put her in the rift? I could keep her starseed with me and keep it putting it back whenever she faded, before ripping it out all over again. I wonder how long she'd last before her mind cracked under the strain. Its such an interesting idea! I bet if I could get her to reveal the identities of everyone she knows just for a promise to let her die next time." He laugh cruelly, giving a wild slash with his sword.

Shang frowned when he attack didn't go over exactly as he would have like and he was force back when the captain slashed a blade at him. His frown only deepened as the captain became a motor mouth of terrible idea, none he wished to befall even his worst enemy, which at the moment he had to say was the captain himself.
"That is not interesting at all! That's sick! She's a human being. Her life is not your to toy with. I most certainly won't allow you to any such thing to her." Shangri-la was shouting something very uncommon for him. He was very slow to anger, but at the moment his anger was boiling.
The captains next words made his heart thunder. Ida was his friend and she needed him right now, to be strong and to make sure this b*****d didn't get away with her or her starseed. He spun his weapon around brandishing it like a sword. "Give it back, or this will not end well for you. If I have to take it, you will regret it."
Shang pushed the staff forward in a stabbing motion wondering if his magic would still work if he wielded it as he currently was. For some reason he doubted it, very highly. As he engaged the other, his thoughts were slightly split.
Ida, hang in there. You'll be okay...

Loralite was manically pleased by how worked up this knight was getting. The anger beat off him in waves and he LOVED it. They were so easy... so simple. All you had to do was wave some threats around and they lost all control. "I told you, knight boy, they're mine now! Even if she got it back, she would always remember that I was the one that took it from her... my fingerprints are all over this starseed now. It'll always belong to me." He laughed, batting away the other's stick with his wicked sword. He felt it hit his arm, but thought nothing of it. Stupid knights... their weapons were always useless bits of crap. His sword, THIS was a proper weapon. Loralite slashed at Shang again, trying to drive him back. Moving the sword was harder now, his swings unskilled, but he thought little of it. Maybe he was just a little tired from playing around... but that probably meant it was time to get out of here. He had enough energy left for the teleportation to the rift and then his victory would be complete. He hadn't really planned on following through with what he'd threatened, but maybe he should... his superiors might like what he found out through it. He was already thinking of her as his own little pet white moon senshi... no one else had anything like that. Giving another slash, he turned and darted back to where the senshi lay and grabbed her by a fistful of hood and hair, yanking her up. "Time to say good by, sweet heart." He laughed down at her, giving her a little shake. "Say good by to your friend." What a cherry on top of his victory... this had been almost too easy. Nothing could stop him!

Shang never used the training which his sister gave him, not really, not in the manner in which the training was meant to be used even when his life was in danger, when Painite was threatening to end hhis life he could barely be forced to act.
Now, however, he fought to drive the captain back and was suceeding? He could hardly tell, but it matter not because things went downhill in just a second and the captain was back with Ida and he had a fistful of her hair. He didn't know what went threw him, but he did know in the next sec from the shout of, "NO!" to Shang falling beside Ida, the captain died.
Shang spared him the briefest glance trying not to think about his weapon sticking wings up out of the captain chest, as he scooped up Ida's starseed.
"Please Ida, don't die," he murmured as he pulled her into his arms and gently brought the fragile starseed to her chest. "Come on, you can't leave just yet. Your needed, you have to wake up and go home. Come on Ida. Come on ... please."
His soft murmurs continued as the starseed returned to it's rightful place and Shang waited head bowed, tears running down his cheeks. He wondered how his sister made it through something like this, he didn't know what he would do if his friend died.Bluefire Dragonz I change it if you want it to last longer before the captain death, but this seemed the perfect spot!

The light returned slowly along with a blurry sort of image. Sensation returned shortly after and she found herself half wishing it hadn't. She hadn't hurt before, and now pain fired all over her body and Ida groaned as she squeezed her eyes shut again, shifting fitfully. She could hear a voice begging her to come back and finally she opened her eyes again, attempting to lift a hand to the ache in her chest before the sharp pain in her wrist reminded her it was broken.
"Shang?" She said, her voice a rasp. With the pain and realization of who held her came back memories of what had happened and why she was waking up. The color that had returned to her face with the return of her starseed drained away again as she cast about her. Where was Loralite?
It didn't take long for her to find him, crumpled nearby with what looked like Shangri-la's weapon sticking out of his chest. From what she saw, Shang had saved her... but it was so much to take in at once. The captain was... dead?
Ida looked up at him with pleading eyes, feeling herself start to tear up as she struggled to take in everything.
"Shang... what happened?" She managed at last, her throat sore right along with the rest of her. Her good hand reached to curl into his coat, clutching at him as something solid to hold onto. Ida wasn't sure she was ready to face the implications of what she could see around her, but she needed to know.

When Ida spoke his name, he snapped to attention looking down at her and nodding not really sure to speak, feeling somewhat like he was in a dream at the moment. He froze when Ida looked over the dead captain, who when Shang looked again's clothing faded away and left the civlian the other was, Shang's weapon still sticking out of the body. It made him sick, he wanted to throw up. This sort of injury would usually not cause such strong emotions to well up, but he'd been the cause of the other's death. He did it and that changed things.
He looked to Ida again who looked at him with pleading eyes, that made the guilt sit heavier in his chest, but also gave him some relief. Ida was alive and would go home to her family tonight. Would live to fight another day and that was good and important, and right. That was right.
Shang eyes went slightly downcast at the question, "Tell me how you are first. Let me make sure you are okay. Let me take care of you first and I will tell you." He needed a moment, but he would tell her. She deserved to know, but it would help to know she was okay, or as okay as she could be.

He seemed upset, and no wonder why. He wouldn't be half the man she thought he might be if the dead man behind them hadn't shaken him even a little. She heavily suspected that she knew what had happened to the captain because she was starting to remember Loralite's hand going into her chest, and then the darkness descending when it came back out. Had he been holding her star seed? She wasn't sure, because at that point things had gone pretty hazy.
If Shang had killed him to save her, then it was her fault the captain had died... her fault that she had gone into this thinking she was strong enough to fight him off. Her fault she hadn't called Tsui and Athene to back her up... oh gods, what was she going to tell them? They'd be so angry with her for getting herself in this situation and that hurt almost more than her injuries.
Trying to hold back her tears, she shifted as Shang's concerned voice came back, wanting to know how badly hurt she was. It took a moment to take stock of it all and she was so tired...
"My ribs hurts, and my throat. My wrist hurts the most though... I can't move it." She said as she winced, letting her arm rest across her stomach. Taking inventory reminded her that at the moment she wasn't laying on the ground, but rather being held.
This wasn't the first time a comrade had held her like this, injured and bleeding from a near fatal attack... but part of her still worried at it, at having someone show so much care for her. They were just friends, that's all... it would have been the same no matter who he had saved. It felt good though... good to be cared for when she was hurt, when she felt so weak and helpless that all she wanted to do was cry. She wasn't a strong woman and sometimes... it was just nice to have someone take care of her.
Feeling guilty for being so weak, she let her head rest against his arm and she sighed, her eyes closed. "I'm okay otherwise, I think. The slash Painite gave me across the ribs was worse, back when I was just a senshi. At least I'm not bleeding out... and I think having my star seed pulled out is only fatal if it stays out." Ida was trying to be reassuring, but she suspected maybe it wasn't working so well. It didn't sounds so great, after she said it.

Shang nodded when she mentioned her ribs and her throat, but still he held her and used his free hand to press lightly on her ribs. He was sure they weren't broken, or she would be in a lot more pain, but he checked just in a case. He suspected lightly bruising, not to serious that would require more than rest and ice. Her wrist, however, was something else and entirely. It was swollen and as her took her hand he frowned as he felt the bone and moved it.
"I'm sorry if it hurts, it looks like its broken. I can try to align the bones and wrap it, but you'll need to go to the doctors," he said softly sighing lightly looking down at Ida before giving a week laugh.
"Painite, she has a knack for trying to stab people. I've been fortunate thus far ...," he paused looking over to body feeling he should grab his weapon and they should move.
"You scared he half to death Ida. I heard you scream and of course I didn't know it was you, but went I jump off the roof top and saw him with his hand in your chest. I don't even know. He pulled your starseed out Ida, he said he'd torture you and and ... I dont even fully know ... I blanked out. He grabbed your hair and Im pretty sure i threw my weapon, next moment he was dead."
His breathing was slightly labored, "what were you doing? You could have died Ida! You could have died ..."

She whimpered when he manipulated her wrist, the pain of it forcing the sound out. The hospital sounded like a rather good idea at the moment, though she dreaded needing to explain to her father what had happened to put her there. Could her injuries be explained away by a fall, maybe? It was hard to think past the present moment...
It was especially hard when Shang started in, pulling back up the recent events and then seemingly blaming her for what had happened.
"I'm sorry!" She said as she squeezed her eyes shut again. Unable to force herself to release his coat to cover her eyes, she settled for burying her face in his chest instead, her voice muffled as she apologized. "I'm sorry! I thought... I thought I could handle it... I didn't mean for this to happen! I'm so sorry... I'm sorry I scared you, I'm sorry I made you k-kill him... I'm completely useless, you should have left me there..."
Ida sobbed as she took completely responsibility for what had happened, upset at how she had hurt Shang and upset that she had been the cause of the very thing she had sworn she would never do. They were the good guys... killing the negaverse only brought them down to their level. It hurt the goodness inside of them and it was her fault Shang had stained himself with it. What was she doing, anyway? Playing at being a hero, at protecting people... she couldn't even protect herself as this night proved. Would she ever stop needing people to save her?

Shang hadn't meant to make Ida cry, he was sure that was the last thing she needed. He frowned, feeling bad, but when she buried her face in his chest he hugged her. "It's okay Ida. I'm sorry. I didn't mean it like that. I'm not the best with words. I'm sorry. It's not your fault, we all make mistakes. I'm sure we both will make more in all this, but know this, I would do it again 100 times, if it means you will live. Please don't cry."
He pulled her away from him, "You are not useless. Your strong, and smart. You best me in sparring and I can count on you in a battle I know. Now come on we need to get away from here, we are lucky we haven't draw any attention."
He looked to the body heaving a sigh, he had to retrieve his weapon. "Can you walk or do you need help?"

She felt so small and broken... her body protesting in pain when he hugged her, yet part of her needing it to soothe the ache in her heart. This night was a disaster and it was only luck and Shang's help that had kept it from being worse.
He tried to reassure her, but it was hard to believe him. Everything was her fault, it always was... that's why she was so useless. People were kind to try and say she wasn't, but she always secretly knew. All she could do was try harder and if she ever started to forget, things like this happened to remind her. Ida ached in body and soul as Shang pulled her back, her eyes on his buttons rather than his face as she meekly nodded and tried not to hiccup.
"I used up all of my attacks so I'm exhausted, but I can manage I think. I don't... I don't know where the nearest hospital is." The eternal put a hand to the ground as she maneuvered around his knees to try and push herself to her feet, feeling her body ache all over at the motion. Her wrist was on fire as she kept it pressed against her stomach and she trembled as she got her feet under her. She hadn't even gotten a chance to show him her new wings and already she felt like she didn't deserve them...
Keeping her back to the body, not wanting yet another reminder of her failure, she looked about in an effort to place where they were, struggling to remember how she had gotten here in the first place. With so much happening, earlier this evening was a bit of a blurr.
