Alarion wasn't sure where she'd wound up or how - okay that was a lie, she knew how she'd gotten here - but there was a nice little creek that provided cool water to drink. And that's exactly what she was doing. Or had been doing. Until something had caught her eye and the young mare could only stare wistfully. Because she wished she could fly like that!
Where Alarion was acting like a blind fool, Shalira was sitting beside her companion, using a paw to delicately wash her face. The foxes ears swiveled at the sound of wings too large to be a birds. Staring up, she spotted the winged soquili and narrowed her eyes, snorting.
"Don't you say anything!" Alarion stamped a hoof like a child, looking down at her familiar. Who just snickered. "Come on! Let's see where he lands! I want to ask how he does thaaaat!" This was met with a look from the fox that said how brilliant this idea clearly was. But she darted off anyways, Alarion right on her tail. Mare and fox trotting to catch up with the flying stallion.

Higher and higher he flew, it was relaxing to feel the wind beneath his wings. He closed his eyes, trusting in the fact that he would not hit anyone while up on the sky. He did loops in the air and let out a joyous yell; he had been too long on the ground looking at minute details hidden in plain sight. He loved solving mysteries, but sometimes he needed a break, he needed to soar.
His eyes opened wide and he glided down to the earth. His landing was graceful due to practice, slowly he made his way to the trickling stream to get a drink. While he landed he had noticed a pale mare standing among the trees; she had wings as well, although they appeared to be more hippogryph in style instead of the commonly seen wind or angeni style. Curiosity blossomed in the detective, he had never met a hippogryph before. Wystan turned in the direction of the mare, waiting for her to come through the trees.

He really was an excellent flier! And Alarion felt her heart ache with the desire to be that good. She was lucky to make it safely from point A to point B without crashing on her rump. And this was only if she got high enough to glide. Actually flying had eluded her. Though she got an A for effort in trying, at least! But watching birds and other soquili way up high only got one so far.
When the stallion finally touched down and made his way to the stream, Alarion put on the brakes so she didn't go crashing through the brush rudely. Though how he could not know she was there was a different story all together! She'd been too excited to take on an air of caution. Something Shalira had done as the fox was no where to be seen currently. Though the winged mare knew her familiar was close by, watching from some safe location.
In fact, it was the fox who approached the stallion first, head tilted and ears forward as she sniffed at him. Before sitting down and her bushy tail making a sweeping gesture that was supposed to mean 'come forward' to her companions.
Stepping forward with a little more care, Alarion gave the stallion a sheepish look. "I'm sorry if we are intruding! We just... saw you flying and it was so amazing!"

Wystan stared down at the fox, waiting patiently for the other soquili lurking in the woods. The fox was as black as night with a few shades of grey on the belly and tail. The rustling of leaves made the stallion look away from the fox and toward the forest line. A pale mare who had a pale grey coloration that matched forming storm clouds. She had feathers upon her head that made him think of Anya and the Harpies of the flock. She even had claws in the front, but not in the back. He had known that she was a hippogryph, but he did not know how much seeing one would remind him of his time in the Flock. One thing that was different from the mares in the flock, was that the gryph in front of him had thick wings upon her back. He smiled at the mare when she spoke up, her words were full of excitement, “You are not intruding. It is always fun to meet new people. Thank you. There is nothing like flying, and feeling the clouds beneath your wings and seeing the world as the bird sees it.” He gazed up at the sky, birds flew overhead, chirping greetings to each other. “It is the best feeling, I have been told that it is similar to running at full gallop across a flat plane, which is something that I have not experienced, my wings tend to slow me down.” He turned back to the mare and smiled, “Oh sorry, I have forgotten my manners, I am Wystan, a detective.” The angeni bowed to the mare.

Her wings ruffled a little as she gave the duel-winged stallion a smile. There was a faint flush that began to rise to her cheeks, the feathers atop her head fluttering up. "I... am glad. I just couldn't help myself." She admitted, ducking her head a bit shyly. Her gaze widened a bit and she got a little bolder as he spoke of flying and the feel of clouds. Like a filly hearing the most amazing story for the first time, she stepped closer, ears perking up. "I'd love to be able to do that!" To fly high enough to see like the birds did. She was lucky enough to get high enough to see as much as a squirrel did.
Shalira snorted, sitting down beside Alarion's legs, the beads about her foot clinging softly. "I'd be glad for ye to do that too." She snickered.
Alarion shot Shalira a look, before turning back towards the stallion. Oh right! Manners. "It is a pleasure to meet you, Wystan! My name is Alarion. And this fox here, is Shalira." She gently nudged her familiar with a hoof. Who dipped her head in greeting. "A detective sounds exciting! I'm afraid I am nothing but a wanderer, traveling around the Kawani land. On foot mostly, unfortunately." She added, giving her wings a forlorn look.

He watched the mare as he described his ability to fly in the sky, he had a feeling that she did not use her wings on a usual basis. They had the proper amount muscle so they would be able to hold her in flight. Wystan bowed his head to the mare, “The pleasure is mine Alarion and Shalira,” he tilted his head to the vixen. “A wonderer is just as exciting as a detective, on foot or in the skies. I used to walk everywhere, because I worried that from the sky I would not see the intricate detail that the earth held beneath my hooves.” The stallion looked to the sky and then to the flightless hippogryph in front of him, “I know this sounds forward of me, and I may presume too much, but would you like a lesson in flight? I have taught flight to a wind before and she seems to be taking to the skill quite well.” He had taught the wind years ago and knew the technique he used, but since there did not appear to be any cliffs near here, he would have to think of a different way of teaching flight to the glacier colored mare if she agreed.

It was sort of reassuring to the young mare to hear that even this skilled flier had, for a time, chosen to walk instead of fly. Maybe she wasn't as strange as she considered herself? Though at least he'd had the option. She was not quite as fortunate. Still... she felt a little lighter inside knowing this. "I do enjoy things that only my hooves can allow me to do. Like running and jumping." And generally feeling the earth beneath her hooves. But to fly?! Alarion yearned for that feeling. And then she wasn't sure she had heard him correctly or if maybe her mind was just trying to fool her. The pale mare blinked owlishly at him, at a loss for words. She glanced from him to her own wings, extending one a bit to look at the appendage that had caused her so much grief thus far. "I... would you really?" She asked in a hushed voice, some of the growing excitement leaking out even as she tried to hide it. "I would be so honored and grateful if it is no bother to you!"
