(sorry guys I'll have the little images updated soon - by tomorrow night at the latest)

The sweet little gingerbread cottage had sprung up almost instantly the first day of December. As if it had been built over night in Destiny's Central park. Over-sized toys and Christmas candies decorated around the house along side instant snow - as not enough lay around the cottage. Behind the quaint little scene set the lake and the path.

It seems Santa hasn't arrived just yet, but a sign welcomes all those interested in joining and telling Santa their wishlist.

Quote:
Come Visit Santa!
Get Your Picture taken for $5 Dollars!
Everyone under the age of 14 gets a free stuffed animal!
All Visitors receive a Candy cane just for visiting!

Some of the over sized toys were animated, and red velveteen ropes held up by golden posts roped off where everyone was allowed to walk. Just to make sure no one messed with the animated toys or accidentally broke anything.

Now -- if only Santa Clause would arrive.

~*~*~*~

OOC:
Okay some quick rules here guys - feel free to rp among yourselves but please bold who you're talking too + quote. When Santa shows up (played by Nuxaz) and is settled by his helper elf (played by Nilo), please make sure to rp yourselves approaching one at a time so we don't overwhelm Santa with excited visitors!

Istas had seen the little Santa house and the small line of people that'd already assembled in front of it. The Preteen figured her parents would like a picture of her with Santa. She happened to be wearing a powder blue fluffy jacket with snowflakes on it and a nice white hand knitted scarf. She had on jeans today too though and white fluffy knee boots.

Her backpack choice of the day was a Polar bear, and when she noticed the sign a picture for 5 dollars she fished into the pack to find her my little pony wallet. She was positive she had five dollars to spend on a picture. . .

Jonquil Fisher did not believe in Santa, and, honestly, made most of her own stuffed toys at this point, if she were interested, though she had other good reasons to be at the mall, and had taken the bus there earlier. Shopping had been decent, and she was carrying bags of Christmas gifts... and some things for herself as well, including a copy of "Children of the Corn" she'd found in a bargain bin. Well... allegedly that was for her Brother since she wasn't supposed to be watching it, but it was part of their Sibling Agreement. And she'd gotten him something he wanted anyway.

The line for the Mall Santa, (in her experience, Mall Santa's were vaguely, indescribably creepy, sweaty, and smelled funny... and had laps that were uncomfortably warmed by the progression of children before you.) was filled with giggling younger kids, a few exhausted looking older kids, and a throng of parents with zombie like expressions of resignation as they waited to shell out five dollars for a precious memory that was slowly compacting their heels into their spine while they waited.

She was not even a little bit surprised to see Curl... er... Istas standing in line for StinkyClaus, with a new or... rather... different plush backpack on.

Quila herself was wearing a zip up hoodie with a pen that dripped rainbow ink across the front in surrealistic designs that reminded her of a Beatles video, and a heathered gray turtleneck underneath. Her jeans had the sides slit, and flared with dark red fabric in paisley handkerchief designs, and she thought they looked awesome with her blue boots.

She felt a little bad still for being so vigorously creeped out to Istas dedication to... she wasn't sure what to call it... 'Kinderlolli?'... though that might yet change, and she was half sure she would regret holding out a five over the ropes to Istas, but... well... Sometimes mothertrucking superheroes had to take a risk.

"I'm not even going to ask what you're asking for for Christmas."

Istas looked up from her wallet to Jonquil. Had she known that she was being labeled 'Kinderlolli' she'd have to protest this wasn't quite as frilly as what she normally wore.

Her head tilted at the five. "Oh, HI!" She said with a smile, shaking her head as she pulled out a five of her own. "I have money for shopping." She paused glancing at Quila as she shrugged, "I'm not here to tell Santa what I want. I want to get a picture for my parents, they're still nostalgic."

She chuckled, "Buy anything interesting?" She asked curiously as she hummed.

"...If they're being nostalgic wouldn't they just... look at old Santa pictures?" Quilla frowned. Already she kind of regretted not just heading for the bus stop. Maybe she should just do that. This was whack.

She stuffed the five back into her pocket with a shrug, shifting the bags to her other hand.

"...Christmas stuff mostly. Friends. Family. You know... whatever." She shrugged.

"I've got a bus to catch. You have fun with uh." She glanced down the line at the Santa, and didn't bother to hide her narrowed eyes or slight curled lip of unease. "...Nostalgia."

Nostalgia was kind of like circus peanut candy. It only looked fun and sweet until you actually had experience with it, then you knew it just... wasn't.

Owen didn’t want to be here. He hadn’t believed in Santa since he was four and realized that it was impossible for one man to visit every house in the world in one night, especially now that he was old enough to read books about time zones and how day and night worked. But it was a tradition for Mama to take a picture of him with Santa to send to his grandparents, and so here he was, waiting in line to climb on the lap of some man who probably smelled of pizza and chicken wings.

Yuck.

If it wasn’t for Mama, he’d have been out of here already – but she hung onto this tradition, and he wanted to make her happy. So instead of making an escape from the line of wiggling toddlers, blank-eyed parents and the kids his own age, Owen instead tried to simply distract himself by looking at the others trapped in this terrible line with him. Maybe there would be someone else from Knightside here? Maybe even one of his classmates?

... Wait.

He didn’t want any of his classmates here. They were kind of dumb and might actually believe in Santa Claus. He already knew from experience that if he tried to tell them about the real origins of Santa Claus (he’d read it in a book!), they would just get upset and he would end up getting in trouble. He really didn’t want to get in trouble, not when it was so close to Christmas! Mama got so stressed around Christmastime, and he wasn’t going to make it worse. So he would just have to hope he didn’t run into any classmates, and if he did that it would at least be the ones that were smart enough to know that Santa wasn’t real, because he hated seeing people believe incorrect information!

Bleh. This was so boring. And dumb. Maybe he could grab a book from his backpack. Would anyone notice if he tried to read in the middle of the line? Probably, but it was worth the risk, and small hands tugged the backpack off of his back and dug through it, grabbing his copy of The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe so that he could read through it while he waited. Books were way better than waiting around and being bored.

Well things had not been running as smoothly as Aluminite would have liked because he was running late, which seemed to be a trend lately, and he hated being late. Unfortunately, squeezing the Santa suit over his uniform -- the long tail coat especially difficult-- proved to be more of a challenge than he had anticipated. Still he managed to keep himself from looking like a total mess and arrived at the mall only twenty minutes later than intended.

He had a bag slung over his shoulder, filled with the stuffed animals they planned to give out, and he found himself tugging at the artificial beard. Lord did it itch. He held out from scratching however, because he had a part to play and he had put too much time and energy into this plan to let it be foiled by an itchy face.

He turned to Teallite and grinned at her. "Ready?" He asked trying not to stare obviously at her in her costume. She made Christmas look lovely. He turned away quickly, cleared his throat and put on his Santa face.

"Ho, ho, ho! My look at all the good boys and girls that have lined up to see Santa!" He bellowed, chuckling. "Sorry I'm late but my reindeer got caught up in those games of theirs!"

"Oh come on, stop being too cool for everything." Istas said with a shake of her head at Quila, "Plus the bus doesn't leave here for another fifteen minutes I'm sure we have time."

Istas watched at the Santa Claus showed up with a sack of toys. Her eyes squinted as she looked at him he was a little thin for a Santa it seemed. Though she was curious what he had in the bag, "You can't tell me you're not at least curious to see what he has in the bag."

She paused as she turned around and noticed a boy she'd seen from Knightside though she wasn't sure they'd ever really met besides passing in the hallway. She waited for Owen to look up before waving at him.

Istas then beamed at Quila again, "See there's others from Knightside here. It's not that bad."

She watched as the line waited for Santa to sit and the assisting elf would let them through.

Waiting to see Santa wasn't Briar's idea of a particularly fun way to spend the afternoon - he didn't even believe in Santa and the whole idea of standing in line to see a fake seemed pretty pointless to him.

His Mum had thought otherwise though and had dropped him off, which is how he'd ended up at the back of the line of those waiting to see Santa in the gingerbread cottage, having reached the line just as Santa or rather whoever they had gotten to play Santa had turned up with a filled sack. The only small mercy being that she hadn't decided to wait with him - after all he was all of eleven, old enough that he was perfectly able to queue in a line.

He vaguely thought he recognised some of those waiting in the line from around school, a lilac-haired girl (Istas), an older silvery-grey haired girl (Jonquil) and a younger blue-haired boy (Owen), although it may have been from the library that he recognised the last from.

Not that Briar was making any real move to approach any of the three, already feeling uncomfortable at how many people seemed to have turned out to see Santa.

Quila actually growled as she pinched the bridge of her nose, lip curling in a grimace.

She hadn't. She HAD.

"...Actually..." She noted through clenched teeth, each sylable of the first word drawn out angrily. "I can tell you exactly that. It's toys in the bag. it said so in the ad. So the farg what if I don't want to sit on some stinky strangers lap and pretend I think his fake beard doesn't look like he glued half a bag of stuffing to some fabric and hoped for the best. If that makes me..." She paused for very sarcastic air quotes. "Toooo cooool for everything." Than fine. I'm "toooo cooool" for everything." (Air quotes again.)

She spread her hands, palm up and added a very, very forced smile to the equation as her bags swung from her arms.

"Tooooo coooool mannnn. WATER TRIBE."

Ok that was a serious non sequitur, but her own pose had reminded her of Soka, and he was her kind of goofy idiot-warrior, and he was sort of awesome when he put on war paint. Kinda hot awesome. For a cartoon.

...Speaking of which ohgodtherereallywereotherkidssheknew. FUGNAUGHT.

"Broski," Dana was dressed in her newest mildly punk twist of a fashion obsession and had spent the day shopping (and maybe a touch of shoplifting) just for the fun of wearing heavy cat eye eyeliner and shirking the St. Mags uniform for the day, when she popped up next to Quila with no consideration for the ongoing conversation amongst the others. She shifted the weight she was holding; A few shopping bags from a long day.

She had been cutting through to take a shortcut home when she spotted the silvery hair and decided to ask. "Wut are you doing?" They had, after all, recently had a sleepover where they discussed many things that led Dana to believe her former classmate wouldn't be caught dead in Santa's village.

"Hey! Hey!" An eight year old with lilac ringlets yelled loud enough to break her little voice into a hoarseness as she tugged on Zia's arm and pointed wildly in the general direction of Santa. "Santa's here! Aunt Zee come on we have to get in line," She babbled as she jumped up and down and dug her fingers into Zia's jacket, pulling with all the might of her small body until her legs slid out from under her and she landed on her butt under the bench Zia was sprawled out on in her phone.

"Calm down, El," She muttered tapping on the screen. She had decided the line was pointless and gone to sit down, not wanting to put too much effort into this outing she had somehow gotten conned into. Her older brother was in town and suggested taking his daughter to go see Santa, but she had no idea saying that sounded fun like a veritable zombie would suddenly have the responsibility cast on her.

And thus, Zia had somehow joined the throngs of lethargic parents and babysitters as she, in the most generous of terms, kept an eye on the spazzing child in the park who could barely stay upright.

She was barely paying attention as she pulled up her fluffy fur hood and went back to texting.

((Ooc: quoting is a bit difficult on my phone, I will be better in the future, sorry :'D

Alise didn't believe in Santa, and hadn't since probably first grade or so, possibly earlier. She believed in ghosts, could come up with conspiracy theories about what Santa really was, but otherwise wasn't particularly interested in sitting on some stranger's lap to ask him for things she knew she'd never get.

Last year, she had asked for EVP recorder to look for ghosts. 'Santa' had laughed, and suggested she ask for some new dolls instead. Never again... except her mother wanted the picture-taking opportunity, and thus Alise was stuffed into yet another frilly dress and shuffled out the door, to stand in a line of other kids, some of whom she was pretty sure went to the same school. Fidgeting uncomfortably (she hated dressing up), Alise waited in line as she hoped for something interesting to happen to make the day go by faster.

The sooner she could get home and out of the dress, the better.

Oh, was Santa here? Owen looked up with an unimpressed expression. Awfully skinny Santa - and awfully young, too. They could have at least gotten one who looked the part. This one looked young, and too thin, and really, kind of pathetic - and that was saying something considering photo Santas usually looked terrible.

Fidgeting with the bow-tie on the tux his mother had insisted he wear for the visit, Owen was about to go back to his book when he caught of Istas waving at him. She looked familiar, though he wasn't sure he knew her very well. Was she here to be tortured get her picture taken too? Or to get some of those toys?

"Hi,," he called out, though he didn't put his book away. She was having a conversation with someone - he didn't want to interrupt too much. That was rude!

The rents were out doing the annual Christmas shopping, which meant only one thing would be happening for Scott Erlea this evening. The children, all four of them, would be left with him, where they would then partake in a classic holiday tradition: seeing Santa Claus!

Scott himself knew it to be an older man in a suit, forcing himself to be overly enthusiastic and jolly, allowing children to sit on his knees all for the sake of a paycheck, and while he suspected that Mikey and John knew it too, he warned them to play along, for not only the sake of the younger Erleas, but for the sake of the other children that were there as well. And by warned, he more or less meant bribed them with a sugary treat before the night was through.

It wasn't that Scott didn't want to be there, in a crowded place full of children screaming in his ears, being pushed and prodded by his siblings, one of which bouncing around excitedly on his shoulders and the other constantly pulling at his shirt asking questions. It was more like he was looking forward to seeing a certain someone again. Something had just crossed his mind a few days after he spoke with her, something that would have answered her question, and while he could have easily called or texted her the answer, he wanted to do it in person. Not that he knew why... it just felt like it was necessary to see her again.

"Scotty, Scotty, are you Santa? Your face is all red!" George's laughter pulled his attention back to the present, forcing Scott to steady steel himself and prepare to defend himself before the other kids jumped in. Thankfully, there was another distraction set for the children, as Paul's bouncing intensified as he pointed to 'Santa'. "He's here! He's here!"

Which meant that this line would get moving soon, which meant a great deal of relief for his neck. He ushered the other children forward, not wanting their spot in line to be taken by others now that Old Saint Nick arrived. "Come on, then, let's not make Mr. Claus wait too long. You all remember what you want, right?"

Each of the kids bobbed their heads up and down, even the two non-believers that were Mikey and John. Scott was grateful that they were willing to play along with him, and he was preparing to take mental notes so that he could quickly flip open his phone and text the rents while they were out on their quest. Paul was too excited, waving his little arms around and shouting for everyone to hear, much to Scott’s dismay. “Santa, Santa, Santa!”

The silvery-grey haired girl (Jonquil) seemed about as happy as he was to be there - that is not very and Briar found himself hoping that the 'Santa', a Santa incidentally who obviously had missed the brief that Santa was supposed to be a fat jolly old man, would hurry up and finish doing whatever he was doing.

At least that silvery-grey haired girl was further up the queue, which meant that she'd get to get it over faster, whereas Briar was stuck near the back.

Although it wasn't long before he was no longer the last one at the end of the queue, with first a pink-haired girl (Alise) and then what felt to be a whole bunch of people (the Erleas) turned up. The latest bunch seemed happy and cheerful totally the opposite to Briar who just wanted the queue to start moving so that he could see Santa and just go already.
