"Ugh. Here, fishy fishy..."

The park had not rendered entirely great specimens when Zia fished for her index. She had met some interesting people and gathered some interesting information, but after an increase in obtaining Order aligned senshi, her index had not grown.

She decided to try a new patrol heavy area and took to the rooftops of the downtown Destiny City area before she found her little perch and shifted forms. Suddenly her aura flooded the immediate area as the parallel aligned mauvian started the energy leak most cats generally tried to avoid.

And she was already impatient.

Everyone was always running around, either on the streets directly under her hanging bare feet or the rooftops at her back, so really, someone had to notice the beacon and come. Right?

The signal was received and came as a shock to the General. Something that powerful coming out of nowhere was not the usual, and he nearly missed his landing as he looked around. Grabbing the ledge of the building he nearly missed, he hoped up to the roof and turned around in the direction of the aura. That would not be one he passed up, despite whatever unpredicted dangers. A aura like that would have a very nice starseed to return back to HQ as a trophy.

He wasted no time, and teleported as close as he could before jumping to the rooftop of the building of the aura. It was....a woman. Older than any young senshi he met, but then he noticed a few things senshi didn't have. The start on the forehead, and most notably, the ears and tail.

He just had to stare at that a moment. "You're not a senshi." He ventured to guess out loud. She wasn't a knight either.

While she was expecting the parallel aura to gain some interest, she almost scrunched up her nose at the 'you're not a senshi' comment, like being compared to the mundane White Moon was an insult to her integrity.

But when she looked and actually saw the general, she tried not to react too sharply in spite of the sensation of her blood running cold and draining from her face.

He had been a captain when Ares grabbed her to suppress the auras necessary for Operation Rota, but he was pretty unmistakably General Wolframite.

"No, I'm a cat, obviously," She snarked, trying to blow off the shock of recognizing him and jump right into talking. It never really worked on generals, but it was worth a shot, especially since her relocation didn't lend itself to familiarity with too many escape routes just yet. "See? Ears? Tail? Dark purple moon," She quipped as she pointed to all these features, and avoided the Blood Moon brand on her chest.

"How's the hunting tonight, General?"

Something was off. First and foremost, why was a cat standing out in the open declaring her presence? What purpose did it serve? The only time anyone of such a power level just sent their energies out like a beacon was to ask for trouble, or as bait. Cats were also prized since they created soldiers. Without cats, there wouldn't be senshi, and there weren't that many cats he actually got to see. Where were her guards? Her escorts? He group that protected her?

The second thing, and the one he could not shake or define, was the feeling of familiarity. A voice. A face. He couldn't place her, though he was sure if he met a cat that he would remember her.

He looked over her outfit, trying to see if the visuals would lend him some clue to her identity. "Depends....are we counting right now?" He looked back up at her, a memory digging at the back of his mind, sluggish but repressed.

"I usually only see cats on four legs. What brings you out into the open like this, kitty?" He glanced around, trying to sense any auras. He would not be jumped again.

She wasn't sure if fear had come full circle to some sort of weird cockiness or if her toothy grin was more out of fear than she'd like to admit. Fear was almost a foreign and dull sensation at this point.

She just smoothed out the purple overlay and decided to press forward, complete with a sarcastic 'meow' at his comment about cats being on four legs. At this point, she made a conscious decision to shift down. If she did, that closed the beacon, and it was just the two of them alone. This way, someone might come.

"Any guardian cat has the potential to assume their humanoid form, even cats of the Negaverse, even if they don't know it just yet," She said, clearing her throat. "I'm sending out the beacon in the hopes of meeting interesting people to talk to. I index interesting people to occupy my time. Knights and Negaverse officers. You're anomalies specific to this universe and that's... relevant. To me."

She twirled on ringlet between her fingers as she looked him up and down. "Are you thinking about taking from me? That might be a waste, all things considered," Although she wouldn't blame him for it. She has half expecting it, even, as she mulled through the dangerous uncertainty of his presence. "How have you been, Wolframite? I see you've been promoted."

"Abnormality? A talking cat is considering me an abnormality? Alright then, but remember I was born on Earth and seek to protect it. You are some space cat who floated down like a piece of litter that got stuck. I'd reconsider what you consider an abnormality. I'm a native. You're the foreigner, and a very messed-up on at that." One that sought to concur his planet like all foreigners before coming to what they considered a new land. She was also the bringer and creator of her little army, and he knew that guardian cats were the roots to that force. Taking one down greatly weakened the other side.

"A waste? Considering what? You sent out a beacon after all. What sort of attention did you expect to receive? A dish of warm milk and a scratch behind the ears?" He decided to test her and stepped closer. If he could kill her, or even still, corrupt her, then it would be a nice star beside his name. Would they consider promoting him then?

The last comment bothered him, and he stopped after a few steps. "I'd say you are the same rank, but - " He hated to admit it. "- I don't remember ever meeting you." Yet how many cats did he ever meet? Why was this one hard to bring up?

It nagged at him terribly, and he was frustrated by his own mind that he couldn't bring it up and continue his snarky remarks. It really ruined the mood.

"Ah, ha, excellent point," She said with a wave of her finger like he'd made some fantastic observation, comparing her foreign presence on Earth. She could elaborate, and mention she had accidentally gotten trapped here with Ares and the rest of the Parallel Court after Nehelenia's death, and that normally made the officers who stood from his viewpoint a little more open.

But this was Wolframite, and she was certain that the second she mentioned that connection she was going to be more acquainted with his general weapon than she ever wanted to be.

"You know, most officers find the strange power signature curious, or are just in general quite nice," She quipped as she knitted her fingers behind her back. And it was true. It had been a while since she had been reminded that the Negaverse was actually a threat, and that some officers weren't quite so cuddly.

She was familiar with Wolframite, if only mostly as an icon of past exploits rather than an individual. She had been in a haze in Operation Rota, suppressing aura from the shadows and trying her best not to die at Ares' unrealistic demands. But she'd known what had been done to him and her own part in facilitating it. Besides that she knew he was a different generation of Negaverser, and he wouldn't be manipulated like the new lieutenants she liked to mess with.

So in spite of her cocky appearances, when he stepped forward, she moved back.

She was on edge, and ready to run, no matter how much sarcasm and laughter was coming out.

"Yes, well, we've never met officially, I suppose," She said as she tried her hardest to scope out a pathway to run off the rooftop. "I've heard of you, that's all."

He frowned, clearing not caring for her tone, but noticed she did move. That alone assured him he had some weight in the conversation, and that she would run if he made a move. "You're too cocky about your aura. I'm not all that curious about cats. You are roots that need to be ripped out before you sprout more senshi, and you hide around under their protection. You mask and run. Just a animal with tricks." He simplified, taking another step.

"For the officers who are curious, they need to be better educated. A tail and ears don't make you cute and innocent. The only good cat is a dead one, and I'll take a great bit of joy in throwing you in a bag and tossing you to the river if your starseed wasn't valuable." Showing that you killed a cat was a nice little plus to your career as a Negaverser, and he had yet to have the pleasure.

"What does your gossip tell you about me? I'd love to hear it and clear up a few misconceptions." He took another step. "I don't think I've heard anything about you. Guess your aura isn't all that impressive enough to talk about."

"Well that's rude," She said with an awkward laugh, taking another half step back to match his advances before she looked over her shoulder to double check how close the ledge was, and then back to Wolframite. "I'll have you know, popular opinion says I'm adorable and very charming."

She cleared her throat and then made a dramatic shrug. "Gossip is a little harsh. I mean... Ya hear things I guess." She sacrificed her energy beacon to shift to her fully feline form, hoping to make a smaller target of herself as she prowled around the ledge, trying to casually uncorner herself. Even if she suffered the indignity of the fluffy winter coat this form was sporting. She was practically a round puffball with paws these days.

"Was it hard making an alliance with Ares' new court after Operation Rota?" She asked as she pawed around.

Apparently curiosity trumped survival instinct.

The bad thing about big puff balls was that they were more hairy, and he took a step back in hopes that distance would save him from his allergies. It was odd seeing someone who appeared to be a full-grown woman change into a cat, and he had to admit that he tended to like cats better when they were on four legs than one. However, it also made him realize more than ever that all cats previous could be people. That in no way meant they wouldn't be torn to pieces, but it was still a thought.

Speaking of tearing to pieces, Miss Kitty was really begging for it. Gritting his teeth, he summoned his weapon. "What the ******** do you even know about that operation? You were probably licking your a** when that happened, Miss Priss." Considering she had yet to give her name. He moved closer again, his eye narrow. "I never extended friendship to that court and never will, but if it's one thing I am, it's loyal to my own." He would have been a traitor if he had fought against Ares, but that didn't mean he wouldn't slice her throat if he could cover it up.

The weapon making an appearance was a mixed bag for Zia. On the one hand, it was relevant to her index. On the other, it was probably going to kill her before it could properly be recorded.

Still, she shifted her shoulders like a cat aiming to pounce on something, daring him to make a move for her to dodge.

"I didn't say anything about friendship, but alliances are different. And Operation Rota was nasty business. Or do you have loyalty induced amnesia?"

She was pushing, and she realized it was hard to actually stop, since it had been so long since there had been actual consequences for this sort of thing. Her pushing usually had a point, big risks with a possible payoff. But there wasn't too much of a possible payoff here except her own bitterness and curiosity.

Curiosity was usually not that great for cats according to the cliche.

"If they were so willing to forget for Ares' unreliable help, it sounds like the loyalty your organization has for you is a little bit lacking," She was moving to dart around before she even finished talking. Whether he threw his weapon or not, she was obviously a little bit jumpy.

The blade was whipped in her direction, a very sensitive button smashed by her prodding into a topic that Wolframite did not like even lightly brushed against. NO ONE could talk about Operation Rota unless they were there, and if they had been there, then they were as good as dead in his eyes. They only deserved the most severe punishment, the most painful of deaths, and to have their starseed crushed in his hands so they could never come to exist even milliena from now. He wanted to wipe their very existence from the face of Earth and the entire galaxy.

"I have forgotten NOTHING!" He shouted, green eye alight with a seething hatred always kindling in his eyes at the memory of such a night. "The Negaverse owes nothing to me. They are not in debt to me. I serve them. I owe them everything. I would risk my life for their purpose. You insult me to think that they should owe me any sort of loyalty. I give my heart and soul to the Negaverse and would not ask anything in return than the ability to continue to serve them. Ares is not part of that organization, and is not part of the Negaverse. She is a corrupt b***h who had to crawl to us because she needed us. It wasn't my decision to take them, but I am no traitor." He shouted out, aiming again for her and even more if he could manage. If she moved, he would try again and again until he cut her under his blade.

"But if I so much as see her, I will kill her." Traitor or not, Ares was one person he would not let live even under a command. She had to die for what she did, and he wanted to see it happen. He didn't care what he had to do, even if it was behind the back of his superiors, to see that happen.

Fur literally and figuratively seemed to fly as the ball dropped and that tension they had been teetering on since the first second they encountered one another broke.

Zia didn't really regret it. Probably because she had already had her 'oh, crap' moment as soon as she saw who the general was and resigned herself to fleeing early on, so this had been too anticipated to be a shock to her system. His answers were interesting, though, especially in comparison to the newer generation of recruits she had been spending so much time with.

Wolframite was a traditional soldier, a good soldier, and one with a hilarious amount of hatred for the hellbitch. She laughed, and probably would've spent more time musing on it if these answers hadn't come at the expense of him trying to cut her up.

She darted and dodged and jumped the edge of the building to the ledge she had scoped out earlier, shooting a blast of energy in his general direction when she went over, and then hit the street level with a yowl of pain. Further inspection would've brought the bloom of deep red on lilac fur on her back leg, but even without looking, the shot of anguish when she landed was enough to let her know it was there, adrenaline or not.

She caught a glimmer of a nearby Order signature but couldn't stop long enough to decipher what it who it was. She clung to a small bit of hope that the flare from firing off a cat laser would draw some attention but after running a few steps shifted back to a full, humanoid Mauvian. SOS, attention over here please.

This shift to a larger form did the opposite of help the gash on her leg, however.

While patrol that night had been uneventful, Valhalla hadn’t exactly wanted to make things more exciting by witnessing a battle to the death, especially when it involved two people he knew and respected, one of whom was his best friend from when he was in middle school.

It hadn’t been difficult to realize that it might very well be Zia because he’d never met anyone else with that specific aura before. The fact that he felt the aura of a General near her didn’t make him all that confident in the situation to begin with and, as she would say, he assumed the worst and figured she was trying to get herself killed.

Lo and behold, not too long after starting to jump across building roofs towards their signatures did he catch a glimpse of the beam of energy that he’d seen before, and at a particularly close distance on the night he’d awakened as a Page. It wasn’t something he would easily forget, and knowing what it had done to her then, he sped up, only catching a glimpse of a Negaverse officer several buildings away as he leapt down a fire escape to the ground to try and meet up with her.

“Zee, what the hell??” he called as he closed the distance of the final block between them as she fled from the General still high above. Valhalla’s face was already devoid of color as panic at seeing her in distress rose up in his chest.

“What’s going on? What the hell happened to your leg? Who did that??” he sputtered out, eyes wide and fearful as he gripped tightly to the gyrocompass, trying to prepare himself for whatever might happen next.

He had already lost kills due to escaping, and it always infuriated him to no ends. This time, he would not let the cat get away. She had deliberately prodded at an incident that changed his life and ended those of many others. The blast had hit him and sent him flying back, but once he groaned, swore twice, and got on his feet, he teleported down. He felt the signature come, and he would not be robbed.

Instantly showing up on the street, he summoned his weapon and teeth clenched, looked upon Valhalla and the injured cat. "MOVE IT! She's MINE!" He started to spin the end of his weapon, taking aim. The knight would not get in the way. "I don't want to hurt you Valhalla but I will rip off your damn arm if you get in my way." There was no joking in his tone as he looked upon the injured cat woman.
