General Information
Custom: Semi-Custom
Character Name: Vyren "Vye" Khoe
Pronunciation: v-eye-ren | v-eye | ko
Race: Dovaa
Gender: Male
Clan: Firani
Sexuality: Not Decided (to be Homosexual)
Text Color: #B51D1D

Appearance
Appearance:
Looks:
Tan Skin, Purple (Then Red) Eyes, These Horns (without the gold ornament), Black Hair (style can differ, just shorter hair during the Apprentice stage is desired as it will grow out longer with time).
I also see him having black scales across his cheeks, on the outer sides of his eyes, on the backs of his hands, elbows, knees, tops of his feet, across his chest, down his sides and thighs, across the shoulder blades and lower back.

Clothing:
You can draw inspiration from any of these. Whichever things the artist pulls will be his clothing style for the rest of his life -- most likely. Clothing doesn't really matter to me nearly as much as the physical appearance. Avatar: The Last Airbender styled, medieval styled, or whatever the artist wishes to put him in is fine with me. I don't have too much style myself, so whatever the artist wishes is fine by me. emotion_c8

As He Grows:
The changes that will occur when Vye grows are quite general. When he chooses his Firani clan, his eyes will be a fierce, deep red. I want his scales to change from all black, to red speckles within the black (with black being the more dominant scale color). One section of his hair will be permanently dyed that same red color (matching his eyes). I'm also debating whether or not his horns (any or all) should change color to offset the deep black color of his hair. Suggestions as to whether or not this should occur would be greatly appreciated.

Personality
Traits:
Resolute | Fiercely Independent | Fiery Temper | Grossly Arrogant | Cunning | Self-Disciplined | Vain | Loyal

Description:
    Resolute
"My goal is set. Heh, time to get started."
Vyren is a very determined person. When he sets his mind to something, whatever that may be, he won't stop until his goal is achieved. This trait is both negative and positive. For if he becomes determined to beat a dragon, he will practice and practice until he feels ready to go out and fight that dragon. Yet, if he is determined to seek revenge on someone who has wronged him, he won't stop until he feels vindicated. All in all, whatever Vyren seeks to do, he will not stop until it's done.

    Fiercely Independent
"No, I can do it myself. I don't need your help."
Growing up in such an unstable home all his life, Vye has always been extremely independent and self-reliant. Even from a very young age, he realized that he could truly rely on no one but himself. Thus, friendship and companionship are very queer to him. He won't turn down the help of someone if they offer, necessarily, especially if he knows that he can't do whatever the task is by himself, but he will always take the "harder route" if a task is given to him that he must share; if only to prove to himself and everyone else that he can take care of himself.

    Fiery Temper
"Get out of my ******** face!"
Living with all the anger and frustration as a child with his parents, Vyren has grown up thinking that having a temper was always a normal reaction. The fuse with him is rather short, and annoyance comes quickly. He will scream, curse, and fight to no end and no matter who it is that angers him. He generally isn't apologetic whenever he does hurt someone's feelings with his anger, either. He feels they deserved what they got, and isn't going to back down from a heated fight or debate until he feels that he's won. Whether he knows he is in the wrong or not, he doesn't like to give in.

    Grossly Arrogant
"I'm the best. No one can overcome me."
Vye is extremely arrogant, thinking that he's literally the gods gift to Magesc. He feels entitled to everything (the personality trait handed down from father to son). He believes that he will, one day, be as infamous as Twilight, the Oblivionite Warrior. Not that infamy is something that he wishes, but he does look up to the great Twilight as a role model in some sense. He also looks to his father (and all his deeds, good and bad) as a huge role model in his life as well, being the only person left in it to help him achieve greatness. Vyren feels as though he deserves more than others for having been put through so much in his life, thus far. He will talk down to others (especially Hybrids and women) as much lower than him and feels that only other men can really be up to his "quality standards".

    Cunning
"I am so sorry! I swear I didn't mean to do it."
Acting is a great quality within Vye. With a few sad tears or woeful words of apology, he seems to get out of most situations with ease. He can say or do things with what seems to be such sincerity that people believe his ruse. He has been able to get away with a lot of things in his lifetime with his parents and guardians. He is used to getting his way when it comes to elders, for his cute, innocent persona allows his words to be taken to heart more likely than not. This cunning attitude will turn sour and quickly escalate into anger if, in fact, he has failed to con someone or if someone doesn't believe his act to be sincere.

    Self-Disciplined
"Training comes first, always. If you don't train, you can never improve."
Vyren has always been very disciplined to his training and honing his skills. This is probably his best quality, by far and will be until the day he dies. He knows that to be the best, you have to practice and train every day. He has set up for himself a strict regime that increases his dexterity, accuracy, and stamina. You must be skilled in not only the force of the blow, but the defensive aspect of the fight as well. Offense is important, but he literally views the saying, "The best offense is a good defense." as his life meaning. His life revolves around his training and mastery of the Firani skills and his defenses. He leaves very little time for anything but, in his own life.

    Vain
    "I look amazing today, don't I?"
Vye is in no way afraid of a mirror. He looks good, and he knows it. This, along with his arrogant attitude towards his abilities just makes for a very self-pleasing and self-loving person. He loathes those that don't find him attractive and will make it a point to make sure they know of his looks and skill. He is not afraid to flex his built up muscle in the direction of anyone and will be sure to show his supremacy over others whenever he can. (This will be much more apparent in his later stages. His apprentice stage he will find that he is "cute", which will turn into massive vanity later in his life.)

    Loyal
"Whatever you need, I will do."
Vyren is an extremely loyal person. Probably his second-best quality, he is loyal without wavering whatsoever. First to his father and then to anyone who tickles his fancy a bit. When he finally does find a friend (whoever is willing to put up with him and all his flaws) he will stick by that person to the end of days. He will finally fight for someone other than himself (thinking of them as "second best in the world" to him, of course), and be there for them whenever they need him. This is where his "kinder" side comes to light. Yes, he's sort of an a*****e through and through, but when someone taps into his loyalty, that loyalty grows into sensitivity towards that person. His admiration for them will grow to be so great that he would stop at nothing to help them achieve their goals as well. Thus, his sensitive and kind side will show through his undying loyalty towards others that he feels deserve it.

Family
Zeth Khoe
Father
A spitfire of a Firani Dovaa, this man is Vyren's biggest role model. Though the tragic events occurred that rendered Lyrette dead, Vye believes that his father's excuse was sound and that he didn't have any part of hurting his mother. Of course, the lies surrounding such a story were far from the truth, Vye doesn't believe his father has done any wrong and wishes to be just like him when he grows, without the imprisonment of course.

Lyrette Maeth-Khoe
Mother
A Firani Dovaa as well, Vyren looked as his mother as a good woman, with some bad characteristics. In his eyes, Zeth could do no wrong, whereas his mother was wrong constantly. If his mother told him no, he would go to his father, who would tell him yes. Vye never looked as his mother as being a necessarily "malicious" parent, but he didn't care for her one way or another. She was a "good mom" for all reasons being, but her death didn't really affect him as much as it probably should have.

Paen Orestea
Legal Guardian
After the falling out of his parents and the death of his mother, imprisonment of his father and all of that, Paen took him in and he has been living with him ever since. Obviously, Vye wishes he could be with his father, though that is impossible until his release. Paen is his trainer, the person who was always there for him from the time he was three until now. When he heard of Zeth's misfortunes, Paen agreed to take Vye under his wing and train him up to be the best Firani he could be. A Firani Dovaa himself, Paen understands the powers and hopes the best for little Vye.

History
The following passage contains content that may not be appropriate for all audiences. A more vivid murder scene is depicted towards the end. Reader discretion advised!!!

❦ Before the Birth~
The story begins not with Vyren, but his parents. His father, Zeth Khoe, married his mother, Lyrette Maeth. But first, lets take you through the lives of Zeth and Lyrette. Zeth grew up in a family of strict Firani Dovaa and knew that his future wife had to be a spitfire just like he was. They met as Adepts in training and grew to be friends, then friends with benefits, and finally a couple after a few years. The two were, for the most part, independent from each other and neither needed, nor wanted, to be tied down. The couple fought often and took many breaks throughout their relationship, but one thing was for certain; the two loved each other very much.

One thing brought them to the point of marriage. As the story went, the two disliked the feeling of being tied down, but something caused that to change. It was a baby. Lyrette found herself to be pregnant with a baby. The healers within the Celestial Plane had told her it would be a boy. The two Firani Dovaa were now unsure of what to do, but marriage was definitely of top priority, as it was an abomination to have a baby out of wedlock.

And thus, the very quick wedding was being planned and within a couple weeks (and much stress upon both Bride and Groom) the two were able to be wed. Their families were then told of the very sudden pregnancy. Of course, the two lied and said they had conceived after the wedding, but that is beside the point. After a few months, they found themselves in the healer's quarters, Lyrette giving birth to their firstborn son.

❦ The Beginning~
Vyren was born into the family and everyone was at peace with themselves. As he grew, he gravitated towards his father and loved to watch him train every day. His first word was "dada" and everyone knew he was daddy's little boy.

Lyrette was keen on the idea that the boy would grow up to be like his father, a strong, powerful Dovaa. That was something the woman always loved about her husband; his strength and dedication to the craft. But of course, the two fought still, tangled in a web of constant battle with one another that neither could win; trying their best to keep it from their son and others. That was, until one day...

❦ Dearly Departed~
Lyrette had been slowly falling into depression due to her husband's constant anger with her. Nothing she ever did would satisfy him. He would constantly put her down, now not caring if Vye was around. During these younger years, Vyren looked upon his father's actions as just, and his mother's as laziness and deserving. Vye even began to speak in the same tone as his father towards his mother, even at such a young age. This just caused Lyrette's depression to spiral out of control.

One day, she found herself alone with Zeth as Vye had been out with Paen, his trainer. She had finally gathered the courage to bring up a specific subject with Zeth.

            "Zeth..." she began.

"What is it?" the man said in a cold tone.

Tears began to caress her cheeks as she began to speak. "I can't do this any longer. I've made arrangements to go stay with my parents on the outskirts of the city with Vye once he gets home from training. I just...it's too -- AHH!"

SLAP. THUD. The woman fell to the ground in pain, holding her face, tears streaming even more so now.

"You will do NO such thing, you disgusting b***h!" Zeth yelled, "Get up. Now. GET UP!" he said, his hands clenched, flames flickering off of his knuckles and smoke escaping his nostrils.

Lyrette shook on the floor in fear for a moment, but got up when he went down to grab her arm and yank her to her feet. She struggled to get away a bit, pleading with the man. "Zeth, you're hurting me! Stop! Let me go! Zeth! ZETH!"

The screams got louder as the prolonged grip of the man got tighter. She even tried to use some of her fire magic on the man, blowing a stream of fire towards his face, which he was able to wave off with his free hand and it just fueled the fire within him. He slapped the woman once again with his free hand, keeping his grip tight upon her arm. Then, he shoved her against a wall, lifting her slightly off the ground, tears still running down her face.

"You disgust me." she said softly, letting herself go limp, bringing a smile to her face. "I've finally said it. Go ahead, beat me senseless like I know you want to." she said, tears stopped, and that same smirk upon her face.

Feeling no fear from her at all caused Zeth to go into a rage. Not only that, but she had demeaned him. Calling him disgusting was the largest insult she could ever tell him. "Heh...well, you'll regret saying those words to me. You won't live to see another day." he said, instantly punching her in the face, causing her to fall unconscious.

He then let her fall to the ground as he went to the kitchen to grab a knife. He then picked her up, took her to the bathing room and set her in the tub. He slashed her wrists and shoved her head underneath the water and held her down until the struggling body ceased to live. He then took the clothes he wore and burned them in the fireplace, cleaning up the mess he had made from shoving her about.

Some time later, Vyren had come home from his training lessons to find his father in chains with the guards surrounding their house. Apparently, the neighbors had been worried of some ruckus they were making. Vye was so uncertain as to what was going on. His father was being taken away in chains and his mother was dead in the house. The guards took Zeth to be questioned and the boy to be held until Paen was able to accompany them at the guard tower.

❦ Family First~
"Vye, I have no idea why they are doing this to me. I came home from the market and your mother was already passed. I love you so much son. I would never do this and you know it. Sure, your mother and I fought, but it never came to this. It would never come to this." he said, tears rushing down his face.

Vyren believed the sorrowful words of his father and hugged him, "I believe you papa. One day we will be reunited again. I love you too, papa." the boy said, tears being shed in fear of losing both his parents, not just one.

"Paen will be taking care of you now, until I can again. Remember, son, that family always comes first." he said, giving his son a kiss on the forehead before being dragged away by the guards into a cell.

"Never papa! I'll never forget! I love you!" he said. Those were the last words he had ever spoken to his father.

❦ The Time In Between~
Since his father's imprisonment exactly one year prior, Vye has devoted his life to training and becoming stronger. He thinks about his parents every day and wonders why his mother did what she did and why his father was being blamed for it. The entire situation was so extremely volatile, that he had decided to lean on no one but himself for anything in this life. Over the course of that year, he had become quite a troubled and independent child. His life sure would never be the same.

Through Vye's Eyes
Thoughts on the Great Engagement:
He can't wait to get into the action. He loves the aspect of war and fighting runs through his veins. His adventurous spirit takes him on many adventures and he can't wait until he's given the chance to get out onto the battlefield. The fire that burns inside of him is not only that of the element, but he has always had the constant burning to overcome and achieve greatness; thus, winning the war with the other races (no matter what side he ends up taking) will be his greatest accomplishment in the end.

Thoughts on the Dragons and Drakeins:
        Dragons
They are a means to power. He sees them as nothing more than powerhouses of ultimate energy. The power they hold can help win the war and he will collect dragon souls day and night to accomplish his goals of becoming strong and powerful.

        Drakein
Just as the dragons, Vye also sees them as energy to be used to his benefit. Their strength can help him overcome and achieve greatness. After all, that's all he's really after anyway. He may one day tame one or two to aid him in his endeavors, but other than that, he's willing to use them to the ends of the earth and back in order to get where he needs to go.

Thoughts on the Other Races:
        Dovaa
The ultimate race. He obviously views these people as the best race within the world. He wishes that the Dovaa wouldn't take sides in the war and just fight it out as a third party to take over the world, although he knows that it won't happen. He feels as though, if he ever does make friends, that they would only be "real" if they were of Dovaa descent. Anyone else will take a bit of work to get him to realize that they would be a "real and true" friend.

        Orderites
Up to this point, he hasn't met any Orderites, but he does view them as a potential ally. He obviously looks down on them (as well as Oblivionites) as lower than the Dovaa for multiple reasons, but he believes that he could align himself with anyone (whoever benefits him most at that time).

        Oblivionites
Up to this point, he hasn't met any Oblivionites, but he does view them as a potential ally. He obviously looks down on them (as well as Orderites) as lower than the Dovaa for multiple reasons, but he believes that he could align himself with anyone (whoever benefits him most at that time). He does have a special place for Twilight, however, the greatest known Oblivionite to walk the earth. His power has given Vye someone to look up to in a sense of competition.

        Hybrids
He honestly looks at Hybrids with disgust. If he can tell you're a Hybrid for any reason, he will automatically be rather rude and discourteous towards them. Mostly because of the fact that he's been raised to believe that only pure bloods (of any race) are much more worthy of his time than any Hybrid would be. He views them as scum and doesn't really care what other's think. If you're a Hybrid Lover, he most likely will look down upon you with disgust.

Under family, you mention his guardian and his father’s clan, but not his mothers. I’m just curious as to what clan she was from? Found it in the history nvm XD

In his history, you mention that his parents were married but no one knew about it. Usually people start to have a “bump” at around 10 ish weeks. How long was the wedding planning and such that no one noticed xD Just a little something to think about.

Otherwise, that's about it!

Yeah, I'll add that in there in her family section as well so people have a heads up before reading through the history.

As far as the wedding, people knew about that, but the baby was under wraps completely. I'll reword it so it seems like it was more of a shotgun wedding than something planned.

EDIT;;
Alright, it's been edited in there that the wedding took place just after a couple weeks of intense planning. Thus, they found out she was pregnant, bam, wedding, bam, baby bump being exposed, hehe. Is that a bit better?

Um... wow... beaten to death by her husband.. can I have Kadryn meet the father and beat him senseless? Or kill him...

Just um... hmm... Do realize this is a pg 13 site in you future rp's and put a warning on top of posts that have gruesome things like that. That'll help us avoid complaints and reportings.

One question: He is raised by dovaa, never seen an Oblivionite, and views his race as superior. So why would he idolize Twilight? How'd he learn about that figure, what makes someone whose race he looks down upon be his hero of sorts?

And if he idolizes and oblivionite, then he should probably lean towards that race and think orderites are lesser than oblivs cause they never produced someone like Twilight. Or something?

Also, does he view all women as weak like his mother? If he's been raised like this, then wouldn't that cause him to view his gender as making him superior in someway?

As stated in the thread, is that too much for this shop?
I mean, I've been in shops (before my hiatus) that had much worse storylines and gruesome things that had occurred.
I've also read other things (that were admittedly VERY interesting) but, I believe are a bit more raunchy than the murder of someone. x]
But if I have to change it I can. She can always die some other way, I just needed his father to go to jail so Paen could be his trainer.
The death of his mother isn't like...TOO gruesome, I don't think personally. That happens ALL the time in the real world and everything.
Plus, the whole shop is about war, right? I'd assumed that death would be everywhere. x]

Yes, he's raised by Dovaa, but I'd assumed that they are told of the successes and everything of the other races. (Being fence sitters as they are, I would assume the Dovaa would want to try and let their people kind of decide which way to lean).
So in a way, you're right, since he looks up to Twilight, he should probably think of the Oblivionites as a bit better than the Orderites. I can definitely change that.
He just wants to be better than Twilight, really. When I read that Twilight was the "best warrior" and has been famous for it, I'd assumed that he would look up to him (not to idolize him necessarily) but as a challenge to be better than him.

Also, yes, he views most all women as lower than him. Thus his homosexuality kicks in. He feels like men are more capable of doing great things than women. He does think he's superior...all the time. After all, he is quite vain and arrogant. x]

In my opinion, that point of the backstory itself acceptable as is. However, the description of her death is...edging on brutal? (Like, it doesn't bother me, but I have an incredibly high tolerance for darker writing.) So perhaps put some kind of trigger warning tag on it for people who are more prone to objecting to that kind of thing (or cut the scene a bit sooner?). Having your mother violently murdered in and of itself does not break any PG13 codes, but the detail of the language there could get you into trouble.

Frankly thought this is a shop about war, death, racism, murder - honestly, I had fits getting people to deal with Detraeus and had to edit whole sections out of his biography (even though it simply mentioned events without even going into any detail on them, let alone writing them out in story format) just so that people wouldn't freak as much when they read about it. But the storyline of the shop is dark and in order to play into it accurately there will be characters who suffer extreme violence, hate, pain, etc.. In addition, point blank there are multiple characters that have had their parents die in their bios - they just haven't written about it in enough detail to make anyone cringe. So yeah, I don't think it should be an issue as a story point, but you might have to tone down the language to keep people from making a fuss.

Edit: Additionally, Araceli's mother was murdered by her father immediately after her birth because he saw Ara's eyes and thought his wife had cheated on him with an oblivionite. Then he killed himself in his sorrow. He murdered his wife. And then killed himself. This is a backstory we have already with an existing character, so no reason it should have to be taken out completely. XD Detraeus' story is also far more...objectionable, but as I said, I did end up having to cut mention of certain things to keep people happy, though they'll still just be an unwritten part of what he's been through.

I have no objection to you saying the father killed the mother.. just don't write it out so vividly! This is a kid friendly (I hope at least) shop that does include non-adults (I think from what I've heard in convos and some pics), which is why I have some objections to that being written out the way it is and to your quest as well Uke, that you worked out.

I also do not have a high tolerance for gruesome or raunchy things, though I know some people do write them out in their rp' s and stuff. Which I tend not too read unless I have too. A moderate tolerance, but some things... well. *shrug*

Yes there is war here, but some things don't... well, don't have to be written with vivid descriptions and detail. Hints are good cause they can mean one thing that isn't as bad as what it actually mean.

Ah, and the way you wrote that just now (twilight bit) makes more sense to me :3 I got the idea that he had Twilight as an idol not a challenge for some reason.

Too bad he doesn't like hybrids, I think Akilae would find him amusing.

Officially I don't see any problems with him and the warning in the history section seems fine. Similarly when/if you get him you may want to ask your rp partners how much detail about that sort of thing they are comfortable with. Some people are more or less descriptive when hunting dragons or writing about injuries they are taking in battles.

I personally have no problem writing about my healer character dealing with wounds oozing putrid smelling pus or how burned flesh looks etc etc. However, I wouldn't go into that kind of description while rping with someone like robo who it makes uncomfortable. I can just as easily say 'Maslin was cleaning and preparing to dress an infected wound', which gets the point across just as well.

Anyways I approve of Vyren ^-^

Oh thank you so much.

Yes, I am quite sure I can keep it PG with those who wish to keep it less vivid.

Does this mean I'm approved? You're staff, yes? emotion_kirakira
