"This... is not absolutely terrible," Zia summarized as she popped up in the cut away wall separating the living room and kitchen. Noah had recently given up his trendy apartment for a legitimate house. On a street. With a yard and everything.
He didn't care about being trendy anyhow. Silly city life. No, this was a good move and he was proud of it. It did, however, make things difficult since he was attempting to experiment this Thanksgiving and everything was in boxes. Boxes were everywhere. Stacked on tables, used to prop up the TV in front of the couch, used as end tables and there were several half unpacked in what was a frantic search for kitchen supplies.
However, by now, mid-day on Thanksgiving, the entire place might've still be packed and bare bones but it smelled like food.
The crisp smell of wood smoke drifted through the house from the back yard and the various scents of fragrant things sauteing and baking made up for the clash and clatter of Noah's assembling of such things.
He had two modes of cooking, really. There was the peaceful, therapeutic cooking when he was alone and then there was cooking with friends and coworkers which mostly involved a lot of angry throwing things and swearing under the guise of working together.
He wasn't really sure what this was since he had to repress the urge to chuck something at Zia and he was pretty sure Ellie would not tolerate his abuse if she made an appearance to help unpack and devour food. The kitchen was a little on the small side anyway, which was one of the reasons Zia had been banned from crossing the line he decided totally separated the area, and probably couldn't handle too much being thrown around.
Whatever, it was going to be awesome.
"Just because it's not a high rise downtown doesn't mean it doesn't have potential," He countered. "Not everything needs to be fashionable bullsh-- don't touch that."
Zia, giving in to the crackled golden crust and smell of butter everywhere in the air, had decided to reach for some fresh bread on the counter and ended up getting her hand hit with a loud THWACK from a slotted spoon he had at hand, and Zia squawked in reaction as she ********, b***h, ow," She muttered, cringing and holding the assaulted hand close. She gave the moderately sized, old house another once over from where she stood, taking careful note of some spots on the wall in dire need of fresh paint.
"Yeah. Whatever," She said with a shrug. "Considering you can't even fix your bike without needing help from a little girl I'm eager to see you try to rewire the electricity."
She was sure Noah's attempts at home improvement shenanigans were going to supply plenty of entertainment for her personal consumption. But the dig was mostly just in revenge for the fact she was apparently not even allowed to touch bread and mostly she just wanted to consume that turkey he had smoking out back that continued to torture her.

Her Thanksgiving had a snafoo she had not been anticipating. However, things had turned out for the better, and after helping clean up at work, Ellie ran home to grab something.
Or rather, someone she didn't want to be alone for the day.
And that someone dragged along a cat who was eagerly licking her maw as she was toted along.
The front door was open at the address she had been told, and without hesitation, she just wandered in, tugging on her companion's arm.
"....so... how much free food am I allowed to take?!" she asked loudly, glancing about the place as she approached what she guessed was the kitchen. A familiar head of lilac hair in ringlets caught her attention.
It was a sure sign she was at the right place.
"...dudes... Annie... Annie..."
She paused from her introduction to point to Zia. "...B*tch..."
Another pause as she pointed towards the actual host. "...and Noah..."
The cat managed to let out a groan and quietly tried to correct one of the assumed names. "...her name is actually Zia..."

Anemone truly had no idea of the significance of this day, at least not in the same respect as everyone else in Destiny City might have. She wasn't born here, and this wasn't a day of celebration that others were used to. It was just another day that Anemone would be left behind in the crowds of people with loved ones, watching with empty grey eyes from the window looking in. Ellie wasn't having any of that though, and once the stubborn blonde grabbed her, Annie grabbed ********* was like a brilliant conga line of two amazons and a cat.
Anemone didn't recognize this house though, nor the people inside. Anemone squeezed ********* softly with anxiety, grey eyes darting left and right as Ellie seemed to be screeching something about food. It was enough to draw Anemone's attention, wondering how much gluttony she could force upon ********* when she thought about it. Haha, force upon. Anemone laughed to herself softly.
Following Ellie into the kitchen, Anemone looked to the two liliac-haired siblings she was being introduced to with a neutral expression that leaned closer to a frown than a straight line. She heard her name, and her expression shifted to a pout, her foot kicking Ellie's almost playfully.
"Annie," she said with pride before she said something kind of rude. "Sup b***h."
There was a grin that hinted she actually did know the meaning of that word as she looked to the brother of the pair.
"Noah hi."

Falco had been, understandably surprised to get an invitation to Thanksgiving, though getting one from estranged relatives might have been slightly stranger than one from Zia. Still it was a bit... odd.
Anxiety had driven him to the kitchen, and he'd brought an attempt at a Pecan Pie, having no idea that Zia's brother was an actual cook who put his pie and it's leaning-toward-burnt crust to shame.
He had even dived into his closet for a button shirt, a deep foresty-jade color that his ex claimed made his eyes look 'more like Citrine, instead of an old sald olive'.
He still wasn't too clear how to feel about that, but he liked the shirt.
"Hello? Zee?" He called, as he stepped to the open front door and knocked on the frame.
He had no idea what he was in for with the guest list.

"Depends on how much s**t you unpack!" Noah shouted in response at the top of his lungs, and gave a quick salute as Ellie and Annie let themselves in through the open door.
Though his face looked serious. So very serious. He was cooking and it was serious business he needed to get down to.
Zia just rolled her eyes and looked over at the silver haired girl Ellie had brought along, sizing her up and shrugging. She heard Falco at the door, probably too chicken to bust his way in without permission like the girls had been, but she couldn't go greet him until she managed out one comment about Annie's presence. To Ellie.
"I'm really glad that even in these hard times you found a mate as big and hairy as you, Sasquatch. You deserve nothing less."
And then she fled. Unfortunately the door way was just a short distance across the living room so she didn't have very much distance between them to grab the poor blonde as a buffer. "Falco! Babe! You made it! What'd you bring? Hey, stand over here," She said, pulling him in as she grabbed his arm and kept him exactly one half step in front of her as a meat shield in case either larger girl felt like retribution.

Lily was happy for a Thanksgiving invite and more than happy to help Noah unpack though of course she was more interesting in seeing Zia whom she hadn't seen in what felt like forever, it always felt like forever.
Xander didn't really see any reason not to come or to help, and Lily would have drag him anyway. Their parents we're and England, unable to get away for Thanksgiving and Christmas so they chose the latter and Xander understood that.
The pair stopped at the open door, Xander's arms laden with banana pudding, which he'd mostly watched his sister make, and a case of cokes, but the door was open they could see in so Lily pranced right in with a bright grin on her face.
"Zia," she said wanting to pounce on her friend, but instead grinning and asking, "where do the coats go?"
Xander walked in gave Zia a nod, "Hi, thanks for the invitation. I hope you have been well," before heading for the kitchen hoping to find a place to put stuff down, politely greeting everyone as he passed.

"I b... hey!" Whatever he'd expected, he thought belatedly, he probably should have also expected to be directed around like a stage prop by the whirlwind personality that was Zia Connoly. "I brought pecan pie." He finished, holding it aloft in an offer to appease the others. The blond girl looked vaguely familiar, and he thought maybe he'd seen her at a gathering once...It had been a bit though, maybe it was just the rainbow headband that was making her seem familiar. It couldn't be the only rainbow hair accessory in DC. "Are you going to introduce me to people or am I just here to be the human sacrifice?"

There was a brief grin upon Ellie's face as Annie naively (or less than naively) insulted Zia as well. However, the grin didn't last too long considering how the lilac haired girl implied something obnoxious. "F*ck off, b*tch-face!" She didn't care who heard. At least she had sense enough to not storm towards the door and slam a fist in Zia's smug little face.
The manx cat let out a sort of quiet sigh before attempting to wriggle out of Anemone's arms. There were too many amazing scents in this kitchen for the cat to decide to just sit around and wait for food to be served.
With the less pleasant expression on her face thanks to Zia, Ellie kind of slid into the kitchen-zone, somewhat ignorant of the potential stress that Noah might being going through.
"...Yeah... whatever... anyways... Annie's a roommate, but she don't speak much English... first Thanksgivin'... all that jazz..."
With a subtle puff of air blown at her own bangs, she mentioned "...With all that braggin'... yer food better be amazin'..."

Zia stopped as Lily grabbed her attention. "Coats...?" She stopped and looked around. More stuff was in boxes than not, and the wood floors and clean white walls were bare. The only corner of the large house that looked even remotely homey and lived in was the kitchen were Zia had already been cursed and banned from.
"Just wherever," She quipped, grabbing Lily's coat and tossing it over the back of the sofa.
There was no formal greeting or polite pleasantries. They were just expected to know their presence was appreciated from the smiles and blatant gestures of familiarity.
"I'm not sacrificing you, drama queen," She said wit ha dramatic eye roll as her arm tightened around Falco. "Okay, fine, intro then. This is Lily, Xander, Sasquatch, Hairbeast, their cat, and the prima donna in the kitchen is my brother, Noah."
She ducked down behind his shoulder as an old dish rag flew by from the cut away.
"Shut up, Zee," Noah called from his staked out little kingdom. Lily and Xander were greeted with enthusiastic waves, and Falco with more of a narrow eye, suspicious stare. "He looks familiar. Zia, your deadbeat boyfriends are not going to ruin my Thanksgiving."
"He used to be one of daddy's racers you a*****e," Zia picked up the rag to throw back, but paused as she was met with the debate of a lifetime. As much as she wanted to hit Noah back with it... the food was in there... and it was too precious to be killed as a casualty of war.
"Whatever. Racer boy, Xander, food goes here," Noah said with ah authoritative point. And then Ellie's invasion was finally addressed.
"It is. It is so amazing your head will explode now get the ******** out of the kitchen it's not time to eat yet." The wooden spoon he had been using to saute green onion florets was suddenly pointed at the blonde in a very awkwardly threatening manner. At least for a man in an apron holding a spoon.

"Fine, using me as a shield! I'm not that oblivious, thanks!" He might have just been a hair touchy about any conversation that made him feel as though his intelligence were in question... "AND I am neither a deadbeat or her boyfriend!" he added, which made him wonder after that knight from the circus. Luxor or something. The one whose name made him think of a Vegas Hotel. Racer Boy... he almost corrected that too, but decided that was into the real of being TOO damn contrary. Appeal Sorry if anyone got flagged more than once. I was having massive coding failure. Anemone let ********* go with a bit of a pout, watching the feline wiggle off into the distance before her attention fell back to the humans. Ellie just looked pissed off and that expression reflected across Annie's face as she thought that was the proper emotion here. She didn't know she was being insulted and perhaps that was a good thing because she might have made this a rear Thanksgiving by getting down and dirty with Zia.
"Sup?" She asked, looking at what Noah was doing with curiosity.
