STAGE: Drakeinian BREED: Gaili BONDED: Feral LVL: 58 EXP: 50/58
LP: 690 ENG: 670
INT: 74 ATK: 73 DEF: 78 LUK: 38 LUK EXP: 2/3~~~ Step 1: Capture Win: 50-100 (-5 for Drakeins, -10 for Vlidean demerit, +20 for trying to capture this creature five times before, +20 from Khehorian Attack) 25-100 Rolled: 32 Outcome: Success! Words: 976It was only after he'd returned home that Sam had realized he wasn't quite ready to settle down with his clan and his son. His clan-mates had been wide-eyed with glee when Sam returned from his ritual a Drakeinian, and the talk of him being the clan's leader had spread rapidly. Yes, Sam had agreed... But he suddenly felt like it was tying him down. He'd hastily left Carrion in Levi's claws and departed for Serenia. If anything, he still wanted to be successful in his latest taming endeavor before he became permanently rooted to Eowyn. He hated the thought of leaving it undone. Since he'd had the most luck on the green continent of Serenia, this seemed the best place to start. He landed in the clearing where he'd met the young Orderite Sueno and they'd captured a Vlidean together. He doubted he'd find another here, but maybe they weren't too far off. He strolled through the trees, acclimating his two-legged body to walking along the tree roots without falling over. Yes, it sounded easy in theory, but the Gaili found himself staggering and stumbling about far more often that any two-legger he'd ever met...

After catching Fluff, Ismene was determined to catch another animal. She wanted to be a great war planed, but she also wanted to be a tamer. She would tame as many animals as she could, though her next animal wouldn't be something as simple as a Uruu. No she wanted to go big or go home, she was convinced that she wanted a Vlidean. They were amazing to look at, and if she could tame one that would be just amazing! However before she could tame one herself she needed to watch them, see how they worked.
She walked around quietly, trying to find where they were most likely to be. After a little Ismene spotted a man that seemed to be walking funny. Was he hurt? He also looked like someone she had never seen before. She was sure that she shouldn't talk to someone she didn't know, but she was curious. And Ismene's curiosity always won.
"Hello, are you okay?" Ismene said as she walked into view of Samael.

Sam's gaze whirled to the side as he heard approaching footsteps, sending a wave of platinum blonde hair swirling over his shoulder. He blinked emerald orbs in surprise at the sight of a little Orderite girl drawing nearer. The Drakeinian couldn't help the way a smile tugged at his lips at the sight. He always seemed to run into little blond Orderite girls, like that was all that populated this sunny continent. And they were always completely fearless as well... He shook his head, still grinning faintly. "Yes, I'm alright." Sam replied with a chuckle, placing a steadying hand against a tree trunk so he wouldn't crash face-first into the dirt in front of this little one. Talk about ruination of a good image... Ah, but if she was this deep into the woods, maybe she'd already seen what he'd come out here for. The Gaili hadn't had much luck finding a Vlidean's nest, and, despite the awful screeches they made, the forest was completely devoid of those harsh sounds. The tip of his tail flicked in curiosity. Even if she hadn't seen them, she still lived on this land, so maybe she'd know where he could find one... "Ah, my name is Sam, and I'm looking for this really loud and obnoxious bird-creature that might live around here..." He explained, not entirely sure how much she'd know of the Vlideans.

Ismene raised one eyebrow. He said he was alright, but he didn't look like he was alright. The fact that he put his hand on the tree to steady himself just made it seem as if he really wasn't okay. "Are you sure? You don't seem all that steady on your feet?" she commented with a shrug.
When he introduced himself and asked about what she assumed to be the Vlideans she smiled. "You mean a Vlidean? I'm out here looking for them myself. From the maps that I've studied there should be a few nests around here. Oh, and my name is Ismene." she said with a nod of her head. "If you want, we can look together? I think I might be able to move and climb trees faster than you can to try and find them." she offered happily. This was her second time trying to catch a Vlidean, and once again she had someone to help her! Or at least she hoped he would help her.

Sam chuckled as he smiled at her, all glinting green eyes and pointed teeth of death. "Walking is taking some getting used to..." He admitted with a shrug. His tail swished behind him in his amusement as he let his hand slip away from the tree. He really must've looked strange if she was so adamantly concerned that he was alright... How did normal two-leggers go about presenting themselves? Maybe he should just fly. That would be easier on him, at least. Sam beamed at her suggestion. The last time he'd had help taming, he'd actually been successful. That seemed like forever ago now, of course... And the fact that she did seem to know a bit about the Vlidean's nesting grounds would be useful. "Sure!" He agreed brightly. "I can use all the help I can get." He looked around up in the trees, fluttering his wings slightly. "I'm not really sure they're around here, though... Surely we'd hear them if they were... Let's try a little farther away. Whaddya think?"

Taking some use to? What did he normally do? Who didn't know how to walk? "Um, sure I guess." she said with a shrug, honestly it wasn't any of her businesses. If he was going to help her catch a Vlidean than he was good as far as she was concerned. She would be a little careful of course, but she was sure if anything she could out run him since he was stumbling so much. He could barely even stand, there is no way he could tun after her. When he said that he could use all the help that he could get she nodded knowingly. Oh she knew that he needed help, but she needed it too.
"Yes, I don't think they are that close to where we are now either. We would have to go deeper in maybe? Should we fly there?" she suggested. She couldn't fly for that long, it was more like gliding, but they didn't need to go that far. Plus she wasn't sure that he could walk there.

Deeper into the forest, hm? The Vlideans that lived near his mountainous home preferred to make their nests in the cliffs, so Sam had assumed that all of those particular beasts would prefer the open air and freedom that a dense forest could never provide. But maybe here on Serenia, the obnoxious creatures actually enjoyed the cool shade and calm peace that such a location could offer them. The Gaili nodded. "Alright, let's give it a shot!" He agreed. Flying would be easier on him, anyway. He glanced at the girl. She was still pretty young, and her wings were rather small. He'd be surprised if she could fly anywhere. "Erm, do you want me to give you a lift?" He asked awkwardly. Ah, but she already thought there was something wrong with him, anyway. So, she'd probably never accept help from him. Unfurling his wings, he flapped them a few times to pick himself up from the ground. With all these trees around, he certainly wouldn't be able to get too far off the ground... Nonetheless, he felt the need to prove that he was perfectly capable of sustained flight, and that there was absolutely nothing wrong with him except for being a bit new to being a two-legger!

So, Sam flew with all deliberate speed in the direction the girl had pointed. She was an Orderite, all winged and such, so surely she could keep up. But when he landed, he found that she was... nowhere in sight. Oops. He considered going back for her, but then a screech from the trees caught his attention. He looked up and spotted the sparkling blue feathers of... a vlidean! It ruffled its feathers and chirped curiously at him.
Sam grinned. Just what he'd been looking for! Ismene would have to wait until later... He gave himself a wriggle then kicked up toward the branches, reaching his arms out to snag the creature. It instantly shrieked and battered him with its claws until he released it. The tiny creature tumbled to the ground with an annoyed hiss. As it prepared to scream at him again, Sam twisted his arms to summon the earth around the bird, twisting it into a cage to capture it without a second thought.

Step 2: Taming Win: 50-100 (-5 for Drakeins, -10 for Vlidean demerit, +20 for trying to capture this creature five times before) 45-100 Rolled: 75 Outcome: Success! Words: 425
Now that he had the little beast captured, what was he supposed to do with it...? He had to make it trust him somehow... Maybe he'd start with a name. Giving it something to respond to seemed like a good way to start, even if it ended up strongly disappointing him, later. Sam clucked his tongue and gazed down at the little beast, hissing and scratching at the ground around the earthen bars of his enclosure. "I'm not very good with names..." He admitted to the little beast. "But... How about Azure... Because your feathers are blue?" He offered. He was pretty sure the little Vlidean just glowered angrily at him, but since it didn't offer any better ideas, and Sam didn't have any of his own, Sam shrugged. "That'll just have to do, then."
Using his magic, Sam shrunk the cage so that the vlidean just barely fit inside. He made sure the bottom was intact, then lifted it just off the ground. He needed to get this youngling away before its mother came round. The Gaili fanned his wings and pushed into the air, just barely. He stuck close to the ground, and fluttered above it, coaxing his cage to follow him along. He'd find a niche to hole up in. Maybe a nice tangle of tree roots that he could easily block off to keep the vlidean inside...
He glided as far away as he possibly could, while still being in the safety of the forest. His little cage followed him all the way. The bird hiss and screamed and spat at first, but as the time wore on, it seemed more curious than anything. So when Sam found an upright hollowed tree, he stopped, coaxed the cage inside and then followed after it. The space was a little cramped for his size, but that didn't stop him from sealing it up and letting his cage dissolve. The vlidean scowled at him and snapped at him a bit, but it was small enough that Sam could fend off any advances it made.
It was on the very loud offensive for a while, but it exhausted itself quickly enough, and soon Sam was offering it a small dead rodent that had failed to escape when he made this place his nest. The vlidean chirped, huffed, and ruffled its feathers. Slowly, it approached, and it snapped the morsel up in its beak. The Gaili grinned and reached out to touch the soft feathers along its head. Maybe this time... He could make it work.

Azure was slow to express any degree of affection. She cried at night, all night, and Sam was only thankful his earthen enclosure kept anyone else from hearing it, even if it kept him perpetually awake. When he roused enough to realize that it was silent, he'd feed her a treat, hoping that she'd understand quickly that he preferred her silence. It wasn't quick. But she started to get the message after several days. And she was lucky for it. Sam was on the brink of slaying her. But the treats seemed to be getting to her, and slowly the slunk a little closer to him each night, until she curled between his legs. She started to allow Sam to groom her long blue feathers, and he even found that if he opened the pen, she'd stay near him, knowing that he could provide food for her. Despite this, he still kept a close eye on her, and never left it open at night.
As the days wore on, she grew in size. She responded eagerly to her name, and slowly Sam was able to wean her off the treats. She did seem to put on weight rather nicely... So it was high time she learned to hunt without him! She already pounced on his fingers if he rummaged them beneath piles of leaves... She purred and cooed and rubbed against him, like a wonderful little pet. He took her out, and showed the lovely vlidean how to hunt on her own. Sam knew she enjoyed meat, but if she was hungry, she went after much easier prey: the fruit in the trees. Sam could only shrug. As long as she could effectively feed herself, it didn't matter to him how she got it.
He'd managed to train her from chattering, though she still displayed agitation when she was around someone she didn't know. But it was clear to him that Azure was more intelligent than any vlidean he'd train to train so far! Teaching her to deliver messages should be a breeze!
