General debriefing: With the holiday season fast approaching, the division leaders have a very important tasks for hunters willing to step up to the challenge: brave the holiday season crowds and get some things for them. In addition, hunters are also tasked with escorting a golem fashioned after the division leader they're shopping for. Hunters will then task this golem with trying on clothes to ensure a good fit.
Mission Budget: Hunters will be issued a prepaid debit card to use. All unspent funds will be returned to Deus Ex. Any additional clothes a hunter purchases for either their division lead or themselves will come out of their own pocket.
* E class difficulty level (anyone may attempt; all hunters regardless of rank will be monitored])

MECHANICS

* MECHANICS:
- As you enter to pick up the mission, the Hunter at the lighthouse portal stops you. "Sorry, we're doing luck of the draw here." He points to a six-sided dice. A literal, six sided dungeons and dragons dice that they probably stole from Mark.
- RP rolling the dice for luck. There is an actual IC list of what the dices match up to:
1 = Allan, 2 = Aria, 3= Caelius, 4 = H, 5 = Edith, 6 = you choose, lucky you.
- After you take the gamble, the Hunter on portal duty will activate a princess golem and a shopping list. The princess golem is because the division leads hate mistakes, so any clothing you get for them better be a perfect fit and match. Once there, your hunter (and golem) will be dropped off at a mall. Roll 5d20 to determine what shops you get (see below). Visit the online site/catalogue of these sites to do your shopping, and try to get stuff which you think best matches who you have to shop for.
- Remember to refer to the request list to ensure that you're getting everything you need for that person
- If you go with more than one person, each person needs a golem (duplicates are up to you, otherwise you may reroll if you feel the RP would benefit better from different golems). Every golem will come with a separate budget. The only thing you and your group will share are the stores you get.
- * Golem Reactions: Occasionally the golem will spout a random phrase, as well as react positively/negatively to what you have selected. See list of predisposed dialogue, which you can use further down. All golems use the same dialogue, they are princess golems after all!

Budget*
- Using the stores you rolled for below, you must try to get all the items while staying in budget. Budget will depend on the golem; each golem has a different prepaid card/budget amount. Simply browse the online catalogs provided, or improvise with items you think could be found in those stores. If you don't, any additional items must come out of your own paycheck, ouch. Good luck getting something as close as possible to the contents on the list (if you can't find anything, improvise!). Also the lighthouse sentries aren't letting you back until you actually fulfill the list, out of respect and a healthy dose of fear.
- You can buy more than one item from the store.
- You can buy your own hunter additional items or purchase additional items for the lead golems out of pocket. Who knows? It might pay off in the long run...

Golem phrases:
Roll when entering a store/trying on a new piece of clothing. Improvise when needed, ie "I'm not wearing that" when entering a store can be tweaked to "I'm not wearing anything from here."

  1. "Not bad."
Effect: Golem approves of your choice.
  2. "We're not going in there."
    Effect: Reroll a store.
  3. "I'm not wearing that."
    Effect: Pick a new item.
  4. "My star barrettes are fabulous!"
    Effect: None.
  5. "I want that one instead."
Effect: Look at the item you're viewing on the page. Move two items left. Your golem wants that item instead.
  6. "Let's go over here!"
Effect: Your golem drags you to another store. Reroll if entering, roll again if you just purchased something.
  7. "Wait. I forgot something! We're going back."
Effect: Return to a previous store. If you get this on the first roll, visit the first store twice. Due to a very fussy golem, if you receive this three times you can ignore it from the fourth roll onward. The golem will be very sulky afterwards and may act like a giant wo/man-child but hey, thems the lil breaks. You also don't need to roll again, provided you haven't bought nothing yet.
  8. "Let's take a break. My treat."
Effect: "My treat" is a filthy lie. You spend 15 min at a cafe being watched uncomfortably by the golem as it attempts small chatter. Lose -$5 from your paycheck. At least the golem didn't blow its own cover by trying to eat something. If entering a store, you're pulled away before you can go in. If purchasing something, you're dragged to one immediately after.
  9. "Aren't you missing something?"
Effect: Lose something you've purchased. If you've purchased nothing, you lose the list.
  10. "Hey, nice job!"
Effect: The golem is pretty happy.
  11. "...You're joking."
    Effect: The golem is sulking.
  12. "Does this make my butt look big?"
Effect: The golem is insecure and is looking for a compliment.
  13. "So, what are your plans?"
Effect: Is the golem attempting to hit on you, or is it sincerely asking you what you want to do as a hunter?!
  14. "Can you suggest something for me?"
Effect: Pick something out. Roll 1d4. Even, the golem is happy and accepts the suggestion. Buy it. Odd, the golem rejects it.
  15. "What do you think of this?"
Effect: The golem randomly picks something out. Roll 1d4. Even, the golem is happy and buys it. Odd, the golem looks disappointed and puts it back.
  16. "Hey. You try this on too."
Effect: The golem forces you to wear the latest outfit/clothing item you purchased.
  17. "You should change your outfit too."
Effect: The golem forces you into purchasing a whole new outfit and wear it for the duration of the mission.
  18. "ERROR QUERY: LOCATION? INPUT NEEDED."
Effect: The golem looks at you blankly as shoppers around at you give you an odd look as they begin to whisper among themselves. Choose a store, any store.
  19. "..."
Effect: The golem is giving you a heavy, cold stare. You feel shamed.
  20. "I want two of these."
Effect: Double the next item on the list, ie you need two now.

* 3 mission reward points for completing this successfully. If you do not get all of the items, 1 mission reward point + look of pity from the Lighthouse Hunters, plus three days of toilet cleaning.

In addition, for going on this mission you may also choose to shop FOR YOURSELF and update your hunter's wardrobe/things. It'll come out of your own pay check however.

If you lose the list: -$25 is deducted from your paycheck before a Hunter pulls you aside and teaches you how to back the list up on your phone. If the list was on your phone to start with, -$200 to purchase a replacement phone.

Tips/Suggestions:

To move at a faster rate, roll 3d20: first roll represents what store you're going into, the second the golem's opinion of the store, and the last is the golem's reaction to buying an item. Not recommended if you're doing it in groups since doing this pretty much means you're soloing the entire time.

Can I choose which store to enter first?
That's fine. Think of the stores you roll = the least crowded. Assume you have only 2 IC hours to do this, so the stores that are open/least crowded = best chance to get everything done.

Can I buy more than one item at a store?
Yes, but be sure to roll a golem response for each item purchased!

It had been at least a day, and hopefully long enough for Jake to be up to such a task. It wouldn't due to have him passing out while they were out and about doing whatever it was this mission consisted of. No, no, that would be terrible. She trusted Jake to be fine… as long as this mission didn’t go to hell somehow. Which it shouldn’t. Mall trips weren’t that bad. That’s what this was, right?

“Jake,” she said, “You ready to give this shopping run a try?” She’d shown up just a few minutes before, stopping by to pick him up, more or less. “Make sure you grab something warm to wear. You never know what the climate will be like.” Sherry’s version of ‘warm’ for this trip consisted of cotton leggings, a simple skirt, and very nice sweater, all under a warm jacket. Boots and scarf were a given. “We’ll head up to the lighthouse as soon as you’re ready.”

She flashed Jake a large smile. This would likely be fun, and Sherry was reminded of her last shopping trip with Jake, last December. Shame he didn’t remember it, but at least he would have something more season fitting to wear this time around.

Jake was already mourning that lost day... or wasted, in his opinion. Damn injuries. And while he was still a bit sore, he did feel a lot better than before. And it was just some sort of shopping trip, or errand run, as he'd call it. Nothing dangerous, no fighting.. it was all good... right?

"As ready as I'll ever be, I suppose."
His idea of "warm" meant a sweater.
Just to be on the safe side, it was a long sweater... hoodie, and he had the daggers and artifact concealed underneath, tucked in his belt. JUST IN CASE.

... perhaps he should also get a coat on this shopping trip.

The walk to the lighthouse was pleasant, even merry, if one dared use that word. Sherry was in a good mood, and Jake seemed to be feeling better, which encouraged the life trainee to have high hopes for this. If things went well, Jake would only be happier. And so would she.

She held his hand all the way to the lighthouse, or for as much of the journey Jake would permit.

As the tech gave them the basic rundown of available options, Sherry did pause to think for a moment. Sure, there was shopping available, but she hadn’t quite realized it would definitely a list for one of the leads. Or that it would come with… a princess golem. For size and such.

“Um…” Sherry looked at Jake for a long moment. They really wanted to do this, right?

She looked back at the portal tech Hunter. He did say they could do their own shopping, too, which Sherry had been hoping for. Hmm.

She thought about it for another heartbeat or two – the portal tech guy was probably getting annoyed—and then she reached for the dice.

She was handed a list, and a golem was pointed in her direction. Well.
She wasn't quite sure how she felt about this. Nope.

Hand-holding was totally fine, or at least, he was fine with it. It was the least he could do after everything she had done for him.

And upon arrival at the portal and told it was "luck of the draw", he grew worried. They would be picked to see if they could do the mission? Given his current streak, he considered himself anything but lucky, but when the tech gestured to a single die...
.. why the heck did that thing look it came out of a board game?

Though when Sherry went first, he almost did a double-take at the Caelius golem. Holy s**t, it was almost like having the real thing with them. How terrifying...

Well, he supposed he should find out which division lead he'd end up getting saddled up with.
... he wasn't sure if he was to be horrified or relieved he ended up getting the sun lead.

Sherry was still busy staring at the Caelius golem when Jake rolled. Really? The Death lead? She had to buy these things on this list for Caelius? Well. At least it was a short list.

Turning, she saw that Jake had rolled Allan. Well! At least He got a chipper sort of person, someone who would likely be happy with whatever they found for him. (Though Sherry hadn’t seen the list Jake was stuck with yet.)

“Okay,” she said, looking at Jake and their golems. “Let’s go.” With a nod to the attendants, Sherry turned to lead her golem through the portal.

--

The mall was large, bright, loud, and crowded. Holiday Shopping was in full swing, complete with Christmas music and decorations. Sherry gave her golem a sidelong glance. She remembered that one time Caelius had shown displeasure about mistletoe. Hopefully the golem wouldn’t mind a few decorations.

“Okay. It’s crowded. Let’s…let’s see what we can get.”

The first store they ended up in front of was...Foot Locker. It wasn't like she had much of a choice about going in, a rather large crowd was kind of pushing at them. So, on hand on her golem's arm, Sherry yelled at Jake. "Going in Foot Locker for a minute!"

She didn't know what she'd find, but she ducked in anyway.

Caelius, perhaps more pleasant as a golem, seemed to like it. In fact, the darn thing picked up a shirt. "I think you should try this on, too."

Sherry stared. "Are you saying you want to try it on?" She...really couldn't tell. Too bad the darn thing was rather insistent. Though, she had to admit, it was a nice shirt. So, after ushering the golem into a dressing room, Sherry slipped into one, too. And tried on that men's shirt.

Sherry rather liked her shirt. Sure, it was a guy's shirt, but whatever. It was nice. And the one she picked for the golem seemed to fit. She was totally going to buy it.

And one for her.
And while she was there...she could do some more shopping for herself. Surely the golem wouldn't get into any trouble while she looked through these pants here.

"What do you think of this?" The golem was holding up something seeming called Hero Pants.

Really?

Sherry hardly had time to react before the golem got a closer look at those Hero Pants. She was surprised at how very disappointed he looked as he put them back, though.

"I'll find you some nice pants in another store. This place....doesn't seem to have the kind of pants I think Caelius...you... normally wear." Not that she really went around looking at Caelius's pants. She really should pay better attention to such things.

"Now hand on just a moment while we check out." That moment was more like several minutes as Sherry looked though a few of the ladies clothes again. She didn't take the time to try anything on, since the golem might get bored and then WHO KNEW what might happen.

You just think it's boring.

Okay. I'll give you the music. But new clothes are not boring. Sherry was actually very, very happy with the few things she found.

Purchases made, bags in hand, Sherry slipped out of the store....and remembered that Jake was somewhere nearby.

Hey! Just left Foot Locker. Where are you? Is your golem helping you shop, too?

She wanted to know if it was just he Caelius golems that offered assistance.

He pitied you, really he did, Sherry. Though, when he ended up receiving the list that he had to complete for Allan, he was beginning to wonder if she had the better end of the deal.
... what the hell was a Kohu??
And it seemed the only sensible thing on the list was a laser pointer, though, from what he knew about the Sun lead, it would probably be used for something insensible... like an imaginary laser beam.

With a sigh, he nodded, and followed Sherry through the portal.

-----------------

Of course, the mall was crowded, as usual, what with the holidays just around the corner.
"Sounds good."
He was about to follow after Sherry, but after a large crowd of people came by, he lost track of her, and caught sight of a jewelry store.
... might as well pick out a gift while he was here.

Stepping into the shop, Jake looked around. Well, it didn't look like she was here, so he was safe. Though, to be honest, he had no idea what she liked. She had that necklace, and she wore several hair clips, so he only assumed that she liked jewelry, at least to some degree. He was about to pick something out when he remembered he wasn't alone. Right.

He turned to look at the golem, already regretting he had gotten Allan. The golem was looking around with rapt interest, and considering he towered over almost everyone, people were starting to stare at him... or was it him that they were staring at? Considering the two of them sported unnaturally vibrant hair, it probably looked like they stepped out of some cosplay convention, or something. Ok, just pick out something for Sherry, and leave before there were more gawkers. He was eyeing a pair of leaf-shaped earrings (Sherry was life division after all). Before he could buy it though, the golem spoke up.

"I want that one instead."

Turning, he saw him pointing at a pair of earrings close to the ones he was looking at.

"You want... earrings?"

Well, uh... ok, if he said so...
... this was coming out of his own pocket money, wasn't it?

With a sigh, he pointed to the pair of earrings, as well the leaf-shaped ones. Oh well, the clerk could just assume they were both for his girlfriend, or something (it was partially true).

As the clerk handed him the bag containing the earrings, Allan suddenly turned to him, eyes wide.
"My star barrettes are fabulous!"
Star... barrettes? Barrettes were like hair clips, right?
He looked at the sun lead's hair, noticing he lacked any sort of hair accessory (aside from gel, but that's not an accessory)

"U-um, ok?"
Well, uh, with that out of the way, he supposed he should find Sherry. Before he could leave, though, he felt his phone buzz.
... or she would find him.

Sherry looked down at her phone. Well, that was....less than helpful. A store. She would...have to find him later, at least before they went home if nothing else.

For now time was ticking away, so she dragged her golem into the nearest store she could maneuver into. And....it was another sportswear store, judging from the first glance. Oh, well then.

The Caelius Golem did not seemed enthused by Sherry's recent store choice. "I'm not wearing anything from here."

"Um. Um. Well. I'd like to look around for a quick second, even if you don't want anything." Not that she needed anything else from the athletic store, but she was still feeling a little bit bad about the golem's earlier disappointment in those pants. He'd almost certainly wanted them for a moment. Though...how close that was to hid model's tastes was debatable.

Still, Sherry decided it might be a good idea to go and see about finding a pair real fast...while they were there anyway.

She found them. Oh, yes. Those Hero Pants. Just...had to pick the right size...it could even be a gift.

"I want two of these." The golem seemed a lot happier all of the sudden. He....really liked these pants, didn't he? Apparently. Oh, dear. Two...of....them.

Sherry looked at the price tag. These coming out of the offered budget, not her paycheck. Two of these things was one hundred whole dollars, and even in her current financial situation, that was a lot of money for something a princess golem didn't seem able to make its mind about. “Okay. We shall get you two of these, but-” Sherry stopped. She had almost given it an ultimatum like best not pick anything else up at random but that was just inviting trouble. “So, just stick by me while we buy them.” That had to be safe.

Moments later, with pants aquired, Sherry and her golem stepped back into the walkway.

Text to Jake
Doing alright? Found anything interesting?

People rushed by, music blared, and the golem sighed.

This is harder than I thought it would be.

She didn't even know where to try and find a couple of the items on her list.
