Waking up had been scary. Though, as he phased or whatever the hell he did down the hallway, because he certainly wasn’t actually walking, he considered the fact that perhaps waking up wasn’t the right term. But it was consideration that he left behind, because he didn’t want to consider it, or the remote possibility that the d-word applied to him, and that somehow dying didn’t mean release but that you were stuck on the god forsaken island forever. No, he didn’t want to think about it at all, or about Rep’s leering face across from him, eyes vacant and hollow but as piercing as always, a haunting stared that had jolted him right out his pod, or rather, backwards out of it, as whatever he was now was not firmly rooted in the he that lay in the pod cold, lifeless and unblinking. Such a rude awakening had been terrifying, and before he knew it he’d stumbled out into the hallway, not at all hindered by walls or doors. The weightlessness should have been freeing, but instead it crushed him like a pile of bricks. “God dammit, ******** it all,” he said to the empty hallway.

Someone was watching Shiloh from the corner. It was hard to explain, as everything turned a little more white and a little more foggy, as actual Hunters moving around seemed more darker shapes inlaid with a strange, smoky blackness, but this shape itself-
- It was very clear and very white. And there was a feeling, a sensation, a sort strange comfort regardless of the situation -
- The figure spotted Shiloh and then quickly turned the corner and disappeared out of line of sight.

Shiloh had already figured out that trying to talk to anyone corporeal was useless and his shouts fell on deaf ears. It was like he didn’t exist. It sucked. A thought had entered his mind too, that he’d crossed into well, some other plane; a plane that he was certain was probably reserved for the things that they hunted. It was a worrisome thought, and one that only grew more so as the world around him shifted, became more vague as the colors dimmed and were replaced with white and fog, making the striking shadows all the more apparent in the haze. But there was one thing that stood out, a figure that seemed to emanate the whiteness itself and Shiloh’s eye was immediately drawn to it, and his heart towards the warmth it gave off, the strange sense of comfort that was all too alluring when he’d woken up in a world frigid and alone. “Hey!” he called, drifting after it. “Wait!”

A few black blurs walked and passed right through Shiloh, the noise distance and vague, just plain background noise, mundane echoes. As he turned the bend, the form seemed for a second to gain more solidarity, shape and colour churning around it-
And then it was just someone standing - mostly white fog - with an even whiter smile. "Oh! You can see me!" It held out a black tray. "Cookie?"

He followed the form, everything else around him seemingly unclear but at least the shadows had no interest in him, whatever they were, passing through him as though he didn’t exist. Shiloh wondered, maybe he didn’t. Then there was someone there, just ahead of him, but he could discern no distinct features beyond a smile so vivid it dimmed everything else. The black tray was pushed towards him, offering him its contents, which were apparently cookies. “A cookie?” he asked, surprised. He didn’t really think – well, it was best not to be rude. Carefully he plucked one from the tray, mirroring the smile with a smaller on of his own. “Uh, thanks… Who are you?” What are you was the real question, but again, considering it was the first ‘being’ to even acknowledge him, he didn't want to piss it off or insult it. He’d done enough of that lately, anyhow, and look where it had landed him. Instead, he bit gently into the cookie.

It's grin grew a little wider as it watched Shiloh eat the cookie. It didn't taste like anything.
"Oh, I'm just here to greet you. It's not just me! We're all curious about you." It pulled at his hands, which were not reduced to think white wisps. "You'll stay with us, right? We've all built a Home here."

Shiloh finished the cookie but it would seem his sense of taste didn't make it into wherever he was. That, or the cookie was simply very bland. But now that he thought about it, he couldn't taste or smell anything. It wasn't like his nose was plugged or anything, the senses just ceased to exist. It concerned him a little, as did the figure's words. "Who's we? There's more of you?" He looked up from its hands on his, everything now white and wispy, and his brow furrowed a little. He looked sad. "But... I don't want to stay here. I don't even know where here is."

"Oh! But we'll have so much fun. It's really not that bad really, I promise!" It continued to pull Shiloh forward, leading with one hand. They moved through more darker shapes and lighter ones - walls perhaps, a floor perhaps. At some point the white grew thicker, heavier, at some point, all Shiloh could hear was a strange voice what whispered and promised him home. He could go home, he could finally take a break, take a rest, he had deserved it.
They walked for a little longer as everything else went quiet. Fog turned to shapes in the distance, silhouettes of children racing, a house that loomed in the distance, white picket fences that warped to strange supernatural coils.
They walked until something loomed in the distance.
"Just a little longer," it promised, hand still tightly holding Shiloh's hand, "Just a little longer."

Shiloh didn’t want to have fun. Well, no, that wasn’t entirely correct, fun would be great. Fun would be fantastic. However, he highly doubted anything that materialized on Deus would lead to fun. But, after all was said and done, it didn’t seem like they were in Kansas on the island anymore. The fog had only grown thicker as the strange figure lead Shiloh along, tugging at his hand. He looked around but there was nothing discernable, nothing concrete. Just the fog that enveloped them, enveloped him whispering sweetly of home, of rest. "Not that bad? Where are we going?" He was skeptical, but there was that allure again, that sense of comfort. There was also his innate sense of curiosity, and the idea that it couldn’t possibly kill the cat twice. Things would be fine, right? The house the loomed ahead didn’t look fine. It looked upside down.

"But-"
- It shrank back a bit. "But I just want new friends."
The fog thickened until there were just the two and nothing in front of them. It sighed. "Next time then. Next time I'll- I'll bring even more cookies! Ill come back for you. I promise!"
The fog cleared and they were gone. Shiloh was back in the Deus hallways again, figures, Hunters passing him by without noticing him. A couple of Hunter passed right through them, snippets of conversation bland. It felt a little colder.

Warm and inviting was exactly that, it embraced him from the cold nothingness that he’d turned into, the sober hues lapping at the edge of his form, as though the clouds of fog were ushering them forward, ushering them home. It was something solid, something to keep him from drifting away and becoming the part of the fog that swirled around his legs. He wouldn’t stay, but a visit would definitely be okay. The house was still upside down, and he knew it wasn’t supposed to be, that houses weren’t supposed to be anything but right sight up but it looked so welcoming that ‘wasn’t supposed to be’s and logic were beginning to matter less and less. Until the shadow blotted the light overhead, landing in front of them and raising its scythe, then the ‘wasn’t supposed to be’s were at the forefront again. Although this time his thoughts dictated more of a ‘didn’t want it to be’ rather than him consulting previous logic. The figure was dark, an uncomfortable contrast to the world around it, and more importantly, it was blocking the house, the house of comfort and warmth and safety. Shiloh instinctively thought to summon Haruko, but the empty silence rang in his head, she wasn’t here. He was the only one here, and these strange figures. He took a step backward, cautious and glanced at the one that had led him here, not really in a mood to poke anymore sleeping bears himself. It would seem the other figure felt the same way, and he stared at it, as the fog closed in around them. Then he was back, alone, the fog giving way to the hallway they’d started in, everything back as they’d started. Shiloh, unused to his new found non-existence, moved to step aside as a pair of hunters headed their way but they passed through him before he’d even managed to do so, and he started a little. It was unnerving. And cold. The house might have been upside down, but at least it had looked warm.

The landscape was shifting however; not the actual landscape but the Hunters milling around, all oblivious that Shiloh even still existed outside of his prison of two. They seemed worried, panicked, several talking amongst themselves, others looking at their cell phones. There was talk now, something about locating the signal and others about shutting off cell phones.
And then a very minor version of non-Shiloh related hell seemed to pass as several Hunters literally skidded and raced down the hallways as a sort of herald to the Death lead that turned the corner, seemed to look right at Shiloh, and then proceeded to walk through him, unnoticing. There was what looked like a giant blue lantern several feet behind him, which was the only way to explain the phenomena.
"We located the captured Hunters Sir, should we shut down?" Two figures now, one addressing his highness.
"No. I want them ******** distracted. Let them think we're playing their game."
"But there are still some Hunters trapped in the arena."
Silence. "And."
"I'll- I'll get to finding the main base of operations." Shiloh didn't need to be spiritual (literally), to sense the tension emanating from the brief exchange. The Death lead waited a moment longer and then began fiddling with his cell phone.

Shiloh watched the commotion, wondering what was going on but powerless to ask, powerless to do anything. Then everyone was scrambling into place, and when Caelius rounded the corner, Shiloh wasn’t at all surprised and fortunately he’d lost the ability to shake in his little duck boots at the sight of the Death lead. It still didn’t make his piercing gaze any less frightening, however, especially when it seemed to be turned directly at him. But then the moment passed and Caelius was walking directly through him instead. Shiloh shuddered. Still, the bustle of earlier had been catching, and ever curious as he listened to the conversation, he forgot about being potentially dead for a moment, trying instead to figure out what was going on. There was definitely something going down but none of it made sense. An arena? Games? It seemed hunters were trapped and ever the hero, Shiloh’s heart jolted a little, wondering if it was anyone he cared about. But then, it didn’t really matter if he cared about them or not, they were his comrades either way. Shiloh hovered around the tense little group, listening. He found himself behind Caelius, and unable to resist, he wrinkled his nose and made a horribly satisfying face at the back of the lead’s head. Then he settled in, standing on tiptoe to peer over Caelius’ shoulder. Perhaps his phone would have clues.

Someone pulled Shiloh, holding onto his head steadily from behind, to prevent him from snooping further. For a second it felt like the fog-covered figure had returned.
But she smiled, all white dress and delicate hands-
- And then wrapped both arms around him, humming a slow lilt. A finger idly played with his hair, preventing him from looking or doing anything else, as another placed a flower on his hair, and then a second.
Caelius lead turned to stare right at the two. Right at the two. "Are you both finished." That was definitely a stellar level of irritation in that tone.
