It was early, and the market was already bustling with activity. Rowan, a basket hooked at her elbow, tripped down the broad street lined with vendors, a smile on her face. As a reward for her hard work, aunt Corwen had rewarded her with some money to spend on a treat for herself. She had, of course, also sent Rowan with a list of necessities she wished the girl to pick up as well. But those could wait, Rowan decided. First, it was time to indulge. And Rowan had not taken long at all to accustom herself to indulge in the finer things life with her aunt had to offer.
She paused at a booth that had fresh fruit and inhaled the fragrant sweetness deeply, then moved on towards another booth that held alchemy ingredients. Nothing terribly fancy, just a variety of dried herbs and roots. And the prices were ridiculous, so Rowan moved on. She passed booths of clothing, running her hands delicately over the fabrics, and finally found herself coming to a halt at a jewelry stall. The pieces were finely wrought, but Rowan could sense an element of magic to some of the pendants, though she wasn't entirely certain what kind of magic it was. She picked up one piece and frowned thoughtfully, the markings on her hands and face flaring slightly when she touched the jewelry.

"What?! Ya be rippin' me off!" There was quite the commotion today at the marketplace as the people of city are shopping to fill their needs. Apparently, that need is not met for Ekundayo as he is busy selling his wares at the different shop vendors to earn his money. "Dis be a highly sought after tome, and ya be payin' me dat much?" "Listen, take it or leave it but you know no one else will pay you that much money." The mage still feels like he's being cheated seeing how his newly sprouted wings fluttered in irritation until he finally sighed. "Fine, I'll take it . . ." He traded in one of his tomes in exchange for a satchel of money which was slipped into his bag. "C'mon Vilzun, we be goin' now . . ." He called out for his Keindred who he noticed that his friend is starting to grow a little bigger before his very eyes . . .
Wandering around, his hollowed eyes spotted a jewelry vendor which made caught his interest as he walked up to it. "Maybe I should be thinkin' of a ring for Esmy . . ." One day he wanted to propose to her when he has the chance as he walked up to see all the gorgeous necklaces, bracelets, and rings. He really doesn't know what sort of ring is her. Is there such a thing of a smart ring? He shook his head of the silliness and looked to his side in seeing a young girl who is also shopping for some jewelry as well. But then, he noticed a subtle glow on the markings on her hands which made his eyes widen. "Ahh, now dat be interestin' . . ." It has intrigued the mage in seeing that sort of magic; intrigued, but he kept the look of concern inside for what she might have gone through.

"Ahh, now dat be interestin' . . ."Rowan heard a voice with an accent that sounded unusual to her, and glanced up to see the man who was standing nearby at the jewelry booth. Her eyes widened, if such a thing was possible for an Oblivionite, at the sight of him. Rowan had never seen another of her race that looked quite like the man. And he seemed to ooze power. She wasn't sure whether she was frightened or awed or a little bit of both. She looked to see what it was that he might be commenting on, thinking that he was perhaps holding an especially powerful or beautiful amulet. But he was not looking at a piece of jewelry, he was looking at her. Rowan swallowed a little "eep" of a sound. Gathering up her courage, she managed to get some words out, though her voice was embarrassingly squeaky. "I'm sorry, sir, whats interesting?"

Whoops, he didn't mean to make her so frightened like that as he saw her hollowed eyes widen before him. Now the man feels bad about it as his stitches stretched into a sheepish grin towards to the young girl. He chuckled softly as he slowly kneel down to be more at here eye level and to lessen the intimidation. "I be sorry miss. Didn't mean to scare ya like dat." The mage apologized while gathering a good look of the markings on her face before he continued. "Hm? I be speakin' of dis . . ." He reached over to grab the necklace that she was touching and let it touch her hand as it glowed once more. "See? Interestin' . . ."
Ekundayo placed the necklace back at it's spot and turned back to the young girl. "Ah, but where be me manners. My name is Ekundayo Okoro. And dis here be . . ." Just as he was about to introduced his Keindred, he found the butter ball chewing up some of the jewelry as if they were candy. His jaw would hit the ground if it weren't for his stitches that's for sure. "Vilzun! What ya be doin?!" Honestly, he never changes at all as he now has to pay for the damaged jewelry and accessories seeing how angry the vendor is with him. He stood up and pay for any damages as he turned his attention back to her once more "Sorry, he be good. Just . . . very hungry." He sighed at the end of his words as he glared down at Vilzun who tries to curl up into a ball in hiding if possible, whining softly.

Rowan frowned as he pointed out the same phenomenon she had just been noticing. She knew her marks grew brighter sometimes, though she had yet to make any sort of correlation between her surroundings or her emotions and the reactions of the markings. "My name is..." She began, planning on introducing herself (he really wasn't as unnerving as his appearance had led her to believe) but then a commotion arose and distracted her. A Keindred appeared to have eaten a goodly amount of the vendors wares, and was now looking rather shamefaced as both Ekundayo and the vendor was yelling at the poor thing. The way her new acquaintance reacted, Rowan could only assume the two were bonded. She had never met a bonded Keindred before. In fact, she had only ever met one Keindred and that was the battered old Toki. she couldn't imagine him being bonded to anyone. "Oh dear." Rowan said, looking at Vilzun who was curled into a little ball. "I certainly hope he doesn't get a stomach ache. I don't imagine eating jewelry can be good for him, can it?"

"Ya be surprised of him . . ." Very, it's like Vilzun's stomach is made of steel really. To this day he will always still be surprised. Ekundayo shouldn't say anymore about him as he saw the Keindred now looking very guilty for what he did; whining a little in hopes to be forgiven for he was just only hungry. He paid for the damages that was caused which left the mage feeling his pockets very light now and it's such a sad feeling. He needed to save up his money for later.
Eku put that behind him now and looked back at the young girl before him to talk about what they were discussing before. "I be sorry 'bout dat . . . why don't we continue speakin' more of dis somewhere if ya want to . . ." That was then he didn't know her name or actually hear it when they were interrupted by Vilzun's antics earlier as his sentence trailed on the last word.
