The courtyard of Lamia Scale. It is always a kind and peaceful place. Perfect for reading or to sit and chill. At times, however, it could prove to be a very important place for guild events.
✧ A trail of smoke entered the guild courtyard and with it, a headband wearing character dashing through it carrying someone else in his arms. All the way through the courtyard, the individual was chanting something over and over again.
"Rescue, rescue, rescue, rescue, rescue, rescue, rescue, rescue, rescue" he chanted as he closed in on the front door of the Lamia Scale guild and, with a front flip, jumped into the doors to open them.
~Valen had been walking around aimlessly as he soon arrived at the Guild he had been searching for not too long ago. He stood at the entrance, glaring at the sky and thinking back on his past. It was weird. The sky was the exact opposite of his past. He closed his eyes trying not to think on it too much. He opened his eyes as he began to walk again, though this time he was looking at the floor. Hundred of thoughts ran through his head, just as fast a his magic reach his targets. A very dark but specific thought stopped dead in his mind as he realized it. He never stopped walking towards the front doors though. His emotionless face not giving off a single vibe. He didn't breath or blink. He was like a dead-man walking. Time seemed to move slower as this memory shattered his will. He dropped to a single knee but didn't let a single tear fall. He got back up and walked to the front door and knocked. As he knocked, the hollowed sound of the door knocked him from his thoughtless daze. He shook his head and decided not to walk through the doors, not waiting a single moment.
➟Toshi exhibited the courtyard and found it to be up to standards. It was spacious and seemed to have a beautiful looking garden. There were flowers of different colors, shapes, and sizes, it was very pleasing in an aesthetic sense. There was also this one tree that provided lots of shade, perfect for Toshi to read a book under. This place was very impressive seeing as a lot of work was put into it. Still something seemed... off. The courtyard was huge, but the only one here that Toshi knew of was... himself. Lamina Scale so far seemed perfect, but with so little members the guild would never be able to keep this place. If he remembered correctly the guild was suppose to take a little jewel here and there from those registered as legal mages under that said guild, but how was a place this grand scraping by with so little members? How was Ray making the necessary jewel required? Maybe it was because of something that had happened recently, just like with Fairy Tail. The wizard got a closer look at the garden. Everything seemed so properly maintained that Toshi assumed there was not just a janitor, but a gardener as well. This is some nice handiwork. The peaceful atmosphere was so great that he felt like taking a nap, but Toshi already had his rest today. "This place is amazing. Ray has done a good job, I would even go as far as to say he were admirable." The teen didn't mind talking to himself, he had done it a lot when he was camping alone in forests. His pockets were filled with a wide array in colored paper sheets so he could execute his magic, when he wasn't using them offensively he was folding them to make origami. This secret skill was something no one knew about Toshi, he had picked it up along his travels. It was a form of art, something he really liked to do, but he didn't do it all the time because he didn't have an endless supply. The only time he would make something was when he had found the inspiration to do so, and Lamina Scale's courtyard garden was definitely his determining factor in using up some of his paper. If he could incorporate this skill into magic then he would be the happiest mage in the world, just thinking of creating Origami Magic made Toshi excited. He believed it to just be a pipe dream however, the very idea of creating a new magic was just silly since he didn't believe he had what it takes. He was jealous of maker wizards because they're true artist, the way they could use magic for creation made him green with envy. While he did respect Paper Magic, it didn't match his surprisingly colorful imagination, deep inside him. Later on he would attempt to copy the garden's flowers using different sheets of paper. Do I have enough paper to make copies of all those flowers? I should probably stock up on some... He stared at the garden memorizing each flower, quietly keeping to himself. Toshi didn't know that Valen had chosen to follow him on his tour.
➟Opening his eyes the mage realized that he had accidentally fallen asleep under the tree from before. He only wanted to take a few moments and see how comfortable of a spot to read it really was, and as expected, it was just as good a spot making enabling him to dose off, I've already rested once today, if I keep this up then my internal clock won't function properly. The wizard took one last look at the flowers before he went back inside to explore the rest of Lamina Scale.
Sonata had left the bar and wondered around the guild hall in search of fellow members. She had thus far come up empty handed as she made her way into the court yard. Smiling softly she roamed around lightly staring at everything before she sank down in front of a tree. Looking up for a moment she lightly shut her eyes and simply breathed in the air letting it's complex taste linger as she tried to relax before resuming her member search.

Elly led Toshi in their search for Sonata out into the courtyard. Toshi had agreed that the two of them could 'try to be friends', this was a positive motion in Elly's quest for friends. The next logical step was to find Sonata, she seemed like a good friend candidate after all. On top of that Sonata had expressed a desire to find other members of Lamia Scale, if Elly could help her by bringing Toshi to her then that would make the trip worthwhile. That thought in mind she quickly glanced over her shoulder to confirm that Toshi had, indeed, followed her out and was reassured to find that he was joining her on her quest. Elly returned her gaze forward and took another bite of her charred apple as she continued her stroll.
The duo of new mages found Sonata sitting under a tree. Elly made her way over with Toshi in tow and squatted down next to Sonata, "Hello again." She paused for a moment as she thought about what to say, staring at the other god slayer with her grey eye like she had a tendency to do when she was thinking. After a brief silence she spoke up once more, "You said you wanted to find other members of Lamia Scale, I have brought you one." She paused to think again, "Also I've decided to make friends. You should be my friend." Direct, just like she'd been with Toshi.
➟Arriving at the same time as Elly, Toshi would notice the female alone in the courtyard. This must be the one who Elly called Sonata. So this is who joined in my absence then? Toshi stared at Sonata curiously as Elly exchanged a few words with the girl. She seemed to already be acquainted with her, but that was to be expected as the god slayer of flames heavily implied they were familiar with each other. Stepping in when Elly mentioned that Sonata wanted to meet other members of Lamia Scale, he introduced himself. "My name is Toshi, I am also new here. It is a pleasure to meet you." Polite and short, Toshi liked his own greeting. Since the courtyard seemed lacking in any other members besides the group, Toshi wondered if they were invading her personal space. Like the way he acted towards Valen, Toshi was cautious of overstepping her personal bounds. He didn't want to bother anyone while they were relaxing on their own. "We aren't intruding too much, I hope?" If Elly was going to be direct with what she wanted then Toshi would try to act as a cushion and aid her with requests of friendship. "You don't have to say yes, but it would be appreciated." It was easy to talk to Sonata about friendship, because for the most part it was for Elly's sake. He was trying to speak on Elly's behalf, just like the time he talked on behalf of Ray in his stead as an ambassador to Valen. "We are all new so I don't think it could hurt, I mean we are in the same guild after all. What is the risk? In the future we could all go on missions together and raise more jewel that way." Thinking on how this may seem to Sonata, it may be a little strange. Elly was direct and Toshi didn't really seem after friends but allies, and together they both didn't seem to share much emotion. Would Sonata be okay with the two? At the moment Toshi was beginning to question whether or not Ray being here could play better then the two alone. From what Toshi had seen, he was a great ambassador, but then again he was a guid leader. The title would imply that he would have to be good with recruiting members, but still it would have been good to have him here for the occasion.
Sonata had her eyes shut and she was peacefully resting when Elly and Toshi showed back up. The moment Elly spoke though her eyes opened and she looked up at the god slayer right as she spoke about how she'd brought Toshi outside just for her. "why hello again Elly, a-also you didn't have to bring a-a member all the way out here just for me." The very minute Toshi showed up Sonata quickly stood up and dusted her clothing off, not wanting to make a terrible impression.
Sonata smiled at Toshi before holding her left hand out instinctively her mind long having grown tired of gaping stares by the makings, granted they exited on both arms but there were far fewer on the left. "it is a pleasure to meet you Toshi, I do hope you wern't imposed upon at all by coming out here to meet me." It would be perfectly clear that she was somewhat unused to such friendly banter. The very moment Elly blurted out something about being friends and Zill followed up Sonata's face lit up with a large smile before she spoke softly. "i'd love to be friends with both of you. I'm afraid i'm limited in what i can offer you though Toshi at the moment in terms of friendship i might be of better use to Elly given our similar magic but until i get some income i'm kinda only good at healing and cooking" It seemed Sonata didn't have much of a problem with Elly's bluntness, and from her remarks it would be clear to someone with a keen enough intellect that she wasn't used to friends and that her magic was to do with healing.

Elly had stood up when Sonata did, watching the younger, taller girl as she spoke. She smiled again at her agreeing to be friends but the smile was gone shortly after it appeared, as her expressions usually were. Elly's eye widened at the mention of being a skilled healer, her interest piqued at that, "You have healing magic too? Does that mean you can....could you....my......." Elly's voice trailed off and here eye that had been glued the entire time to Sonata's face was suddenly looking at her arms, it stayed there a brief moment before flicking back up to her face, the empty grey orb staring back at her once more, "...You can't..." She decided the answer herself, answering in the strangely certain way she tended to.
Elly was like a child in regards to the world. In every way that mattered she'd existed for just over a year and was learning everything as she went. She'd learned that people are put off by scars when she saw how people looked at her face, she'd learned you have to pay for food by accidentally stealing an apple, she'd learned night time was dangerous when she was cornered in a dark alley, she'd learned she had magic when she fought back. She didn't have the twenty or thirty years of experiences she aught to, so she didn't know how to react in most situations, she didn't understand simple things like friendship, she didn't understand people's motivations sometimes....it didn't mean she was stupid though. Elly didn't know a lot but her one eye saw more than most people's 2. Elly wanted Sonata to heal her burns....but if Sonata could heal scars like that she would have healed her own. It was possible she was proud of them but then she would have extended her right hand instead of her left, nobody Elly had ever met shook with their left hand, except Sonata who's right arm was covered in scars. Elly didn't know what to make of the scars and didn't judge sonata for how she handled them....it just meant she couldn't cure Elly's burns.
Elly moved on from the topic of the healing magic to her mention of income, her interest in the healing magic lost with the decision it couldn't help her at the moment, "What does money have to do with friendship?" Elly was almost getting frustrated with her apparent misconceptions about friendship, still, if money was her problem there was a simple solution, "Why not take a job? If you need money then complete a job..." Elly had already completed a job and made her way back, all she'd had to do was burn some guy's lawn down, it was easy enough and made her enough money for the day's work. Elly glances up at Toshi, recalling his mention of working together on future jobs, and then returns her gaze to Sonata, "We don't need to wait till the future, we could take a job together now. Then there'll be enough apples for everyone...." She takes another bite of the apple she'd charred and lets the other two chew on that idea.

➟Right off the bat, Toshi would decide that Sonata should become join the team Elly was forming. She was courteous as her manners did the speaking for her. When she extended her hand he did the same thing, shaking her hand out of polite behavior. This could actually work, this team idea might just pull through after all. Before meeting Sonata, Toshi was a bit skeptical that Elly would be able to recruit another wizard, but after Sonata agreed it pushed his doubts away. Three mages were plenty for starting a good balanced team. "Don't be silly, I wanted to come and greet you. Under normal circumstances I wouldn't, but I am glad that I brought myself to meet another new member." Although he didn't smile he seemed enthusiastic enough by the tone of his voice. It would remain unclear if he was genuinely excited, or doing this just to really sell the friendship. He kept telling himself that he wasn't just doing this to make allies, but also friends if that was what the others wanted from him as a comrade, but deep down it could have meant a lot more. "You don't need to sell yourself short. I'm guessing that all three of us are still novices. It's not like I expect you to be able to take on missions well above the second ranking at the moment. Even so, the power to heal automatically makes you indispensable and great to have on a team. Cooking is also appreciated." After he realized he was still going on about her, thinking it rude of him not to say what he can offer her, he began speaking about himself after a pause in the conversation. Changing the topic to himself, he would talk about himself honestly. "The magic I use isn't the type for "helping" others, but I have a wide range of spells that allow me for some variety." Toshi was subtly implying that his magic was more for offensive purposes, which he hoped wouldn't drive the potential "friend" away. Elly was talking about herself more, saving Toshi the burden of talking too much. The more Toshi studied her mannerisms, the more he was curious about her. Something about her wasn't normal, or rather, mostly everything was abnormal about her. This wasn't bad, but it was the kind of different that would lead Toshi to thousands of formulated questions in his head. "She is right you know, if you are having a financial crisis then a quick job sounds like just the thing for you." Elly seemed to be pushing for the unconfirmed team to take on missions already. It was another thing that he would begin to admire her for. "You are right. We don't have to wait, but only if Sonata is okay with this. We did just meet her after all" his head turned from Elly to Sonata. "I'm all for another mission, but I can't say the same for our new friend here. Forgive me Sonata, things seem to be moving faster than I would have predicted.
Sonata examined Elly and Toshi with curiosity until she heard Elly's words and abruptly her face shifted from excited to a rather emotionless look. Sonata knew why Elly had changed her tone and it bothered her deeply. She hated her scars and the painful memories connected to them, she seldom brought it up on her own accord however she decided Elly should know seeing as how she appeared to be in the same boat. Carefully she extended her right arm showcasing the many jagged lines. "Healing magic is correct, i am the sky god slayer which means i can heal people and gain power from the very air it's self. As for my arm's condition it is not of my own doing, they wounds were caused by a magic nullifying blade. My family always hated me my grandmother gave everyone free reign to torment me. On a family vacation where i stated at her house my cousins held me down and sliced my arms in the right places to kill me just to see my magic work.I couldn't seal the wounds... but i was able to use my magic to force the blood to do what i wanted and keep myself from dying." In speaking Sonata's face remained the same emotionless look, it was hard to tell if the look were to merely hide the pain she felt or if she truly no longer cared. If Elly asked her to Sonata would try healing the burns but it might not be possible depending on what caused them and ho long they'd be there, the older an injury the lower her odd's were of healing.
At Toshi's banter about how she shouldn't be sorry and that he was forcing himself to meet new people Sonata relaxed slightly. Carefully eyeing his appearance and his statements Sonata decided that deep down he must be more of a bookworm who needed some semblance of personal space. "I take it from your statement that your trying to make connections that you prefer personal space at times, if i ever become a bother let me know." Sonata never wanted Toshi to feel forced into anything, she didn't want him being friends with her out of pity or not wanting his feelings to be known for fear of upsetting her.
At Toshi began lecturing her on not selling herself short she sighed, seldom had people told her she was selling herself short, normally it went along the lines of her being a useless waist of space. When he began explaining his skills she was trying to pay attention but got distracted when Elly asked what money had to do with friendship. "Elly money and friendship do hold use to people however explaining the connections might be a bit time consuming." Despite never making friends on her own Sonata knew people made friends based on desired skills, traits, or shared interests; truthfully she'd been trained to view herself as worthless without magic so she often gave up items she'd been given to try earning friends figuring it was the only way she could. When the offer of seeking a job came up she thought about it for a moment and smiled rather wide. "A job sounds great. Also don't worry Toshi i've already ate so i think i can really enjoy putting my skills to use. Sonata was a person who liked to make plans but easily threw them out the window the minute something better or urgent came along.

Elly was surprised to hear that it was, in fact, her God Slaying magic which allowed her to heal. Elly's own magic had no such power, not that she knew of. As Sonata explained it Elly thought she might ask the girl to take a look at her burns anyway but eventually decided against it, it sounded like a pointless endeavor and she didn't want to waste the girl's time. Elly's eye watched her as she spoke though, the face she wore as she spoke of such tragedy. That eye saw....a reflection, or something so similar it couldn't tell the difference. Elly and Sonata seemed to be a lot alike in some ways, at least that's what Elly thought. Elly's face was similarly emotionless as she listened, disgust or sadness might have been the right response, Elly felt neither. Still, by some force of instinct or impulse Elly's hand raised at the story, reaching up and patting the younger girl on the head reassuringly and then moving back to her side as if it had never moved at all.
Sonata explained briefly about money and friendship but Elly had her doubts, after all, "I don't have much money...you don't have much money....we're friends though...you said it yourself...." She pondered on that for a moment before deciding she still had a lot to learn about things. That said the group decided to take a mission together and Elly knew where they had to go for that, "Let's check the mission board then." she said that half to herself and half to them as she began to trod back across the lawn towards the Guild Hall.
➟Toshi looked shocked. He hadn't noticed the scars on Sonata's arms unit she pointed them out for him. Toshi definitely felt like cringing when he had first seen the scars, there seemed to be abundant amount of slices across her right arm. It must have really hurt, he thought. His response wouldn't be aimed towards her magic, not yet anyway. Instead he would address her sad tale that followed the reveal. "I'm sorry to hear that, I can't imagine what it must have been like for you." There was some sympathy in his voice so he genuinely felt sorry for her. It was an awful thing to hear, someone's own family turning against them. It was something you usually never expected to happen, the closest people to you stabbing you in the back. The wizard couldn't even begin to think of a sibling or parent, even cousin, that would do something like that to him. The pain would probably be unbearable, Toshi imagined. "In the end you are better off without them, at least here you can feel appreciated. I can't think of such cruel acts being done here so you should feel safe." Toshi had hoped his encouraging words of optimism would try and ease the mood, and make Sonata feel a little better, if it hurt to talk about her past that is. One thing the paper mage did not want was for his feelings to be taken for granted, they were revealed on such rare occasion after all. Just making Sonata feel a little more welcome, especially after her sad story, was all that he would need. From what he could gather, he would feel as though he needs to be a little more sensitive towards Sonata. It was out of pity, but he saw nothing wrong with that. So for the first time I get to encounter a god slayer, and not too long before meeting a dragon slayer as well. I guess I guess I just have a habit for coming across rare specimen. Feeling a little more at ease himself, Toshi grew to like Sonata just a bit more now. She was able to see how he functioned and respected his space. She was going to work well as an ally, and Toshi was sure that she would make a good friend when the time was right. "Thank you, I do like my space. Keeping my distance is just something I do often, but let me know if you feel the same. To be honest both of you seem interesting enough, I don't think I will be driving you two away as much." The wizard was trying to say, in his own words, he would tolerate the two females. "I am glad that we are all going on a mission together. Let's make this a successful mission, it will be our first one as a team after all. And I guess... friends as well?" Watching Elly hurry off towards the mission board, Toshi began following her expecting Sonata to do the same.
Sonata was somewhat shocked when Toshi had the shocked look on his face, she would've thought that he'd have noticed her predominate feature right off the bat. Other than the fact she was fairly tall for a female there wasn't much else that could be said for the girls looks other than her scars. She felt Elly pat her on the head as Toshi spoke. "there is no need to be sorry since birth i've lived with the fact i was not welcome in my family." Sonata spoke calmly trying to put things into perspective for Toshi. She knew what her family did to her was to some extent wrong but having grown up with it she figured she either deserved it or it was just a fact of life. She didn't feel a need for his concern, pity was an emotion people didn't tend to show her so she had no idea that might have influenced his statments at all.
Whn Toshi informed her she was better off here than at her families Sonata felt the need to educate him on why she was here. "I left home because i got violently ill from using to much magic one day and when my grandmother who was sick came for my help i couldn't help her so she made things harder on me before she died and i got blamed for it and pretty much my options were to leave or stay and be complained at." Sonata left because of all the unneeded stress her family had been placing on her all because her cousins used her magic to make extra money to the point she got ill and couldn't do anything. At Elly mentioning how neither of the females had money but were friends Sonata smiled then heard both her and Toshi talk about taking a job. "your right, but lets make this mission a success."
