The earlier and earlier sunsets, once something he actually enjoyed, were throwing his already odd and difficult schedule off. It used to be pleasant, during school, because it meant he'd get to see and enjoy the sun on his way between training and the the gym. Now it made him question if he was late, or shouldn't he already be out working on his quotas, or looking for senshi, or training more, better, harder to prepare for when he at last earned a real weapon for the real war.

But he wasn't late, a quick check at his watch informed him. He was running a little early, actually, pace quickened by his near constant efforts. He'd be early home at this rate from the gym and his run. I don't feel ready to face the evening, really. I'd rather do something...constructive. Not hunting, or harvesting. Just...building or ...learning. Or being with friends.

Not many of those with Colin gone. He'd never tried getting a hold of Harmony for just friendly hanging out. It could be a possibility? Or he could stop by her coffee shop, maybe. There was also the need for apartment seraching, equally dismal done alone. Björn paused near some trees and a bright light on his way along the park running path, re-adjusting the strap of his messenger bag where it was bunching his HeatGear compression longsleeve in weird ways.

Pomona was only just beginning her patrol, scuttling through the park at a half-hurried pace. There was no obvious problems, and unless she spied a token from a civilian contact, she didn’t intend to stay longer than necessary. There were places she hadn’t checked in a while, and if it was a slow night then she would try to pass by them all. Of course, it was just as she was thinking that she caught sight of a figure. It had been a while since she’d seen him, but he was a difficult one to forget. He was very musc- memorable. Very memorable.

Grinning, Pomona sped up from a fast walk to a jog, grasping her lopsided skirt as she moved.

“ Hey! Hey, um-” What was his name, whatwashisname, “ – Bjorn! Hello. It’s been a while.”

Björn heard the sound of heels first, worried of the speedy cadence and looked around himself in case there was someone in need of help- exactly what
that was, he wasn't sure. If it was one of his fellows just harvesting, he couldn't exactly step in, and if it was a Youma?

Well.

He didn't like the idea of leaving someone to die to one, even if they were equally servants in some capability to the Kingdom he served. He could try to tame such a creature to just energy, maybe, and leaving the poor person's starseed. Dark thoughts, all told, comparatively to the bright flashes of flame colours and white that came into view. Björn visibly relaxed, even smiled wide, "Lady Pomona! It has been a time."

"I am glad you still are about the city. I've looked for you, but it is a big place with many people. Not so easy for just two of tens of thousands to find. I worried maybe the war had taken you."

“ Nope, I’m still alive and kicking, thank goodness. And you too! I’m finding more and more civilians getting caught in the crossfire, so I’m glad you’re okay.”

And in possession of all his hair. Unlike that poor guy her evil-clone had given a haircut to via fire. Speaking of…

“ Oh, oh, I can breathe fire now!” She said gleefully, clapping her hands. “ Very useful for staying warm. And making s’mores.”

She remembered Bjorn had asked in their previous encounter if she could, but at the time she was still a Super and limited to her pepper attacks. She found it amusing that the ability he’d asked about was the exact one she’d gained upon reaching Eternal, and figured he might be interested.

“ So, you were looking for me? Did you want to ask the Wizard of Oz some questions, or take a trip off-world?”

Björn's mouth broke into a smile at her news- the listed uses were so normal, so domestic. "I don't think I believed that real magic could be so ....plain anymore. "

"I am glad that there is someone who wields it that can say such things. Maybe even does them. S'mores..."

"Maybe you are the exact opposite of blowing out a birthday cake then, ja?" He rested a hand on his hip, adjusting his messenger bag again. "The true was, I was hoping to take you up on your offer. To see your home. I did talk to Aegir about it, but I haven't seen him in a very long time either. ...but he had thought it was a good idea. Maybe someday he will find you himself. "

"I'm not sure I could handle questions AND other worlds. So I'd settle for the latter. If you have any spare brains, though, I would not complain."
PostPosted: Sun Nov 24, 2013 11:23 pm

“ I made s’mores for an enemy once, and not a single punch was thrown that night.” It had been surreal and awkward at the time, but it was better than fighting, and looking back she was kinda proud of it. “ Who knows, maybe s’mores are the answer for world peace. Sure beats the alternative.”

Breathing fire on s’mores was one thing, but the idea of breathing fire on humans was disturbing at best.

“ I don’t have any spare brains handy, but I can arrange a field trip. We’ll need water though. Happen to have water or money in there?” She asked, nodding to his bag.

"Oh, " well that was fast, sudden and simple. "Ah, both, I think."

He opened his messenger bag and double checked to be absolutely certain. "Bottled water, matches, a national geographic, a packet of tissues, snacks, a plastic grocery bag knotted to keep it small...needful things. "

"But yes, water and I have some money, if we need to buy something? How do we prepare for space travel?"
PostPosted: Mon Nov 25, 2013 9:36 pm

“ Water is the only thing we really need for a short trip. Most of the important stuff can be seen in an hour or two. The ruined biodome is the furthest out, so if you want to see it and sunburn easy you might want sunscreen.”

Pomona waved a hand and summoned her little red cellphone.

“ Otherwise I’m ready to leave whenever you are!”

If they were going on extensive trip like Pomona’s previous little research mission then they would’ve needed much more extensive supplies, but Pomona figured surely her planet wouldn’t manage to kill them in three or four hours. Bjorn was tough and Pomona was wising up to her planet’s pitfalls.

"Is it a desert? Or a very difficult place?" She was mentioning sunburn as a facet of only a few hours, and like hours was difficult or challenging. A hostile landscape didn't fit with his conception of a place that had a sheriff more than a Lady, but then....maybe if the place was very hostile that was why the people of the place hadn't had much energy for strife with each other?

He didn't know.

"I don't have sunscreen this time of year, I'm afraid." He double checked, though, just in case, pawing his big hand over a few things in the bag. "Will it be day there? Is it always day there?"

"As to say...I am as ready as I will be, I guess? This shirt is long-sleeved, at least, so it may protect against burning. " His legs were fully covered as well. His face and cheeks weren't much covered, and having Scandinavian heritage in the 100% meant that he might end up with very red cheeks, nose and forehead. A small price, probably for getting to see a whole other world.

“ Not a desert, no. It’s a greenhouse actually; a large, hot, and very humid greenhouse. The heat and humidity make skimp clothes a bonus, but my heritage means I burn.” She, like most of her fair-skinned and freckled kin, tended to do an excellent tomato impression if left in the sun too long, and instead of tanning just sprouted new freckles.

“ Well, I’m sure we can improvise if need be. Brace yourself, space travel can be disorienting if you’re not use to it.”

Pomona gave him a couple of seconds to mentally prepare, then pressed a button on a her phone. With a tug and a whirl, Destiny City faded-

- and a blast of thick, sticky air heralded their arrival on Pomona’s overgrown planet. They stood at dirt crossroads, towering plants crowding in from all sides, four paths wandering away from them and out into the once-tame vegetation.

“ Welcome to Planet Pomona, the largest hothouse in the universe. I think.”

And indeed, if Bjorn looked up to find stars or twin suns, he would instead find something equally odd: across the entirety of the sky stretched a vast, geometric structure. The biodome, wisps of lazy clouds floating along inside, starry sky faintly visible even in daylight on the outside.

He wasn't certain what he expected, but the 'magic' to take them far and beyond, out from the Earth's surface and sky and beyond the Moon to whatever distance beyond the farthest beyond that NASA's astronauts had ever stood, was underwhelming.

She'd done something on her phone, he felt a little ill, and they were someplace else. It smelled different, felt different, looked different. It was like a souped up version of the first time his mother had taken him to visit family overseas, when they'd both stepped out of Stockholm Arlanda Airport and every aspect of life had seemed strange and different. Only there wasn't a plane, there were no stores and there was literally just a beautiful woman in a flamenco dress and himself. He looked along each of the cardinals of the road, then back to Pomona. "It is....certainly hot."

"Is the whole planet covered with a dome?" It was a marvel, for as much of a view as one did get of it beyond the extensive plant life. "It's quiet..."

Also much like a hothouse. Did any animals survive, even if no people did? After living in a giant city, it was notably eerie for there to be such a complete absence of metropolitan white noise and light pollution.

“ Most of it, I think. Judging by the ruined dome next to this one, I don’t think this planet could’ve been settled without building the domes.”

The main sphere was eerily quiet, but it least it had a plethora of plant life. The landscape of the ruined biodome was completely desolate.

“ Well, there’s a couple of hobbit homes – that’s what they remind me of, anyway – that way, but the main town and the royal manor are that way. Which would you rather see?”

"Hobbits....like the movies?" He only had a very, very peripheral knowledge of them from running and seeing the posters and merchandise in stores he'd passed. There were Hobbit movie things out now with vary effects-laden looking posters of short, burly, bearded men here and there.

"They are real? Or...were?"

"Where you short and bearded when you lived here, Lady?"

The differences of dwarves and hobbits were lost on Björn.
"Do you know where you lived? Which way is that?"

" I doubt hobbits are real, but most of the homes here remind me a bit of hobbits. They're built burrowed into hills like hobbit homes, or dug down and covered with dirt and plants where it's not hilly enough."

Pomona wasn't certain, but she assumed that this was because her planet seemed to be lacking air-conditioning technology, so it was cooler to build in the ground.

" Well, I had quarters in the back of the Royal Manor, so let's head there."

She guided him towards the manor, chattering on the way about her unfortunate run-in with what was possibly the one sprinkler still working on the planet.

" - tripped right in front of it and it squirted me in the face! Ah, here, this is Pomonalis, the capital, er, town."

Pomonalis was small. Having only one real street, even in perfect condition it would've seemed childish or toy-like compared to Destiny City, but its slow surrender to nature made it seem more like landscape than a town. Moss and weeds grew amongst the cobblestones, vines had partially engulfed most of the buildings, and one building even had a tree growing through a broken window.

" As far as I can tell, this was mostly built to accommodate the small stream of off-worlders that visited."

She hadn't answered or even acknowledged the question about if she'd been a bearded hobbit woman long ago, which could mean...
only one thing.

IT'S TRUE.

Wrapping his head around that dress and heel's on someone who looked like Richard Armitage eluded his mind's eye capabilities as they walked, and he was pretty certain he was grateful for that.

When they came to the little main-street, the stongman took the little buildings in with brow-furrowed concern. He often felt massively out of place walking through regular Earth life. He was like Paul Bunyan to the overgrown ruins. "What makes you think they were for visitors and not just your people?"

He was honestly curious about the archaeology of the place and how she came to what conclusions she had- the furthest he could have gotten himself would have been 'there were people because there are houses.' This was why he wasn't an archaeologist. Maybe when she wasn't in uniform, Lady Pomona was. Or maybe she was a dancer?
