I should really try harder to make a set lesson plan, Chariklo thought with real amusement as she bounded across the rooftops of Destiny City. But set plans seldom survived first encounters, so what the hell. She'd wing it. Aiming for the park, she hoped that Amytis would already be there. And she hoped that by the end of tonight, Amytis would forgive her for the brutal monster she would have to be for a few hours.
If I am harder and worse than anything else she may come across, the mohawked woman thought, all this will be worth it. For the sake of her family, she'd play the monster. Anything to keep the Dark Mirror Court alive amidst its enemies.
Shuddering slightly, she leapt from the last building she could use and once she landed, raced through the streets until she reached the park. She wanted one of the grottoes further in. Good shelter from prying eyes and far enough from the more populated areas that no one would be likely to hear anything.

Amytis was indeed waiting for Chariklo in the park, since she had almost been late to their first appointment and she was not going to do that again. She looked antsy, worried, because her first battle had nearly been a disaster and the image of Tantalus collapsing under the Shade Queen's relentless assault was burned into her mind. He'd been okay after, but...well. That whole fight could've gone really badly.
So she was eager to train, but also a little scared, because what if she was as incompetent here as she'd been there? She bit the inside of her cheek, and lit up a little when she felt another Dark Mirror energy signature approaching.

Well, well. Amytis had not only beaten her to the park, she'd apparently already been here for a fair bit. Not bad at all. Smiling, Chariklo gave her a wave as she got closer.
It was only when they were within conversation distance that she spoke.
"Evenin', sugar," she drawled. "You got here all right? No problems or interruptions?"
Grinning, she reached out to brush her fingertips against Amytis' hair, marveling once again how much it resembled cotton candy.
"Seriously, tell me how you keep your hair in that style? It's too damn soft to be a metric ton of product. I think I'll be jealous."
It was meaningless small talk, but Chariklo figured such things were good in the long run. Besides, it wasn't as if she had anything heavy to discuss with her teammate. Still, they'd come here for a purpose and it wouldn't help Amytis in the least if Chariklo spent the whole time smart-assing the place up.
"So, where d'you wanna start?"

"Got here just fine!" Amytis replied, and then she flushed a little when Chariklo's fingers brushed her hair. At least she didn't squeak, though; that was something.
"Uhm, kind of a skill," she replied and shrugged. "I've been doing it for years. Also I don't really take it down except for untwisting these," she twirled the longer portion around her finger, "so it's not hard to put it all back together." Meaningless small talk was wonderful and doing a lot to relax her even if she did know they'd be fighting after this; taking the time to explain her hair made things a lot easier as she considered where to actually start with fighting.
"Can we start with just technique stuff? I've never had any kind of formalized lessons, so..."

Technique, huh? Chariklo tapped a finger thoughtfully against her lips as she considered. Not having had formalized lessons didn't really worry her. It wasn't as if she herself had ever been taught anything. Mostly, she'd picked up her own skills on the fly.
"Well", she answered cheerfully. "No previous lessons aren't a bad thing, cutiepants. Means that we don't have to waste time Un-teaching you stuff. Which is no bad place to be, really."
Oh, Amytis was not going to like what was about to happen. But it was for her own good.
With a sad little smile tugging at her lips, Chariklo prepared to become a hard-hearted monster. With luck, the shock of a sudden, direct attack would get Amytis to react and then, Chariklo would have a better idea of where she needed the most work.
Enough, she scolded herself. Waiting for half a breath to calm her own mind, she dove at the other Dark Mirror, hands slashing out to try and catch the other girl's arms.

Amytis brightened. "Oh, that's good!" She said. Not having to unlearn things had to be helpful, since they could skip straight to the actually learning.
She was confused by Chariklo's sudden shift in expression until the other woman launched at her, and she stumbled back, bringing up her leg to knee at her gut. It was an automatic defensive reaction when someone launched at her, especially someone taller, and she really, really hoped it worked.
If this was going to be that kind of training session, she might've come better prepared, but aggressive worked for her.

THough she managed to jerk the majority of her body out of the way of Amytis' knee, Chariklo still felt her gut blossom into fire. Well, so the shorter girl had fair instincts, but that wasn't going to be enough. Dropping to the ground, Chariklo balanced on her hands and swung both legs out in an arc to catch Amytis and knock her off her own feet. If it worked, great. But Chariklo was prepared for success, failure or a mix of both. She was also fully prepared to use her magic as an additional distraction. But not just yet. No, she wanted to get Amytis into a corner somehow... but that would have to wait. Chariklo could be surprisingly patient when it came to fighting.

Amytis spent a little too much time wondering what the hell Chariklo was doing and a little too little time actually getting out of the way. The pink-haired Dark Mirror yelped and flailed a little on her way off her feet and to the ground, kicking desperately and hoping that somehow her foot connected with her target.
"Ow ow ow that hurt," she said, and even her attempts to get off the ground were a little bit flaily and desperate.

Diving at her turtled teammate, Chariklo grunted in pain as one of Amytis' flailing kicks caught her in the hip. However, that didn't stop her from throwing herself on top of the other girl and grabbing for her wrists to pin them down.
If flailing and hoping to connect was the best Amytis could do, Chariklo suspected that this was going to be a very long night.

Amytis growled a little. With Chariklo actually on top of her, she had a better place to aim for, and so she brought up her knee to the other girl's gut, though she held back on force. It would be more like a tap than a knee, really, because she was still too nervous to actually try and hurt the other senshi.
Also Chariklo was really really close and oh lord.

Just barely registering the tap to her stomach, Chariklo kept a firm grip on Amytis's hands with one of her own while the other rested a moment on the other girl's throat and just barely began to squeeze.
"You have to do better than that," Chariklo growled softly. "You can't hold back in a fight and hope the other person will take pity on you."
As she spoke, her grip on Amytis' throat tightened by increments. She wouldn't really hurt the girl or squeeze for much longer, but this was a lesson that needed to be driven home.
"If I were one of the White Moon or a knight or even one of the less friendly Negaverse officers, you'd be badly injured or worse right now. Now, unless you want your pretty little throat crushed, I would suggest you ********' fight back and stop worrying about hurting me."
Maybe the threat would be enough to make the girl act out. Chariklo sure hoped so since she didn't want to have to back down and look like an idiot. That wouldn't help either of them.

Amytis froze when Chariklo's hand wrapped around her throat. The other girl was taller, stringer - scarier, by far. Her eyes were wide, and she felt fear twisting up inside her. This was such a terrible way to die - and even though she intellectually knew that Chariklo wasn't going to kill her because they were on the same side, in the same court, Chari wouldn't do that she couldn't stop the rising panic.
This time, when she brought up her knee, it was with all the force she could manage, driven by instinct and desperation. She had to fight to live, and she didn't have a choice, no matter who she was fighting with. That was obvious to her now.

With a loud Ooof!, Chariklo's grips on both Amytis' neck and wrists were loosened as she instinctively moved to clutch her gut and fall to the side with tears streaming from her eyes. Oh sweet, holy ********, Amytis didn't ******** around when told to actually fight back. And under the pain, she felt a welling up of pride in her team mate. Or that could have just been possible internal injuries. She'd worry about it later.
For now, she was a little more concerned with getting back the breath that had been driven from her body. After a few moments of gasping and trying to force her body out of the fetal position, she lay back on the grass and simply went still.
"Not bad, honey," she croaked. "I think we'll take a little break so I can be sure I don't need a doctor."

Amytis squeaked, sitting up and brushing herself off a little. "Ohmygosh, I'm sorry, are you okay?" She asked. Chariklo trying to choke her was totally forgotten - she was way more concerned that she'd hurt her teammate.
"I, uhm, I didn't mean to hit you that hard," she squeaked, fingers wrapping in her skirt and squeezing a little. She sat back on her heels, totally content to take a break because she needed to be sure Chariklo was okay.

Aiming a light cuff to the aide of Amytis' head, Chariklo sighed and for the most part stayed prone. In a soft voice that didn't require a lot of effort on her part, she scolded the other girl playfully.
"Don't you dare apologize for doin' what I told you to do. You fought back. Just remember if one of the ********' knights or white moon twits is the one layin' on the ground, you finish 'em or hightail your cute li'l a** out of there, mmkay?"
Carefully, she began to lever herself into a sitting position, wincing every few seconds as muscles protested. After a few moments, she sighed softly. Tonight's lesson was over.
"Be a doll and help me up?" she asked, extending a hand to Amytis. "You did good and we'll pick up another time. For now, you won, hooray, holy s**t I need some aspirin and a hot pack."
Now if she could just downplay the injury in Amytis' mind, maybe she could get the other girl to realize just how kick a** that kick had been.
