If there was one thing that Chariklo knew she was pretty damned good at, it was fighting. Her blood sang when she got into a good brawl. Every sense tingled. It was magical. Like Tahiti.

But she was learning that she was good at something even more important than fighting the enemies of the Dark Mirror Court. She seemed to possess a knack for teaching. It was strange, but she was beginning to enjoy it. And more than enjoying it, she was seeing how vital it was to make sure that the greenies being recruited were able to keep themselves alive.

Which brought her mind around to one of the said greenies. With a slightly suffering sigh, Chariklo went to hunt down her fellow Scion. The guy was really way to hot and it wasn't at all fair. But hell, she could manage to avoid staring and drooling for a little while. It would be good for her. Be even better for him if some of the things she'd heard were true.

We're gonna keep you alive and thriving one way or another,, dude, she thought.

Tantalus tried not to patrol alone, these days. Not since one lone patrol had nearly ended with his evil clone murdering him. (It was a very good thing he had Damocles, really.) So really, he was only out by himself because he knew he was meeting someone - specifically Chariklo, who had promised to train him in fighting techniques beyond the basics.

He rather liked her, all things considered - the punky Senshi of Seagulls said what she meant and meant what she said, and her directness was refreshing.

A Dark Mirror signature of the appropriate level to be the person he was looking for drew his attention, and he let out out a sigh of relief when he realized it was, indeed, her, approaching their appointed meeting place on a roof. "Chariklo!" He called, to bring her attention up.

Glancing up, she saw the silouhette she wanted and grinned widely. Backing up a few steps, she raced for the building and jumped, once again marveling at how much she could do when she was Chariklo and not Arilee.

Landing on the roof, she waved cheerfully and allowed just a hint of mischief to keep into her grin.

"Tanty-Pants! I see no one has tried to kill you yet! This is good."

Reaching out to tweak one of his ears playfully, she gave him a wink and then subsided into relative harmlessness. At least for a few minutes. She needed Tantalus to be a shade less twitchy if he was going to absorb any kind of wisdom from her.

Tantalus laughed, which was easy to do a few weeks removed from the actual almost dying. He knew he had to calm himself down a little, because this was Chariklo and not an actual enemy, before he would be able to actually learn.

"Not this week, no," he said. "Looking lovely as usual, Chariklo." Because there was no scenario in which he was above complimenting someone, especially a teammate, and most especially someone he actually did think was pretty. He took a breath.

"What, specifically, are our plans for the evening?"

"Flattery will get you everywhere," Chariklo found herself replying with a chuckle. "And our plans are to get you thinking creatively."

The odd gleam in her sunset eyes was hopefully hint enough that they wouldn't be teaching him to macrame his way out of trouble. She wanted her precious babies to be able to think on the fly and solve problems without being mired in some idea that there was only one right way to do anything. Best way to get them to that point was, in her own so humble opinion, to force them to think of the fly. But she wanted information from him first.

"So," she said with obvious curiosity. "You're Temptation or something like that, right? HOw does your magic work?"

She remembered Aurora's vague explanations ages ago about how her Romance magic worked. If Tantalus' was anything similar, she might have to enforce a no magic policy for his training. Wouldn't do to have the teacher panting after the student, after all.

Tantalus had to agree - flattery had done him well in his encounters with the White Moon so far, and he'd yet to actually have to fight one of them, which was excellent for him. The less he had to fight, the happier he was.

"Temptation, yes," he acknowledged. "It's a distraction, mostly; I summon up a magic apple and it draws you to chase it and try and get it - though, of course, it's always just out of reach." Much like the mythical Tantalus, desperately grabbing for water and food and never quite able to catch.

He rather disliked his myth, and prayed fervently it hadn't come from a past life of his. He'd hate to think he'd been that much of an a*****e, even if it was once upon a time.

Magic apples, huh? Chariklo sighed softly to herself. Clearly, whatever cosmic entity was in charge of powers and such had been high on the day she/he/it had come up with Tantalus'. Still, wasn't her place to judge.

Still.

Still. Magic, floating, goddamned apples. Oy.

"Okay, Tanty-pants, let's hold that in reserve for now and just focus on the physical side of things," she said, making sure to waggle her eyebrows a bit. "I'm no judge, but at least for right now, your magic sounds like a good distraction for if you ever want to make a quick getaway."

Doing a quick scan of the area, she decided that there was enough random s**t to make this a nice little challenge.

"Right. I am going to attack you. I am not going to go easy on you, though I will pull potentially damaging punches. I want to teach you, not kill you. You are going to be creative and use whatever you can find to hand to try and defend yourself and fight back. No magic though. Got it?"

Smiling serenely, Chariklo wondered if Tantalus had any kind of an idea of what he was in for tonight.

Tantalus responded, almost automatically, with raised eyebrows and a teasing grin of his own. Perhaps one of his favorite things about Chariklo was that they could flirt with each other and neither would take it seriously.

"Physical is where I need the most help, Chariklo my dear, and besides, you're exactly right - my magic is best for quick escapes," he acknowledged, stepping away from the edge of the roof and shifting into the defensive stance Damocles had taught him. He knew the barest basics, and he also knew that Chariklo knew a lot more than him.

"No magic, all physical, be as creative as possible. Understood," he agreed, his grin not having changed at all. His eyes flicked around the roof. Yes, this was going to be very interesting.

With a smile so sweet that it should have sent Tantalus fleeing for the hills, Chariklo very clearly braced herself, muscles tensing. From his angle, it would hopefully look like she was simply going to charge him.

She had so much more in mind. And besides, she only wanted him to do without his magic. Her rules never said she wasn't allowed.

"Mobbing Cry!" *

The moment the words left her lips, she was moving, counting on the buffetting of energy to shake Tantalus off guard. As she got closer to him, she ducked low and sent a punch towards his stomach. Not enough to really hurt, but certainly hard enough to steal his breath for a moment.

*= Sailor Chariklo emits a harsh, squawking call, only now the call seems to come from more than one throat and it feels as through a small swarm of wings are attacking. Able to perform three time per battle if needed. The attack is now able to encompass 2 to 3 people if they are not standing too far apart (about a 5'-7' radius). The targets are now in danger of being knocked silly as well as painful bruising around the head and shoulders. Also, the wings take on just the barest, tiniest shimmering definition of shape. Attack duration is now 30-45 seconds. Also, should the main target of the attack try to escape, the attack will follow them for about 5 seconds.

Tantalus's eyes widened, and even though he knew it was pointless because the things attacking him weren't even real, he threw his hands up to protect his face and head, leaving him completely open for her punch. He gasped quietly, and then kicked forward, aiming for her midsection as she had gone for his.

This was what an actual fight would be like for him, anyway - his magic was useless, but that didn't mean his opponent's would be. So he'd have to do as Chariklo suggested and be crafty, work around that particular disadvantage.

Twisting so that the kick was deflected somewhat by her hip, Chariklo's hands struck out, intending to grasp Tantalus' ankle while it was still elevated and hold it for a moment before yanking him off balance. Sure, it was mean, but his fighting skills thus far really were hopeless. He needed to know what other could do to him and maybe, hopefully, figure out some things he could do to others.

"C'mon boy," she growled. "You can do better than that, surely?"

Fighting was clearly not Tantalus's forte. He yelped like a little girl when Chariklo yanked him off balance, flailing his arms in a desperate attempt to not plant his a** on the ground.

It didn't help.

This, he mused, was the reason he patrolled with Damocles; his boyfriend was a trained martial artist and he was. Well. Not. "Not sure I can, to be honest," he said, but at the same time, he pushed himself up as quickly as he could and then swung a punch, a little desperately.

Hissing slightly as the desperate punch connected with her elbow, Chariklo wondered for a moment if there was a target painted there that she was unaware of. But hey, he was trying!

"Anyone can be taught to fight," she snarled, more angry with his defeatist attitude than anything else. "And you can and will do better if you just use your damn brain and practice. You can't assume that you'll always have someone with you to save your a** if you get into trouble."

Flexing her arm a little, she winced again. If opponents were going to start making a habit of going after her elbows, she was going to start bringing elbow guards with her every patrol. Still, even injured she was pretty sure that she could trounce Tantalus easily.

With a sudden outwards kick, she aimed for Tantalus' shin. Sure, it was childish, but kick hard enough and she might be able to knock him off balance again.

Tantalus hissed softly. He couldn't argue with Chariklo - that was exactly the reason he was here, and it was stupid to count on his boyfriend to always keep him safe.

He yelped when she kicked him in the shin. "That was dirty," he hissed, though he supposed it was no dirtier a trick than using magic when she'd forbidden him to. This time he decided that he was going to lose his balance forward, preferably on top of Chariklo. Taking her off her feet would give him something of an advantage, or at least he hoped so.

So he fell forward, elbow extended towards her, hoping to jab it into her gut.

"'Course it was, Tantypants," Chariklo replied with a wicked grin. "You think actual enemies are gonna play fair?"

She would have said more, but was surprised by Tantalus' novel strategy of trying to fall on her. Granted, the elbow to the gut hurt like a b***h and she couldn't help hissing a little. But finding herself unless Sailor Tantalus was something that she'd never expected to experience in this life or the one after.
