Name: Kiril Vaillant

Nickname: Valiant, Valium

Age: 24

Birthday: May 10th

Sign: Taurus

Gemstone: Emerald

Blood Type: AB+

Fav. Food: After spending years in the military, he no longer characterizes food as good or bad - rather edible and inedible. That being said, he will still choose coffee and raspberry old-fashioned donuts over chips and soda.

Hated Food: There's nothing he won't eat. Unless it's, you know... not food.

School: N/A; works as an assistant manager at a grocery store.

Hobbies:

Fine Arts -- He doesn't know how or why he has the skill, but Kiril has a remarkable talent for being able to render people and scenes using charcoal or graphite. He prefers harder media, and rarely draws in color (but he has his own unique, contrasting style for it), but he often likes drawing to pass the time or to whittle down his thoughts into something as simple as discerning how he might render hair curls in a new way or how to use the light as negative space. Curiously, Kiril won't draw on canvas or paper made specifically for drawing - instead he prefers to render the images of those around him or pure folklore-fueled fantasy pieces on napkins or the backs of paper bags or even the underside of receipt paper. He keeps these scraps in an old wooden box he'd made, one a little too loaded with shaky stain to merit selling, and doesn't have too much attachment to it. But if someone were to strike his interest, he's not above drawing them and slipping the finished product into their purse as he's passing by.

Training -- In the military, Kiril acquired a number of habits - maintaining a strict schedule, a proper workout routine, and a variety of combat skills. He soon found a taste for both maintaining his muscle tone and his skills, thus leading to a planned out workout routine with exercises rotated biweekly. The closest approximation to his style would be World War II combatives techniques, in which the aim is brutal efficiency. It's quick to learn, and he's more apt to practice with ad hoc weapons rather than legitimate knives or firearms (especially during sparring). Since moving to Destiny City, Kiril lacks any sparring partners, but he has plans to visit local venus to feel out martial arts enthusiasts, or even dabble in fighting styles beyond his original training. He employs a (very) loose Unifight method of training learned about in various books, and thus determines his own natural obstacle courses as scouted throughout the city. In these instances, he might easily turn the eyes of passersby or even discover someone of similar competitive spirit. However, it's quite difficult to progress to the second stage of Unifight without a participating enthusiast...

Carpentry -- To build a complete piece of furniture requires focus, resolve, and enough discipline to construct all the pieces without losing sight of the whole. Kiril often takes to carpentry as a means to circumvent emotional overload - when he is concentrating on crafting a proper chair, or a chest for the foot of the bed, he's not thinking about his dismal past. He won't consider the grocery store in which he works, or his dead end job, or how Destiny City seems to be sieged by a bunch of teenagers in obscenely cumbersome outfits. None of this matters, because the wood requires a precise cut, measured twice, and sanded using several grades of sandpaper. He does not like to sell the pieces he creates, but there's a finite amount of space in his shed, so some of his older pieces have to go in favor of the new. He will only sell or give away his creations to people he knows, who he thinks will take care of the furniture properly.

Austringer -- Since Kiril practices falconry with a hawk, doesn't characterize himself as a falconer, but rather an austringer. He began the hobby as a teenager, because his father was an avid hunter and found it a prime venue to spend time with his son. However, Kiril lacked an interest in killing animals, yet his father wanted him to attend for the long hours spent in hunting blinds, freezing half to death. Kiril delved into the hobby, using his budding skills in carpentry to erect proper housing, and forged a proper bond with his bird. He soon learned that falconry is not only an incredibly rewarding sport, but a lifestyle - providing an enriching environment and proper care for his bird demanded hours of his time per day, which he spent without qualm or hesitance.

Kiril uses a typical northern goshawk as his bird of prey, who he chose for her particularly violent method of attack (it's worth noting that Kiril isn't necessarily a sadist for choosing this type of bird, rather that he prefers it for its utter lack of mercy). He's had two in his lifetime - the first he gave away before entering into the military, and the second he found and nursed back to health after getting clipped with an ill-intentioned hunter's fire. His current goshawk, Grant, is relatively accustomed to her owner from their two years spent together. In terms of viability, Kiril can hunt (with permission) on small farms or fields using accipiters alone. Additionally he has interest in teaching others about falconry, or even demonstrate for an audience at fairs. Realistically he wants to further his learning in falconry and establish a regular hunting schedule with a few friends, who might employ other means to hunt.

Virtues:

Objective -- Kiril doesn't often let his emotions sway him. In emotionally-charged situations, he possesses the skill to simply take a step back and examine it for its constituents, deciphering the positives and negatives therein, and formulating a course of action that best fits the dilemma. If Kiril suffers an ego-involved argument with one of his peers, where going along with the offending part and admitting he's wrong won't lead to great drawbacks (like bodily harm), he'll bite the bullet and admit defeat (even if, in some cases, he's right). If confronted with a he-said-she-said situation, he's able to look at both stories with enough detachment that he can formulate his own conclusions without emotional bias toward anyone involved, which identifies him as a good judge for those situations. Additionally, Kiril excels at putting things into perspective for those too emotionally vested in a particular event.

Driven -- When a task requires a great deal of patience and commitment, such as falconry, Kiril excels at it. With ample concentration at his disposal as well as an ingrained need to see a task to its completion, Kiril not only functions greatly in such trying practices, but also becomes a good role model in some instances. Despite social issues and home complications, Kiril toiled away and finished high school. The same can be said of his military career. And in the event that Kiril acquires a new goal, be it something as simple as finding a new job or something more complex like getting to the bottom of these strange Destiny City murders, Kiril attacks the task with such tireless devotion that he'll often stay up late at night or wake early to continue where he left off.

Realistic -- Kiril fosters no love for optimism, but conversely, he does not subscribe to negativity. When studying a situation, he tries to go for a more realistic approach: if someone slacked through the entirety of a college term and then pulled an all-nighter to finish neglected assignments, Kiril would point out that it's unwise to expect an A on the final exam, since the student in question both stayed up all night and pulled a cram session (and probably ate poorly). Kiril also applies these practices to himself - if he pulled a muscle in his leg, chances are he'll fare poorly on the makeshift obstacle course he discovered in the middle of the park. However, not all of his predictions end in dreariness - if that same student instead worked diligently all semester and consistently scored high marks, Kiril would acknowledge that the likelihood of scoring an A on the final was damnably high.

Quiet -- Quietude is more a personality facet than a behavioral observance - Kiril simply doesn't speak without reason. He's not one to shoot the breeze with others or dawdle in long stories or jokes; rather, he prefers to keep conversation concise and poignant rather than spread apart through tangents. Because of this, others can find a willing listener for their troubles or simply someone with whom they don't have to go through the paces of warming up to the topic at hand. When conversation demands social cues to indicate his listening, he will nod his head or give other gesticulations rather than interrupt with a grunt or acknowledgement.

Flaws:

Distant -- While his objectivity is refreshing at times, Kiril displays so few feelings that he's often regarded as cold or emotionally distant. He won't cry at funerals, laugh at jokes, or display much of a sense of excitement when others agree to go hunting with him. Since he doesn't overtly display these emotions, he's easily construed as a male equivalent to an ice queen. It's frustrating for most to try to coax a legitimate emotion out of him - even his sympathies are expressed in a cold manner, his empathy is nearly nonexistent, and certainly relationships are out of the question. As it is, friendships are hard enough to manage with an emotionally flatlined individual. And Kiril doesn't even attempt to make it easy on others - he might inwardly acknowledge that he should show a little remorse for his actions, but he isn't about to force himself to break the constant stoicism.

Lost in the Past -- It seems that the majority of Kiril's life is spent in the past - past accomplishments, past memories, past hobbies, past clothing choices... Basically Kiril has no real working concept of the future, and it's heinously obvious. Something always pulls him back to the older days. For example, the mention of an upcoming hike leads to a short explanation of a hike he made earlier in his life. Additionally, specific memories continually call his consciousness back to those moments - and sometimes Kiril loses himself in a daydream where he revisits old memories, and others find him obnoxiously unresponsive or even a little dazed. Some consider it aloofness, others might overdiagnose it as shellshock, and few simply classify it as damned annoying.

No Sense of Humor -- What is a joke? Kiril hardly laughs, it seems, and what jokes he recognizes only receive a nod rather than any actual sign of mirth. Maybe Kiril is just a stuffed shirt, but any jokesters won't find much of an audience in him. As such, he's difficult to have fun with, since he never really loosens up in social venues. He won't understand the point or entertainment value in practical jokes, and will likely react to them with more irritation than actual appreciation. The same goes for verbal jokes or sarcasm (but curiously, slapstick humor manages to glean a weak chuckle out of him). Overall if there's a humor opportunity to be had, Kiril likely won't get it.

Coasting -- Kiril doesn't seem to have an objective in life. Rather than seeking ambitions or even signing up for another active term in the military, he just settled into the daily grind without many qualms about his underwhelming job or rather shoddy residence. He doesn't seek any means to improve his current social standing, or go back to school for a higher education, or seek positions above his lowly assistant manager job. As if aimless, he simply sails through life at this point. Some might regard him as lazy for it, while others might assume he's depressed or even just out of sorts - but the real truth is he hasn't even conceived of any ambitions in a long time. It's like he reached a point that he can tolerate, and rather than striving for real positive change in his life, he left things at tolerable.

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION

Eyes: Leaf green, narrow.

Hair: Sable with dusty copper highlights. Hair should be varied in length and 'windswept' like this, straight, and in a low ponytail that hangs over his shoulder (whereas Lightning has free-flowing hair that just sits on her shoulder).

Face: Mostly angular. He has a horizontal scar over the bridge of his nose (begins just beneath one eye, ends just above the other).

Clothes: He sticks with well-used jeans, brown work boots and tank tops with a favored, leather pocket-laden jacket. Occasionally he'll wear a cream colored v-neck sweater with the sleeves pulled to mid-forearm, and dark slacks as an accompaniment.

Negaverse Alias: Lieutenant Orpiment

Challenge: Got a bone to pick with you.

Uniform: Please take a bearded vulture and use that as an inspirational basis.

Top -- There are a lot of interesting ideas for upper wear in this picture or this one (specifically the top for the girl on the left - with the addition of an undershirt of sorts).
Bottoms -- I like the idea of form fitting pants like in this drawing.
Gloves -- CC
Belt -- Something like the sash from this drawing if possible! Can additionally be abridged to just a belt for lieutenant stage and progress to this point.
Shoes -- CC
Shoulders -- Maybe something more traditional like leather shoulderpads. Should be simple.
Accessories -- I like some of the beading and string elements in this picture. Only just a few for lieutenant stage though - bird motif should increase in prevalence with rank.
Weapon --
Lieutenant: Falconer's glove
Captain: A pair of gauntlets with short blades on the side (like batman's gloves in terms of the blades)
General: Twin large arm blades (like this)

Main color: Grey
Secondary color: The pinkish orange as in the Lämmergeier picture.
Accent color: Marine blue
