The bulky yet graceful grey figure of the male moved as he padded his way down his chosen path. Emerald eyes were set on the horizon as his sturdy legs pushed him fowards in great bounds. The sun was shining in his orbs and the prospect of new adventure gave him a slightly determined look.

Mbaraka was a gentle lion, who had been raised with perfect manners and knew to treat others with respect. He was also a pacifist, believing that fighting didn't solve anything. He was not aware of his Mistweaver roots, nor his real birth mother.

He tossed his head, attempting to shake his dark silver mane out of his eyes, but he only suceeded in being momentarily blinded. Shaking his head vigoursly, he began to run towards the horizon, white-toed paws thumping against the ground.

Ribcage expanding and contracting in a leisurely manner, a blue-pelted femme lay lazily on a rock face, sunning herself in the day's lovely light. Most days she'd resent the sun its warm rays, for it greatly heated her up.

But today, she had a little watering hole all to herself, and even a tree she could hide under for shade if she wanted to. The only hindrance were the flies, but she batted them away with her tail and an ocassionaly swipe of her paw.

Amidst the buzzing, Mapenzi's ears started to pick out the sound of steady thudding. Like paws moving. She reluctantly lurched herself up and thought she was seeing a mirage when a finely sculpted silver male blurred past her.

Blinking away the sleep, she got to her feet.

"Where are you going speedy?" she addressed him.

He was moving so swiftly that he barely noticed the blue-pelted female. He was out to adventure, to discover! Though he was polite, and at her question he backed up, eying the female with his brilliant emerald orbs.

"Anywhere I can!" A smile lit up his maw, shoving several sharp ivory teeth in the process. "I'm out to explore." He explained, though he realised this probably wasn't too exotic, as it was the occupation of most rogues.

His calm voice was heard again, as he stepped closer, feeling the sun warm his back pleasently. "Who are you?" He asked, gazing at her. She really did have an unusual, yet beautiful pelt.

Mapenzi took another moment to look him up and down, orange eyes lapping up his very appearance. Hmm...lovely misty pelt...and those eyes...purrrr she thought to herself as a pleased smile curled upon her maw. Her tail shifted idly behind her, and her body language shifted ever so slightly from lady-at-leisure to lady-on-the-prowl.

"My name is Mapenzi," she said softly, a way of speaking she had practiced very well indeed. "And what might your name be, explorer?"

A smile twitched at the sides of his maw. It was new to him, but he was certainly beginning to enjoy the more social side of being a rogue. Green eyes seemed to dance at her sweet smile, though he still bore the same child-like innocence towards females.

He nodded at her soft voice, and her lovely name. "Mapenzi." He repeated quietly. "Such a nice name." He grinned at her use of "explorer" It seemed to remind him of his great freedom. "My name?" Soft gaze rose to the clear sky slowly. "Mbaraka..."

"A pleasure to meet you Mbaraka," she smiled and gave a polite nod of her head.

She jumped down from her little rock, and landed gracefully with a gentle thud. Her tail however, was not so graceful, and thumped the ground loudly. She padded to his side.

"So, Mbaraka the explorer, what is it your out to explore? Nearly every rogue has a reason for being a rogue," she grinned. Her own reasons were somewhat unscrupulous, but he didn't have to know that.

"It's a pleasure to meet you too!" He said with a wide grin. He reclined slowly, his bulky figure hitting the ground with a thud. Mbarakas brow furrowed at the question. he had never really thought about his reasoning. Why was he a rogue exactly?

Knowing full well his answer would be terrible cliche, he said it anyway. "I was bored of being stuck in one place, I felt I neede dto explore. In the hope that one day I can settle down and start a family.." His voice trailed off as the thought of bouncing cubs drifted into his mind. He smiled to himself. He'd never had any siblings.

Mapenzi shrugged her shoulders and flicked her tail.

"Sounds reasonable enough to me. Who would want to stare at the same trees and rocks all day long? Although, you'll have to remember that much of the plains look alike," she giggled.

Of course, if one was brave enough to venture to the Firekin lands, or to the swamp or jungle, then that was truly a change of pace. Mapenzi had drifted all over these plains, and whilst she appeared fairly youthful on the outside, she was hardened on the inside, and her somewhat over-confident nature would never give a hint to the knowledge she had amassed during her time as a wanderer.

Mapenzi's nose wrinkled ever so slightly at the mention of cubs, barely noticeable unless one was looking really hard. She had also been a single child, and her parents had chosen to spoil her rotten. The thought of having her own cubs had popped into her mind ocassionally, but never lasted long.

"Family is important to you?" she asked him.

His crystal-like eyes fell to the ground, though he would disagree with her here. "Well, some places I have seen have been extremely different." He thought back to the clear and rocky lands of the mistweavers and smiled slightly. Was that where he was destined to live? Amoungst the pacifists and the families of the pride? His mind fled back to the vision of the beautiful waterfalls, the sight that enchanted him so.

He didn't noticed her expression at the mention of cubs, so chuckled. "Yes, I suppose the idea of a family has been playing on my mind now, I'm not youthful anymore and certain ideas have been appealing to me." He would leave it to time to pick a suitable female for him, though he expected he would come across enough of them in his time.

The blue lioness cocked her head slightly at his correction. As far as she had explored, not many places had truly stricken her as different or enchanting. But she had never truly explored a place, or taken the time to just sit back and soak up the ambience. Mapenzi, by nature, never wanted to stay in one place for too long for fear of getting into trouble over her head. By wandering so much, disgruntled lions could never find her.

"Hmmm...I dunno exactly how nice having a family would be," she said, a little relcutantly. "I mean, you say you'd like to explore, but wouldn't having cubs just tie you down to one place?"

This was always her own excuse for not having cubs with any passing rogue that caught her eye. And her heart. She'd had her fair share of heart-break, although she'd never publicly admit it. Mapenzi was the type of lioness who was proud of her self, her confidence, and wouldn't want to be a made a fool of. Love was foolish to this blue lioness.

The large lion thought at the females words. "Well." He admitted. "You do bring up a good point." Head fell, emerald gaze sweeping over the floor. "Perhaps I can only dream my mate and cubs will share the same enthusiasm for adventure as I do." He had to admit, that being tied down didn't appeal to him. He wanted to explore as much as he can, and see all the new lands. It was another dream to show his children his discoveries, and hope they would love to travel.

He didn't know whether this dream was simply too wild or selfish to ever be found. Would cubs need to stay in their home, or would it depend on the individual? He didn't know anything about cubs, and Mapa's honest conclusion gave him some interesting arguments. Mbaraka let out a low sigh, body sliding closer to the dry ground. He didn't know. He'd just have to see what the future had for him.

Mapenzi's shoulders slumped a little, and her brow furrowed. Whilst the coxy lioness had left many shattered dreams and lives in her wake, she felt awful about what she'd just done to Mbaraka. She sighed through her nose and watched the male slide to the ground.

She sat her rump down and brought her eyes level with his in an amazingly rare show of real emotion for Mapenzi. All the bravado, the confidence, the cockiness. All of it gone for this breif moment as she tried to have a heart-to-heart with the silvery male.

"Look, you shouldn't really listen to me. I'm a terribly bad influence at the best of times, and at the worst of times, well, I just talk a lot of elephant dung," she smiled. "I'm sure whomever you find won't keep a free spirit like you tied down to wither in the hot sun."

This is kinda nice the lioness thought to herself. Being honest and what-not...won't really get me anywhere though...

The large male looked up, orbs widening in slight suprise as she seemed to open up. A smiled suddenly graced his feautures, a complete constrast to the previous moment of apprehension. Mbarakas expression lightened as her beautiful red gaze caught his. And for a moment, he saw a glare of honesty, probably the most positive glare he had ever witnessed.

At her words, he blurted out in protest, suprising himself. "But you brought up a really good point! It was just smart!" His kind nature didn't want anyone to get hurt, or be made a fool of. "I'm sure you'd actually be a positive influence, Mapa." He gave her a genuine smile. "Perhaps that's simply something you cannot see yourself." At her last few words, his smile widened. "I hope so. And I hope that you find whatever you want in life, too."

Mbaraka was now wholly content with what they had shared, and he was thankful for her honesty. Mapenzi certainly was smart, and this in paticular captured the rogues attention.

The clouded lioness felt better to see him smile. Her face, nearly always stiffened to keep her expression that of false innocence, completely melted away. Wow, those eyes are really kinda...wow...

She had to shake herself mentally to keep herself alert. There was nothing wrong with a bit of harmless flirting, but as long as she didn't fall too deep, she'd be fine.

"Well, as much as I'd like to hear you flatter me all day, looks like you need a drink and a travelling buddy," she said as she got to her feet energetically. "Maybe we'll both find something good on our travels."

Mapenzi inclined her head over to her little private water-hole, and then padded over to take a hearty drink, wash her paws and just generally cool herself down. Since Mbaraka made no protests to her suggestion, it was settled - they'd travel together wherever Mbaraka was headed and Mapa would tag along, beng the sparkling company that she was.
