I'm curious about the violence in Iraq between the Sunni and Shiite's beliefs, could someone explain the issue between them? like why they are fighting each other. 2.
When radicals commit violence on the behalf of Islam how come it feels like the Muslim community gets quiet and only a few condemn the attacks while the other few stay silent? or is their voice lost in the rage of those infuriated by the attacks? 3. Are honor killings frowned upon or supported? 1) This is a very complicated subject. The fundamental issue involves a divergence of opinion regarding the successorship of the prophet (saws). But, this is barely touching the surface.
2) Part one: Muslims do speak out, only we are not given much voice. Part two: Muslims are scared of terrorists, too, and they're much closer to home in our case.
3) "Honor killing" is a cultural phenomenon, not a legal one. As such, it is a matter of local tradition and not of Islam per se.
I am no scholar, only a muallaf. And Allah knows best.
