Tribe Story:As a young fox, Daedalus spent his entire life travelling and exploring for the sake of learning everything he could. As he grew older, Daedalus longed to settle down and pass on his knowledge to other young foxes. He made his way back to his place of birth, Mt. Ilithyia, deciding to settle within it. Though a tribe was not his original intention -- he had at first considered his home as a school -- a tribe was what it became to the young scholars who wished to stay.
To this day, the tribe is open to foxes, tribeless or otherwise, to learn from Daedalus and the Orestes tribe. No fox is obligated to remain as a member. Many stay for only a few months, sometimes for the purposes of learning to become a better shaman, gatherer, etc. for their own tribe.
Tribe Beliefs:The Orestes Tribe worships the male Modeity of Illumination, Enki. A tribe largely centered on wisdom, they honor Enki for the knowledge he bestows upon them, and the ability to apply such knowledge. Daedalus stresses to his followers that knowledge is infinite, all they have to do is learn. Equally valuable, of course, is the spreading of such knowledge. A prime directive for the members of the Orestes Tribe is to follow in Enki's footsteps as teachers as well as scholars.
Tribe Land:The foxes live in, around, and on Mt. Ilithyia, though the land doesn't stretch too far away from the base of the mountain. The ring of forest around the mountain is just large enough to provide food for the foxes. The caverns, known to the Tribe as “The Labyrinth,” extend under and around the mountain as well.
Within the mountain, besides the passageways, are many chambers made of different minerals, interesting rock formations, and 'underground' lakes. One lake in particular sits in the middle of the mountain and forms a river, dubbed the River Styx, which flows through the mountain and off a cliff, creating a waterfall that leads to a large lake at the base of the mountain.
Another major river of the tribe, the Lethe, flows from this lake and off the tribegrounds. Along the outside of the mountain are many cliffs and walkways, making it very easy to climb. Entrances into the caverns can be found at different altitudes around the mountain, and in the surrounding area. The peak, however, is only reached through the caverns, and said to be the holiest part of the tribe lands. Given the name Olympus, this is where Daedalus prays to the Modeities. This summit is vast and, somehow, looks like a forest clearing; it's covered with grass, a few wildflowers, and a single tree in the center.
Here to Stay? We love the smart foxes. But we are more a tribe about learning everything we can and effectively relaying that knowledge to others. We are an inventive and curious tribe. Note: It doesn't matter too much what the official mood is, since a fox could be any mood and still fit in well with Orestes.
Here to Learn? Already in a tribe, but display a few of the characteristics listed above? You're more than welcome to stay a few nights and learn more about whatever you wish to know! Just drop on in!
If, after reading this... ... you've somehow come to the decision that the Orestes tribe is for you, PM the following form to me, demon~hybrid, with the title "Infinite Wisdom."
Teachers - They technically are what they teach, but when foxes who come to the tribe to learn how to learn the trade, it is their job to teach them. These teachers are highly regarded, and when not teaching are in charge of the rest of the foxes with the same job [Ex. Carer Teachers have jurisdiction over normal carers] Foxes in these positions have probably been in the tribe for a while, and have long since gained the Elder's trust and confidence. It is possible for foxes to work up to a teaching position. [Any names listed above that have an * next to them signifies the teacher status]
Scholars - Though part of the tribe, scholars often travel far away, either to other tribes to learn their customs, different climates to learn more about the area, and so forth. They return home periodically and share this information with the others. When they aren't travelling, they remain here and are the teachers of visitors who want to learn things other than tribe roles.
Visitors - These foxes are not members of Orestes, but stay with the tribe temporarily in order to learn from the teachers. More often than not they are already in another tribe, preparing to join, or wish to remain tribeless, but want to learn more about the tribe position they are/will be in. Or, they could just be here to learn random stuff.

Celebrations
Night of the Full Harvest Moon: This party is in honor of Enki, the Modeity of Illumination. The orange glow of the moon on this night has always been, and still is one of nature's greatest mysteries. It's light has thus become a symbol of everything foxes have yet to learn.

Tribe Relations None yet, but generally we will be on fairly good terms with everyone!
Fox Relations:
Intratribal: Adonis x Tithe
Intertribal: Though Daedalus requires members to ask permission when considering an out-of-tribe Lifemate, the Orestes Tribe's open policy with outsiders means they typically allow these matings to occur.
Read this post for roleplay-related updates. Who is where with whom and why? This post will tell you!
Right Now: Nothing is happening!
Future Plots: Some sort of group event I don't know let us plan this thing!

Enki
Enki is the patron Modeity of the Orestes Tribe. His domain is Illumination, both in a literal and figurative sense. Enki spends his days studying everything he can, and passing on his knowledge to those who may need it. Enki works to expand the minds of his followers, members of the Orestes Tribe. Knowledge is infinite, after all, and they can learn something new from every experience. To other 'Deities, Enki is rather matter-of-fact. They are, he has learned, great subjects for character study, but not equally wonderful as students. Thus, he is more often than not silently studying his fellow 'deities. He acts as a neutral third party to all issues between other 'Deities, as he is on good terms with all of them.
His first meeting with the Elder, Daedalus, occurred long before the tribe existed. The original RP contest response is below:
What an interesting mountain Enki had just stumbled upon. Without being the slightest bit volcanic, the mountain was gigantic and had a broad, vegetation-covered summit. The flora and fauna in the area ranged from common at the base to endemic near the mountaintop. But the most interesting aspect was within the mountain itself. Enki believed a normal Modifox could spend a lifetime exploring those caves and never want for a new subject matter. These caves were rich and diverse with mineral wealth, varied greatly in size and altitude, was home to a colony of bats and a labor of moles, contained one large underground lake, and finally, the most intriguing thing Enki has found so far: a lost and lonely kit. Yes, one of these days, Enki decided he must seek out the Modeity of the Earth and congratulate her on such a wonderful creation.
Now, Enki could see that it simply was not this kit's day. He had run into the cave to take shelter from a raging storm, been scared even deeper into the tunnels by the aforementioned bat colony, tumbled down a steep hill that he couldn't climb back up, and was now curled up in a ball, confused, hurt, sobbing, and frightened. Something had to be done for this boy, there was no doubt about that. It seemed there were no other foxes in the mountain, or even in the immediate area, so Enki would just have to get creative.
A star-nosed mole crawled out of the ground and went up to the kit, sniffing the other creature and feeling him with his little nose appendages. The fox was so startled that he shrieked and jumped away. Right into the nearby wall. The mole, unfazed by the violent reaction, moved closer again and continued exploring, crawling and sniffing and feeling all around the kit's feet. Though he couldn't see, the boy gathered the creature was some sort of small, furry creature that had not yet proven to be dangerous, so he calmed down a tad and allowed it to continue sniffing him. After a while, he even started talking to it.
Enki could see the boy, who had introduced himself to the mole as 'Daedalus,' was grateful for the company, but ultimately that was not the reason he had summoned the tiny tunneler. The creature, satisfied with the information it had gathered about the boy, turned away and began leading the way through the tunnel. Daedalus, not wanting to be alone, followed as well as he could. He was having a hard time of it, though, as the cave's darkness never let up and the kit's sense of smell was not yet well-developed. Enki directed his feet as much as possible to land in the direct tracks of his guide, whose long claws left a distinctive mark on the soil below.
For a long time, this strange little parade progressed slowly through the tunnels. Daedalus, quite a clever little kit, it seemed, picked up quickly on how to find and follow the mole's footsteps, so Enki didn't have to do much to keep them in line. They trekked through many a cave. Most were as dark as ever, but some did have small openings that led outside. They helped Daedalus see a bit more, but it was still dark and storming outside. The group passed many frighteningly precarious stalactites, precious gems that went unseen in the darkness, and even the clear, cool underground lake. The two mortal creatures stopped to rest a drink for a bit before Enki urged them to continue their journey.
The last leg of the voyage involved a particularly steep hill, but Daedalus was able to climb it well enough. Suddenly a light appeared at the end of the tunnel, and Daedalus ran excitedly to greet the sunlight. And sunlight it was. The tunnel opened up onto the mountain top: untouched by the storm below, bathed in light and covered by short grass, wildflowers, and one particularly large tree. Daedalus scampered and rolled around the clearing-like summit with absolute glee until he accidentally ran into the suddenly corporeal Enki's leg. Intimidated, the kit jumped and shrunk away, barely able to stammer out an apology.
The Modeity smiled down at the kit. "You clever boy," he said gently. "Do not fear me, as you no longer fear this great mountain. Learn from this experience, and we shall meet again." And with that, Enki faded into nothing.
"It's intriguing, isn't it?" Ayreon asked of her mate as he came to greet her at the tribe's border. "The feeling you get when returning home. A sort of warmth, happiness. I'm not saying it surprises me, because of course returning to loved ones on familiar territory is, by nature, a pleasant event, but it's still interesting to think about, is it not?"
Daedalus smiled. There was never a dull moment with her. "How, you mean, did our feelings for our homes ever evolve past the bestial need to claim territory?" He said, nodding thoughtfully. "It's a wonderful query. I shall ponder it and get back to you." Abruptly, he turned around and began walking away from her to enjoy some quiet time in his thinking spot on the summit of the mountain. Jokingly, of course.
Ayreon rolled her eyes and trotted to catch up to him, nudging him in the shoulder lightly as she did. They continued to walk back towards the mountain at that pace. "You're quite ridiculous," she said in an unhappy tone, though she was completely unable to keep a straight face.
"So. Grandmother." The word rolled off Adonis' tongue as if it had never been said when addressing another fox ever. Because that was the way of things. He had just had the most interesting heart to heart with Maeve. He took a deep breath before continuing. "I truly am glad we had this time to talk," he told her, offering a kind smile.
"As am I, Adonis," Maeve responded. She had spent the last bit of daylight absorbing his stories of his life and that of his family. Their family. "Thank you for indulging me in these tales. I'm so glad to hear that Caelan is doing so well, as well as you and your siblings." To think that she was now a Great Grandmother. And newly mated to Lucinda, still at a stage where the topic of having kits hadn't even been broached. Ah, time was a funny thing. Family was a funny thing. And what a learning experience this would be for her.
"Now, I know you must be eager to return to Tithe," Maeve said, "and we have all the time in the world to catch up again later. Of course, next time you'd better bring your children along!" She winked and walked off through the trees.

Tithe eyed her mate from the corner, tail flicking side to side as she watched him speak to his grandmother. Quietly, she padded up to her mate, brushing against him briefly before passing the male in favor of heading towards the kill pile. Now that her kids were grown she had little to do, as new kids hadn't arrived and the tribe was slow. She had classes to teach, yes, but currently no students. She could visit Jerifa, but her sister was busy with a new man who was healing her broken heart.
Things were boring, and she wanted change. She also was growing more attached to her mate, which showed when she abruptly stopped and glanced back at him, head cocking to the side in a silent: 'Are you coming?'
