More training, never not!

Except…the fields were oddly devoid of any trainees today. Molly’s eager smile slid down into a worried expression as she looked back and forth on the field. She was really hoping there’d be someone out here possibly looking for a sparring partner…but…no such luck. The thought of texting someone like Otto or Dakota came to mind, but then she decided against it. They were probably busy doing really important things anyways, and she didn’t want to bother them!

So there Molly stood, fingers clasped over her stomach in the training field.

More training was not necessarily on Abbi's list of things to do that day. It was more on her list of things to do for tomorrow, or the next day. Mostly that was because she had planned on visiting the library in search of some sweet, sweet knowledge. And because she needed something else to read outside her ring of defense manuals with the occasional peek into the medical tomes just to sate her curiosity. One day she was sure she would see something that made her stomach turn, but until then she would keep testing that theory.
Unfortunately for Miss Abbi, she got ever so slightly lost on her way to the library because instead of books she found... The training fields.
A hand rose into the air as though a good Jedi wave could make the grass turn into paper, but she dropped it a second later.

There was a ginger over there.
And not just any ginger, one Abbi knew. Oh lucky day!
"HIIIIiiiiiiiii!" The teen called, jumping into a run toward the other girl. Molly was just standing there, so why not brighten up her day by having a much tinier girl run at her? Fool proof plan!
"Hi Molly! What are you doing here at the training field? Its been foreverrr since I've been here. The last time was... Well I fought my friend Ripley once--" Yes, she was beginning to talk even though she was still in the process of running toward Molly, "--Do you know Ripley? He's SO COOL! He's uh he's got white hair and glasses, total otome catch if ya know what I mean." Nobody knew what an otome game was here, why did she think anyone knew what that meant.
But that had never stopped her before...

"Anyways! I participated in the tournament did you do that too? I didn't watch a whole lot of others cause I was kinda tired and trying to watch my two friends, maybe you know them too! Um there's Finn and uh well he's blonde now and he's like... Well..." Here she had finally reached the girl and made a stand offish, gruff gesture that still seemed elegant and refined. "He's kind of like... The cold guy you gotta watch out for, yanno the type. Usually class president type thing. And Jack is SO SO tall! He's more the athlete kind who may or may not be the bad guy of the game." Was she still talking about otome games? Why yes, yes she was.
After a moment of thought she laughed because she had talked herself in circles and forgotten what she had wanted to say. With nothing else to do Abbi smiled at Molly expectantly, waiting for her to answer one of those many, many questions.

Molly startled when a familiar voice called out to her, and she stared as Abbi started running across the field towards her…and…spouting off a lot of…things…

The trainee leaned a bit closer in Abbi’s direction, as if this might help, her brows furrowed in concentration. “Well I—“ She didn’t a word in edge wise though while the girl was spouting off a mile a minute. An otome? What was that? Ripley? She thought she saw his icon very briefly on the Twitters but that was it and…so many questions. Molly smiled sheepishly and nervous at the girl once she finally approached.

“Uh…” She paused for a moment, and tried to remember all the things Abbi asked. “Hi, Abbi! It’s really good to see you again! Um…I’m looking for someone to spar with and…and I don’t know Ripley, unfortunately ah…w-what’s an otome…exactly? O-oh yes, the tournament! I was in it as well…how did you do? Uh…” At this point, Molly then slowly shook her head as Abbi went on to describe some other trainees she wasn’t familiar with.

Goodness…so much…hopefully she caught all the questions!
PostPosted: Tue Nov 19, 2013 7:49 pm

Thoroughly pleased with herself over such a marvelous introduction, the girl waited for Molly to reply before she launched into any explanations. It was so cute the way the other girl was kind of shy and quiet and didn't like to interrupt! Of course this was very dangerous for Abbi because she would totally just dominate the conversation whereas previously she might have shied away. There was just something about Deus that had her more confident in herself, probably because the people here had no notion of her strange ways until she had already verbally vomited them all over people.
And since Molly had askeedddd...
"An otome is a type of video game! Its Japanese and means 'maiden' and they're basically games that you play through a fun storyline and make choices that affect the plot but! BUT THE BEST PART! The best part is that you get to DATE someone in the game! Like-- like there are lots of guys-- I mean yeah they make games with girls but those are usually like, yanno..." Here she moved her hands out to the space around her bust and jiggled both hands around. Hopefully that translated well. "But I mostly just play the ones for girls where you get to date boys." Here she took a deep breath to bounce on her tip toes.
"But there are lots of different types of guys! There's the glasses type, and there's usually a boy with white hair and Ripley is both of those! And there's the cold, standoffish guy who is really nice and that's Finn but he has a girlfriend. And sometimes there's a bad guy who does mean things but you can still date him and that's probably Jack but maybe he's somebody else I don't really know him that well."

Another breath was taken before the girl continued on.
"But in the game you have to talk to the boy you like EVERY DAY and bring him food he likes or gifts and then you get a heart event where he confesses something to you like his dark past or what his dreams are and then eventually, it takes a lot of work just b-t-w, he tells you he loves you!" Abbi looked vastly proud of herself and her explanation, beaming brightly at Molly.
Finally she realized the girl had said something else and nodded at her.
"Y-yeah! I did pretty well! I mean I hadn't fought much before but I beat the first person I fought! What about you, did you do ok?"

...And then she realized.
"WE COULD SPAR TOGETHER!"

Molly politely listened as Abbi launched into an explanation as to what an ‘otome’ was, and covered her mouth with her fingers in a slightly scandalized expression as Abbi pantomimed a well endowed bosom. Goodness! Molly, as she listened, looked like she was trying to piece together what Abbi was explaining. Okay so…this Ripley fellow…he was…an otome game? Abbi said he had more than one feature so…

Molly’s brows furrowed.

She didn’t even question this line of thinking. Weirder things had happened at Deus than real life video game characters. Seriously.

Molly leaned in a bit closer to Abbi, and lowered her voice to a hushed whisper. “So…um…a-are you…playing an otome now then…? Are you talking to Ripley every day to earn his affection?” Molly’s question was asked in awe. Such interesting people she always met at Deus!

“Oh, that’s wonderful at your win!” Molly complimented, clapping her hands a bit as her voice resumed its normal volume. “O-oh…me…? Ah…I won all my matches and uh…the intermediate bracket…?” She suddenly got very embarrassed as she admitted this, before she startled with surprise.

“R-really?” She asked. “You’d spar with me?” She sounded hopeful now, and clasped her hands together.

All in all, it was for the best that Molly did not think it out of the ordinary for someone to juxtapose their life alongside the basis of a video game, for no one had ever really taken that particular ideal very well. Everyone before had always poked fun at her, or worse, so now that the fellow ginger looked so engaged and interested, Abbi finally felt vindicated in her belief. Which of course meant that she instantly adored Molly more so than she already had, even when she leaned in closer.
Quick to oblige, Abbi leaned in too with wide violet eyes that she turned up curiously to her new friend. Until the question was asked, of course. That had the teen going not only a very vibrant shade of red, but also rather stiff and flaily all at once. A cackle sounded in her mind and Abbi began to huff and puff a bit as she waved her hands around.
"N-n-n-n-n-oooooooooo I-I-I just th-think he's yanno a good f-friend and i-its not l-like I-I-I-I talk t-to him everyday--"
{ Sometimes he gives ya the slip }
"An-and its n-not l-l-like I-I'm trying to earn anyone's affections! Especially n-not him! I-I mean, its n-not like h-h-h-he would ever l-l-like someone like m-me!""
{ Nope. Not little Miss Apples n'Heart Events }
Viveca you were really not helping.

Still flushed and over eager to switch subjects, the girl latched onto the knowledge of Molly's win with gusto. A deep noise of awe and appreciation left Abbi as she unabashedly gushed over the older girl.
"Wooooow you won your whole bracket that's so so sooooo coooooool! Woooooow! My friend Fini won her's but wooooooow you're a level ahead of us that's so epic! So you must like know all the really cool moves right?" Was that a bit of sparkling Abbi was doing in Molly's direction?
Whether it was or not, she nodded excitedly and hopped into the air with a punch up of her fist.
"Sure thing I'll spar with you! I bet you've got a bunch of epic moves you could teach me! It'll be fun!" Plus, additional training was always a mega bonus.

Well…Molly wasn’t sure what to make of Abbi’s sudden embarrassment and…words…? The only conclusion Molly could make was that she’d seen this reaction a lot in the romance life time movies where the girls actually did like the guys and then well…

Looked and sounded like Abbi.

Hm.

Molly blinked a few times, not sure what to say next…but if what Abbi said was true, and this Ripley was an otome game…

Molly gasped, and cupped her own cheeks with worry.

“Wait…if you’re not talking to him everyday…does that mean you’re losing the game?”

Sorry, Abbi.

But now it was Molly’s turn to go red as Abbi complimented her about her win and…knowing cool moves. Uh…she really didn’t think so. “I…I don’t think I really have a lot to show you but uh…I…I’ll try my best, I promise!” Since the young trainee seemed raring and ready to go, Molly followed her lead. She stepped back from the girl, and summoned her weapon, cradling her monster lance against her side.

Thinking that this particular strain of conversation was over, Abbi stopped her over the top antics for a few moments and did what she could to stop blushing so much. Given that her heart was still pounding in her chest that seemed not likely to happen, but it was a nice try in any event.
It was Molly's gasp that had the teen shooting into the air, this time startled because what wait why was the cute girl gasping oh no--

A terrible, sad, choking noise left Abbi and she turned large, rather hurt looking eyes toward Molly.
"I-I guess I am..." She mumbled with a dramatic sigh before she bent at the middle to hang her head in shame.
{ I thought you said you dinna like him? }
"That's right!" Abbi snapped back upright with a clenched fist shoved into the air. "Its not like I like him!"
If it were possibly for Viveca to roll Abbi's eyes with the force of her own eyeroll, it might have happened but thankfully the teen was a bit too determined to look as though she totally definitely didn't at all not even one little bit seemed phased by Molly's words.

Thankfully it was time to battle as Molly stepped back to summon her weapon. With an awed squeak Abbi set about gushing over that, flailing and waving and picking out everything to compliment ("Its colors are so nice! Wow those swirls are so so cute! Its really pretty and so big wow!") before she decided to summon her own rather large weapon. Maybe it wasn't as wieldy as Molly's, but she was proud of Viveca! And look! She had been practicing!
With a twirl of the staff, Abbi began to show off her best colorguard moves (of which she had never participated in previous to her time at Deus), trying to keep her scythe spinning as she grinned at Molly, totally forgetting to attack.
"I'm totally 1000% positive you've some sweet moves stored away behind those cute curls!"

Welp…Molly didn’t even end up swinging her weapon this time at Abbi, because once Abbi gave her that look it took every ounce of Molly’s being to not just drop her weapon, rush over, and scoop the girl up in a hug and comfort her. But she reminded herself they were indeed in a spar, and that it could possibly wait until after. Yes.

Then Molly was just very confused.

Wait…it seemed like Abbi did like him…but now she was saying she didn’t? Uh…

Yeah, Molly just looked perplexed, right up until the girl was dishing out more compliments that had Molly more flustered and blushing as she waved a gloved hand a bit. “O-oh no, I’m really not, and really don’t…ah! I’m sorry!”

Apparently attacking Molly was just not on the list of things to do for today because Abbi didn't even bother with it. Granted, she had not tried to do it earlier either since she had instead been preoccupied with twirling her scythe and now she was preoccupied with dropping her weapon. Clumsy hands made for inaccurate twirling, especially since Abbi was still getting used to Viveca's weight, and thus was not able to properly grab the staff portion when she rotated it over the back of one hand. The shriek and clumsy attempt to catch her weapon after that was comical at best, but the teen eventually recovered enough to shoot Molly a goofy grin.
Viveca, on the other incorporeal hand, was not pleased and in the middle of a very heated and colorful rant at her owner.

Choosing to ignore the verbal abuse, Abbi shouldered her weapon with that same goofy grin.
"Sure ya do! I've been on this island long enough to know they don't promote just anybody!" The girl bunny hopped her way over to Molly to roll back on the edges of her heels. "I mean, they might not translate well cause yanno... Lances are fundamentally different than scythes... That is a lance right and not... Some giant screw of sorts?"
There were some pretty strange weapons here at Deus, it wouldn't seem out of the ordinary to hear of something like that...

Molly thought Abbi’s twirling was pretty impressive…even when she dropped it. The trainee cringed a bit at the shriek, and a gloved hand reached out as if she could help regardless. “O-oh dear! Are you alright?” She didn’t need to answer it though, since she was bouncing her way over to Molly soon enough, and the trainee tensed, as if Abbi would strike her once she got close enough, but no such hit came.

“Uh…” Well, that was true…she was promoted because she had put in another hours and mission requirements but…sometimes…well…

“O-oh yes! It’s a lance!” She replied, and winced as her own weapon boomed inside her head to keep her mind on the matter at hand. This was still a spar, and thus yapping their lips wasn’t the only thing they should be doing, or so stated her weapon. Molly ended up taking some steps back from the girl, to put some distance between them, and then thrust her weapon at the trainee.

Abbi did know they were sparring, right? Hopefully that attack didn’t seem sudden. Molly fretted.

"Peachy!" Abbi chirped in a rather squeaky falsetto, a nearly perfect imitation of a particular pink princess with a bad habit of getting kidnapped. Thankfully Viveca was happily saved from a full drop, though she continued to loudly grumble and gripe about it, but as usual Abbi ignored her in favor of their new friends.
"You must take your Safety Dance job pretty seriously!" This was told with a smile, half because the teen was impressed with the other girl's dedication and half because she'd forgotten the real thing Molly had called her specialty and Abbi felt a little bad about that. It was the latter reason her smile seemed to waver...

Totally aloof about what was going on because yes, Abbi had indeed forgotten that they were having a spar, she blinked wide eyes at Molly as she backed up. The sudden jab from the lance made her yelp loudly, stumbling back from the force of the attack as surprise clouded her smile.
{ Oi, no gettin' mad at Curly Q ova there. Forgettin' the fight is one you }
Way to have loyalty to your owner, Viveca.
But the teen drug in a deep breath and swung the scythe out and around, hoping to hook Molly's side since she too had a distance advantage. Just maybe not the same power packing distance advantage...

Molly winced at that rather squeaky falsetto, and though she was usually pretty dense and obtuse and oblivious, there was something about it that even threw her off…”Oh yes…I…do take my safety…specialist…job…seriously…? Even though it’s in its baby stages right now…” Molly frowned at this and her brows furrowed in thought, and she was stopped from thinking too long as Abbi yelped after being attacked.

“Oh, I’m so—“ She stopped herself. Wait…they were in a spar so…now she looked confused again. Molly shook her head, as if to clear her thoughts, and just focused on the spar for now, lest they lull into another awkward pause. Molly brought up her weapon parallel to her body to stop Abbi from snagging her completely, and then pushed the scythe away from her with a shove.

A bit like a goldfish, Abbi had totally forgotten about the attack Molly sent her way and was smiling at the girl as though it had never occurred.
"Baby stages? Still, its a start! Do you have any specific plans for it?" Look, this was the first time she'd ever met anyone with a specialization, so she had to bother them relentlessly until she was satisfied in her knowledge of the occurrence here at Deus. She knew that Mists specifically had to pick something to specialize in, but could the other divisions do the same? There was just so much to learn!

When the lance went upright, Abbi clattered against it and was thrown back, stumbling on her feet with a laugh.
"Wooow! I was totally right you're really good at this!" After that she didn't bother attacking, content to try to get her scythe going into a good spin.
"So how long have you been on the Island?"

“Y-yes, baby stages…it was only approved a few weeks ago, so I’m currently gathering all the information I cane from each division, and then I’ll work from there!” Molly beamed. “Oh, yes! Well, once I have all the information I need, and manuals for equipment and what not, I’d like to…start having classes and seminars for hunters to attend…!” At one point, Molly ended up staring off into the distance as she imagined it…then she remembered she was still in a spar.

Then flushed red, again. “O-oh…really…I’m not that good…th-thank you though! That’s really kind.” Abbi managed to barely clip her with that spin, and Molly lowered her lance and jabbed the girl again. She noted her weapon as it hummed, fully charged, and answered Abbi: “O-oh…! About two years, now! How long have you been awake for?”
