Kenpachi Unaga, the 3rd Shinigami known to have held the title of Kenpachi attacks the Gotei after destroying Osaka Japan to forge the Oken, a key to the Royal House.
With the Gotei on the defensive members of the Quincy assisted in the battle against Unaga's forces that were greatly out numbered due to being a rouge squad. The rogue squad 11 put up such a fierce fight it nearly drove the brave fighters back to the center of the Seireitei, Unaga finally entering the fight itself after sitting it out as long as possible.
After the death of Unaga'a Lieutenant at the hands of the Quincy and Shinigami the rogue squad lost morale untill Unaga unleashed his wrath on the Seireitei.
The battle seemingly over, Unaga took his chance to head off to the Royal house only to be stopped by the remaining heroes that managed to stay alive and standing to oppose Unaga.
Letting a stern warning be heard to his enemies, Unaga said.
"Let it be known, if I fall here today, this wont be over. There are other 'Gotei' out in the world .. Zeus, Vishnu, .. God ... are all the same as us .. one by one they all died out but those who survive aim to be the last" When asked why kill the Spirit King Unaga responded with.
"How far would you go, to see God Die?"Ayumi Korogame, a member of Squad four lept up behind Unaga and struck the man across the face with a stab from her Naginata when Unaga turned, the blade going into the eye goggle of his mask slashing his mask right off.
The gasses Unaga used to spread disease and death stopped, showing that not even he was immune to his own Zanpakuto as Korogame came forth with the cure to the disease.
Unaga in a vunerable state battled with our heroes untill the Royal Guard appeared right when the final blow was going to be issued by a Quincy and a Shinigami.
Witnessing the demise of Unaga, the Royal Guard member represented the Spirit King who gave the order to have him sealed away hundreds of years back. Unaga was killed when he himself was infected, then set ablaze where his body spontaneously combusted to nothing when given the fatal blow that ignited the flammable disease within him by none other than .. a quincy.
Battle over, Jisaku and Ayumi are last seen sitting with one another with Ayumi leaning on Jisaku...
