Delicious, tiny and fast. Sludgesticks, at this rate he would never catch it again. A deep hissing filled the air around him, tail swishing rapidly from side to side in mounting annoyance. He was hungry, so hungry, hungry enough to start stalking again as soon as the sweet savory scent of pumpkin spice hit his flared nostrils. It wasn't often one got the chance to devour a sweet little spice mini, them being elusive and all. Rare delight couple with the sheer thrill of hunt only made his mouth water that much more. That and well it was...surprise jolly meal in the creepateria again, no thank you.
Where was it, sniffing the air Zaire frowned at past folly. He had nearly had the little morsel within his jaws once but it managed to escape by swatting him in the eye with its fuzzy little paw. That was the problem with some minis, they couldn't except their fate. Trying a new approach in catching the mini Zaire camouflaged himself in a crowd of students, walking with them in the direction of the delectable scent until he had to branch off.
It didn't take him long to locate the mini at the edge of The Not-Forbidden Forest.
Narrowed, vibrant blues honed in on it, it was just sitting there either out of breath or looking for places to hide. Either way, Zaire saw his opening and slid behind a highly convenient tree that rest just behind the mini. This was the end of the line, hunkering down Zaire's face became all that was visible as he peered around the trunk to the mini. Debating on an ambush or a fast strike he studied the mini, breath settling and body relaxing to a pose he could crouch in for sometime if needed. Nothing else mattered but the food, no sound around him was getting through, the only thing that was being sight. Which was currently locked on the mini as it's ear twitched and it started back towards him.
Sliding back easily behind the tree he stilled and waited to spring, lips parting to flash a set of eager and sharp teeth. When the mini sprinted forward he pounced, body lunging and teeth snapping as his hands wrapped around the tiny body. "Got you..." He purred lowly to the creäture wiggling within his grasp before lazily sliding his tongue out to roll across the twitching ear. "Mmmm..." Yes, lunch was served. The minipet squirmed in his grip. Small teeth digging into the boil's hands as it let out a hiss. Lunch or not, the small koobo would fight tooth and nail before it allowed this giant to devour it. Fortunately for the minipet, however, it didn't need to.
Shortly after Zaire grabbed the minipet, a large pair of jaws came snaking through the trees, aimed directly for the mahamba as it snapped shut just inches from his face.
"That is mine." The hydra snarled, lips pulled back to reveal a fine row of serrated teeth. "Drop it!" Though whether the boil would give it up or not was another thing. He hoped he would, after all, the forest was a tight squeeze for someone of his size and in his student form, he wasn't exactly intimidating, nor was he strong. The minipet even with all of its fight wasn't a match, more so when Zaire went natural to get the mini down his gullet easier. As the koobo's teeth bit into his flesh, his grip tightened threatening strangulation if the mini didn't comply with an easy swallow. This could be so much easier if the stupid thing would settle down, he thought with a fairly sassy roll of large silted blues. At this rate he would have to kill it before swallowing it, a thing he hated to really do.
Just about to devour the tiny morsel Zaire opened wide, only to pause with his jaws open as a larger pair jutted from the forest and snapped in his face. Vibrant blues widened in shock then promptly narrowed on the hydra that followed behind the impressive set of serrated teeth. Perhaps if he hadn't of stalked this particular mini for what seemed like hours the stubborn expression he now wore wouldn't be there. But as it was, well it was there and it was accompanied by a piercing look, " what do you mean yours?.." Zaire drawled, tone sounding bored and skeptical, then tightened his hold around the minipet.
He wasn't going to just give up a meal because someone tried to lay claim after capture after all. So on a deep, mocking, inhale he shivered for the scent, delighting visibly in its smell and proving how serious he was about eating it if the wrong answer was given.
