Leora had left her house late that evening. Late enough that her family and the patrons of the Bed & Breakfast she called home were already fast asleep, so her slipping out went completely un-noticed. She would be gone when they woke up, but they would attribute that to her leaving early for her courses at DCU. Which wasnt completely inaccurate.

The young woman intended to patroll for a few hours before getting some breakfast and heading to her first class, one that she had picked in part because it started at the crack of dawn, giving her a reasonable excuse for being gone at strange hours.

She strolled a ways from her home, through the shopping districts to an area with many apartment buildings, edging further away from the suburbs, more towards the city. Turning down a scarcely lit, and empty alley mostly inhabited by fire escapes and dumpsters, she walked at an easy pace, strolling out the other side, as Lt. Teallite, a young black and white clad woman toting a small teddy bear.

She had been a Negaverse officer for some time now, and she was becoming more comfortable in her skin, used to the invigorating surge of energy that it gave her. She had survived the shades, hers, Ilmenite's, and their queen.

Those events had given her a great deal of confidence, making her feel that if she had survived those, that maybe Ilmenite had not made the wrong choice in bringing her into the fold.

Luxor was going further on his patrol than normal, but he did not really care. He had a lot to think about, anyway, and he felt like he was not doing enough to stop the Negaverse. Every day he found someone new, some new agent of Chaos that he had to add to his mental list, and every day, so far, he had failed to make even a dent in their numbers.

He needed to really step up his efforts.

When he felt an aura appear nearby, he knew his luck was shifting. This was when he could really leave his mark, and make them know he was something to fear. Or at least, someone on the White Moon side was. He wouldn't exactly leave his calling card, but with all the other attacks, he supposed they could put it together as him.

But they would never know who he was as a civilian, so he was not worried.

He moved toward the aura, fists already clenched. He saw her and hesitated, noting the little toy, the young look to her. She was a girl, which made it a bit more difficult. But he knew it was all an act and that she was as dangerous as anyone else. He approached her, scowling.

"Hunting, hm?" he didn't care. He didn't want her name, he wouldn't give her his: he was there with one simple goal. And he didn't break his stride, looking every bit like a man about to punch someone in the face.

Leora's stride faltered as she felt the swift approach of an order aligned power signature. And then suddenly a familiar voice ringing in her ears, one that made her grin to herself. She had met Luxor a hand full of times... but never while she was powered up. She had met him a handful of times, and always he was the semi-disgruntled hero, walking her safely home, or escorting her around town.

Now it made worlds of sense. He wasn't just a charming loon who liked to dress in a multitudes of belts. He was a knight.

She had always been aware he was a large man. Even more so compared to her own tiny stature, but this was the first time she had ever been intimidated by his size. He wasn't stone faced and calm. He looked like he was near into a rage, and seeing that look on her hero made her take a step back.

" Luxor? "

And then it dawned on her he wouldn't recognize her at all. He wouldn't see the young woman he had promised to keep safe. No, he was see Teallite. A nevagerse Lieutenant toting a teddy bear. Which also explained why he was looking at her as if he had just caught her stomping on the kittens he tried to rescue.

Luxor did not recognize her, not even for a moment. He had had another Negaverse officer know his name without introduction, and he assumed it was because they kept some sort of records of the knights out there. The half naked one in a skirt was probably an easy one to spot, amongst them all.

Plus his habit of getting into brutal fist fights with them was probably something to note as well, but what did he know of how they worked? He wasn't studying them: he was just trying to get rid of them.

That was why he wasn't about to stop and ask her how she was doing, or if she was even up to no good. They all had the capacity for evil and the longer they were allowed to steep in chaos, the worse it became. He was not the type to let those chances go unchecked.

Luxor didn't pause when she said his name, glowering at her and running. He didn't miss his chance, swinging for her while she was trying to talk to him, his heavy fist swinging low this time, for her gut. Usually he went for the head or face, but most of the time they ducked out of the way. He had to learn, if he was going to get good at this.

In theory she knew they were enemies, but her brain just refused to react to the situation. He wasn't anywhere near what her brain put into the dangerous category. Quite the opposite. So when he swung at her, her reflex were slow.

Slow to the point were all she managed to do was take another step backwards. Not nearly enough to dodge Luxor's attack. It connected, probably a little higher then he had intended, and Teallite felt like she had been hit by a buss, feeling something in the torso of her body snap. Considering his size, muscle mass, and the fact he was a rank higher then her in power, was probably the most accurate description then anything else she could come up with.

Her breath left her in a rush, and her body careened backwards a good foot, smacking into the side of a used cloths donation bin, which in turn scooted a few inches with the horrible sound of metal pegs screeching against concrete.

Teallite doubled over, her arms crossed in front of her, wide eyed. Weather it was a delayed attempt to block, or a response to being punched harder then she thought physically possible, was unclear, and a horrible wheezing escaped from her mouth as she tried to figure out how to get her shocked lungs to work again.

Luxor watched her as she fell backwards, knowing he had landed a very solid blow, and that she would not be getting up in a hurry after a hit like that. Very few people would, he imagined, and he was not really being immodest. It was just simple fact, as he had felt how solid the hit had been, and he was aware of how his rank and size might impact the strength behind it.

He might not have been the best fighter out there, but sometimes he would inevitably have the advantage, just based on facts.

Watching her silently, he approached her slowly, letting her gasp and try to regain herself but not really worrying about it. He did not think she would really be able to fight back now. She seemed to be newer to this sort of thing, and he had been in that position not too long ago. That did not afford her much pity, however.

He was set on his goals, and that involved wiping the negaverse out one by one, regardless of who or what they were. He had no idea that he might have known this person in his other life, or in hers, and until that thought was really presented to him he would be oblivious. He would fight them like they were nothing else, only the evil he knew.

"You'll be killed if you don't run," he said, but it was only an obligatory warning, like a recorded message. It was uncaring and insincere. He charged forward after a moment, swinging this time for her jaw.

No matter how hard she tried, she couldn't seem to get herself to draw a deep breath. And with a terribly certainty, she swore she could feel something broken and grinding along her ribs. She shuddered, straightening up, a faint indent in the metal were her body had crushed into the metal bin.

She had just enough time to look up at him, his tone distant and cold, and just enough time to see the punch coming and to duck. She felt his fist skim against the top of her hair, like a near missed bullet, and did the first thing that came to mind. She swung her bear at his head, the toy giving a resounding squeak, and dipping sideways, trying to skim around the squire.

He was such a big man, and it was such a tiny alley way, not even large enough for a car to go down. It was not a good place for a lone Lieutenant to be cornered by a squire.

Let alone a squire, while seemingly determined to end her, she wasn't sure she could fight, even if she was a rank stronger. It just felt wrong. The first thing that had ever felt wrong in her time in the negaverse. Even the man she had accidentally killed, while tragic, had been done in self defense. Had been an accident.

This was Luxor. Her maybe-stripper-kitten-rescueing-gaurdian who made sure she made it home at night safely. She knew he was a good guy, and she was suddenly filled with a horrible loathing for the white moon... to twist him into something so wrong.

She jumped, scrambling over the top of several recycle collection dumpsters, heels clicking loudly before jumping back down to the pavement. Suddenly she was acutely aware that Luxor had much much longer legs then her, and would probably catch up in no time.

Focusing her will, she called her stupid little bear back to her.

Luxor watched her, and knew that this was going to be easy. He was not sure how to feel about that, and thus he turned his emotions off. He could hide from them, and become cold, distant, so as not to feel the regret and hesitance he knew would assail him if he stopped to think too long on just what he was doing.

Beating up a girl, who clearly had no idea what she was doing or what was going on, and who had already been injured enough to win him the fight. He could easily kill her, but she was someone's daughter, someone's friend. Someone would lose something they cared about tonight, and it would be his fault. All Nega soldiers had identities, the same as he did. But he could not think about that, and so he didn't.

He just turned off being human, and his ability to care for others. The Negaverse, he told himself, did not qualify. He caught her teddy bear as she made to pull it back after smacking him with it, his frustration with himself vented through the act of ripping its poor little head from its shoulders before he let it go.

Telling himself he could do this, he could really kill someone, took more time than he thought. By the time his eyes unglazed he saw her scrambling over some dumpsters, running for her life to get away from him. The hesitation he was working so hard to get away from made him stop immediately, and he did not follow her right away. Maybe he was giving her a little bit of a head start.

But he did start to move, and he did chase after her. He leaped the dumpsters almost effortlessly, chasing her and reaching out with one of his massive hands to grab the back of her neck, his leg lashing out to kick her in the back of the knees, essentially aiming to tackle her face down to the floor.

She swear he sounded like a Clydesdale coming down the street behind her, or maybe that scene in Jurassic part were the T-rex is chasing down the jeep and David is shouting Faster, must go faster. because that's what it felt like, she could hear, practically feel his foot steps as he barreled down the alley with a speed that was ungodly for someone his size. She pushed herself harder, but each deep breath her lungs took, dragging cool air down into her lungs, burned like fire, her ribs protesting at the combined action of breathing and running for her life.

And then the next thing she knew there was a hand grabbing the back of her neck, tangled in her long blonde hair, and she was falling forward to the concrete. She had enough time to fold her arms in front of her to keep her head from smashing into the ground, which is what she assumed had been his intention. She hit the ground hard, her own momentum working against her, and the weight of the squire behind her pushing her down.

She knew for a certainty if Luxor got her pinned she could pretty much kiss everything goodbye. Without a doubt he was stronger then her, and she certainly couldn't beat him at thumb-wrestling let alone trying try to escape if he managed to get a good hold on her, so she did the only thing she could think of. She rolled as hard as she could, regardless of her protesting body.

If she could just get him unbalanced and off of her, maybe she could not die. Yeah, not dieing sounded nice right about now.

Luxor landed heavily on top of the nega, letting himself fall with her and using the force of the fall to drive his knee into her back with the impact. He was relentless and, once angered or caught up in a fight like he was now, he could completely lose himself in it. He stopped thinking about anything but how to win, and how to stop his foe from being able to fight back ever again. He stopped worrying about others, or how the ramifications of the fight might impact him later. It was all about the right now.

And right now, all he carried about was getting another nega off the streets.

She managed to turn her body in time to save herself from getting a knee through her spine, though it meant he slammed his knee hard into pavement. A shudder of pain shot through his whole leg and into the base of his spine, making him stay put for a moment to catch himself. He growled in fury, though she was only avoiding him to escape him and the one pursuing the fight.

He got to his feet and turned to continue his attack, but the pain in his leg had not subsided. His knee buckled and gave out under him, bringing him down to a kneeling position against his will. Though he was immediately righting himself, it took time, giving the Nega the opening she needed to put some distance between herself and the fury driven knight.

Teallite rolled into a small pile of discarded bricks, the impact stopping her body and causing her to grimace. They were remnants of someone obviously walling up what used to be a loading area, which was now a section of dingy but solid wall dotted only with some foot level windows that lead down into a dingy catacomb like basement. She was far enough away that she was out of grabbing length, and when she pulled herself to her knees, she grabbed a crumbling half of brick in her hand.

Her breath caught as she saw Luxor fall to his knees. A smart nega would have brained him. Smashed that brick into his face, that right now was contorted with an almost insane looking rage that scared her to the marrow of her bones. But even scared as she was, she couldn't bring herself to do it. She even raised her hand a little bit as if she would lung at him and try to crack his head open, but she hesitated. It was only for a second, but it was enough to remind her that this was luxor, and this madness wasn't his fault... it was the white moons fault... So turned she flung herself forward. and flung the brick through the glass of the closest window. It was small, so very small Teallite wondered if she had wasted precious seconds on a route that would prove to be fruitless for her.

The glass shattered with a startlingly loud sound, echoing down the alley way, and Teallite dropped, shoving herself through. She could barely fit her hips through, and for the first time in her life she was grateful for her tiny stature. Even as small as she was, she just barely squeaked through, and as she did she felt shattered glass she ha dent had time to kick out cut into her already bruised flesh, like little tiny razor sharp teeth caught in the window casing.

She wasn't looking at him, but she could feel his eyes on her, and without sparing a moment to look, she let go of the window ledge, letting her body drop inelegantly to the floor, her legs crumpling beneath her as she hit the cold concrete floor of the basement. She glanced only once up at the window that she had fallen front, so high up that even if she had stood on one of the abandoned prices of furniture and stood on her tippy toes, she would not have been able to touch it. It was a pinpoint of light high above, floating with its counterparts who were still whole and unscathed from projectile bricks. She got to her feet shakily, eyes still on the window as she walked backwards a few steps and was slowly engulfed into the darkness of the building. She turned on her heel and fled.

She had only one thought in her mind, her vision clouded by tears and a blinding hatred. The white moon was her enemy before, but now she knew the depth of their corruption, turning something, someone, so heroic into a monster of pure madness and bloodlust.

No matter what she had to do, she would save Luxor from the white moon.
