If Leto wasn't out on patrol, she was in Mirror Space. Because somehow, the stark white nothingness of it was comforting to her. And maybe she spent so much time there because she was holding out hope that her Queen would return. Because if she didn't have hope, would anyone? Most of the Dark Mirror Senshi that were still in Destiny City didn't even know who Ares was. The ones that did know didn't care because she wasn't as important to them as she was to Leto. So waiting in MirrorSpace had become part of her routine- sleep, eat, work, patrol, wait and repeat. Sometimes waiting and sleeping went hand in hand, if she had had a particularly long day.
Right now was the part of her day in which she was waiting- so she sat in MirrorSpace, staring intently at the Black Mirror that was in Ares' throne room. It was her name being called that startled her out of her staring contest with the mirror. What the hell? She stood up, the chair that was once under her dissipating into thin air as if it never existed. Then she heard it again, and realized that the voice was familiar. There was a tight feeling in Leto's chest, a mix of anxiousness and excitement, when she moved to a nearby mirror that lined the throne room wall.
Slipping in one mirror and out of another into the familiar dance studio, she stood face to face with the girl that was calling her name. "Hi MuCephei," she said with a smile.

MuCephei started slightly like a frightened deer, before settling herself and trying to regain the composure that she used to feel was some mark of ‘herself’, really she was perhaps better known for being a ‘cheery Goth’ regardless of the fact that title came more from her choice in close than life tendencies.
“You came!” She sounded deeply relieved. “I…I was so worried that you wouldn’t. I thought perhaps that after all this time I wouldn’t be wanted. People can change their minds after all.”
She reached up and dragged fingers through her hair, pulling it and undoing tangles that didn’t actually exist.
“I just… I can’t even dance anymore without… without thinking of the shadow I’m living under. I can’t go home without seeing the look that says I’m not who they WANT there, they think I don’t see! They think I don’t realize that sadness in their eyes is because…” She started to ramble and put a hand over her mouth.
“I’m so sorry, I really can’t…”

"Of course I came!" Leto replied with a laugh and a shake of her head. "I don't think we would ever change our minds about bringing any of you to our side. Plus, beyond the crying and rambling you have a lot of potential, I'd be stupid not to have you as one of us."
Her head tilted to the side as she watched her fidget and tug at her hair. Suddenly the dance studio was an incredibly fitting place for her to have called her to.
"You have nothing to apologize for, darlin'. If your family doesn't see that you should be who they want there, then that is their loss."

She nodded, a hesitant gesture but one that said that she oh so much wanted to believe that. She needed to believe that someone wanted her for her, that she wouldn’t for at least a few moments be overshadowed by the people she failed to be.
“I never used to cry this way.” She said, her heart aching at the idea of it. “I used to be the one who just refused to cry, now though.” She shook her head, an ebony sway of hair.
She stepped back for a moment and then did a sort of dance over the well polished floor, a light and tripping step that never quite brought her to the tips of her toes, not that her senshi boots would have been suited to such a gesture.
“We, we lost my sister.” She admitted. “Their daughter, I’m not, not really… I don’t even know if we lost her to… to order or to chaos.”
“Say… say I do join you, say I join you tonight.” She said dropping back to the heels of her shoes with a dull clack.
“What would become of me?”

A frown quickly slipped onto Leto's face, her expression softening, almost sad for the other girl, as she watched her dance. "I'm sorry that you lost your sister. I think... I think that no matter what side you fight this war on, that we're destined to lose people that we love. It's a terrible, awful part of being in this city. But I think that who we fight with makes a difference, it makes losing people a little bit easier."
Leto crossed her legs at the ankles, her over-the-knee combat boots about as far from 'proper' and dainty as possible. She shrugged her shoulders slightly, placing her hands on her hips.
"What becomes of you is entirely up to you. But I can promise you that I will do everything in my power to make sure that if you have goals you want to accomplish as a Senshi on my side of this war, I will be right there by your side to help you achieve them."
If there was one thing that Leto made sure of, it was that her Court was taken care of and she tried her best to make them happy at any cost. "And if you mean as a civilian... You will lose your identity. There will be a glamor over you so that no one you knew will recognize you, so you will have to leave your family and home behind. But I'll help you get back on your feet. I have a pull-out couch that you can stay on and if you find a place that you want to live, then I will help you with rent until you can afford it on your own. Either way- Senshi or civilian, I'll be looking out for you."

She had two options at that point, she was sure of that. She could make a rush decision that she might regret for what could be her very short, or very long life. Or she could ‘think on it’ and end up caught up in misery and indecision for the same.
“Yes.” She said suddenly. “Yes, I want to do this. Even if I regret it it’s my choice and I followed through on it rather than being… being left behind by life and disappointing everyone. At least this way I’ll only really…disappoint myself.”
Her fists clenched into her skirt, tugging at the black fabric with her stomach in knots. It was an awful thing to do…Chibi Moon would have loathed her for it. But what right had she to judge anymore? She was gone, the only person she immediately knew might have understood what Mu was going through in her civilian life, the loss and the longing… and she was just gone.
What good were oaths when even the subject of them vanished like the rest of the important parts of your life?

You will help us lead them all.Ares' words to Leto before she experienced her own baptism echoed through her mind in that moment. It was if somehow, 2 years ago Ares already knew that Leto would grow to become a leader of her Court. That she would grow into the Princess that she was today to lead the Dark Mirror Senshi to victory- to their homes. While Leto did not have the staff that Ares did, she did have her own crystal which appeared in the palms of her hands as her powered form shifted from Eternal Senshi to Princess. "Ares can't save you, MuCephei. But I can. I can save us all." The exact words that Ares used. MuCephei called and Leto answered- she would not allow her to change her mind. "I won't let you disappoint yourself." Concentrating on the crystal in her hands, a black mirror appeared behind the Senshi of Blood and Leto took a step closer to her to close the distance between them. She grabbed MuCephei's collar with both hands, kissed her on the forehead and then shoved her into the mirror behind her- engulfing her into its darkness and shattering into her very being. Leto knew the pain that MuCephei would feel- she remembered her own blood curdling scream when it happened to her, along with the sudden huge disconnect between herself and her planet. The smallest hint of a smile appeared on Leto's lips, when MuCephei's reborn form then stood in front of her... As an Eternal Senshi of the Dark Mirror Court.

Freedom, for the first time in her life she was no longer tethered to the expectations of her past, of her world, of her family. She stepped through the looking glass and there was a blessed… quiet. She could no longer hear the sort of eerie heartbeat music of her world. She couldn’t feel the weight of that tree that pulsed with a heartbeat. There was nothing, and she knew… she could never return to that strange… sand dial world with its wells based on a pulse, a dead world… a lost world. It was a world that she had left behind… at last. It hurt… but surgery could hurt, it could leave an ache in you, but sometimes you needed to have something … removed. She glanced down at the bindings on her wrist, the kanji that she didn’t understand. It was an engraved PIECE of her that she’d never once tried to look into. Perhaps she should change that. Her wings, white before were now trailing downward and black, heavy and beautiful. The transparent drape twisted around her arms and hung before her, strange and new like the bracelets, like the pin that held back part of her hair. She could feel it…glassy and smooth with a knot of silky rope like that which bound back her sash. Tears rolled down her cheeks, but they weren’t sadness or pain. “Thank you.” She whispered. Her eyes, before a deep red like the blood that she wielded were now gold, startling and yet flattering to her pale skin and dark hair. “Thank you SO much.”
