People say that, in a nutshell, I'm a friendly kid; I get along with most people. They say I've got a 'big brother' kind of vibe - kids from my class would come to me when they were having a bad day. But I'm nice because I'm honest and reasonable - I'm not the type to say whatever you want to hear. It takes a lot of patience to look for wildlife too - every time I try to get some one else to do it with me they get bored and scare all the animals away. Even worse are the ones who want to hurt them. I've been called protective - I like to stand up for whoever's at a disadvantage and keep the peace. Whether it's the new kid vs. the bobcat or the ant vs. the bully with the magnifying glass. There's a natural instict between people and beasts to fight, but it can be shut down if you know how to communicate with eachother.
My background story is ... My dad's a broker and my mum's a stay at home, though she tries stuff out now and then - personal trainer, artisan, writer (she never published anything), mini-bakery. I've got a wild child for a 4-year-younger brother, who I struggle to keep out of too much trouble. It's no easy feat though, the bugger's got more energy than a litter of squirrels. My dad's more interesting than he lets on; but he got fed a lot of 'stability-first' stuff from Grandad, so "his personal development's been stifled," as my mum puts it. But without him doing what he doesn't like, we couldn't do what we like.
For the most part I'm left to my own devices. Digging through dirt, climbing up trees, and wading through shallows. Wherever I am, I can seem to find animals where nobody else can. I thought I was just really good at it, 'til one day... I'd been begging my mum and dad for a pet, but they wouldn't budge. My mum figured if she let me out I'd sneak something I found into my room, so she kept me inside. I was real upset, staring at my shoes, wishing I could put them on and go out. I was thinking how I'd be happy even with something really small... and then right in front of me, my shoe turned into a mouse! Imagine how happy I was when I got my letter and found out there was a whole world of mythical monsters to learn about (not to mention a school where I was allowed to take animals to class). About time I transferred, too; I was frightfully close to being expelled on account of all my detentions for harboring my other species companions. I just hope my brother's got magic too, or he'll never forgive me.
I enjoy candy of course, good food, hiking, traveling, and doodling.
I despise spicy candies, one-sided fights, poachers, being stuck indoors, dressing formally.
I'm afraid of the dark. And slugs. A girl from summer camp snuck some in my sleeping bag once.
My strengths are my level-headedness and my congenial aura. And my compatibility with most animals.
My flaws are some times I can't take a joke, and I'm awful at anything I'm uninterested in (namely book-smarts).
I look like I've got short, slightly muddied golden hair and relaxed hazel eyes. I'm a healthy, sun-acquainted complexion. For now my face is just a bit round with baby fat, but hidden underneath are some strong, handsome features. I'm average height and weight for a boy of 11. I've got rough hands and feet from wandering around the countryside. I like to keep my pants and sleeves rolled up. Dunno how I'm going to deal with this robe dress code.
My wand is 11 3/4" long, made of oak, with a unicorn hair core. Supple and knobby.
My pet is a champagne point cat with milky blue eyes. Her name's Fiora.
