They arrived on the island in a flurry, and it felt like dissipation but distinctly less unpleasant. It was the rearranging of being, the transporting from one place to another, a displacement in space itself.
They arrived in a room with a portal, the walls stretching high above them. A lighthouse, perhaps? The air was warm in an awful way, and immediately, Aleria hated the heat. It sunk into their bones, and the normally sluggish veins began to kick up a fuss, grumpily pressing their distaste into the demon's mind.
"Is it always this...warm?" they asked, lip curled instinctively. Releasing Otto's hand, Aleria removed their coat, folding it over one arm.
"Shall we walk?" they said, quite seriously offering Otto an arm to take, should he feel like being a gentleman.

"Yup." Otto drawled, rolling his shoulders in relief. The warm was so much better than that frigid house. "Don't worry, it's nicer inside." Being a demon from cold climates, they'd have to adapt some for her, right? The teen looked over the offered arm offered, shrugging and deciding to be a gentlemen for once, leading the demon out of the lighthouse. He led her down the paths leading away from the lighthouse, toward the towering buildings of Deus Ex. "M'gunna have to get you registered and fitted with a special cuff while yer here. It won't hurt you unless you attack someone. 'Aight?"

Aleria gave Otto a suspicious glare. "Is that your nice, or mine, boil?" the demon asked, their tone light and teasing. They let the hunter boil take the lead, as this was his home and sanctuary. One visit in the midst of an assault hardly left a lasting impression.
"That is acceptable. Precautions are a worthy cause. I have no intentions on lashing out at anyone on my own. Are there means to protect me, if someone were to initiate a dispute?" Aleria was careful to not yank Otto's arm up too high, given their height disparity, and ducked through the door, careful to clear their horns.
They were quiet, for a time, before finally asking a question that had been on their mind for some time.
"Do all hunters have such a short stature?"

"Um.. The room yer stayin' in can get cooled down, so nicer." Otto clarified, his icy gaze focused ahead on the path into the building, down the halls. It was awkward leading the demon, her height terribly different from himself. It wasn't new, usually, but Aleria was substantially taller than any normal standards. "I'll be with you most of the time, so no one should start s**t with you, anyway." Otto assured, "It's uh... frowned upon. You'll be fine."Her innocent question had him stop mid way from opening a door, his gaze hardening as it turned up to the demon. "No." He answered sharply, whipping his head to look straight forward and stormed into the room, letting the arm go in lieu of getting things ready for their stay.

"This is acceptable," Aleria mused, tapping their chin with their free hand. They waved at any other Hunter boils and ghouls that they saw, smiling and ensuring they showed their teeth, as it was the polite thing to do.
"Well, that is a comfort, even though I have little regard for my safety. While any altercation may be painful, when pushed to the brink we merely dissipate, as you are surely aware. I would reform close to home, but that would defeat the point of this excursion."
Aleria almost stopped short as the boil trained them with a ferocious glare. Indeed, the harshest one they had seen from him. "I am sorry," they said, trailing behind Otto, setting their coat down upon a table. "It was not my intention to cause distress upon your gruesome." A hint of nervousness trickled into their demeanour, as they toyed with the base of their horns, their smile wavering.
Humans were so strange. It wasn't as though Aleria had implied he was weak, merely...pint-sized.

"That's always the upside with Halloween. You never really die." He murmured, almost forlornly. He'd seen too many of his own die. Her apology was met with a grumbled 'whatever' as he readied the room for her, getting a cuff set up from another Hunter on duty. His status as a Full hunter allowed him to do all this without so much red tape and permission. It was one of the few perks. "Some of us ain't blessed with a vertical advantage." He approached the demon, holding out his hand to get hers. "This here is the cuff. When you're ready to go back to Amity, it'll get taken off. Okay?"

"I have heard of some, but it is rarely dramatic. Everything fades, with time, even us," Aleria quietly replied, but they knew it was not the same. Humans were fleshy bags of meat, delicate and sinewy and weak to everything. Hunters were stronger, but that did not make them immune to the dangers of their lifestyle-- with the look on the boil's face, that much was clear.
Aleria took a moment to unbutton their cuff, rolling up their sleeve, and held the thin appendage out to the Hunter boil. It was thin, and was cold to the touch much like a chilled cadaver might be. Upon its attachment, they held out their arm to inspect it in the fluorescent light, much like they might do with a bracelet encrusted with jewels.
"It is passable," they say, nodding once with finality. "Is there much else I might need to do?"

Sam arrived a grand fifteen minutes later eating a healthy breakfast muffin and drinking what looked like very good not island coffee. She paused, and took a sip, also considerably on the short side of the scale when compared to the larger Halloween student. "Oh, wow perfect timing." This was entirely sarcastic as she held up the cell phone. "Can we have a talk honey."
Sam dragged Otto aside before he could say anything else. "And you stay put!" She hollered back at Aleria. "I mean it!"
"Okay sweetie," Sam started once they were out of earshot, "I don't know if you realized it but power is sort of down right now and people are sort of shooting at everything within firing range ever. So unless you're purposely trying to create some sort of distraction now is a really bad time. So here's the deal, since this already happened and I have two men in a tiny room who are about to rip out each other's throats, well one man ripping throats and the other getting throats ripped and my afternoon is pretty much going to be a test in patience anyway. You're going to owe me at least a week's worth of Starbucks, I'll have my order written to you, which you're free to take my portal card and get for me since you're a Division aide anyway, and I'm going to enjoy my lattes for the rest of the week for this favour. Now, next time you bring a guest please at least maybe put it in a crate or something."
She promptly turned and walked back to Aleria, all smiles. "Hey sweetie, thanks for the visit we're kind of renovating right now. I'm sure Otto here can show you around, and we've got a guest pass for you-" she held up what looked a lot like a collar - "So go ahead and put this on when convenient, and then you're free to wander around. Do you see this patch of grass here? That's pretty much as far as you can go. Do not step a single step out of the patch of grass there's well, there's some slight renovations we're doing and anyone not human sort of kind of might get fried. Permanently."
All terse smiles, the Death Hunter tossed the collar at Otto and then waved her cell phone at him before she left.

Why was Sam calling him Honey? He was in trouble, right? Yep. Otto stared flatly at Sam as she prattled on, Otto's mind starting to haze over with distracted thoughts to keep from taking in the full blame of getting too ahead of himself. But, on the plus side, Sam would handle it and all he had to do was be her coffee b***h for a week. ...wait how was this any different than usual? Oh well... "Yeah yeah sure sure.." He waved a hand at her, following after her once she headed back inside. Otto waited for her to talk to Aleria and leave before approaching her again. He got her set up with the special collar. "Sorry bout that. S'true though. Powers out for the upteenth time. s**t always goes wrong here. So.. want a grand tour?"

Aleria blinked, bewildered by this woman and her endlessly talkative nature. They attempted to take in every fact, but only really drew the conclusion that:
1. The labs and its immediate vicinity were safe. 2. They had to wear the collar.
Letting Otto put the collar on (easier said than done, but Aleria sat to allow for it), the demon worriedly looked out the window at the grass. The idea of becoming 'fried' was unappealing in every aspect of the word.
"Yes, a tour would be grand. But...Why is the power not entirely functional? Do you not run on fear?"

"Fear? No. We ran on uh.. a dude.. or two... well our power source kind of went MIA after they escaped so.." That totally explained it all. He coughed, and rubbed his neck. "It's a long story. We're running on fumes of backup sources until we get back our main power source."

Aleria gazed at Otto, and their statement was accompanied by a pair of airquotes. "'A dude or two.'"

"Uh.. yeah. Merlin and Excalibur." Otto stared back, blue eyes staring absently upward. "They're like... ancient. One of'em went super evil and nearly killed the world. The other dude seemed pretty chill."

"I see."
It was a pointless statement, as they did, in fact, not see. Merlin and Excalibur. Perhaps they could read more on them back at Amityville.
"I am sad for your loss, then. For one of them?"

"S'alright. It ain't really your problem. Just makes s**t more difficult to get done 'round here." Otto turned, trying to remember where it was Aleria was allowed to be led. "Try and enjoy it here while you can. I dunno when I can bring ya back for another visit."
