Hi everyone! I'm Asian girl and I want to know more about Hungarian music life. It seem although Hungary is world-famous with classical music: Franz Liszt, Liszt Academy in Budapest, Kocsis Zoltán; but young people in Hungary listen Magna c** Laude, One Direction, etc… So what is your favorite music? What do you think about the fettle of Hungarian classical music? Or anything else about music in Hungary…
Since I don't speak Hungarian and my english is kinda bad too, I'm willing to listen your chat. Please come and get fun here with your freewheeling talk!

Well, we listen to a lot of Hungarian and non Hungarian music naturally, it also depends a bit on generations too, but not really strictly.

Personally I love many of pop, rock/progressive rock music (like Queen, Scorpions for example), lot of movie soundtracks, Vangelis and so on.
And although lot of people love metal, dubstep, techno etc. I don't really like those.

Hmm... so what are "non Hungarian music"? I mean what 's the most popular foreign music in Hungarian? I'm curious a bit.

I have classic-minded, so I like gently songs, but like consequence of period, I'm impressionable by kinds of exciting music (but I quite have some prejudice against cheap music like techno, breakdance,etc...).

I don't listen rock much, and I have some compunction about days I listened Apocalyptica. I have not yet listen Queen. I only know that's a famous rock band performed in Budapest, and their member have wild life and die when he was young ( is that right?)

So you are from Japan as i see a Japanese person. smile

I like almost all kind of musics, what i like when and after i listen them. So i mean after hearing i like them, or not. wink I just don't really like the very, or too strong musics and the hard rock musics either. I don't really make difference between the Hungarian musics and the foreign musics. If i like, or don't like of them something, then i like it, or maybe not. For example i like an old Happy Gang trio's most of musics (classic to me from the time, when i was 11-13 years old, since i like them too), they are Hungarian.

Plus i like the old classic cartoons' musics. For example Vuk, The Mézga Family, Tom and Jerry - The Movie, Cat City, The Last Unicorn what is a half anime and i like more.

I like series' musics. For example Süsü the Dragon, Denver the Last Dinosaur, Smurfs, Snoopy and maybe i like more.

I like movies' musics. For example Back to the Future movies, Sister Act, Alvin and the Chipmunks, The Addams Family, The Lionking, Aladdin, Time Masters, The Emperor's New Groove, Garfield - The Movie and maybe i like more.

I like games' musics. For example Croc, Jazz Jackrabbit, The Sims, Re-Volt, Zuma Deluxe and i like more from older Atari games too.

In last times (little more than 1 year ago) and nowadays i like few animes' musics too. I like of them The Brave Frog what is rare anime and i like musics from it longer time ago, Pokémon from what i like musics longer time ago, InuYasha, KissXSis, School Days and of course The Last Unicorn, what i wrote before and i like musics from it longer time ago.

Of course which musics i like, or the most, sometimes i listen them again. It's naturally. smile

And more Hungarians like anime musics and AMV videos too. wink So here in Hungary are famous the animes too (mainly on the internet, but not only), but we didn't really translated for Hungarian dubbed versions of them. It's have different, serious and strange reasons, so i won't explain it here and that forum is not really about it. (But for example more Hungarian fans are translated more mangas. The sad thing is they not really nice usually, i mean the translations, but most of them readable. And as you can see of course we speak English too. I mean the English translated mangas can't be really problem either.)

We watch animes, who want to see of them more, then we can watch most of them with subtitle. Of course who learned and speak Japanese very well, then he/she understand the animes without subtitle too. But it's rare here as i know in Hungary. (I learned mainly from animes just a little Japanese, i mean few words and short sentences.) Mainly with non offical Hungarian fansub and sometimes with English subtitle, or few with English dub we can watch them, who interested in it and who find of them. I am sorry i did bring up that topic, but i wanted to tell you that, because i talked about the anime musics too. redface I hope it's no problem.

Sorry for i wrote long, i couldn't help it! I am like that often, mainly if i can talk about more things.

Uhm... sorry but I'm not Japanese. Just Japan culture have mind-bending to our country's young people.

And It's always pleasant to know someone amiable and share music love together. Almost all of your music favorites, I have not yet listen, except Tom and Jerry - The Movie, of course, it's too famous (and here, for you) But I'm so enjoyable to try listening Happy Gang trio 3nodding

From you, I get to know much about manga, anime life in Hungary. My curiosity has satisfied. Since I'm interested in Hungary, it seems I want to know everything and anything about Hungary, especially ickle on life whee

Well I meant the general international, mostly English lyrics songs that are known in many or less countries. Queen is known worldwide too.

I see, nice smile I like gentle music too, but I listen to old classics (like Mozart, Beethoven etc.) a more rarely than to movie soundtracks played by classical orchestras. Bit strange maybe I guess. Yes, I do love many rock songs, but not all of them hard rock or so.
Queen music is well... both pop and rock. Yes, they did come to Budapest (too!) to perform and the lead singer, Freddie Mercury died in AIDS later, in 1991 if I remember right. I looked it up and counted: he lived 45 years.
I also love music from Aidenus (izt's nice, bit tribal and cultural, mostly choirs sing in them) and Vangelis from these more peaceful kinds.
From rock/pop I also love for example Aerosmith, Scorpions, Michael Jackson, KISS etc.
And I love many of the Hungarian music too. Rock, folk, pop, umm "acoustic"(?) which are like... maybe lyrical? For example there is a band called Omega, or Neoton Familía, LGT (means Lokomotiv GT), Republic...
And I also love acapella. There is a Hungarian acapella group which I really love, the Bolyki Brothers 3nodding (They are brothers indeed, except for one of them. Four brothers + 1 who isn't their brother). For example this is very good from them: Take Five - in this video you see the brothers only, the plus one guy wasn't a member when this concert happened.

Uhm... sorry but I'm not Japanese. Just Japan culture have mind-bending to our country's young people. I hear that a generation girl otaku in my country had trouble getting husband because of manga ( If you want to know why, well, they was fan of guys on manga, so they couldn't find any guy on real life who enough nice like guys on manga)

I like anime, anime music and manga, so it's interesting to know about Hungarian things of them. I'm also curious, in Hungary, Is manga translated and published like book? In my coutry, we have manga store, what about in Hungary?

Oh, i am sorry, then i misunderstood you. redface I thought you are from Japan, because you talked about like you are from there. Of course it's no problem, i just thought it and i was curious, that's all. So don't worry, i don't judge other people, because they are from different countries.

I see, so you gotta be curious for Happy Gang trio. smile Little old and funny, but good and boyish too. But it's really Hungarian, most of their songs are fast a bit, but not all them and you won't really understand what they singing. Of course if you learned a bit, or if you will learn Hungarian language, then you have chance to understand more, or less. wink

As i wrote you earlier about the mangas' translation in Hungary, i quote it back:
"But for example more Hungarian fans are translated more mangas. The sad thing is they not really nice usually, i mean the translations, but most of them readable. And as you can see of course we speak English too. I mean the English translated mangas can't be really problem either."
I think that means logically in Hungarian not really, i mean not many mangas came/come out in original Hungarian translations in books. Some of them came out, but nowadays not really. And in Hungary you can't find manga stores, what about only about mangas, or mainly about them. The anime and manga translation is not big, not famous in Hungary, what have different long reasons, what i won't explain here (and maybe it could be a little long too).

Almost all aritst you talkes about, I have not yet hear about them. And music from movies, either >.<

Especially, Hungarian bands is new and charm to me biggrin

And I love a acapella too. But I can't find acapella band on Asian. It has some band do sing some acapella song. and called acapella band, but almost time they sing pop, dance songs. Europe still be home of acapella.
Music movie is attractive to me too but I have a bad memory, so I always forgot movie names and can't find those movie and their music again. But somehow, that makes they become treasure in my mind.

Since I don't speak Hungarian and my english is kinda bad too, I'm willing to listen your chat. Please come and get fun here with your freewheeling talk!

Well, hello there! :3
Please, excuse me in advance, for I will post a hell a lot of music into my post - but it will be tha last, I assure you. Please, bear with me!
That's an interesting question - I try to widen my musical palette, and try to find something in every genre, but I mostly listen to metal, rock, and instrumental music (celtic, tribal, ambient, dark ambient, etc.). I enjoy german and old-norsk texts the most (Rammstein, Fejd, Eluveitie (it could be gael though...), ASP, etc.). I also like anime and game OST-s, and movie soundtracks as well. (Hell, I even started to learn japanese to translate these songs...)
But...Hungarian?
Well... That's a tough one. We had our runs, but, aside the classics, the popular genre is quite lacking in our country, especially the new bands.
But, there are a few hungarian bands I still tend to listen to, they make me feel nostalgic.
I still listen to Jazz+Az (Csepp a tengerben - "Drop in the sea": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-e0n3mawi-k ; Megint hétfő - "Monday again" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UBcQOySNCKM), that's kind of an old - and, sadly, gone - band, from the beginning of the 90s. I used the latter one as alarm-sound in the past. (It kind of tells the story of a gloomy, monday morning, it's awesome to drink your morning tea to it!)
What else... I'm a big fan of László Földházi, more commonly known az Hobo and his band, Hobo Blues Band. He's an awesome composer, singer and poet - not to mention we live in the same village. :3 (Hosszúlábú asszony - "Long-legged woman" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HHZSrWmKjU4) I tend to listen to his adaptaitons from hungarian poets, like Attila József, and György Faludy, but he also adatped hungarian versions from the poetry of Francois Villon.
The more popular bands? I used to listen to Depresszió and Tankcsapda in my more "rebellious, young" years. Rockbands - almost every hungarian younglig knows the text of the Mennyország Tourist (Heaven-Tourist http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0G3OnxmiPUg) and the Ez az a ház ("This is my house" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sagxCNjoQJY) is a must-have for every house party! :3

These are the bands that mostly, if not only play in hungarian - but there are quite a few bands that are from here, but they play in different languages: Paddy and the rats, for example. Irish pub-punk music, which makes your blood boil and your feet dance. (Pub 'n Roll http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jBkmzTe8lf cool

I could send you a lot more, but I don't want to misuse your time. Long story short: we have our classicals, but other genre's are more popular - and nowadays, they sadly also suck, so we try to get our "daily-fix" from other lands. Cheers!

P.S.: If I should get a band that I like from the classicals, I'd choose the Dohnányi Symphonyc Orchestra. They tend to hold concerts every winter, called "Cinemusic" - they play traditional and well-known movie OST-s. The conductor is usually Gábor Hollerung.

It makes me get a more clearly sight about music life in your country: Popular music, old songs, classical music, Hugarian poem and music. I'm going to listen them. And It's pleasant to know that you live in the same village with an artist who was a composer, singer and poet. You must have some memories about him 4laugh

And well, the music world is large, this forum will be long. We have time to share music. I'm glad that we have you in this forum ^ _ ^

I'm happy for your happiness! I'll try to get some more hungarian artists and songs, but, sadly, I have to go back to the university (I love what I'm studiing - radio journalism - but there's a hell a lot of work to do... and it's not even MY work crying ). I'll ask the other radioheads too, I'm sure they'll have something in mind. :3

Ehhh... my favorite? Hm... this is a bit unfair, but I never tell anyone what I like best. That is only an odd habbit.

I have tradional-minded, so I also listen folk music and tradional music. I like Khuuchir ( a Mongolian bowed string instrument with four strings, known as Sihu in Chinese)
sihu, khuuchir,

And I love the duo of acoustic guitar and koto ( a traditional Japanese instrument), Aki and Kuniko, they give me tender and glisten feelings.
