Hunter made his way down the street to the bookstore. True it seemed a little useless at this point in time now that he was blind, but he still considered it a sanctuary. The smell of coffee and pages of new books was comforting, just the like the soft murmurs of each page turning, tiny mouths quietly testing out unknown words as they discovered places and people beyond their wildest imaginations. He smiled as he carefully measured each step, ears flitting this way and that as he tried to gauge if he was about to run into anything, or anyone. He hadn't been blind long, just under 6 months, but with his father's help he had adjusted well and quickly. It was the psychological trauma of the attack that would linger the longest. He sighed and paused as he heard the soft clatter of a door opening somewhere in front of him. He stopped quickly, without warning, worried about what was ahead of him rather than anyone behind who might not stop as quickly as he had.

He'd been walking towards the book store on his way to a deli that was having a lunch special. With his mother busy doing ... what ever it was she had said she was going out to do, he was left to his own devices for lunch. His solution was to treat himself to a nice turkey breast sandwich on a croissant with Swiss cheese, lettus, avocado, and ranch. Just the thought of the tasty morsel made his mouth about water. Caught up in his own thoughts, he didn't see the fox in front of him stop abruptly. "Oof." A whoosh of air escaped him as he impacted with the other. His wings were jarred in such a way that the woody branchings of them clattered as they touched one another. "Sorry.. I didn't see you stop there... You're not hurt are you?"

Hunter gasped at the impact, doing his best to keep his feet under him. After a few seconds of floundering he carefully turned, an ear cocked toward the sound of clattering wood curiously. "I'm fine. What about you? It was all my fault for stopping so suddenly to begin with. I'm so sorry." He took a step closer, head tilting this way and that as he tried to catch all the sounds around him at once. He worried that he had knocked the other male to the ground, or knocked whatever he had been carrying to the ground. From the sound of it, sticks or some load of wooden things.

"Oh no.. it's my fault.. honestly.." He gave the other an apologetic smile as he watched him turning his head this way and that. He moved most like his mother did when she was trying to catch the sound of things and determine her where a bouts. "If you don't mind my asking.." He paused a moment wondering if he should ask or not. Finally his curiosity got the better of him. "Were you born blind? I only ask.. because I noticed you doing the same thing my mother does to determine her location... she was born blind.. but... Never mind.. It was a stupid question.. And a rude one, I'm terribly sorry."

Hunter chuckled as he looked in Damien's direction. "I'm blind yes. But not from birth." He could hear the embarassment in the others voice and just shook his head with a smile. Honestly, he might have found the question offensive if it weren't for the fact that he could still picture watching Exile do the same thing. "I'm not offended. It was a fair question. I was making it kind of obvious I suppose." His ear flicked to a fro for a moment, "Did you say your mother was blind? I'm sorry. Was it from birth or..." He trailed of with a cold shudder as he recalled his own trauma. "In any case, even if your question was rude -which I don't feel it was- I've answered it with a rude question of my own so we're even."

Damien balked slightly. He hadn't been expecting such a response from the other. Chuckling, he started to shake his head in response of his question but stopped. She was born blind. Feared I might be too.. I fear aside from blindness she should have been fearing stick appendages.." He gave a small chuckle before rattling his wings together careful not to tangle the web like membrane between the 'fingers' of his 'wings'.

Curiously he listened to the rattling of his wings, the wooden sound from earlier finally explained. Hunter smiled trying to picture the appendages. No matter how he imagined it, he could only see them as cool. "That's not such a bad thing. Unless there's some drawback I haven't fathomed yet." He blushed lightly realizing that he sounded a bit like a child with a new toy. "Sorry. That was probably rude in some way." He shook his head and gestured over his shoulder. "Would you like to talk more? There's a cafe just down the way we could go and sit at. I can buy you something to apologize for the crash."
