He'd taken a few days. More than a 'few' by rote definition, but the modern implications of the word were less precise to three or just a little bit more. There were projects to finish, and they'd taken longer with the wounds to his trapezius, anyway. If he'd worn those wounds patrolling, there was too much chance that word would come of it. The unexpected side effect was how foreign the uniform felt again after even so short a break after what had become a nigh-daily routine. He couldn't yet decide if it was a good thing, or a bad thing, but maybe that would come with letting it simmer at the back of his mind.

There were more important, pressing things, like attending to the exact surroundings and feel of any or all signatures as he ran along, leaping like some video game fever dream, from building to ledge to building again.
It was like the cosmos wanted to make free-runners of all of them. In fact, it might be a hobby worth taking up along with gymnastics.

His attention refocused to the task at hand - 'patrolling' - he felt the edges of power signatures and corrected his course, working along towards them until he was nearing enough to make them out- a frighteningly powerful chaos aura and a depressingly not powerful order signature. He kept going, picking up his run- someone needed help, maybe. Maybe they were just talking, not that that was good by any means, but it meant no one was dying just yet. The signatures resolved more- Negaverse and a senshi.

Wind be with me, let me get there in time. Don't be fighting. He'd been in situation himself where he'd been prepared to die taking on a signature his superior, but he still hoped it was not something similar- or even the same agent. If they were fighting? It felt stronger than Thraen himself was. Could a super senshi and a regular scout take an agent that strong feeling? Probably not as they were- not knowing each others powers to strategize.

Thraen grimaced as he sprinted.

It was hard to work in this type of supernatural world without seeing something frightening. For Wolframite, these views changed to WHO was doing the frightening things and who was doing the frightening things to. He preferred to be the one giving than watching, especially to senshi.

In the past, he might have had some scruples against picking on someone weaker than him, but now, everyone was a threat and a enemy that could later come to harm him or kill someone he knew. No one got a free pass. No one could pass Go and collect their 2nd chance in life.

The senshi he met was a young man, dressed in short shorts as seemed to be the case sometimes with the few male senshi Wolframite ever got a chance to see. Blonde hair. Brown eyes. Even Wolframite could admit that he was rather pretty. Sphere, well, Wolframite guessed it had something to do with planks. His outfit was somewhat pirate themed, in that childish costume sorta way, and the attack had been a big board that had limited Wolframite, for a short time, to only remain on a stretch of wood. That did not last long, and there was a major problem with that move - Wolframite didn't like being trapped, and his weapon was long range.

The mistake would have been a learning lesson for the senshi, if Wolframite use him for target practice. When the man ran, he threw his weapon, letting his weapon blades tear into his bar legs, cut deep into his arms and shoulders, and stab right into his hip. Each time he ran too far, Wolframite would chain him and drag him back. Each time he ran, the boy bleed more till he laid on the floor, too weak to move - but alive.

Giddy, the General lifted him up by his hair and looked at him. "You should have stayed away from cats." He said, watching the tears drag down the boy's face as he sobbed. "...please....let me go....I won't do this ever again....I-I ju-just want to go home.."

Frowning, he considered the face of the senshi, dirtied now, and the desire of all people to go home and be safe. Then he remembered the DMC and the officers who cried out in those dark hallways, asking to be let go. Asking to go home.

Gritting his teeth, he slammed the senshi's head down onto the asphalt, listening to the man cry out. Lifting the head again, he threw it back down to the ground. Then he stopped. The senshi was alive, the last thing he wanted for him was to have a concussion and not be awake enough to see what was being done to him.

Knowing he didn't have much time left, he reached his hand into the warm abyss before he felt the hard cyrstal deep inside the senshi. The electric, warm starseed.

He came into sight range as the scout was face-smashed off the ground, moments before the Agent was crouching a vulture and plunging hand into other chest. Thraen knew exactly. what. that. felt. like.

The Senshi of Gardens knew exactly what the Negaverse officer was looking to grasp. Fortune does not favor the righteous so much as the foul. I have to try. I have to try to help. That little black one feels strong, stronger than me. There's blood everywhere on that fuku. He needs a hosiptal.

Thraen didn't pause in his sprint, but leapt as from a diving board from the building edge, hands outstretched to catch a pole of a lamppost. He swung with the momentum, switched his trajectory to throw himself at and use the Negaverse General to break his landing. Had the enemy felt him? Expect the aerial attack? He needed the surprise, or the sick b*****d might just rip the starseed right out. This had a better chance of both closing distance and maybe getting hand to let the starseed go.

Starseed gathering, much like energy collecting, required a lot of conversation regardless of rank, and Wolframite was searching for the starseed with a laser-fine focus. The energy from above flickered much too close to his personal space, and he looked up to see the signature facing at him. Pulling his hand out, empty, from the senshi, all he could do was cross his arms and block as he was thrown back, kicked into his arms, and flung back.

He rolled, protecting his body best he could before he reached out, let his hands feel the road that felt like sandpaper against his hands, and kicked off to land on his feet again. His arms were sore from blocking the weight of the other person, and he glared daggers at the interloper. "Back the ******** off! It's too late. You were too slow." He was pissed that his fun was interrupted. He had felt it - the starseed against his palm. Damn, he should have ripped it in that second. Now the girl would die without collection if he didn't act fast.

The hit connected and the scout was still breathing, no soul-star-seed in the General's grasp. The little spider righted himself quickly, even as Thraen had arranged himself as a fight-stance readied obstacle between the fallen scout and enemy. His face was stony, even if his eyes were alive like fire, "Not too late for a soul."

Stay near the body, he might try for a grab and run. Near? Between them. I need to get him near me as well. A general, what am I doing? Exactly what this poor scout was doing. His weapon will be deadly and he's going to be fast and strong.

"Leave, World-carrion. Your prey is lost to you."

"Lost. LOST?" He let out a laugh. "Why?! Because of YOU? What are you going to do about it?" He said, looking the senshi over. "You're just a speck on my radar. You should be worried. I can do the same number I did on him on you. I could cut off each limb before I take your starseed though, just to make you special." He summoned his weapon.

The long, metal chain rested in his hands, and the pointed, serrated blades glinted as they slightly swung like a deadly pendulum.. Turning his wrist, one blade started to spin beside him. "Are you willing to become handicapped over a corpse - or better yet, dead?" He glanced over at the body. "You better protect him or else I might just stab him a few times."

His green eye settled back on the senshi, and it said very clearly that if he didn't take the hits, someone else would.

"Yet who feels no horror in that rank advance, but a devil and its compatriots, ” Thraen spat the words at the other, and did not flinch at the appearance of the weapon. I will no longer fear to die. I will no longer fear torment. I will not fear pain. Fear costs will. Even one act, wounded to death, a fearless man may do before his end.

It was a sick thing, to need to both close distance and accept to be hit in the place of the fallen. Accepting wound took so much of will over human instinct- a thing of soldiers, of those with nothing left to lose, of holymen- Thích Quảng Đức's last moments immortal on film raced through his mind. This was nothing so grand, nothing so sacrificial, world-changing or important. Thraen knew himself no martyr, and wasn't pretending it melodramatically in his mind. It was that he needed that level of determination and resilience. If he throws weight-blade or chain, I must take the hit.

He shifted forward, a short 'sprint' of a handful of his long strides to bring them closer together, the General and himself, aiming to kick the smaller man somewhere at knee-level.

"Your side isn't filled with saints, either." He spat back.

Running directly at someone was never a good move in Wolframite's book, but it was the most direct way to get close - which the General did not want. He favored range, and he was always uncomfortable when anyone got too close. In the past, anyone being close resulted in him getting his eye spiked out or being kidnapped.

Since he was going right for him, Wolframite threw his heavy blade directly at him with a slight sweeping motion, hoping to use the weight of the chain to swing about and tie up the intruder. If he jumped away, Wolframite would make a bee-line for the near-dead senshi. It was always good to have a hostage.

The chain was coming, and his choice was already made in part. He lifted his arms as it hit and wrapped, keeping them free of the wrap, sacrificing what could be a nasty set of chain bruises and laceration from the wicked looking end to have his arms free.

He'll still be stronger than me. He's got me by the center of balance with this wrapped around my torso as it is. How long is this chain? 6 feet? 9 feet? 12 feet? Not more than that and still be effective for swinging about like a weapon with the speed necessary for direction changes. I might get hauled off my feet, but the chain is the key to keeping us close, and close enough for my magic. Just need him uninhibited, unsuspecting.

Thraen grabbed the chain that was wrapping his body, and pulled it against the General like a tug of war. "Men are asked...to be just and moral...not saints."

"And what man ever answers truthfully that they do just that? Even your own side butchers." He would never forget the DMC senshi, still on the senshi side, cutting pieces off of his comrades before his eyes.

He tugged back on the chain, but knew the danger in keeping to this tug of war. He could be thrown off balance, and it also kept him tied to his weapon, and to this senshi. He didn't like to be tied to anyone, and he glared before he gripped and then spun, trying to swing the end and the senshi in one direction, before he desummoned his weapon.

Then he turned and bolted right for the fallen senshi. A energy boost from a starseed would be a great way to take down another even if he disliked the idea of consuming anything that came from a senshi. The times he had consumed a starseed could be counted on one hand, and he tried to keep it that way.

Racing over, he used the momentum he had to give one swift kick into the fallen senshi's gut, sending them rolling a little farther off like some deflated basketball.

The direction change was too much to resist against- between the General's superior strength and control over his center of gravity. The loss of having a grounding on the weapon itself was a nasty surprise. Thraen had seen that agents could manifest their weapons out of nowhere, but he hadn't had a demonstration of desummoning so plainly before. He tumbled once, then popped onto his knee in time to see the General kicking the other Senshi.

But since he'd started between them anyway, and hadn't kicked the General very far to begin with, they were still well close enough for the diameter of his magic. And the General's focus on the poor fallen meant it wasn't on what Thraen as exactly doing-

Now or Never or that senshi is going to die badly. He's going after him out of sadism now, wanting to ruin the fallen in front of an equally trivial other foe. He could easily kill me, really. Sick.

10 feet radius, 10 feet outside the radius...The scout might be at the edges, but its better if he goes to sleep anyway.

"Thraen Annual Planting!"
And the flowers exploded out, following the magic by spreading out as a carpet of color and perfume fresh and sweet.

Sailor Scout Ability: Thraen Annual Planting
How it Works - Thraen folds his hands together like prayer, the opens hands and they are full of seeds. He blows over them, dispersing the seeds. Hundreds of flowers spring up, growing and blooming magically. Their scent causes those who stand near them to fall asleep.
Range - The patch of flowers that grows is a 10 ft. radius around Thraen
Duration - The flowers bloom in the post he casts them. If those in the flower bed or near it do not get at least 10 ft. away from the flowers, they fall asleep like Dorothy in Wizard of Oz. The sleep lasts for 15 seconds. The flowers last for 20 seconds.
Damage Summary - This is not a damage magic. No damage occurs from the spell itself, nor is any intended. If the writer of someone being affected wants their character to fall to their knees and then flop over and take no harm at all, that is up to them. If the writer of someone being affected by this wants their character to fall over mid-run and skid to a stop with a broken nose, that is up to them. But there is no damage effect in the spell itself.
Weaknesses - If someone doesn't stay near them long enough, they don't fall asleep. If people hold their breath, wear a breathing mask, or cover their mouth and nose with wet cloth can avoid the scent as well. Once a person has fallen asleep in one flower bed, they cannot be affected by that bed again. Only a separate bed would affect them. This is an AoE (area of Effect) spell that effects allies as well as enemies.
Frequency of Usage - Twice a battle

He glanced over, and made a move for the starseed, but just as his hand went close to the fallen senshi's chest, he heard the command. It was a dead giveaway to magic, and he snapped his head in time to see the flowers blossom and spread out. Alarmed, he stepped back, but watched as the flowers rushed under his feet and bloomed. It was, well, pretty, but it was also downright terrifying in what it implied.

He was on a bed of some horrible magic he didn't know about yet, and he wanted away. He kicked away, rising, but the magic had already taken his course. As he rose in the peak of the jump, he saw his vision blur and that image of the flower senshi turn dark. "..no..."

He tried to steady himself for the impact, but all parts of him were preparing for rest, and he flew back to hit the ground with a hard smack on the cement. Wincing, he tried to shout out, but it came out as a strangled noise before his body felt limp, eyelids fluttering as he tried to remain conscious.

He was tired.

..very tired....and very afraid about what could happen to him like this.

Even if it was incredibly movie-lame and made him feel like he should be cackling ' i'll get you my pretty and your little dog toto, too', it didn't get old to see an enemy's struggles become an enforced peace. And as tempting as it was to curb stomp the General's head right then and there under his wooden heel, Thraen made a sprinting dash for the fallen other senshi.

It would be the only chance to get them cleanly away and with any amount of time left. Every second could count, with that amount of blood staining the fuku and pavement.

Thraen cradled the other boy close, trying to be gentle, but ran. Ran as fast and far as he could for cover, for confusion of paths, for a disappearing aura act with speed if he could traffic to join to-

There, a road. The majority of late traffic were trucks, which he was glad enough to hitch a ride by leaping and grabbing on to the small ledge- the handhold to open the back door. It wrenched his left arm with the speed differential of a moving truck and a leaping super senshi, but it was worth the possibility of getting away. The sleep lasted fifteen seconds, maybe a few extra of the disorientation in waking before the General figured out both aura's were rapidly disappearing.

Both auras.

He could barely feel the one in his arm, against his chest.
It was so weak. Too weak.

He stared up at the sky, breathing slowing, and wondered when he was going to be stabbed, or worse yet, have his starseed meddled with. Then he wondered if he'd be captured. It would take some skill though, a call for reinforcements, because once he came to, he could teleport. Worry filled him, and he wished he could move to call out, to grab his crystal, and to get Bismuthite to find him.

Instead, he heard the faint grunt of someone hefting someone up, and then the energy signatures move away. He was upset that his prey was leaving, but there was no damn way that senshi would live. Instead, the fallen senshi served as a way to get Wolframite to escape. Idiot. If he was that senshi, he would have gotten rid of a major energy source on the enemy's side. Instead, he ran off to save a already dead senshi.

When at least the flowers melted away, when he could breath and not fill the perfume thick and heavy in his system, he sat up, groggy, and looked around. He would kill that senshi for doing that to him.

Yet, as he sensed, he knew they were too far off. They had a running start, but something else had to account for a senshi carrying a body going that fast. Growing, he threw his fist into the ground. "Damnit."

Math was simple at some stages- 60 minutes in an hour, and 60 miles per hour meant that they were going a mile a minute. The human average heart rate was 60–100 beats per minute.
Where was the closest hospital? Was there time to wait for an ambulance? To call one?

Sixty.
The truck was slowing, approaching a ramp for a highway, and Thraen took the leap and ran a little along the road with the momentum before crouching in the grass of the shoulder off the road. There were no more headlights near.

The second Order aura flickered light a candle.
Went out.
And in his arms, the boy was dead, eyes open at a canopy of stars he no longer carried a name from.
And Thraen screamed.
