It was pretty early in the morning, when the sun was just starting to rise, that Jacinthus set out from home with the thought in mind that he wanted to get something good for dinner. It wasn't that they didn't have food, but a lot of it was dried, salted, or smoked, kept that way so that it would last a lot longer and at the moment he was craving something better then that, something fresh, cooked over an open fire, and dripping with deliciousness. He was more then certain that Keilana and Chandra would be with him on that note though it was hard to tell with Takoda and Aysun. It was always best with them if he prepared the meat where they couldn't see it. Aysun especially didn't do well when he saw the meat before it was turned into food due to his love of animals. As such the hunter made sure to go out, track down something delicious, catch it, kill it, and butcher it out before the boy had a chance to see it in its most basic form. The last thing he wanted was to traumatize his nephew after all.
"Alright now, what will we be eating today?" He asked of Tale itself, looking out across the the land spread out before him before starting forward into it. There were all manner of animals out there that he could take down but if he was wanting to feed everyone then he would need to find something of a decent size. After a bit of tracking he found exactly what it was that he was looking for, tracks. They were the perfect sort as well, those that belonged to the herd beast called Aldabuk. Those things were amongst Jacin's favorites to hunt down, enjoying their taste like nothing else, "Mmmm, yes. I could go for an aldabuk cooked over an open flame." He murmured to himself, nearly drooling just thinking about it.
Shaking his head to clear his drifting thoughts away from what he would prepare the aldabuk with, knowing a few plants that could be added as a way to spice the meat. He would think about that later, after he'd gotten his aldabuk, and after he'd gotten it butchered out. Until then he had to focus at the task at hand, the 'boring part' as it was. To follow along their trail, taking in every little detail down to the last broken blade of grass, and following them for as long as it took for the hunter to catch up. It was something he did often in the past so that he could keep the family fed but really the best part was when he finally caught up and was given the chance to take his shot. It would have to wait though, he couldn't just rush into this after all, not if he was wanting to do it right. If he rushed then he would miss something or worse he'd spook his prey and miss out on his chance to get one of them. If he did that it was more jerky for him and that wasn't what he wanted at the moment!
Forcing himself to remain calm Jacinthus continued the hunt and when he finally spotted the beasts he was after he nearly shouted in joy. Nearly, he didn't want to scare the off now after all, not after all the work he put into tracking them this far. Jacin reached for an arrow, notching it carefully, and looked at the herd before him. He made a quick note of the condition of each of the hooved creatures, looking for the one that would best serve his family, the biggest of them, and turned his complete attention to that one. The more meat the better, he had a lot of mouths to feed after all.
After a moment of watching his aldabuk, waiting for just the right moment, he fired... the moment it hit the rest of the group bolted, leaving him no chance to try to take a second shot. It really was a shame to see so much delicious meat bounding off without him but no matter, he'd gotten one and one would have to be enough. Slinging his bow over his shoulder Jacinthus hurried forward, drawing his knife when he arrived at the spot his aldabuk had fallen, and he set to work field dressing the creature. Once that was done he would bring it closer to the village where he could butcher the beast out without fear of getting jumped by a hungry, though lazy, predator. He wasn't sharing with anyone but his family after all, no animal would be getting their claws on his kill.
